Heterogeneity of the cingulate cortex is evident in multiple dimensions including anatomy, function, connectivity, and involvement in networks and diseases. Using the recently developed functional connectivity gradient approach and resting-state functional MRI data, we found three functional connectivity gradients that captured distinct dimensions of cingulate hierarchical organization. The principal gradient exhibited a radiating organization with transitions from the middle toward both anterior and posterior parts of the cingulate cortex and was related to canonical functional networks and corresponding behavioral domains. The second gradient showed an anterior–posterior axis across the cingulate cortex and had prominent geometric distance dependence. The third gradient displayed a marked differentiation of subgenual and caudal middle with other parts of the cingulate cortex and was associated with cortical morphology. Aside from providing an updated framework for understanding the multifaceted nature of cingulate heterogeneity, the observed hierarchical organization of the cingulate cortex may constitute a novel research agenda with potential applications in basic and clinical neuroscience. Background: There is bidirectional communication between the gut microbiota and the brain. Empirical evidence has demonstrated sex differences in both the gut microbiome and the brain. However, the effects of sex on the gut microbiota-brain associations have yet to be determined. We aim to elucidate the sex-specific effects of gut microbiota on brain and cognition. Methods: One hundred fifty-seven healthy young adults underwent brain structural, perfusion, functional and diffusion MRIs to measure gray matter volume (GMV), cerebral blood flow (CBF), functional connectivity strength (FCS) and white matter integrity, respectively. Fecal samples were collected and 16S amplicon sequencing was utilized to assess gut microbial diversity. Correlation analyses were conducted to test for sex-dependent associations between microbial diversity and brain imaging parameters, and mediation analysis was performed to further characterize the gut microbiota-brain-cognition relationship. Results: We found that higher gut microbial diversity was associated with higher GMV in the right cerebellum VI, higher CBF in the bilateral calcarine sulcus yet lower CBF in the left superior frontal gyrus, higher FCS in the bilateral paracentral lobule, and lower diffusivity in widespread white matter regions in males. However, these associations were absent in females. Of more importance, these neuroimaging biomarkers significantly mediated the association between gut microbial diversity and behavioral inhibition in males. Conclusions: These findings highlight sex as a potential influential factor underlying the gut microbiota-brain-cognition relationship, and expose the gut microbiota as a biomarker-driven and sex-sensitive intervention target for mental disorders with abnormal behavioral inhibition. Despite remarkable success in identifying genetic risk factors for depression, there are still open questions about the exact genetic mechanisms underlying certain disease phenotypes, such as brain structural and functional impairments. Comprehensive multi-modal neuroimaging meta-analyses were conducted to examine changes in brain structure and function in drug-naive first-episode patients with major depressive disorder (DF-MDD). Combined with the Allen Human Brain Atlas, transcriptome-neuroimaging spatial association analyses were performed to identify genes whose expression related to these brain structural and functional changes, followed by a range of gene functional signature analyses. Meta-analyses revealed gray matter atrophy in the insula, temporal pole, cerebellum and postcentral gyrus, and a complex pattern of hyper-function in the temporal pole and hypo-function in the cuneus/precuneus, angular gyrus and lingual gyrus in DF-MDD. Moreover, these brain structural and functional changes were spatially associated with the expression of 1194 and 1733 genes, respectively. Importantly, there were commonalities and differences in the two gene sets and their functional signatures including functional enrichment, specific expression, behavioral relevance, and constructed protein-protein interaction networks. The results merit further verification using a large sample of DF-MDD. Network neuroscience has broadly conceptualized the functions of the brain as complex communication within and between large‐scale neural networks. Nevertheless, whether and how the gut microbiota influence functional network connectivity that in turn impact human behaviors has yet to be determined. We collected fecal samples from 157 healthy young adults and used 16S sequencing to assess gut microbial diversity and enterotypes. Large‐scale inter‐ and intranetwork functional connectivity was measured using a combination of resting‐state functional MRI data and independent component analysis. Sleep quality and core executive functions were also evaluated. Then, we tested for potential associations between gut microbiota, functional network connectivity and behaviors. We found significant associations of gut microbial diversity with internetwork functional connectivity between the executive control, default mode and sensorimotor systems, and intranetwork connectivity of the executive control system. Moreover, some internetwork functional connectivity mediated the relations of microbial diversity with sleep quality, working memory, and attention. In addition, there was a significant effect of enterotypes on intranetwork connectivity of the executive control system, which could mediate the link between enterotypes and executive function. Our findings not only may expand existing biological knowledge of the gut microbiota‐brain‐behavior relationships from the perspective of large‐scale functional network organization, but also may ultimately inform a translational conceptualization of how to improve sleep quality and executive functions through the regulation of gut microbiota. Previous research has demonstrated that serum lipid profile is associated with cognitive function as well as brain structure and function in middle-aged, elderly, and clinical populations. However, the nature and extent of lipids-brain-cognition relationships in young adulthood are largely unknown. In this study, 157 healthy young adults underwent resting-state functional MRI scans. Functional connectivity between and within 14 functional networks were calculated using independent component analysis. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected to measure serum lipids. Working memory was assessed using a 3-back task. Linear regression, correlation, and mediation analyses were conducted to test for potential associations between serum lipids, inter- and intranetwork functional connectivity, and working memory performance. We found that higher serum triglyceride (TG) level was correlated with stronger connectivity between left frontoparietal and ventral attention networks, between right frontoparietal and dorsal attention networks, between right frontoparietal and dorsal sensorimotor networks, between right frontoparietal and lateral visual networks, and between salience (SN) and ventral sensorimotor (vSMN) networks, as well as lower connectivity between posterior default mode and left frontoparietal networks, between left frontoparietal and medial visual networks, and between ventral attention and dorsal sensorimotor networks. In addition, higher SN-vSMN connectivity was related to lower 3-back accuracy. More importantly, the relationship between serum TG and 3-back accuracy was mediated by SN-vSMN connectivity. Our findings not only may expand existing knowledge regarding serum lipids-brain-cognition relations from the perspective of large-scale functional network organization but also may inform a translational conceptualization of how to improve cognitive function through regulating serum lipids. Neuroimaging studies have linked inter-individual variability in the brain to individualized personality traits. However, only one or several aspects of personality have been effectively predicted based on brain imaging features. The objective of this study was to construct a reliable prediction model of personality in a large sample by using connectome-based predictive modeling (CPM), a recently developed machine learning approach. High-quality resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data of 810 healthy young participants from the Human Connectome Project dataset were used to construct large-scale brain networks. Personality traits of the five-factor model (FFM) were assessed by the NEO Five Factor Inventory. We found that CPM successfully and reliably predicted all the FFM personality factors (agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness and neuroticism) other than extraversion in novel individuals. At the neural level, we found that the personality-associated functional networks mainly included brain regions within default mode, frontoparietal executive control, visual and cerebellar systems. Although different feature selection thresholds and parcellation strategies did not significantly influence the prediction results, some findings lost significance after controlling for confounds including age, gender, intelligence and head motion. Our finding of robust personality prediction from an individual's unique functional connectome may help advance the translation of 'brain connectivity fingerprinting' into real-world personality psychological settings. Ethyl methyl carbonate is selective synthesized from dimethyl carbonate and ethanol via catalytic reactive distillation (RD) over heterogeneous MgO/HZSM‐5. It is shown that 2.3%MgO/HZSM‐5 catalyst has high catalytic activity with 99.4% conversion of ethanol (EtOH) and 98.1% selectivity to EMC, in a RD column. The prepared catalysts is characterized by XRD, SEM, N2 adsorption‐desorption CO2‐TPD and NH3‐TPD. The high performance of this catalyst is attributed to high basicity. According to the results of CO2‐TPD, this catalyst total basicity is 1.72 mmol/g. Background Microbial contamination is a serious challenge in the food industry. With the increasing demand for fresh, nutritious and healthy food, novel techniques for microbial inactivation are highly needed. By absorbing photoenergy, titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) based photocatalyst can produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) that are capable of inactivating microorganisms. Scope and approach This review summarizes recent research developments of TiO 2 photocatalysis (TPC) for antibacterial applications in liquid, gas and solid systems in the food industry. Basic principles of TPC, the mechanism of photocatalytic inactivation, and strategies for improving photoactivity are described, and applications of TPC for decomposing organic substances are presented. Furthermore, applications of combining TPC with other technologies are also discussed. Conclusions and key findings : The review shows that TPC technology has the ability to inactivate foodborne microorganisms, but with some drawbacks such as catalyst deactivation and low utilization of visible light. Modification can widen the light response into visible range and improve the photoactivity. The combined technologies can enhance the effectiveness of microbial inactivation. The angular gyrus (AG), given its rich connectivity and its location where multisensory information converges, is a functionally and anatomically heterogeneous structure. Using the state‐of‐the‐art functional gradient approach and transcription‐neuroimaging association analysis, we sought to determine whether there is an overarching hierarchical organization of the AG and if so, how it is modulated by the underlying genetic architecture. Resting‐state functional MRI data of 793 healthy subjects were obtained from discovery and validation datasets. Functional gradients of the AG were calculated based on the voxel‐wise AG‐to‐cerebrum functional connectivity patterns. Combined with the Allen Human Brain Atlas, we examined the spatial correlations between the AG functional gradient and gene expression. The dominant gradient topography showed a dorsoanterior–ventroposterior hierarchical organization of the AG, which was related to its intrinsic geometry. Concurrently, AG functional subdivisions corresponding to canonical functional networks (behavioral domains) were distributed along the dominant gradient in a hierarchical manner, that is, from the default mode network (abstract cognition) at one extreme to the visual and sensorimotor networks (perception and action) at the other extreme. Remarkably, we established a link between the AG dominant gradient and gene expression, with two gene sets strongly contributing to this link but diverging on their functional annotation and specific expression. Our findings represent a significant conceptual advance in AG functional organization, and may introduce novel approaches and testable questions to the investigation of AG function and anatomy in health and disease. A series of mesogen-jacketed liquid crystalline polymers, poly{2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutyl 4′-hydroxy-2-vinylbiphenyl-4-carboxylate} (PF3C m, where m is the number of carbon atoms in the alkoxy groups, and m = 1, 4, 6, and 8), the side chain of which contains a biphenyl core with a fluorocarbon substituent at one end and an alkoxy unit of varying length on the other end, were designed and successfully synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization. For comparison, poly{butyl 4′-hydroxy-2-vinylbiphenyl-4-carboxylate} (PC4C m), similar to PF3C m but with a butyl group instead of the fluorocarbon substituent, was also prepared. Differential scanning calorimetric results reveal that the glass transition temperatures ( Tgs) of the two series of polymers decrease as m increases and Tgs of the fluorocarbon-substituted polymers are higher than those of the corresponding butyl-substituted polymers. Wide-angle X-ray diffraction measurements show that the mesophase structures of these polymers are dependent on the number of the carbon atoms in the fluorocarbon substituent and the property of the other terminal substituent. Polymers with fluorocarbon substituents enter into columnar nematic phases when m ≥ 4, whereas the polymer PF3C1 exhibits no liquid crystallinity. For polymers with butyl substituents, columnar nematic phases form when the number of carbon atoms at both ends of the side chain is not equal at high temperatures and disappear after the polymers are cooled to ambient temperature. However, when the polymer has the same number of carbon atoms at both ends of the side chain, a hexagonal columnar phase develops, and this phase remains after the polymer is cooled. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Symptom of ventricular hypertrophy caused by cardiac troponin T (TNNT2) mutations is mild, while patients often showed high incidence of sudden cardiac death. The 92nd arginine to glutamine mutation (R92Q) of cTnT was one of the mutant hotspots in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). However, there are no such human disease models yet. To solve this problem, we generated TNNT2 R92Q mutant hESC cell lines (heterozygote or homozygote) using TALEN mediated homologous recombination in this study. After directed cardiac differentiation, we found a relative larger cell size in both heterozygous and homozygous TNNT2 R92Q hESC-cardiomyocytes. Expression of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase2a (SERCA2a) were downregulated, while myocyte specific enhancer factor 2c (MEF2c) and the ratio of beta myosin to alpha myosin heavy chain (MYH7/MYH6) were increased in heterozygous TNNT2 R92Q hESC-cardiomyocytes. TNNT2 R92Q mutant cardiomyocytes exhibited efficient responses to heart-related pharmaceutical agents. We also found TNNT2 R92Q heterozygous mutant cardiomyocytes showed increased calcium sensitivity and contractility. Further, engineered heart tissues (EHTs) prepared by combining rat decellularized heart extracellular matrices with heterozygous R92Q mutant cardiomyocytes showed similar drug responses as to HCM patients and increased sensitivity to caspofungin-induced cardiotoxicity. Using RNA-sequencing of TNNT2 R92Q heterozygous mutant cardiomyocytes, we found dysregulation of calcium might participated in the early development of hypertrophy. Prior studies have discussed rapid eye movement (REM) sleep disturbance as a potential endophenotype of major depressive disorder (MDD). However, the neural substrates underlying the percentage of REM sleep duration (REM%) and its association with disease progression in MDD remain unclear. One hundred and fourteen MDD patients and 74 healthy controls (HCs) underwent resting-state functional and perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans as well as overnight polysomnography examination to assess brain function and REM%, with 48 patients completing follow-up visits. Correlation and mediation analyses were conducted to investigate the associations among baseline REM%, multimodal brain imaging measures, and the improvement of depressive symptoms at follow-up in MDD. We found voxel-wise correlations between baseline REM% and multimodal brain imaging metrics in many brain regions involved in sensorimotor, visual processing, emotion, and cognition in patients with MDD. Moreover, the baseline REM% was correlated with the improvement of depressive symptoms from acute to remitted status in patients through regulating brain activity in the left inferior temporal gyrus and cerebral blood flow in the bilateral paracentral lobule. Our findings help to identify the neural underpinnings of REM% in depression and highlight REM% as a potential prognostic biomarker to predict disease progression. Lifelong premature ejaculation (LPE) has been linked to altered brain function and structure. Although the middle temporal gyrus (MTG) is consistently more affected in LPE, its functional and structural changes have yet to be determined at the subregional level. To explore the functional and structural changes of MTG in LPE at the subregional level based on a combined analysis of multimodal magnetic resonance imaging data. 25 patients with LPE and 21 healthy controls underwent resting-state functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging scans. The MTG was parcellated into the anterior part of the MTG (aMTG), middle part of the MTG, posterior part of the MTG, and sulcus part of the MTG. Resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) and gray matter volume (GMV) of each MTG subregion were calculated and compared between the 2 groups. The functional and structural changes of MTG at the subregional level were assessed in patients with LPE and controls, as well as the correlation of them with premature ejaculation diagnostic tool and Beck Depression Inventory. Despite similar rsFC patterns of each MTG subregion in both groups, quantitative comparison analyses revealed that patients with LPE showed increased rsFC between the left aMTG and the right cuneus (0.34 ± 0.12 vs 0.17 ± 0.17), between the right aMTG and the right parahippocampal gyrus (0.36 ± 0.16 vs 0.15 ± 0.10), and between the right middle MTG and the left MTG (0.40 ± 0.14 vs 0.18 ± 0.15) relative to controls (P <.05, cluster-level family-wise error corrected). Moreover, validation analyses revealed that these results remained significant after adjusting for depression. However, there were no significant group differences in GMV in all the MTG subregions (P >.05, Bonferroni corrected). In addition, no significant correlations between rsFC and GMV of the MTG subregions and the clinical variables were found in patients with LPE (P >.05, Bonferroni corrected). Functional hyperconnectivity in the MTG subregions may facilitate a more sophisticated understanding of the neuropathological mechanism underlying LPE. There are no previous studies examining functional and structural changes in LPE at the MTG subregional level. The main limitation is the small sample size. We present evidence that individuals with LPE have a selective functional hyperconnectivity yet preserved structural integrity in the MTG subregions, which may facilitate a more sophisticated understanding of the neuropathological mechanism underlying LPE by highlighting the critical role of the MTG in this disorder. Patients with neuromyelitis optica (NMO) have shown structural and functional impairments in the visual cortex. We aimed to characterize subregional grey matter volume (GMV) and resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) changes in the visual cortex in NMO. Thirty-seven NMO patients and forty-two controls underwent structural and functional MRI scans. The GMV and rsFC of each visual subregion were compared between the groups. Compared with controls, NMO patients had GMV reductions in the bilateral V1, V2, V3d, VP, and LO and in the left V3A. In canonical visual pathways, the relatively low-level subregions showed more significant GMV reductions than did the high-level ones. Regardless of GMV correction, NMO patients showed reduced rsFC in the bilateral LO and V4v and in the left V2. The GMVs of the bilateral V1 and LO and of the left V2 and V3d were negatively correlated with clinical disability in NMO patients; these correlation coefficients were associated with hierarchical positions in the visual pathways. These findings suggest that in NMO, the low-level visual subregions have more severe structural damage; structural damage is not the only factor affecting rsFC alterations of visual subregions; GMV reduction in the low-level visual subregions has the highest predictive value for clinical disability. The precuneus shows considerable heterogeneity in multiple dimensions including anatomy, function, and involvement in brain disorders. Leveraging the state-of-the-art functional gradient approach, we aimed to investigate the hierarchical organization of the precuneus, which may hold promise for a unified understanding of precuneus heterogeneity. Resting-state functional MRI data from 793 healthy individuals were used to discover and validate functional gradients of the precuneus, which were calculated based on the voxel-wise precuneus-to-cerebrum functional connectivity patterns. Then, we further explored the potential relationships of the precuneus functional gradients with cortical morphology, intrinsic geometry, canonical functional networks, and behavioral domains. We found that the precuneus principal and secondary gradients showed dorsoanterior-ventral and ventroposterior-dorsal organizations, respectively. Concurrently, the principal gradient was associated with cortical morphology, and both the principal and secondary gradients showed geometric distance dependence. Importantly, precuneus functional subdivisions corresponding to canonical functional networks (behavioral domains) were distributed along both gradients in a hierarchical manner, i.e., from the sensorimotor network (somatic movement and sensation) at one extreme to the default mode network (abstract cognitive functions) at the other extreme for the principal gradient and from the visual network (vision) at one end to the dorsal attention network (top-down control of attention) at the other end for the secondary gradient. The diverse functional roles of the insula may emerge from its heavy connectivity to an extensive network of cortical and subcortical areas. Despite several previous attempts to investigate the hierarchical organization of the insula by applying the recently developed gradient approach to insula‐to‐whole brain connectivity data, little is known about whether and how there is variability across connectivity gradients of the insula to different cerebral systems. Resting‐state functional MRI data from 793 healthy subjects were used to discover and validate functional connectivity gradients of the insula, which were computed based on its voxel‐wise functional connectivity profiles to distinct cerebral systems. We identified three primary patterns of functional connectivity gradients of the insula to distinct cerebral systems. The connectivity gradients to the higher‐order transmodal associative systems, including the prefrontal, posterior parietal, temporal cortices, and limbic lobule, showed a ventroanterior‐dorsal axis across the insula; those to the lower‐order unimodal primary systems, including the motor, somatosensory, and occipital cortices, displayed radiating transitions from dorsoanterior toward both ventroanterior and dorsoposterior parts of the insula; the connectivity gradient to the subcortical nuclei exhibited an organization along the anterior–posterior axis of the insula. Apart from complementing and extending previous literature on the heterogeneous connectivity patterns of insula subregions, the presented framework may offer ample opportunities to refine our understanding of the role of the insula in many brain disorders. The human sensorimotor cortex has multiple subregions showing functional commonalities and differences, likely attributable to their connectivity profiles. However, the molecular substrates underlying such connectivity profiles are unclear. Here, transcriptome‐neuroimaging spatial correlation analyses were performed between transcriptomic data from the Allen human brain atlas and resting‐state functional connectivity (rsFC) of 24 fine‐grained sensorimotor subregions from 793 healthy subjects. Results showed that rsFC of six sensorimotor subregions were associated with expression measures of six gene sets that were specifically expressed in brain tissue. These sensorimotor subregions could be classified into the polygenic‐ and oligogenic‐modulated subregions, whose rsFC were related to gene sets diverging on their numbers (hundreds vs. dozens) and functional characteristics. First, the former were specifically expressed in multiple types of neurons and immune cells, yet the latter were not specifically expressed in any cortical cell types. Second, the former were preferentially expressed during the middle and late stages of cortical development, while the latter showed no preferential expression during any stages. Third, the former were prone to be enriched for general biological functions and pathways, but the latter for specialized biological functions and pathways. Fourth, the former were enriched for neuropsychiatric disorders, whereas this enrichment was absent for the latter. Finally, although the identified genes were commonly associated with sensorimotor behavioral processes, the polygenic‐modulated subregions associated genes were additionally related to vision and dementia. These findings may advance our understanding of the functional homogeneity and heterogeneity of the human sensorimotor cortex from the perspective of underlying genetic architecture. We computed functional connectivity density (FCD) using resting-state functional MRI data to examine their associations with behavioral inhibition ability measured using a Go/No-Go task across a large cohort of 510 healthy young adults. Then, we examined the spatial relationships of the FCD correlates of behavioral inhibition with gene expression and neurotransmitter atlases to explore their potential genetic architecture and neurochemical basis. A significant negative correlation between behavioral inhibition and FCD in the left superior parietal lobule was found in females but not males. Further spatial correlation analyses demonstrated that the identified neural correlates of behavioral inhibition were associated with expression of gene categories predominantly implicating essential components of the cerebral cortex (glial cell, neuron, axon, dendrite, and synapse) and ion channel activity, as well as were linked to the serotonergic system. Our findings may not only yield important insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the female-specific neural substrates of behavioral inhibition, but also provide a critical context for understanding how biological sex might contribute to variation in behavioral inhibition and its related disease risk. Neurovascular coupling reflects the close relationship between neuronal activity and cerebral blood flow (CBF), providing a new mechanistic insight into health and disease. Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is an autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system and shows cognitive decline‐related brain gray matter abnormalities besides the damage of optic nerve and spinal cord. We aimed to investigate neurovascular coupling alteration and its clinical significance in NMO by using regional homogeneity (ReHo) to measure neuronal activity and CBF to measure vascular response. ReHo was calculated from functional MRI and CBF was computed from arterial spin labeling (ASL) in 56 patients with NMO and 63 healthy controls. Global neurovascular coupling was assessed by across‐voxel CBF‐ReHo correlations and regional neurovascular coupling was evaluated by CBF/ReHo ratio. Correlations between CBF/ReHo ratio and clinical variables were explored in patients with NMO. Global CBF‐ReHo coupling was decreased in patients with NMO relative to healthy controls (p = .009). Patients with NMO showed decreased CBF/ReHo ratio (10.9%–17.3% reduction) in the parietal and occipital regions and increased CBF/ReHo ratio (8.0%–13.3% increase) in the insular, sensorimotor, temporal and prefrontal regions. Some of these abnormalities cannot be identified by a single CBF or ReHo analysis. Both abnormally decreased and increased CBF/ReHo ratios were correlated with more severe clinical impairments and cognitive decline in patients with NMO. PRKAG2 cardiac syndrome is a distinct form of human cardiomyopathy characterized by cardiac hypertrophy, ventricular pre-excitation and progressive cardiac conduction disorder. However, it remains unclear how mutations in the PRKAG2 gene give rise to such a complicated disease. To investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms, we generated disease-specific hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes from two brothers both carrying a heterozygous missense mutation c.905G>A (R302Q) in the PRKAG2 gene and further corrected the R302Q mutation with CRISPR-Cas9 mediated genome editing. Disease-specific hiPSC-cardiomyocytes recapitulated many phenotypes of PRKAG2 cardiac syndrome including cellular enlargement, electrophysiological irregularities and glycogen storage. In addition, we found that the PRKAG2-R302Q mutation led to increased AMPK activities, resulting in extensive glycogen deposition and cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. Finally we confirmed that disrupted phenotypes of PRKAG2 cardiac syndrome caused by the specific PRKAG2-R302Q mutation can be alleviated by small molecules inhibiting AMPK activity and be rescued with CRISPR-Cas9 mediated genome correction. Our results showed that disease-specific hiPSC-CMs and genetically-corrected hiPSC-cardiomyocytes would be a very useful platform for understanding the pathogenesis of, and testing autologous cell-based therapies for, PRKAG2 cardiac syndrome. Objectives: According to aquaporin-4 antibody (AQP4-Ab), neuromyelitis optica (NMO) can be divided into seropositive and seronegative subgroups. The purpose of this study was to a) compare the distribution of spinal cord and brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lesions between seropositive and seronegative NMO patients; b) explore occult brain damage in seropositive and seronegative NMO patients; and c) explore the contribution of visible lesions to occult grey and white matter damage in seropositive and seronegative NMO patients.Materials and Methods: Twenty-two AQP4-Ab seropositive and 14 seronegative NMO patients and 30 healthy controls were included in the study. Two neuroradiologists independently measured the brain lesion volume (BLV) and the length of spinal cord lesion (LSCL) and recorded the region of brain lesions. The normal-appearing grey matter volume (NAGM-GMV) and white matter fractional anisotropy (NAWM-FA) were calculated for each subject to evaluate occult brain damage.Results: The seropositive patients displayed more extensive damage in the spinal cord than the seronegative patients, and the seronegative group had a higher proportion of patients with brainstem lesions (28.57%) than the seropositive group (4.55%, P=0.064). Both NMO subgroups exhibited reduced NAGM-GMV and NAWM-FA compared with the healthy controls. NAGM-GMV was negatively correlated with LSCL in the seropositive group (rs=-0.444, P=0.044) and with BLV in the seronegative group (rs=-0.768, P=0.002). NAWM-FA was also negatively correlated with BLV in the seropositive group (rs=-0.682, P<0.001).Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the occult brain damage in these two NMO subgroups may be due to different mechanisms, which need to be further clarified. Background The field of microbiota-gut-brain research in animals has progressed, while the exact nature of gut microbiota-brain-cognition relationship in humans is not completely elucidated, likely due to small sample sizes and single neuroimaging modality utilized to delineate limited aspects of the brain. We aimed to comprehensively investigate such association in a large sample using multimodal MRI. Methods Fecal samples were collected from 157 healthy young adults and 16S sequencing was used to assess gut microbial diversity and enterotypes. Five brain imaging measures, including regional homogeneity (ReHo) and functional connectivity density (FCD) from resting-state functional MRI, cerebral blood flow (CBF) from arterial spin labeling, gray matter volume (GMV) from structural MRI, and fractional anisotropy (FA) from diffusion tensor imaging, were jointly analyzed with a data-driven multivariate fusion method. Cognition was evaluated by 3-back and digit span tasks. Results We found significant associations of gut microbial diversity with ReHo, FCD, CBF, and GMV within the frontoparietal, default mode and visual networks, as well as with FA in a distributed set of juxtacortical white matter regions. In addition, there were FCD, CBF, GMV, and FA differences between Prevotella- versus Bacteroides-enterotypes in females and between Prevotella- versus Ruminococcaceae-enterotypes in males. Moreover, the identified neuroimaging fusion biomarkers could mediate the associations between microbial diversity and cognition. Amorphous magnesium substituted mesoporous aluminophosphate (AlPO) were prepared, characterized and used as catalysts for the transesterification of diethyl carbonate and dimethyl carbonate in the fixed-bed reactor. The results of FT-IR and XPS confirm the substitution of Mg into the framework of AlPO. Magnesium substituted mesoporous aluminophosphate (MgAPO) have strong basic and weak acid sites according to the results of CO 2 -TPD and NH 3 -TPD. Compared with that of the AlPO catalyst, the pore diameters of the catalysts increased after the introduction of Mg. The activity and stability of the catalysts also improved with the introduction of Mg. The catalytic performance of these catalysts increases in the order of AlPO < Mg 0.1 APO < Mg 0.3 APO < Mg 0.2 APO, which is consistent with the strong basic and weak acid amounts of the catalysts, indicating an acid-base synergistic catalysis in the reaction. The catalyst showed high stability after 960 h of time on stream. As a result, the Mg 0.2 APO presented remarkable activity and durability in the synthesis of ethyl methyl carbonate from dimethyl carbonate and diethyl carbonate in fixed-bed reactor.
