Drawing in part on the work of Édouard Glissant, this article explores how the Raizal population of the San Andrés Archipelago in the Caribbean mobilises the concept of maritorio as an archipelagic geopoetic vessel with emancipatory potential. This concept disrupts dominant land/sea binaries that result from and are rooted in geopolitical mechanisms and colonial fantasies. The San Andrés Archipelago is administratively and politically part of Colombia, but the Raizal people of the Archipelago share a long colonial and postcolonial history with Black Creole people elsewhere in the Anglophone Caribbean, especially the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, based on diverse forms of economic, familial, and cultural exchange and marine mobilities. For many years, the status of the Archipelago was the basis of a dispute between Nicaragua and Colombia at the International Court of Justice, who ruled in 2012 that the islands were in fact Colombian while Nicaragua gained 75,000 km2 of sea. This ruling was devastating for the Raizales, fragmenting their maritorio and further thwarting Black mobilities and cultural exchange across the region. Legal‐geopolitical dislocations applied to the islands and the sea exacerbated structural conditions of racial and environmental injustice, while geopoetic responses by Raizal people to this state of affairs serve to confront colonial dispossession, ecological damage, and the ideological fixities of the Eurocentric nation‐state. Spanish is the second most common language among US children aged 5–17, with 26.8% speaking it at home. To foster cultural understanding and promote positive relationships, it's crucial to introduce young children to different languages and cultures. Preschool language education can cultivate respect and empathy, building more inclusive communities. Culturally responsive education equips children with skills to value diversity, creating a harmonious cultural climate. This article highlights the importance of learning another language (e.g., Spanish) and introduces Language Learning Circles (LCC) for preschoolers. The purpose of this phenomenological case study was to examine music education majors' lived experience of negotiating cultural differences in an international choral trip from the US to China. Eight music education majors from a music college in the eastern U.S. participated in this study. I collected three types of data describing their cultural exchange experience: participants' daily journals, and the research assistant's observation notes during the trip, and a series of focus group interviews after the trip. Through the process of epoché, phenomenological reduction, horizontalization, and structural synthesis, four themes emerged: (a) Explicit knowledge acceptance by superficial cultural engagement, (b) Elatedness over common musical characteristics, (c) Implicit othering attitude, and (d) Moments of self-reflexivity. In the essence of their cultural interactions, participants experienced dialectic tension between musical similarities and differences, surficial and deep cultural engagement, universal and non-universal consideration, and their centrality toward self and others. Human genomics research with indigenous peoples has often been characterised by tension between the ‘western’ science ideologies and indigenous peoples’ cultural beliefs in relation to their human genetic resources and data. This article explores this tension from the lens of the concept of indigenous peoples’ human genomic sovereignty and tests the applicability of the concept in Africa. The article achieves this by first highlighting the tension between ‘western’ science and indigenous peoples through three case studies from Canada, the USA, and South Africa. It then analyses indigenous peoples’ human genomic sovereignty in the USA and Canada and compares it with the notion of indigenous peoples’ sovereignty in Africa. Drawing on the behavioral consistency theory, we examine whether cultural embeddedness on cigarette packages as a sinful behavior window dressing affects environmental information credibility, and further investigate the moderating role of high-quality external audit (Big4 auditors). Using hand-collected data from China, our findings reveal that cultural embeddedness on cigarette packages at the province level is significantly negatively associated with corporate environmental information credibility, suggesting that cultural embeddedness on cigarette packages shapes unethical social atmosphere around firms, triggers managers to cover up environmental misconducts, and eventually mitigates environmental information credibility. Moreover, Big4 auditors weaken the negative relation between cultural embeddedness on cigarette packages and environmental information credibility. Above findings are robust to a variety of sensitivity tests using alternative proxies for cultural embeddedness on cigarette packages and environmental information credibility, and further our conclusions are still valid after using the propensity score matching method, two-stage instrumental variable OLS-TOBIT regression procedures, and Heckman two-stage regression approach to address the endogeneity issues. Furthermore, cultural embeddedness on cigarette packages significantly positively induces greenwashing. Lastly, our main findings are more pronounced for firms without pollution control departments, with lower investment in environmental technologies, with less media coverage and in provinces with lower legal enforcement. The Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, a treasure of China's and the world's cultural heritage, contains rich historical and cultural deposits and has left precious relics of the history of human art. Over centuries, the Mogao Caves have been affected by natural and human factors, resulting in irreversible fading and discoloration of many murals. In recent years, deep learning technology has shown great potential in the field of virtual mural color restoration. Therefore, this paper proposes a mural image color restoration method based on a reversible neural network. The method first employs an automatic reference selection module based on structural and texture similarity to choose suitable reference mural images for the faded murals. Then, it utilizes a reversible residual network to extract deep features of the mural images without information loss. Next, a channel refinement module is used to eliminate redundant information in the network channels. Finally, an unbiased color transfer module restores the color of the faded mural images. Compared to other image color restoration methods, the proposed method achieves superior color restoration effects while effectively preserving the original structure and texture details of the mural images. Compared to baseline methods, the Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), Feature Similarity Index (FSIM), and Perception-based Image Quality Evaluator (PIQE) values are improved by 7.97%, 3.46%, and 13.98%, respectively. The color restoration of the Dunhuang Mural holds significant historical, artistic, cultural, and economic values, and plays a positive role in the preservation and inheritance of Chinese culture, as well as in the promotion of cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Psychology and behavioral sciences lack diversity in their participant samples. In visual perception, more specifically, common practice assumes that the processes studied are fundamental and universal. In contrast, cultural psychology has accumulated evidence of cultural variability in visual perception. In face processing, for instance, this cultural variability may sabotage intercultural relations. Policies aim to increase diversity in research, supporting cultural psychology, and to increase awareness among professional workforces, as well as the general population, concerning how cultural variability may influence their interpretation of another's behavior. This article uses campaign reports and memoir literature to explore tsarist officers' views of masculinity—both their own and that of their opponents—during the conquest of the Caucasus, focusing particularly on the Nicolaevan era. It frames conquest as a form of cultural exchange and argues that tsarist officers' understandings of the gender order of both their own and combatant societies were a critical component of this cultural exchange. In particular, stereotypically feminine traits like mercy and gentleness were important to the cultural script of conquest in the Caucasus. To offer mercy implied the right to punish, a right which had to constantly be reasserted; the assertion of authority was deeply gendered and necessitated the subordination of local men. A case study of ritual humiliation during the conquest of the Caucasus illustrates how this worked in practice: disrupting the customary gender relations of a combatant society to remove opposing men from their authoritative role and installing an imperial officer at the top of the hierarchy. This article explores the utility of strategic membership researcher status in the case of Sino-German cross-cultural training courses to understand the paradoxical practices that reinforce and mitigate cross-cultural conflicts in transnational contexts. Drawing upon autoethnographic positioning analysis, I connect my own negative emotional experiences with positioning dynamics to reconstruct conflictual social events. This approach not only exposes the implicit field logic but also reveals the arrangement of social relations in an unexpected way. These findings highlight the epistemic potential of combining position-analytic and emotion-analytic reflexivity. There has been a significant growth in the number of international students enrolled in initial teacher education programmes for early childhood education in Aotearoa New Zealand (Education Counts, 2024). This reflects the increasing number of teachers from overseas entering the early childhood education workforce. Educational practices and pedagogy differ across cultures and contexts which might prompt a culturally responsive pedagogical reorientation for migrant teachers. In this article, we examine migrant teachers' readiness to teach from a strengths-based cultural perspective. As migrant teachers ourselves, we explore the likely challenges faced by teachers in relation to cultural shifts, understanding of the ECE curriculum, and the resulting tensions underpinning their pedagogical practices. Gija people in the East Kimberley community of Warmun (Western Australia) negotiate their engagement with pastoralism with varying degrees of primacy. Through ethnography and oral histories, I explore how Gija people manage pastoralism and its effects through acts of accommodation, adoption, refusal and innovation. I begin by outlining the development of the colonial pastoral industry in Western Australia, state and federal legislation that withheld and underpaid wages to Aboriginal pastoral workers and cattle‐killing practices and protective measures. I use ‘Kila’, the bovine species killed for local consumption, as an entry point to explore intercultural relations and Gija relative autonomy within this context. Analysing Kila etymologically and through an ethnographic case study involving its procurement, dissection, and distribution, I find that cooperation is implemented to enable the Kila event. Kila emerges as both a nexus for intercultural mutuality and as a facilitator of distinct opportunities for Gija social and cultural maintenance and recreation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Directionality in translation traditionally refers to whether translation occurs from the translator's second language into their first or vice versa. This paper seeks to broaden the concept of directionality in translation by examining China's “outward translation” (i.e., the translation of works for readers outside of China), and goes beyond linguistic inquiries to encompass multifaceted dimensions related to global cultural exchange. By exploring outward translation within the Chinese context, this study contends that research on directionality should transcend mere linguistic considerations and embrace a more comprehensive analysis. Drawing insights from the Chinese perspective and employing a spatial conceptualization, this paper posits that outward translation operates within a dialogical space characterized by mutual exchange and engagement between the source culture and the target culture. Within this dynamic space, translation agents (including translators, publishers, patrons, and so on) from both source and target cultures interact, fostering reciprocal relationships and facilitating cultural dialogue. In conclusion, the paper argues that outward translation should be better defined and understood as an area of research with the potential to address the imbalanced global translation flows from English to other less‐translated languages, thereby facilitating more diverse and inclusive global knowledge production and dissemination. The Kingdom of Navarre was a Christian kingdom located in the north of the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages. Its location on the west of the isthmus between the Iberian Peninsula and the European continent allowed an exchange of cultural currents. The main pottery production centres were in Estella, Lumbier, Pamplona, Tafalla, and Tudela. Ceramic pastes from various mediaeval sites were analysed for both elemental and mineralogical composition determination. The results were evaluated using Principal Component Analysis and allowed us to identify each production centre. Each manufacturing centre showed a different and characteristic composition of raw materials. Ceramics from Tudela were Ca-, Mg-, Na-, and Sr-rich. Ceramics from Estella were richer in Al, K, and Ti. Ca, Sc, and Sr contents were higher in Tafalla ceramics. Lumbier ceramics stood out for being enriched in Si, Mn, Fe, and Zr. Pamplona ceramics showed intermediate values. The analysis of samples from other Navarrese locations allowed us to begin to define what the commercial ceramic network in the Kingdom of Navarre was like during the Middle Ages. Therefore, two aims were defined for this paper: to characterise the ceramic pastes for each of the producing centres and to know where the ceramics were exported to. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the mid-7th century, in the Turfan region, the main type of funerary inscription changed from mubiao (tomb announcements) to muzhi (tomb epitaphs). This change is attributed to the influence of Central Plains' culture, which scholars have suggested was transmitted after the Tang Empire conquered the Qu's Gaochang kingdom and established the prefecture of Xizhou in the Turfan area. This article explores the reasons for this change from the perspective of regional interaction with a focus on the agency of the Turfan people in the process of cultural exchange. The article starts by defining the structure of mubiao and muzhi and proposes a new classification framework to sort the inscriptions according to how they were structured. After this sorting, it investigates the connections between each type of inscription and the time periods in which they were used. It then considers how each type of inscription refers to itself. I suggest that muzhi need to be understood by investigating the changes in the numbers of each type as well as the format and content of brick epitaphs in the mid-7th century. Many of the Gaochang elite were relocated to the two capitals after the fall of the Gaochang Kingdom; they were later moved back to Turfan, and it has been suggested that elements of Central Plains' epitaphs were introduced by them. However, the forms of the bricks and the locations of the brick epitaphs in tombs show a continuation of the traditions of the Gaochang kingdom. Turkey has been becoming more active in Central Asia recently. This activism entails increasing linkages in the economic, energy, and transport areas, as well as deepening cultural and political relations. Although there are some continuities, Turkey's new engagement with the region differs from its previous engagements in important ways. The region has also changed, as have extra-regional actors and their roles. This article illustrates the shifting global and regional contexts, and how these shifts have motivated the AKP government's renewal of interest in Central Asia. The new regional constellations provide both opportunities and challenges for Turkey's Central Asia engagement. For example, competition among the major powers and regional countries' quest to diversify their foreign policies provide Turkey with new opportunities, yet Turkey's complex relations with each of these actors and the challenge of balancing limits its return. This paper focuses on how individuals cut out unwanted members from their social circles, as seen in photo albums, and how this compares to practices on digital platforms. The study reflects on two distinct practices: 'Defacing in photography' as the practice of manipulation, distortion, and defacement of analogue photographs, and 'blocking on social media' as the practice of decision-making and content management on digital platforms, and discusses the similarities and discrepancies between them. Research draws on both in-depth analysis of various visual texts and structured interviews conducted with 22 participants of various ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds in relation to their personal experiences of these two acts. The findings show acts of defacing and blocking are often driven by desires for self-empowerment, self-awareness, and self-defense. The study draws attention to the coexistence of both restrictive and liberating potentials in the acts of defacing and blocking. The article proposes that, through its engagement with these two distinct acts of negation, individuals develop tailored strategies to satisfy their emotional requirements when interacting with traditional photographs and online social networks. This study explores whether South Koreans' superordinate identification with North Koreans leads to increased humanization of and empathy for North Koreans as well as reduced negative feelings toward North Koreans. This study also examines whether superordinate identification intensifies support for people-to-people exchanges and unification using an experiment. South Koreans' increased superordinate identification with North Koreans leads to greater humanization of the latter as well as less negative feelings toward them but does not affect support for unification. Sound as a medium of music is pre-structured in the social context in which it circulates, representing an aesthetic meta-level of the musical. As a socially pertinent concept, "sound" implies different references to the sonic material, including different ways of listening. The result of a cultural formatting process, sound manifests in formations that audibly and conceptually correspond to the processes through which societies in which they are anchored organise themselves. Although this has been present in all societies and cultures at all times, it is particularly evident in the technical shaping of sound in recording studios. Every recording is based on a sound design determined by the technical setup prior to the recording process. The concept of the dispositif developed by Michel Foucault offers a way of relating the meta-aesthetic, cultural pre-structuring of sonic material within the dominant sound formation and the resulting sound design to fundamental processes of social reproduction, cultural power relations, modes of subjectivation and subject forms. The productivity dispositif, the identity dispositif and the creativity dispositif describe three fundamental constellations within the framework of modern capitalism. China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is an ambitious, contentious, and world-spanning project. Using Chinese Communist Party (CCP) documents, this paper examines one of the stated purposes of the BRI: to address regional inequality between China's east and west, focusing upon Xinjiang. Through an analysis of regional economic data, the demographics of Xinjiang and Xinjiang governing bodies, and a case study of the Chinese steel industry, this paper shows that the BRI has so far failed to check increasing regional inequality in China and that job opportunities for local communities in Xinjiang are constrained by social and political factors. In this article the way in which current neo-fascism is penetrating education is analysed. For this purpose, a case study sample of three prominent figures was chosen linked to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), an organisation that has woven global networks and managed to have an important political presence worldwide: Steve Bannon (USA), Javier Milei (Argentina) and Santiago Abascal (Spain). The research methodology used was Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), examining the texts and documents produced by these figures regarding the debates on education. The results show a basic similarity, albeit centred on different specific focuses: a) the warning of a leftist threat in education, sometimes characterised as an effect of 'cultural Marxism'; b) a generalised rejection of educational proposals that seek to address cultural differences within schools and particularly with regard to sex education policies and the critical analysis of ethnic and cultural relations; c) a commitment to the 'freedom' of choice of individuals and families with regard to education, which consists of a project of educational privatisation. The conclusions of this research reflect the solid constitution of an international network of educational neo-fascism with a common agenda, with different implementation depending on the geographical and political context. China has used broadcast for international communication in Africa since 1949, an important bridge connecting China and Africa. As digital audio media, podcasts also serve communication on Africa-related topics. News media work as the intermediaries between the public and the nation, and news framing is significant for the public to understand China-Africa relations. Regarding the limitations of traditional framing analysis, this study used a data-driven computational method, the Analysis of Topic Model Networks (ANTMN), to examine the news framing in China Radio Internationals (CRI's) China Africa Talk. The findings revealed four frames in the podcast: cultural exchange, economic cooperation, sustainable development, and strategic cooperation, which indicates the efforts of China and Africa in building a community of shared future. Cultural exchange and sustainable development are two frames found in this study that highlight the differences in national propaganda content between podcasts and newspapers. Furthermore, podcasts in international communication, with digital media characteristics and young audiences, can promote the dialogue and communication between China and Africa. The vast area of the Himalayas has historically been an important region for multiethnic cultural interaction and exchanges. Due to multiple factors such as history and politics, the overall integrity of this region is always overlooked. This region has always had a special position and unique influence in academic circles both at home and abroad. This article searched for literature on relevant academic websites such as CNKI and Springer, and used research methods such as literature research and Delphi to examine the research achievements of the Himalayan ethnic culture in both the East and the West. Research concerning Himalayan national culture in both the East and the West has facilitated many important academic achievements. By examining research results pertaining to Himalayan national culture from both the East and the West, this paper highlights the fact that Western Himalayan research has undergone enlightenment in terms of rapid development and in-depth research. For instance, the digital age has led to a diversified and multitopic academic process. However, in China, cross-regional national research on culture focused initially on the Tibetan Yi Corridor, the Ancient Tea-Horse Road and the Southern Silk Road in the beginning and subsequently emphasized multiethnic cultural exchanges across the Himalayan region. In recent years, an increasing number of research results have shown that attention to the process by which Himalayan social and cultural integrity research develops has gradually increased. The research delves into the intricate web of linguistic borrowings in trade terminologies between Ancient Indian languages (Sanskrit, Prakrit) and Egyptian languages (Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs, Demotic script) spanning from approximately 3300 BCE to 500 CE. Through a meticulous analysis of selected literary texts and inscriptions, including the Hathigumpha Inscription, Rudradaman I Inscription, Junagadh Rock Inscriptions, Nasik Cave Inscriptions, Rosetta Stone, Satirical Papyrus, and Turin Taxation Papyrus, the study unravels the linguistic evolution and cultural exchanges embedded within ancient trade networks. Contextualizing these linguistic borrowings within the historical framework of trade routes, maritime activities, and economic exchanges, the research sheds light on the nuances of communication and adaptation in commercial interactions. By employing rigorous research methodologies and comparative studies, the findings offer a comprehensive understanding of how language served as a bridge for commerce, diplomacy, and cultural exchange between these ancient civilizations. This study not only contributes to the fields of linguistic history and ancient trade studies but also offers valuable insights into the dynamic interplay of language, trade, and cultural connectivity in the ancient world. Mediterranean countries are a cauldron of cultural exchange, with a strong emphasis on wild plants in cuisine traditions. Many of these plants belong to the family Apiaceae. The common climate determines the common range of distribution. While many plants have wide distribution, the range of distribution of others is restricted to Western Mediterranean or North Africa. This review investigates wild plants from the family Apiaceae traditionally used as food in 13 study sites—11 countries in the Mediterranean and adjacent territories—the mainland and 3 islands. The aim is to trace patterns of native distribution versus consumption. As a result, 81 wild umbellifers are listed, traditionally used as food. Their consumption and distribution patterns are described and discussed. Interestingly in 8 of the 13 study sites (61.5%) are recorded 50 plant taxa (66.7% of all wild umbellifers, traditionally used as food) which are consumed in only one particular country. These are as follows: 8 taxa in Morocco, 9 taxa in Spain, 2 taxa in Sicily, 3 taxa in Bulgaria 3 taxa in Crete, 8 taxa in Armenia, 14 taxa in Turkey, and 3 taxa in Jordan. However, these 50 restrictedly consumed plants are distributed in more than one country (except 15 taxa, which are endemics). Many of the plants that are used in certain countries are not consumed by the neighboring people. The results of the two statistical tests, namely Jaccard index and heatmap clustering (double dendrogram), are discussed. The presence of an outlier, such as Bulgaria, which shares borders, history, and culture with Greece and Turkey, emphasizes the importance of local climate for plant distribution and consumption over cultural interactions. The same was observed for some pairs of countries, such as Spain and Morrocco and Turkey and Armenia, although they had the highest number of common plants that are both distributed and consumed as food. This article analyses the state-sponsored efforts of cross-cultural communication between Poland and China in the early 1950s. These exchanges took the form of lavishly sponsored tours of each country’s best folkloristic song-and-dance troupes. These tours were based on a shared vision of a global socialist unity that could overcome the ‘imperialistic’ divisions of race, nation and class. This article demonstrates how in both countries intellectuals and activists engaged in a parallel development of folklore for their political ends, and how the experiences of past suffering and struggle in both countries were used to maximize the emotional and political impact of these contacts. Immigration has been shown to drive ethnocentrism and anti‐globalization attitudes in native‐born populations. Yet understanding how global integration shapes intercultural relations also necessitates clear evidence on how migration affects the attitudes of migrants. We argue that migration can foster tolerance, cosmopolitan identities, and support for international cooperation among migrants who experience sustained contact with other cultural groups. We evaluate this theory with the first randomized controlled trial resulting in overseas migration, which connected individuals in India with job opportunities in the Persian Gulf region's hospitality sector. Two years after the program began, individuals in the treatment group were significantly more accepting of ethnic, cultural, and national out‐groups. Migration also bolstered support for international cooperation and cultivated cosmopolitan identities. Qualitative and quantitative evidence links these changes to intercultural contact overseas. By focusing on migrants rather than native‐born individuals, our study illustrates how cross‐border mobility can facilitate rather than undermine global integration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aims to contribute to the debate on the process of socio-spatial formation and urban space production in the city of Porto Velho, the capital of the state of Rondônia, an Amazonian city resulting from national and international frontier incorporation processes. In this sense, the analyses presented here were directed towards the recovery of the historical process of constituting this agglomeration, with a temporal focus on the period from the 19th century to the present day. This article highlighted the aspects that guided the city's formation, emphasizing the economic, political, social, and cultural relations that contributed to the occupation of space, demonstrating that the spatial dynamics of Porto Velho have been associated with economic cycles and external activities since the city's inception, a condition that persists. Taking three questions as essential, interculturality, the globalization of malaise and the extension of the perception produced by the media, this article intends to observe how the use of digital media has produced an effect of malaise on human beings. hypermodern, just as they seem to globalize, instead of riches, only other evils. In addition, to reflect on how the development of intercultural relations can emerge as actions that, if they do not solve these problems, at least indicate ways forward. This research will be exploratory and, methodologically, will use the concepts of media theory to understand the use of the media. As worldwide migration continues to grow, valid and reliable instruments are needed to assess the psychological processes that influence the successful management of intercultural relations in different sociopolitical contexts. In this study, we test whether the original Multicultural Ideology Scale (MCI) required a revision to remain 'fit for purpose' in the current culturally plural context of the UK (MCI-r). Specifically, six subscales are proposed to underlie the construct of a multicultural ideology: Cultural Maintenance, Equity/Inclusion, Social interaction, Essentialistic Boundaries, Extent of Differences, and Consequences of Diversity. With data from 300 UK nationals, we tested the psychometric properties of the MCI-r using various confirmatory factor analysis techniques to estimate the scale's factor structure followed by convergent and discriminant validity tests. The results indicated that a 4-factor solution (Cultural Maintenance, Equity/Inclusion, Social interaction, and Consequences of Diversity) fitted the data best. All four subscales demonstrated adequate internal consistency as well as convergent and discriminant validity. All four subscales were also negatively correlated with a right-wing political orientation, whilst especially Social Interaction and Consequences of Diversity were positively associated with intergroup contact frequency across domains (work, family and friends and/or acquaintances). Finally, UK participants with personal migratory experiences reported a stronger belief in positive consequences of multiculturalism and more support for Social Interactions between members of different ethnic groups. Overall, findings provide first insights into the applicability of the MCI-r as a reliable and valid tool for the assessment of multiculturalism within the present UK context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Catholicism during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties is the most fascinating chapter in the development history of Christian culture in China. Apostolate through books emerged as a prominent method of Sino-West cultural exchange during that time. Apostolate through books by Catholicism was realized by means of translation practice, leading to a notable religious influence. Based on this perspective, this paper discusses the history and connotation of apostolate through books, particularly focusing on the characteristics of apostolate through books by Catholicism during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. In achieving this, this research shows the translation motivation and translation effect of apostolate through books during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. Furthermore, this paper emphasizes that the translation practice of apostolate through books by Catholicism has laid a good foundation for the sinicization and acceptance of Catholicism in China, highlighting the relationship between apostolate through books by Catholicism and the sinicization of Christian culture, so as to enlighten the internationalization of religious culture. The Buddhist "Knotted Thread" originates from the ancient Indian practice of venerating sacred threads. In Indian culture, sacred threads symbolize identity and status and possess functions such as exorcism, healing, disaster prevention, blessing, protection, and divination. Initially, Buddhism opposed the use of sacred threads by its followers. However, as Buddhism evolved, it began to adopt this and other practices. Buddhist threads could be monochromatic or multicolored, with five-colored threads (五色縷) having significant cultural connections to China. In Buddhism, the five colors typically consist of four primary colors (四本色; blue, yellow, red, and white) plus an additional color. The difference between the Buddhist and traditional Chinese five colors lies in the selection of the fifth color. The five-colored threads in Buddhism have various combinations, such as blue, yellow, red, white, and black; blue, yellow, red, white, and purple; and blue, yellow, red, white and green. With Buddhism's spread into China, to align with traditional Chinese notions of five colors, the Buddhist five-colored threads gradually standardized to blue, yellow, red, white, and black. This paper presents a study of the San Isidro archaeological site in El Salvador, providing significant insights into the development of Preclassic settlements in the region. Through analysis of ceramic sequences, radiocarbon dating, and excavations, the study traces the site's evolution and its contextual significance within Mesoamerican and Isthmo-Colombian spheres. We report on the discovery of over 50 mounds constructed around 400 b.c., indicating the emergence of a complex social structure at that time. The unearthed artifacts, including jade objects and Bolinas-type figurines, suggest cultural exchange with often distant regions of Mesoamerica and the Isthmo-Colombian area. This research not only contributes to understanding the chronological and geographic development of San Isidro but also highlights the site's role in broader Preclassic Mesoamerican cultural dynamics. This research examines public opinion on Twitter during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, focusing on the interplay between sport, communication, and soft power. It sheds light on the online discourse surrounding a global sporting event by analyzing tweet frequency, sentiment changes, prevalent topics, and the most popular tweets surrounding controversial events. Political discussions surrounding the World Cup initially dominated but gradually declined, shifting the focus to sporting achievements and cultural exchange. Throughout the tournament, the host country, European countries participating in the World Cup, and fans contested the narrative surrounding the event. However, the study highlights how celebrities and public figures had a more significant impact on shaping conversations about sports, cultural exchange, and sociopolitical issues. Kolkata in India has a promenade riverine system. In it, the river Ghats are promenade structures that create communications between a river and its people. The local vernacular communities living close to them have closely knitted socio-cultural relationships with the river Ghats, which help to build their identity. In fact, they act as the thresholds between the rivers and the cities. The Baghbazar Ghat, with its profound religious and cultural significance has been a hub for the traditional practices of the local communities. However, the changing dynamics of these practices, and the gradual abandonment of the Ghats pose a threat to their conservation and protection. This research examines the issue of the conservation of the river Ghats and their socio-cultural relationships with the local communities. It examines the history and different social practices associated with the river Ghats in the past and today. The study uses a mixed-method approach to reveal the socio-cultural interactions between the local communities and the river Ghats. It also employs observations and interviews with the local communities to unearth the significant role the river Ghat plays in the socio-cultural practices. Maps, drawings and charts have been created to analyze the data. The paper concludes that the river ghats play a significant role in the socio-cultural practices and identifies them as the backbone of the Kolkata city that fosters the traditional practices. Austronesian is the only large language family in the Pacific Rim Islands in the world. Its cultural continuity, which spans thousands of years, has attracted multi-disciplinary attention, thus becoming a major issue in exploration of the origin and development of human civilization. This paper shows that the Austronesians have utilized the human media identity of "nature users" to deal with maritime history and culture. In an "oral memory," Austronesian people have turned the laws of nature into a visual memory language similar to that in comic books, thus giving myths, legends, and rituals "humanized and expanded media contents." Their marine civilization developed in the course of socialization and features belief in and respect for nature. This process is a model of the continuity of a human civilization characterized by "human-nature interaction." The marine civilization originating in the southeast coast of China is the foundation of the long history of Chinese civilization. As an integral component of legal culture, legal concepts possess distinct cultural characteristics. Translating legal concepts between different cultures to facilitate effective cultural exchange and mutual understanding poses a significant challenge for legal translators. This paper examines Yan Fu's Chinese translation of "natural law", a key concept in Montesquieu's classic The Spirit of Laws, as a case study to analyze the connection between legal translation and cultural traditions in the socio-historical contexts of the early 20th century China. By analyzing Yan's choice of words, the paper unveils how Yan Fu reinterpreted Western natural law from both religious and ethical perspectives, thereby creating a dynamic dialog between Sino-Western legal cultural traditions.
