This study examines how communication technology promotes Islam in Barangay Poblacion, Talayan, Maguindanao del Sur. Due to the rapid growth of technology, Islamic groups and individuals have begun to use social media and mobile phones to spread Islam and engage with their communities. This research aimed to investigate the impact of new communication technologies on contemporary religious practices and beliefs. It explored how individuals utilize technology to access religious resources, connect with the global Muslim community, and participate in online religious activities. The study employed a quantitative methodology as a primary investigative approach. To achieve its objectives, a semi-structured questionnaire was used to explore how Muslim communities in Barangay Poblacion Talayan, Maguindanao del Sur, leverage technology to enhance their faith and strengthen community ties. The survey involved a total of fifty randomly selected individuals from Poblacion Talayan, Maguindanao. Among the respondents were Ulama, Asatidz, and members of the Bangsamoro Communication Network, all of whom reside in Talayan Maguindanao del Sur and are responsible for promoting the Islamic faith. Residents who were unfamiliar with Islam or unable to answer the questions were not included as respondents. Communication Technology Utilized in the Promotions of Islamic Faith results were based on statement indications, with some favoring "Yes" and others not. This suggests that not all communication technologies were used to promote Islam. In summary, respondents promoted Islam only via radio FM, Icom Radio, and cell phone. Challenges Confronted by Respondents in Promoting Islamic Faith Using Communication Technology showed that all statement indicator metrics preferred "Yes". The absence of communication technology abilities makes promoting Islamic faith in Barangay Población Talayan become difficult. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INFORMATION science , *CITATION analysis , *SCHOLARLY periodicals , *CONTENT analysis , *SCHOLARLY publishing , *RESEARCH methodology - Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to find out which research topics and methods in information science (IS) articles are used in other disciplines as indicated by citations. Design/methodology/approach: The study analyzes citations to articles in IS published in 31 scholarly IS journals in 2015. The study employs content analysis of articles published in 2015 receiving citations from publication venues representing IS and other disciplines in the citation window 2015–2021. The unit of analysis is the article-citing discipline pair. The data set consists of 1178 IS articles cited altogether 25 K times through 5 K publication venues. Each citation is seen as a contribution to the citing document's discipline by the cited article, which represents some IS subareas and methodologies, and the author team's disciplinary composition, which is inferred from the authors' affiliations. Findings: The results show that the citation profiles of disciplines vary depending on research topics, methods and author disciplines. Disciplines external to IS are typically cited in IS articles authored by scholars with the same background. Thus, the export of ideas from IS to other disciplines is evidently smaller than the earlier findings claim. IS should not be credited for contributions by other disciplines published in IS literature. Originality/value: This study is the first to analyze which research topics and methods in the articles of IS are of use in other disciplines as indicated by citations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, older people were identified as requiring additional support and protection. This multi-method qualitative study shifts this narrative by asking: how did older people contribute to the COVID-19 public health response? We conducted a reflexive thematic analysis of responses from 870 letter-writers and 44 interviewees who were older people living in Aotearoa, New Zealand during the COVID-19 pandemic. Older people made substantial contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic through: 1) volunteering; 2) nurturing; and 3) advocacy/activism. We argue that policy makers should take seriously the ways older people were providers of help and support in this period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since the start of the democratic era in 1994, South Africa has prioritised small, medium, and micro enterprises for economic growth and social development, offering significant opportunities to the unemployed population. However, the extent to which SMMEs contribute to the socio-economic progress of a particular economy is contingent upon various factors, including the specific country or sector in which they operate. In South Africa, the majority of SMMEs operate within the services sector, with 30% in wholesale and retail trade, 23% in community and social services, and 14% in financial services. Grounded on the Resource-Based View theory, this study aims to investigate how SMMEs contribute to the social and economic development of South Africa. Furthermore, their contributions align with four of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, making this research both relevant and timely. This systematic literature review included nineteen research articles using bibliometric indicators from the Google Scholar database. As a result, the literature review revealed four key SMMEs' contributions to South African socio-economic development namely employment creation and income generation, economic growth, development and specialisation, contribution to GDP, and poverty alleviation. To further enhance this contribution, it is recommended that governments provide support in the form of training programs, access to finance, and mentorship opportunities to help SMMEs grow and create more job opportunities. Quantifying the contributions, or weights, of comparisons or single studies to the estimates in a network meta‐analysis (NMA) is an active area of research. We extend this work to include the contributions of paths of evidence. We present a general framework, based on the path‐design matrix, that describes the problem of finding path contributions as a linear equation. The resulting solutions may have negative coefficients. We show that two known approaches, called shortestpath and randomwalk, are special solutions of this equation, and both meet an optimization criterion, as they minimize the sum of absolute path contributions. In general, there is an infinite set of solutions, which can be identified using the generalized inverse (Moore‐Penrose pseudoinverse). We consider two further special approaches. For large networks we find that shortestpath is superior with respect to run time and variability, compared to the other approaches, and is thus recommended in practice. The path‐weights framework also has the potential to answer more general research questions in NMA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PRACTICE (Philosophy) , *STUDENTS , *ACQUISITION of data , *POSTURE , *AMBITION - Abstract
We propose to deepen the understanding how youth perceive philosophy practices. What is philosophy for them? What benefits and learning do they perceive from it, both in school and in life in general? Collecting data on these questions seems crucial if we want to examine whether and to what extent this practice meets the expectations rooted in it. In this sense, our proposal aims to question the ambitions and achievements by adopting the descriptive and clear-eyed postures mentioned in the dossier. To answer these questions, we propose a qualitative analysis of a corpus of recorded interviews with students from Quebec (16-17 years old) and France (11-14 years old). We have observed common points: students agree on a social dimension of the practice, describing it as a process of questioning that aims at deepening ideas and understanding others' points of view. However, differences emerge in how they conceive the benefits according to the contexts. The analysis shows that some challenges remain to optimize the benefits of philosophical practices for students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The beginning of geography science dates back to the ancient period. One of these periods is the Middle Ages. Science stagnated during this period in Europe, and geographical knowledge was developed more by the Chinese and Arabs. This study explains the reasons for the development of geographical thought among Arabs. Thus, the evolution of the geographical tradition is partially revealed. The article is approached through literature review and biography methods. In conclusion, it is seen that geographical studies were mostly carried out during the Abbasid period. Therefore, the expression “geography is an Abbasid science” will not be incorrect. Generally speaking, descriptive geography, astronomy and mathematical geography, and cartography are seen as important fields of study. There are many reasons for the development of geography during this period. The influence of Islam is foremost among them. The spread of political power through conquests, increasing trade activities, support for scientific studies by rulers, the influence of foreigners, travel, physical geographical conditions, pilgrimage, and urbanization have encouraged geography studies. During the period when two schools, such as Iraq and Belh, developed, especially Ibn Battuta, Al-Idrisi, and Ibn Khaldun, were the leading figures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to provide insight into the publication trends of microcredit programmes from 2000 to 2021. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 1,241 scholarly works related to microcredit programmes as recorded in the Scopus database in September 2022. Specifically, this paper will analyse the evolution of microcredit programmes research by examining (a) document and source types, (b) year of publications and languages, (c) types of sources and subject area, (d) keyword analysis, (e) geographical distribution and citation analysis as well as (f) citation clustering analysis. The results of the bibliometric study provide important information on publications’ current and future trends in the field of microcredit programmes. Based on the data, the number of publications on microcredit programme research has fluctuated over 21 years since 2000. The results, also, present the United States as the largest contributor to microcredit programmes research, followed by India. Meanwhile, the Journal of World Development published the most publications related to research on microcredit programmes. The implications of this study indicate the evolving nature of microcredit programme research and the need for continuous exploration and analysis in this field. Understanding publication trends, identifying leading contributors, and to considering additional databases for research can contribute to the development of current and future studies on microcredit programmes. MANAGEMENT contracts ,INDUSTRIAL management ,EMPLOYMENT ,ECONOMIC development ,EXECUTIVES' attitudes - Abstract
Managerial contracts are essentially synthesis of the power of management and the power of the leadership of the company. The conclusion of management contracts is not a simple and routine task which the contracting parties will easily access or, on the other hand, they will assign that task to other (third) persons. With the adoption of corporate decisions by the company, at the moment of appointment to the management body, and thus becoming a member of the body, rights and obligations determined by law arise. In the process of transferring the status powers to the management body or the manager, the owners of the companies or their representatives inevitably have to share a part of the power with the elected managers. The managerial contract is an act of free entrepreneurial will of the two parties that conclude the contract. Thus, this contract regulates the salary, allowances, participation in profit, reimbursement for expenses, reimbursement for life insurance, insurable income, and other employment rights and obligations. On the other hand, managers as individuals facing professional risk are to create a professionally based coalition of interests of all those involved in realizing the company's corporate goals and business policy and thereby enable economic growth and development. - Abstract
The study consisted of a literature review that analyzed the impact of psychology on the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS). The purpose of SUAS is to integrate social assistance services, programs, projects and benefits into a single platform to improve the effectiveness of the services offered to the population. The review, carried out between February and May 2024, analyzed articles in the PePSIC, SciELO and VHL databases. Keywords such as "Unified Social Assistance System", "Psychology" and "contributions" were used. The inclusion criteria covered scientific articles in Portuguese published between 2019 and 2023 that discussed the role of psychologists in the SUAS, excluding dissertations, theses and works prior to 2019 and in foreign languages. Of the 78 articles initially identified, only 8 met the established criteria and were considered relevant. The results highlighted the "psychosocial" perspective, which emphasizes an integrated and horizontal approach to actions in the territory, differing from traditional clinical practice. Psychosocial care addresses a wide range of issues related to the user, recognizing the complexity of their demands. In addition, the importance of psychologists in Specialized Social Assistance Reference Centres (CREAS) and Social Assistance Reference Centres (CRAS) was highlighted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Tuber yield in potato is a function of positive association of tuber related traits. Understanding the interplays of these traits is useful for a meaningful selection process and tuber yield improvement. Methods: Field experiment was conducted in 2017-18 and 2018-19 dry seasons at Teaching and Research Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Bayero University, Kano and Teaching and Research Farm of Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil to assess the relationships of yield related characters and their contribution to-tuber yield in potato. Treatments comprised of five planting times (late October, early November, mid-November, late November and early December), two methods of propagation (whole seed and cut seed) and three plant densities (66,666; 43,333 and 33,333) per hectare. These were combined and laid down in an incomplete-block design; in fractional factorial using D-optimality criterion. Simple and partial correlation analysis was carried out to determine the relationships, direct, indirect and combined contributions of the measured variables to tuber yield. Result: Tuber yield, average tuber weight (g), number of tubers per plant and marketable tuber were positively correlated to tuber yield. Significant but negative correlation between number of non-marketable tubers and tuber yield was also observed. The direct, indirect and combined contributions of average tuber weight (g), number of tubers per plant, number of marketable and non-marketable tubers indicated significant improvement in tuber yield. The “Gyogyo Kihon Tyosa” (Basic Fisheries Observation), initiated in 1909 by T. Kitahara, a government officer from the Fisheries Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, was transferred in 1914 to be managed by the “Gyogyo Kihon Tyosa-bu” (Department of Fundamental Fisheries Surveys), a newly established section in the Imperial Fisheries Institute. Following increased budget allocation to marine research activities in 1918, the Department of Fundamental Fisheries Surveys was renamed the “Marine Research Division” with expanded responsibilities, including the construction of Japan’s first marine research ship, the “Ten-O-Maru,” in 1919. Based on a series of marine surveys designed and conducted by H. Marukawa of the Marine Research Division, which focused on the Japan Sea and surrounding waters for three years, papers were published describing the general conditions and properties of the Japan Sea ecosystem in Japanese and English along with collected oceanographic data in the Annotation of Oceanographic Research of the Imperial Fisheries Institute. However, the “Ten-O-Maru,” a wooden vessel, suffered from serious decay on its main hull and was scrapped in 1924 after five years of operation. The name of the vessel with such a short lifetime was not succeeded by Japan’s second marine research ship, the “Soyo Maru.” This article describes the footprints and crucial contributions of Japan’s first research vessel and the leading scientist, H. Marukawa, who played a crucial role in the initial stage of marine research in Japan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study focuses on substantiating the most optimal regulatory actions aimed to minimize health risks caused by airborne exposures within Rospotrebnadzor activities including the Clean Air Federal project and the ongoing experiment on setting quotas for emissions. The aim of this study was to comparatively assess effectiveness of regulatory actions as regards specific subjects (exemplified by heat-power engineering objects) with or without use of differentiated approaches to managing ambient air quality and health risks. We analyzed a database on priority sources of ambient air pollution in an analyzed area; performed a hygienic assessment of ambient air quality relying on computed data and also estimated contributions made by specific chemicals and objects to the total pollution; calculated population health risks; implemented an algorithm for substantiating optimal regulatory actions aimed to mitigate health risks under airborne exposures; comparatively analyzed activities stipulated by the Complex plan and suggested optimal regulatory actions identified by solving the optimization task. We conducted a reconnaissance stage-by-stage assessment of effectiveness of air protection activities over 2019–2023 relying on hygienic indicators and risk levels. As a result, we established that implementation of air protection activities and a reduction in total emissions of more than 20 pollutants by heat-power engineering objects would not ensure significant improvement of environmental conditions in the analyzed area considering their share contributions. Safe standards would still be violated in residential areas with levels of chemicals reaching 6.25 single MPL and 7.0 average annual MPL. An optimal sufficient result, considering this share contribution, would be a reduction in emissions from all heat-power engineering objects by 3.47 thousand tons of 10 specific chemicals. This is lower than a reduction planned within the Complex plan on total emission reduction (18.1 thousand tons). To ensure conformity with safe standards that stipulate chemical levels in ambient air and to achieve permissible risk levels, it is necessary to apply a differentiated approach to reductions in emissions (by 1.06 thousand tons overall), which targets specific chemicals, at other sources of ambient air pollution. Use of a differentiated approach to selecting optimal regulatory actions as regards all sources of ambient air pollution considering their share contributions will make it possible to define priority environmental protection activities, adjust the Complex plans and ensure conformity with safe standards and permissible risk levels in all residential areas.

For the purpose of not fulfilling tax obligations regarding the payment of taxes and duties due to the state budget, some economic entities use various methods whose goal is the decrease of taxable estate and tax obligations by avoiding the payment of profit tax, income tax, salary contributions and taxes assimilated to them, as well as of excises. Such fraud methods identified in practice regarding the decrease of collected VAT, artificial increase of deductible VAT and decrease of due profit tax emphasize the role of accounting in preventing and combating tax evasion and shall be presented hereinafter.

Background & Statement of the problem: The role of universities has evolved over time, adapting to the changing needs of both the market and students. Historically centered on teaching and scientific research, universities have increasingly focused on contributing to community development through sustainable activities. This shift requires sufficient support and guidance to ensure that innovative ideas are effectively nurtured and realized. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the role of universities in fostering an environment that encourages and facilitates the generation of innovative ideas. This involves paying close attention to the educational process, aligning it with competencies, and emphasizing the various forms of university support available for entrepreneurship. Methods: The study employs an analytical descriptive approach, utilizing both desk and digital research methods. This methodology allows for a theoretical description of the phenomenon under investigation by reviewing prominent research and studies on the role of universities in sustainable leadership and the challenges posed by globalization and emerging technologies. Results: The study revealed that sustainability and environmental issues should be integrated into university curricula. Furthermore, attention should be directed towards extracurricular activities that support environmental initiatives, and a culture of sustainability should be cultivated through deliberate and strategic actions. Conclusions (Recommendations and contributions): The study recommends that universities adopt "green" practices to promote sustainable entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainability into the core mission of higher education institutions. TAX benefits , *TAX exemption , *TAXATION , *INVESTORS , *ENTREPRENEURSHIP , *TAX reform ,WESTERN countries - Abstract
In developing economies, which aim to join the European Union in the upcoming future, entrepreneurial endeavors are important and defining for their economic growth. Most of the time, potential investors are incentivized to choose a particular market through tax benefits, tax exemptions, streamlined registration procedures, tax systems and less red tape. By means of panel data modeling, we investigated the relationship between entrepreneurship and taxation-related matters on a sample of six economies from the Western Balkans region during the period 1991‒2021. Overall, empirical results showed that increasing registration costs hindered the creation of new businesses in the region. Still, if other taxes payable by businesses increased while authorities provided substantial tax reliefs, the creation of new companies would continue. At national level, we found that taxation often fuels entrepreneurship and improves new business density rates. Relevant policy implications are also addressed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Boris Timofeevich Matienko (1929-2004) was a respected plant anatomist and physiologist in Soviet Moldova. Matienko's research was primarily on the growth, development, and senescence of cucurbits, as well as apples, plums, and other vegetable crops. His studies provided a wealth of information to those interested in the anatomic structure of pumpkins, squash, gourds, watermelon, and minor Cucurbitaceae. Using insightful and detailed descriptions, he depicted cellular changes of the fruit during development, aging, and senescence. Practical experiments on storage corroborated his detailed microscope studies. Matienko worked during a time when the problems of the agriculture sector in Moldova were immense and varied, and he faced structural and societal challenges that underscore his scientific accomplishments. The quality of cucurbits grown in Moldova and the region improved as a result of this research. He was widely respected by colleagues and the scientific community, and his work continues to provide insight to researchers of these important crops. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

‘Authorship’ in a research article is mostly determined on the basis of ‘substantial contribution,’ which has diverse definitions. The broader concept of contributorship is based on the multiple roles of the contributors, especially in interprofessional and collaborative research. Issues related to authorship include order of authorship, corresponding authorship, and co-contributorship. To prevent disputes, the authors should negotiate these early in the research.

SOCIAL justice , *BIBLICAL criticism , *FEMINIST criticism , *BIBLICAL figures , *WOMEN in the Bible , *WOMEN'S roles - Abstract
This article critiques the constructive roles of women in the lives of Moses and Boaz applying feminist biblical criticism as a theory. By critiquing the significant yet often downplayed contributions of women such as Jochebed, Miriam, Ruth and Naomi, the aim is to provide a more inclusive and multifaceted understanding of their roles in different biblical texts. In the process, feminist biblical criticism, as a theory, unmasks the pervasive influence of sexism in both the biblical texts and their interpretive traditions, contesting traditional readings that subjugate women's voices and agency. Ultimately, this article makes two notable findings. Firstly, the central role of Jochebed and Miriam in ensuring Moses' survival and rise to leadership underscores how their actions were fundamental to the unfolding of Israel's history. Secondly, the proactive agency of Ruth and Naomi demonstrated through their strategic decisions and mutual support, facilitated social and familial redemption and thereby transformed Boaz's life and legacy. These notable findings underline the indispensable contributions of women in the two biblical figures and call for a (re)consideration of their roles in biblical history and contemporary contexts. Inevitably, I conclude that by reclaiming the voices and experiences of women, this article advocates for a more unprejudiced (re)interpretation of sacred canon, promoting gender justice and inclusivity in contemporary religious and cultural practices. Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: Examining the constructive roles of women challenges male-orientated interpretations in theology and intersects with literary, historical, sociological, gender and cultural discourses, advancing inclusive and non-partisan understandings of biblical texts. HADITH , *MUSLIM scholars , *BINS - Abstract
The paper sheds light on a well-known Ethiopian scholar of Hadith, Shaykh Muhammad bin Ali Adam AlEthiopee. He had major contribution in Hadith literature. He was one of the few scholars who could truly be called a Muhaddith. Allah had bestowed upon him a comprehensive understanding of the Islamic 'Ulum and he strived hard to revive the science of Hadith. He dedicated his life to the dawah and research so that the Muslims may practice their Din as the earliest Muslims had practiced it and may avoid the deviations (Biddah) that have crept into the Muslim Ummah. He reawakened the Muslim scholars to the study of the Hadith. This is a short biography and an account on his works in Islamic Sciences. And specifically, his work in Hadith Sciences is mentioned and briefly explained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Narrative: The contributions to the health and healing sciences made by members of the chiropractic profession are recognised here. It seems that too often chiropractic is regarded as a form of manipulation rather than as a profession. There are however many contributions, scientific innovations, and clinical roles that have been and continue to be made by chiropractors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

50. "On becoming a peacebuilder": narratives of the Grade 10 learners.

- Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine how learners view peace and their role in peacebuilding. Peace is widely perceived as the absence of war and violence (Castro and Galace, 2010). The literature revealed that youths play an active role in peacebuilding. This study was designed to look into the journey of Grade 10 learners to becoming peacebuilders. Specifically, this sought answers to the following questions: What are the perceptions of the Grade 10 learners of peace? How do the Grade 10 learners contribute to peacebuilding? What are the learners' dreams and aspirations for a culture of peace? Design/methodology/approach: The research captured stories of the Grade 10 learners of a Filipino-Chinese school in Iloilo City who participated in the study voluntarily. The learners wrote an essay in one of their reflection sessions in social studies class completing the following phrases: Peace is ...; I am a Peacebuilder ...; My dreams and aspirations for a culture of peace .... The data gathered were analyzed following Creswell's framework in data analysis in qualitative research which suggests a linear, hierarchical approach. The themes generated were interpreted as the final process of the data analysis. Findings: Majority of the participants perceived peace positively rather than merely an absence of war. Peace means freedom. Moreover, peace improves society and brings in a new period of progress. Learners across cultures have common views of peace, and they believed that peacebuilding has to begin in themselves. Through positive action such as setting as a good example and influencing others to do the same, the learners contribute to peacebuilding. In times of conflict and misunderstanding, they act as agents of peace by being a mediator. During crisis in the community, they extended their helping hands to the needy wholeheartedly. Research limitations/implications: Consistent with the prevailing views of peace, learners perceived peace positively and negatively. It is interesting to note that most participants had a positive perception of peace, which demonstrated a more profound conception of the topic. Their broader perspectives on peace may have been influenced by the author, who taught the participants for two years and who began as a peace advocate and incorporated peace ideas into class discussions in some instances. The findings from this study might only be the tip of the iceberg and far from being definitive given the small number of participants and the researcher's relationship with them, which may have impacted their responses and created some concerns about authenticity and anonymity. Practical implications: This study upheld the claim of Gandhi that youths are agents of positive change (Del Felice and Wisler, 2007). Young people are potential peacebuilders. This study provided encouragement for the truth that we should not undervalue youth's ability to effect change. This can prompt greater discussion among scholars about peace in general inside the group, which might be viewed as being ignored on peace studies. Social implications: The participants' dreams and aspirations for a culture of peace went beyond just improving their own lives. They shared Gandhi and Rizal's aspirations for a better world and a habitable Philippines. Their narratives exhibited that they wished for a common good, which was uplifting. Their expectations and aspirations might have varied because of their economic situation and cultural orientation. Originality/value: Literatures revealed that youths play an active role in peacebuilding. In school, for instance, Jabor (2017) concluded that students are enablers and not only the prime recipients of peace process. In a bigger context, Del Felice and Wisler (2007) illustrated in their study how the youths spearheaded various organizations for the benefit of humanity. Despite the many attestations, the contributions of the youth to peacebuilding are still deemed understudied. Most of the studies were based on the dichotomous view of the youth: victims and perpetrators of violence (UNOY Peacebuilder, 2015). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
