The possible benefits of inspiratory muscle training (IMT) on mechanical and clinical outcomes in patients with Coronavirus disease‐2019 (COVID‐19) remain controversial. We conducted a meta‐analysis to evaluate the effect of IMT in the rehabilitation strategy of patients with COVID‐19. The Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science (WOS), and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) were searched to identify trials evaluating the efficacy of IMT in the treatment of patients with COVID‐19. The primary outcome included change from baseline of VO2max, maximal inspiratory pressure (PImax), 6‐min walk test(6MWT), forced expiratory volume in the first second predicted (FEV1%pred), and quality of life (QOL). Six studies with 349 participants were analyzed. Significant improvements were found in change from baseline of VO2max (MD: 4.54, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.79–7.30, Z = 3. 32, I2 = 0, p = 0.001), PImax (MD: 21.43, 95% CI: 1.33–41.52, Z = 2.09, I2 = 90%, p = 0.04), 6MWD (MD: 40.13, 95% CI: 24.92–55.35, Z = 5.17, I2 = 0, p < 0.00001) and FEV1%pred (MD: 8.73, 95% CI 3.07–14.39, Z = 3.02, p = 0.002) while no statistical improvements were found in QOL (SMD: 0.70, 95% CI: 0.37–1.03, Z = 4.15, I2 = 89% p = 0.32) between IMT group and control group. The application of IMT might elicit mechanical and clinical improvement in patients with COVID‐19. IMT could be recommended as an effective strategy of pulmonary rehabilitation for COVID‐19. However, the proper timing, optimal duration, as well as appropriate frequency and intensity of IMT remain uncertain and further studies are needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis (RIPF) is a general and fatal side effect of radiotherapy, while the pathogenesis has not been entirely understood yet. By now, there is still no effective clinical intervention available for treatment of RIPF. Recent studies revealed mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) as a promising therapy treatment due to their homing and differentiation ability, paracrine effects, immunomodulatory effects, and MSCs-derived exosomes. Nevertheless, problems and challenges in applying MSCs still need to be taken seriously. Herein, we reviewed the mechanisms and challenges in the applications of MSCs in treating RIPF. Enterokinase deficiency (EKD) is a rare autosomal recessive inherited disorder caused by loss‐of‐function mutations of the transmembrane protease serine 15 (TMPRSS15) gene. To date, only 12 cases of EKD have been described in the literature and skin involvement has seldom been described. We identified a novel homozygous nonsense mutation in the TMPRSS15 gene (c.1216C>T, p.R406*) in a female infant, who manifested with acrodermatitis enteropathica (AE)‐like lesions that were dramatically relieved within 11 days after initiation of a protein‐rich hydrolyzed formula. Our case shows that AE‐like rashes can be a manifestation of EKD and expands the spectrum of causative mutations in the TMPRSS15 gene. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hydrogen production based on fluctuating power generation by wind and solar is an important way to efficiently consume the wind-solar resources and stabilize the output fluctuation for grid connection. However, the unstable attribute of wind-solar resources has a direct relation to the operating efficiency and economic benefits of hydrogen production system. For this reason, the hydrogen production system was analyzed in terms of its dynamic characteristics based on the wind-solar-hydrogen-storage integrated system. In combination with system operation strategy and the adaptive PSO algorithm, the system capacity allocation was optimized and the system economy was further evaluated. Specifically, an analysis was conducted based on specific cases, and the analysis results demonstrate that the wind-solar hybrid hydrogen production can effectively stabilize the wind-solar generation fluctuation, and has the efficiency raised to 32.17%, which is apparently higher than the single photovoltaic hydrogen production(10.25%) and the single wind power hydrogen production(23.39%).Moreover, the economic benefit of wind-solar hybrid hydrogen production is significantly better than that of single hydrogen production.For example, the internal rate of return(IRR) of wind-solar hybrid hydrogen production can reach 8% when the hydrogen is priced at 29.85 yuan/kg. Generally, the research results are of great reference value for the energy efficiency and economic evaluation of wind-solar hydrogen production technology.

In order to achieve in vivo and vitro fluorescence emission and imaging of YOF nanoparticles with high-performance, co-precipitation method was employed to design and fabricate YOF : Yb3+/Er3+ nanoparticles. The phase structure, microstructure, up conversion fluorescence properties and in vivo and vitro fluorescence imaging performance were measured respectively. The results show that the size of the nanoparticles is about 50 nm, and the morphology is between hexagonal and circular; yellow-green light is emitted under 980 nm laser excitation, and the red/green ratio of its upconversion fluorescence spectrum is 3. 287; optimal upconversion fluorescence emission and in vivo and vitro gradient fluorescence imaging performance were achieved. An advanced battery management system ensures the safe and efficient use of batteries in electric vehicles. As the state of charge (SOC) cannot be measured directly, it is important for the battery management system to accurately and reliably estimate the SOC of batteries. In order to estimate SOC, a first-order resistor-capacitance (RC) equivalent circuit model is used to describe the external characteristic of batteries. The model parameters are identified by forgetting factor recursive least-squares (FFRLS). Open circuit voltage (OCV) is one of the model parameters, and then SOC can be estimated by the SOC-OCV model. The CALCE battery research group in the University of Maryland has proposed some data, which include the data of LNMC/graphite battery working under dynamic stress test (DST) and Beijing dynamic stress test (BJDST) conditions. These data are used to verify the proposed algorithm. The results show that the estimation error does not exceed 3.419 0% in DST and 4.233 5% in BJDST, which indicates that the proposed method can realize online SOC estimation.

Biallelic variants in the LSS gene have been reported in individuals affected by alopecia-intellectual disability syndrome 4, cataract 44, hypotrichosis 14, and palmoplantar keratoderma-congenital alopecia syndrome type 2. The present report described a Chinese girl with congenital alopecia universalis, cataract, esotropia, and nystagmus caused by compound heterozygous variants of c.1025T>G (p.Ile342Ser) and previously unreported c.1011G>A (p.Pro337=) in the LSS gene. Minigene assay confirmed the synonymous variant Pro337= at the edge of exon 9 could produce a novel splice site, leading to a 46-bp insertion of the 5' sequence of the intron 9, likely resulting in a frameshift effect. We consider that the clinical manifestations of this case represent a new type of LSS-related disease, namely congenital alopecia-cataract syndrome (CACS). Peeling skin syndrome type 1 (PSS1) is an autosomal recessive genodermatosis caused by the CDSN gene loss-of-function mutation and characterized by widespread superficial skin peeling and erythroderma with unbearable pruritus. Because of its ultra-rarity and unclear mechanism, this rare disease has no established treatment regimen. Herein, we reported a Chinese woman who presented with congenital generalized pruritic erythroderma and exfoliation, notable for significantly elevated IgE levels. The whole exome sequencing identified an unpublished homozygous variant (c.295C>T, p.Gln99*) in the CDSN gene, confirming the diagnosis of PSS1. Immunohistochemistry analysis of the affected skin confirmed the lack of corneodesmosin expression, revealed the overexpression of T helper 2 (Th2)-related cytokines harboring interleukin (IL) 4 and IL-13. After Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) inhibitor upadacitinib administration, both the patient's skin rashes and itching symptoms were significantly alleviated. Our work expanded the PSS1-related CDSN gene mutation spectrums, substantiated the hypothesis regarding the overexpression of Th2-related cytokines, and uncovered the important role of JAK1 underlying PSS1.
