Objective By comparing with arthroscopic rotator cuff repair alone, to explore the efficacy and difference of leukocyte poor platelet-rich plasma (LP-PRP) and leukocyte rich platelet-rich plasma (LR-PRP) in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Methods Sixty patients with total rotator cuff tear accompanied by arthroscopic rotator cuff repair admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology from October 2021 to September 2022 were included and randomly divided into control group (n = 20), LP-PRP group (n = 20) and LR-PRP group (n = 20). The control group only received arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. The LP-PRP group was injected with leukocyte poor platelet-rich plasma (LP-PRP) into the sutured torn tendon after the same operation, and the LR-PRP group was injected with leukocyte rich platelet-rich plasma (LR-PRP) into the sutured torn tendon after the same operation. The postoperative rehabilitation training plan of the three groups was the same, and the postoperative follow-up and evaluation were conducted for 1 year. It included pain score (VAS score), shoulder joint function score (CMS, UCLA, ASES score), retear rate and related complications. Results All patients were followed up. (1) VAS score: Compared with the LR-PRP group and the control group, the results were statistically significant only at 1,3 and 6 weeks after surgery (P < 0.05) ; There was no statistical significance between the LR-PRP group and the control group at 1 week, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after surgery(P > 0.05). (2)CMS, UCLA and ASES scores: There were no significant differences between the LP-PRP group and the LR-PRP group at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after surgery(P > 0.05); Compared with LP-PRP group and LR-PRP group, there were significant differences in each follow-up time point of control group (P < 0.05). (3) Retear rate: In the LP-PRP group, there was 1 retear in the LR-PRP group (tear rate 5%), and 3 in the control group (tear rate 15%). There was no statistically significant difference between the three groups (P > 0.05). (4) There were no postoperative complications in 60 patients. Conclusions Compared with arthroscopic rotator cuff repair alone, although the application of LP-PRP and LR-PRP could not reduce the rate of retear, it could significantly improve the shoulder joint function of patients, and LP-PRP could significantly reduce the pain of patients with rotator cuff injury in the early postoperative period (within 6 weeks), with no postoperative complications, and the short-term clinical results of patients were satisfactory. In order to find new herbicidal compounds, twelve novel l-phenoxyacetyl-3-arylimidazolidine-2,4-dione compounds were designed and synthesized by substructure combination strategy using 3-arylimidazolidine-2,4-dione as the intermediate. The structures of the target compounds were confirmed by 'H NMR and IR. The preliminary bioassay results showed that most of the target compounds had good inhibition against rape and barnyardgrass at the concentration of 100 mg/L. Magnesium (Mg) alloys have been demonstrated to be potential orthopedic implants due to their biodegradability in vivo. To enhance its corrosion resistance and improve its osteogenesis, β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) was coated on a Mg alloy (Mg-3AI-1Zn) by phosphating process. In vitro, the human osteosarcoma cell line (SaOS-2) showed significantly good adherence and proliferation on the surface of the β-TCP coated Mg alloy after 24-h incubation. The growth factor bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) was highly expressed in SaOS-2 cultured with the β-TCP coated Mg alloy by Western blot analysis ( p < 0.05). In vivo, the newborn bone at the implant/bone interface was formed at week 1 and matured at week 4 postimplantation. Villous tissue was found at the implant/bone interface at week 12 postimplantation. The contents of phosphorus and calcium on the surface of the β-TCP coated Mg alloy were decreased at week 4 and week 12 postimplantation, respectively. Immunohistochemical analysis of the experiment results demonstrated that the β-TCP coated Mg alloy implants provided a high BMP-2 expression during the first 4 weeks postimplantation. Compared with the naked Mg alloy which was degraded for 33% in vivo, only 17% of the β-TCP coated Mg alloy was degraded at week 12 postimplantation ( p < 0.05). The in vitro cell tests showed that the β-TCP coating provided the Mg alloy with a significantly better surface cytocompatibility, and in vivo results also confirmed that the β-TCP coating exhibited greatly improved osteoconductivity and osteogenesis in the early 12 weeks postoperation period. Moreover, in vivo experiment demonstrated that the β-TCP coating layer could slow down the degradation of the naked Mg alloy at the early stage of implantation. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To study the in vitro antibacterial activity and biocompatibility of 317L stainless steel containing 4.5% copper alloy (317L-Cu), we produced 317L-Cu stainless steel with epsilon-Cu phase. The cell proliferation of osteoblasts on material surface was detected in vitro. Escherichia coli was cultured with 317L-Cu for evaluating the antibacterial activity. We found that the 317L-Cu could effectively kill the Escherichia coli on material surface. The cell proliferation of osteoblasts on material surface was not different significantly, compared with titanium material. Our study clearly demonstrated that the 317L-Cu alloys had a significant antimicrobial activity and was biocompatible in vitro, so it would be suitable to be used as a new medical material with antibacterial activity.
