The apparent total tract digestibility and retention of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) and concentrations of digestible energy and metabolizable energy in diets fed to late-gestating sows were not affected by Ca and P levels, but they were increased by dietary supplementation with 1-alpha-hydroxycholecalciferol. There was no interaction between dietary Ca and P and supplementation with 1-alpha-hydroxycholecalciferol.

Objective: Early Childhood Caries (ECC) considers a multifactorial disease. Vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus have a crucial role in mineralized tissue formation and mineralization. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association between the serum level of vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus, and ECC in healthy preschool children. Subject and methods: A 36 preschool children with age from 1 to 6 years old were selected for this clinical study. Enrolled children were randomly divided into two equal groups (n=18); group I; children with ECC, group II; children with caries-free. Clinical examination was carried out to assess decay, missing, filled teeth (dmft) caries index using World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. 25-hydroxyvitamin D “25(OH)D”, calcium, and phosphorus in serum had been measured for all enrolled children. However, the result of the dmft index revealed that the filled tooth due to caries showed a higher mean followed by decay and missing teeth. Conclusion: There is a relation between the deficiency in serum level of vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus and the incidence of ECC.

Introduction: Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a common chronic kidney disease in childhood and it is mostly idiopathic. Aim of the Study: To determine if uVDBP measurements can be used as a non-invasive prognostic biomarker in cases of childhood idiopathic NS and its relation to Ca/P metabolism. Methods: This prospective study was carried out on children who were newly diagnosed with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome presented to the pediatric nephrology unit, Ain Shams University hospitals during the period from November 2019 till May 2020. Results: The present study showed that levels of uVDBP were significantly higher in cases than in healthy control children. Conclusion: We can conclude that uVDBP measurements represent a non-invasive prognostic biomarker in cases of childhood idiopathic NS.

Our attention was drawn to the comorbidity of chronic pancreatitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, namely the features of clinical and pathogenetic links. The article examines metabolism of vitamin D, parathyroid hormone and calcium-phosphorus metabolism in patients with this comorbidity and considering exocrine insufficiency. The results of our own research in this direction are presented. The purpose of the study was to determine the nature of the exocrine pancreatic insufficiency effect on the metabolism of vitamin D, parathyroid hormone and calcium-phosphorus metabolism. Material and methods. The study included 30 patients with exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis and 50 patients with a diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis in the acute stage and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease aged 47-55 years (average age – 52.36±1.83 years). All patients had chronic pancreatitis for more than 10 years. Inclusion criteria was the presence of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and changes of vitamin D in patients’ metabolism. Patients were hospitalized in the gastroenterology department of the Regional Clinical Hospital, Chernivtsi, Ukraine in connection with exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was in stable or unstable remission. Respondents were informed about the study and gave their consent. The control group consisted of 20 healthy individuals. Results and discussion. We revealed a complication of the clinical course in patients with chronic pancreatitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on the background of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Aim: Fistula occlusion is one of the most common causes of hospitalization and mortality in hemodialysis patients. While there are many factors that affect the preoperative success of the fistula, we examined the effect of calcium and phosphorus values from electrolytes. Materials and methods: A total of 100 patients were included in the study. The effectiveness of the preoperative calcium x phosphorus (Ca x P) value of these patients to fistula success in the first 4 weeks was examined. Results: Calcium and phosphorus values of the blood values taken before the fistula was opened, there was a significant difference between the two groups (8.7 +/- 0.7 vs. 9.3 +/- 0.9, p = 0.001, and 3.4 +/- 0.9 vs. 5.2 +/- 1.4, p = 0.001). The difference in the Ca x P value, which is the hypothesis of our study, was found to be quite significant between the two groups (34.1 +/- 8.9 vs. 48.5 +/- 13.7, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Ca x P value was found to be significantly higher in preoperative fistula success and can be a simple and reliable parameter in the evaluation of fistula success.

Background. Evaluation of salivary biomarkers is a non-invasive, convenient, and economical method for diagnosing many diseases. Evidence shows that salivary biomarkers and periodontal disease might be correlated. This study was conducted to evaluate phase I periodontal therapy’s effect on salivary concentrations of calcium, phosphorous, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Methods. In this descriptive, analytical study, 16 patients were selected from those referred to the Department of Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, using convenience sampling. Salivary samples were collected using the drooling method. The salivary concentrations of calcium, phosphorous, and ALP were measured immediately after saliva collection, before the first phase of periodontal therapy and one month later, using a colorimetric assay. The data were analyzed with SPSS using paired t-test. P0.05). Conclusion. This study revealed that the salivary concentrations of calcium, phosphorous, and ALP remained relatively unchanged after phase I periodontal therapy.

Objective: The objective of the study was to estimate the levels of serum calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and copper in hyperthyroid cases and to correlate each of the parameter with serum T3, T4, TSH, FT3, and FT4, respectively. Methods: The study was conducted on 60 newly confirmed hyperthyroid cases based on the thyroid profile and 60 euthyroid cases were recruited as controls. Object and methods. A biochemical research was performed on 123 patients, including 70 patients with RA in remission with GP of the I and II degree of development. Two groups of patients with RA were formed: group I – 35 patients who live in environmentally unfavorable areas and group II – 35 patients who live in environmentally favorable areas. From patients with GP without concomitant somatic pathology, group III was formed – 35 people. Each of the groups, depending on the severity of GP was divided into subgroups: A – GP of the I degree; B – GP of the II degree of severity. The control group consisted of 18 healthy individuals with intact periodontium (K). The diagnosis of periodontal tissue diseases was established according to the classification by MF Danilevsky (1994). Patients of groups I, II and III underwent comprehensive treatment. Topically prescribed: rinsing the oral cavity with a solution of “Furasol” applications on the gums with the drug “Holisal”. For general treatment, patients of all groups received “Osteogenon”, “E 200-Zentiva”. Enterosorbent “Enterosgel” was additionally prescribed for patients of group I. Alkaline and acid phosphatase activity were determined using standard «SPL» kits. The concentration of total, ionized calcium and inorganic phosphorus was determined with reagents from «Simko LTD». Summary This study aimed to evaluate 2 phytases, at 2 supplementation doses, in broiler diets with nutritional matrices with reduction in Ca:total P (tP) ratio. One-day-old male chicks (n = 3,960) were distributed in an arrangement of 12 treatments, with 10 replicates each; the experimental unit consisted of a floor pen with 33 birds each. Trial lasted up to 42 D, and birds were given the experimental diets: T1—positive control 1 (high Ca:tP ratio—recommended amount); T2—negative control 1 (reduction of 0.16% Ca and 0.16% available P-AP); T3–T2 + 500 FTU/kg enzyme A; T4–T2 + 500 FTU/kg enzyme B; T5–T2 + 1000 FTU/kg enzyme A; T6–T2 + 1000 FTU/kg enzyme B; T7–positive control 2 (low Ca:tP ratio); T8—negative control 2 (reduction of 0.16% Ca and 0.16% AP); T9–T8 + 500 FTU/kg enzyme A; T10–T8 + 500 FTU/kg enzyme B; T11–T8 + 1000 FTU/kg enzyme A; and T12–T8 + 1000 FTU/kg enzyme B. At 21 and 42 D of age, performance variables were recorded (body weight, body weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio) and tibial bone composition (Ca and P) and resistance was determined (strength at rupture). Results indicate that enzyme supplementation was efficient, regardless of Ca:tP ratio. The highest phytase dose presented superior results, especially for the 21-D evaluation. Phytase “B,” a bacterial product, showed superior response on performance and bone quality.

Two experiments were conducted to determine the effects of feeding 1,500 phytase units (FYT/kg; Ronozyme HiPhos 2,500; DSM Nutritional Products, Parsippany, NJ) when credited with its corresponding nutrient release values to growing-finishing pigs. The assumed phytase release values were 0.146% standardized total tract digestible (STTD) P, 0.102% STTD Ca, 8.6 kcal/kg of net energy (NE), and 0.0217%, 0.0003%, 0.0086%, 0.0224%, 0.0056%, 0.0122%, and 0.0163% standardized ileal digestible Lys, Met, Met+Cys, Thr, Trp, Ile, and Val, respectively. In Exp. 1, 1,215 pigs (PIC 359 × Camborough, initially 28.0 ± 0.46 kg) were used. Pens were assigned to one of three dietary treatments with 27 pigs per pen and 15 pens per treatment. Experimental diets consisted of a control with no added phytase or diets with 1,500 FYT fed either in the grower period (days 0–57) then switched to the control diet until market or fed throughout the entire study (day 0 to market). Diets containing added phytase were adjusted based on the supplier-provided expected nutrient release values. During the grower period, pigs fed the control diet with no added phytase had increased (P < 0.05) average daily gain (ADG) and gain-to-feed ratio (G:F) compared with pigs fed added phytase. Overall, pigs fed either the control or phytase only in the grower period had increased (P < 0.05) ADG and G:F compared with pigs fed phytase until market. In Exp. 2, 2,268 pigs (PIC 337 × 1050, initially 28.5 ± 1.96 kg) were used. There were six dietary treatments with 27 pigs per pen and 14 pens per treatment. Experimental diets consisted of a control with no added phytase or five diets with 1,500 FYT assuming nutrient release values for Ca and P; Ca, P, and Amino Acid (AA); Ca, P, AA, and half of the suggested NE; Ca, P, AA, and full NE; or no nutrient release. Overall, there was no evidence for difference in ADG or average daily feed intake among treatments; however, pigs fed the diet containing 1,500 FYT assuming that no nutrient release had improved (P < 0.05) G:F compared to pigs fed diets containing 1,500 FYT assuming either Ca and P or Ca, P, AA, and full NE release, with others intermediate. In summary, pigs fed phytase-added diets accounting for full nutrient release values in both experiments had the poorest performance. This suggests that using all of the nutrient release values attributed to this source of phytase was too aggressive and resulted in lower nutrient concentrations than needed to optimize performance.

For present study total 600 elderly were randomly selected from urban (200), rural (200), and tribal (200) areas from Nanded district of Maharashtra state of India. Information of socio economic status of elderly population was collected with the help of interview schedule and discussion. While biochemical estimations like serum calcium, phosphorus and haemoglobin content of blood was carried out for 10 percent rural (20) and urban (20) elderly with standard procedures. Result stated that, 75 percent elderly were belonging to age group of 60 to 70 years and 25 percent were above 70 years. Among selected elderly, 53.5 percent were female and 46.5 percent were male. Serum calcium of selected elderly subjects, ranged from 8.6±00 to 9.45±0.83. The range of serum phosphorus was 2.78±0.39 to 3.70±0.90. While haemoglobin content of blood of selected elderly ranged from 7.9±00 to 9.73±2.52.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of nanotechnology and sodium metasilicate on the content of total calcium and inorganic phosphorus and individual lipids in the blood of rabbits from 52 to 110 days of life. Studies were conducted on young rabbits of Hyla breed in the private sector. Rabbits for the study were selected at the age of 41 days on the principle of analogues, weighing 1.2–1.4 kg, were divided into six groups (control and five experimental), 6 animals (3 males and 3 females) in each. Animals were kept in with adjustable microclimate and illumination in mesh cages measuring 50×120×30 cm, in accordance with modern animal health standards. The control group rabbits were fed without restriction a balanced granular compound feed, with free access to water. Animals I, II, and III of the study groups were fed a control group diet and fed citrate silicon for 24 hours, with a corresponding rate of 25; 50 and 75 µg Si/kg body weight. Young animals of the IV and V experimental groups were fed wit diet of the control group and water was given sodium metasilicate (Na2SiO3H2O) in the amount of 2.5 and 5.0 mg Si/kg body weight, respectively. The experiment lasted 68 days, including the preparatory period of 10 days, the experimental period – 58 days. In the preparatory period – at 52 days and experimental at 83 and 110 days of life (31 and 58 days of drinking additives) in 4 animals (2 males and 2 females) from the group blood samples were taken for biochemical studies. Studies have found that the concentration of total calcium in the blood plasma of rabbits III and IV study groups was higher by 9.6 and 6.4% (P < 0.05) for 58 days of the study compared with the control, indicating the stimulating effect of the organic compound silicon to activate the processes of assimilation of this macronutrient in the body of young rabbits. Silicone citrate in the large test quantities and sodium metasilicate in the blood plasma of animals of III, IV and V experimental groups respectively increased the level of inorganic phosphorus by 35.7; 28.5 and 35.7% (P < 0.05) than controls at day 58 of the study. In the final study period, the ratio of Calcium to Phosphorus in the animals of the II – V experimental groups was in the range of 2.0–1.73: 1, indicating a more pronounced effect of silicon compounds on the metabolism of Phosphorus during a longer period of supplementation. The content of triacylglycerols in the blood plasma of rabbits II and III of the experimental groups was lower (P < 0.05) at 31 and 58 days of the study compared with the control. The results obtained may indicate the activation of the processes of metabolic accumulation of plastic components of cell membranes and energy needs of body tissues. The use of silica organic compound reduced the cholesterol content by 37% (P < 0.05) in the blood of rabbits of the III experimental group at 31 days of the study. Whereas at the final stage of the experiment in animals II; In the 3rd and 4th research groups, its level was lower by 43.4; 36.9 and 42.2% (P < 0.05) compared to the control, indicating greater use of cholesterol by the organism with silica organic compound.

A study was conducted to determine the effect of increasing dietary cholecalciferol in deficient calcium and phosphorus broiler diets on productive performance, carcass characteristics and some tibia measurements. A total of 270 one day old Hubbard chicks were weighed and randomly allocated into a completely randomized design (five treatments, six replicate groups, nine chicks in each group). The experimental diets were as follows: (T1) control diet, was formulated according to the manual guide of Hubbard broiler chicks. (T2 to T5) tested diets were containing half of the calcium and available phosphorus requirements with extra levels of cholecalciferol 5000 (T2), 6000 (T3), 7000, (T4) and 8000 (T5) international units. The main results obtained can be summarized as follows: At 6 weeks of age, body weight and gain of birds fed either control or deficient calcium and phosphorus diets with 7000 (T4) and 8000 (T5) I.U. of cholecalciferol were significant heavier than those with 5000 (T2) or 6000 (T3) and consume less feed and gave better feed conversion ratio. The highest production efficiency factors were recorded for the control and T5 groups. Carcass characteristics (dressing % and ready to cook %) were significantly higher in birds fed control or those fed T4 and T5 diets compared with that fed T2 and T3 diets. Tibia breaking strength, tibia length and width of birds fed control or T5 diets were higher than other treatments with significant differences. It could be concluded that using the half requirements of calcium and available phosphorus in broiler diets supplemented with 8000 IU/kg cholecalciferol would have a positive effect on the cost of production of broiler chicks, without any adverse effect on productive performance, carcass and tibia characteristics.

Fishbones contain significant amounts of plant nutrients. Fish residues may be preserved by acidification to pH < 4, which may affect the extractability and plant availability of nutrients when applied as fertilisers. Grinded bone material from cod ( Gadus morhua ) heads was mixed with formic acid to investigate if acidification would increase the concentrations of ammonium acetate-lactate (AL)-extractable nutrients. Two degrees of fineness of fishbones (coarse 2-4 mm; fine < 0.71 mm) were compared at pH 3.0 and 4.0 plus a water control in a laboratory study over 55 days. Samples for extraction of AL-soluble P, Ca, Mg and K were taken on day 2, 15, 34 and 55. Whereas acidification clearly increased the concentrations of AL-extractable calcium (Ca-AL) and magnesium (Mg-AL), extractable phosphorus (P-AL) was only significantly increased in finely grinded bones at pH 3. After 34 days, 6% of the total content of P was extracted by AL in fine fishbones at pH 3. Without acidification about 1% of the P was extracted, possibly from phospholipids. This P-AL concentration was well above P-AL extracted from acidified coarse fishbones and from fine fishbones acidified to pH 4. With acidification, about 30% of total Ca and 10% of total Mg were extracted by AL, and the Ca-AL and Mg-AL concentrations were closely correlated. The reason for lower P-AL in coarse fishbones at pH 3 and 4, and fine fishbones at pH 4 than in water controls may be a precipitation of apatite from phospholipids and dissolved calcium.

Recently, a P-deficient diet caused rickets in commercial chicks within three days. This study aimed to investigate the duration of onset of rickets in chicks. Data were collected from 3–11 day old chicks raised on 88 commercial farms. Male day-old Arbor Acres Plus broilers (n = 450) were studied in three trials, with three to four treatments each. Each treatment used one of the following crumbled feeds: control feed (calcium (Ca): phosphorus (P)-1.41), slightly high Ca:P feed (SHCa:P, Ca:P-2.69), high Ca:P ratio, P deficient feed (HCa:P, Ca:P-3.08), and HCa:P feed plus 1.5% dicalcium phosphate (HCa:P + DP). Each treatment had three replicates with 15 birds each. Rickets was induced by HCa:P, and cured by HCa:P + DP, confirmed by gross anatomy, gait score, serum P concentration and growth performance. Lameness was not found in control groups, whereas, observed in the HCa:P groups as early as day 2.7 on commercial farms and day 3 in experimental farm. Serum P was reduced in HCa:P (p < 0.01). Bodyweight and feed intake started decreasing at day 3 on commercial farms and in all trials (p < 0.01). The duration of onset of hypophosphatemic rickets in broiler chicks fed HCa:P crumbled feed is approximately three days.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Rickets is a common presentation on the pediatric floor, with nutritional rickets being the cause of leading significant morbidity, disability, especially in the developing countries of the world. The objective is to compare the efficacy of parenteral and oral vitamin D supplementation in the treatment of nutritional rickets METHODOLOGY: This comparative interventional, prospective analysis was conducted at Aziz Fatimah Hospital Faisalabad (1-1-2017 to 30-6-2017) outdoor patients divided into parenteral and oral groups. All of the outcome variables were measured at baseline and one month after treatment. RESULTS: In this study, mean age was calculated as 2.12 + 0.76 years and 2.15+0.77 in parental and oral groups respectively. 49.29% (n=69) and 45%(n=63) were male and 50.71%(n=71) and 55% (n=77) were female respectively in both groups. At baseline, serum calcium was 8.68 + 0.35 and 8.71 + 0.37 (p=0.62) serum phosphorus was 3.92 + 9.22 and 3.84 + 0.20 (p=0.03), and serum alkaline phosphatase was 230.01 + 13.09 and 228.89 + 13.80 (p=0.48) in parenteral and oral groups respectively. After treatment the mean change seen in serum calcium was 1.14 + 0.26 and 0.72 + 0.19 (p=0.001), serum phosphorus was 1.42 + 0.33 and 0.71 + 0.26 (p=0.001), serum Alkaline phosphatase was 79.48 + 14.84 and 23.65 + 12.21 (p=0.001) in parenteral and oral groups respectively. CONCLUSION: We concluded that the parenteral route for vitamin. D supplementation is significantly better than the oral route in treating nutritional rickets in terms of mean change in serum calcium, serum phosphorus, and serum alkaline phosphatase.

Development of bakery product variety for healthy eating is one of the actual tasks facing the modern food industry and science. A polycomposite mixture for rye-wheat bakery products was created using the software, which takes into account the basic principles of food combinatorics, as well as the technological potential of prescription components. A set of methods was used to determine the chemical composition of bread and its functional qualities. The study of health effects of bread on body’s status was carried out on a group of female volunteers. Assessment of life quality was conducted a questionnaire-survey method using the SF-36 questionnaire «Test for evaluation of life quality». The results of the study showed that according to the chemical composition, the rate of satisfaction with daily requirements for basic nutrients a new bakery product corresponds to the category of functional food products on the content of calcium phosphorus, magnesium and dietary fiber. Introducing to the developed type of bread into the diet improves the quality of life due to a significant increase in mental health indicators and the level of physical functioning, which affects the psycho-emotional state and motor activity of volunteers.

In order to further explore the relationship between water body eutrophication of some reaches of Yellow River and phosphorus species in sediments, and evaluate phosphorus release potential from sediments to overlying water, we investigated the distribution of P species and their release risk in the surface sediments from different reaches along Yellow River, as well as the influence of artificial dam on phosphorus cycle in Yellow River. The results show that the content of calcium phosphorus (PCa) is higher than the content of bioavailable phosphorus (BP) (BP = Pex + PFe; in the formula, Pex means exchangeable phosphorus and PFe means iron phosphorus) in the surface sediments from Yellow River. Among all the surface sediment samples from 21 stations, only Dayudu section (H15) has a ratio of W (BP)/W (PCa) higher than 0.5; the results show that the intensity of phosphorus release from H15 is high, and there is a potential risk of eutrophication in water, while the phosphorus release level of water sediment in other reaches of Yellow River is low. The content of BP and total phosphorus (∑P) in surface sediments along the Yellow River is in descending order: middle reaches of Yellow River > upper reaches of Yellow River > Yellow River downstream, while the content order of total phosphorus (TP) in the overlying water is as follows: Yellow river downstream > middle reaches of Yellow River > upper reaches of Yellow River (except the H7 station), indicating that extensive artificial corresponding damming in Yellow River basin makes the concentration of TP increasing significantly in overlying from upstream to downstream. The establishment of Haibowan water conservancy project in Yellow River makes the total particulate matter (TPM) concentration in the water to reduce to very low lever in Wuhai H7 section, and the phosphorus concentration in the overlying water reaches 0.136 mg L−1.

Introduction. Primary hyperparathyroidism is an endocrine disorder, which ranks third in prevalence after diabetes mellitus and diseases of the thyroid gland. Abnormal laboratory results lead to in-depth study of anamnesis and clinical appearance and providing diagnostic procedures for locating the pa­­rathyroid gland with altered functional activity. At the first stage of instrumental diagnosis, ultrasound and scintigraphy with 99mTc-MIBI (in many cases, a combination of them) are used. In the case of positive laboratory tests, false-negative scintigraphy results, orquestionable ultrasound data (presence of multiple nodes),computer tomographyis used as a second stage of instrumental diagnosis. Surgical intervention to eliminate hormonally active parathyroid gland is a gold standard for the treatment of patients with this pat­hology. Aim. The aim of our publication is to explore the relationship between the size of hormonally active lesions of the parathyroid glands and the preoperative serum level of parathormone, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D using examples from the clinical practice of the USPCES, TEO and T for the period from January 1, 2017 until December 25, 2018. Materials and methods. The study included cases of single parathyroid adenoma. The observation group consisted of 188 patients — 13 men (6.1 %) and 175 women (93.9 %) aged from 17 to 82 years old; the average age was 55.5 ± 1.0 years. Patient information was obtained from the medical records and included: date of surgery, gender, age, preoperative level of total (normal range 2,20—2,55 mmol/l) and ionized calcium (normal range 1,16—1,32 mmol/l), phosphorus (normal range 0.81—1.45 mmol/l), vitamin D (normal range 30—50 ng/ml) in serum, preoperative PTH level (normal range 11—55 pg/ml), and the largest measurement of the modified PTA in centimeters according to the histopathological report. Results and discussion. We found a statistically significant correlation between the size of the adenoma and the following laboratory parameters: parathor­­mone — mean positive correlation (0.372/p < 0.001), calcium total and calcium ionized — weak positive correlation (0.210/p = 0.004 and 0.222/ p = 0.002), phosphorus — weak negative correlation (-0.19/p = 0.008). Correlation between the size of the adenoma and the level of vitamin D was not detected. Conclusions. Материалы и методы. В исследовании приняли участие пациенты с одиночной аденомой ПЩЖ. Группу наблюдения составили 188 больных (13 муж­­чин и 175 женщин) в возрасте от 17 до 82 лет; средний возраст составлял (55,5 ± 1,0) года. Информация получена из медицинской документации: дата операции, пол, возраст, предоперационный уровень общего (норма 2,20—2,55 ммоль/л) и ионизированного (норма 1,16—1,32 ммоль/л) кальция, фосфора (норма 0,81—1,45 ммоль/л), витамина D (норма 30—50 нг/мл) в сыворотке крови, предоперацион­­ный уровень ПТГ (норма 1—55 пг/мл) и наибольший размер измененной ПЩЖ согласно гистопатологическому отчету. Результаты и обсуждение. Выявлено статистически значимые корреляционные связи между размером аденомы и такими лабораторными показателями: паратгормон — средняя положительная связь (0,372/p < 0,001), кальций общий и ионизированный — слабая положительная связь (0,210/p = 0,004 и 0,222/p = 0,002), фосфор — слабая отрицательная связь (-0,193/p = 0,008). Первинний гіперпаратиреоз — ендокринне захворювання, яке за поширеністю серед ендокринної патології посідає третє місце після цукрового діабету та захворювань щитоподібної залози. Аномальні лабораторні результати спонукають до поглибленого вивчення анамнезу та клінічної картини, а також діагностичних процедур з пошуку прищитоподібної залози зі зміненою функціональною активністю. На першому етапі застосовують ультра­­звукове дослідження (УЗД) та сцинтіографію з 99mTc-MIBI (у багатьох випадках — їх поєднання). У разі позитивних результатів лабораторних тестів, хибно-негативних результатів сцинтіографії, сумнівних даних УЗД (наяв­ність багатовузлового зобу) переходять до другого етапу — застосовують комп’ютерну томографію. Хі­­рургічне втручання з метою усунення гормо­­нально активної прищитоподібної залози є золотим стан­дартом лікування пацієнтів із цією патологією. Introduction. Significant prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an unceasing increase in morbidity, affliction of working age population, late diagnosis, not always effective treatment and large economic damage due to this disease and its complications, are the actual problems in medical field and should be further explored. The aim of the studi. To make the review of the literature and the description of the clinical case devoted to finding out the features of pathogenesis, diagnosis and principles of differentiated treatment of calcium­phosphorus metabolism and bone state in patients with RA. Materials and methods. The content analysis, the method of system and comparative analysis, the bibliosemantic method of studying the actual scientific research of the features of calcium­phosphorus metabolism and the state of bones in patients with RA, pathogenesis, diagnostic methods and principles of differentiated treatment were used. The search for the sources was carried out in the scientific­medical databases: PubMed­NCBI, Medline, CochraneLibrary, EMBASE, ResearchGate by keywords: RA, osteoporosis, RANK / RANKL / OPG, densitometry, P1NP, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D, parthyroid hormone. In total, 75 sources in English and Ukrainian have been analyzed. The selected sources highlight the pathogenesis, diagnostic methods with proven high sensitivity and specificity, treatment principles. In addition, the clinical case is described. Results. RA and its complications, which are mostly the result of calciumphosphorus exchange disorders, lead to early disability of people of working age, due to the occurrence of fractures. Clinical signs of osteoporosis in patients with RA are often nonspecific and diagnosed untimely. Therefore, the issue of early diagnosis and treatment principles is still relevant. Conclusions. The overview of modern literature and the description of the clinical case suggest that patients with rheumatoid arthritis exhibit the significant disturbances in calcium­phosphorous metabolism with bone defeat, but the information on pathogenetic mechanisms, optimal methods for diagnosis of osteoporosis and its treatment are insufficient, and sometimes contradictory. That is why there is a need to continue the research in this direction.

EnglishThe so-called Vitamin D deficit is currently due to several factors such as the high prevalence of population deficit detected, particularly in a certain risk population, the better knowledge of its organic functions and not only of the classic calcium phosphorus metabolism, the growing prescription of this element by the medical professionals and the increase of analytic requests that is occurring with the consequent increase in cost and attention called to it by the EMEA (drug medical agency) to the possible toxicity of a prescription that is not adequately prescribed. This situation offers us the opportunity to update knowledge on it in order to make better possible decisions on its daily clinical management. A review is done that offers some knowledge while awaiting more conclusive and definitive research that clarifies the doubts and fills the gaps that may now exist.

Twelve local adult male goats were randomly allotted to two equal groups and were kept on ad libitum wheat straw, supplemented with either conventional concentrate mixture (Control) or concentrate mixture containing walnut cake (10% w/w) (Treatment). The present study investigated the effects of dietary calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), and vitamin D (VD) supplements on growth performance, Ca:P digestion and metabolism, and serum biochemical indexes of growing male mink (Mustela vison) under conditions of a fixed 2:1 ratio of Ca to P. About 135 dark male mink were randomly assigned to nine groups. The experiment was conducted with a 3 × 3 (Ca:P × VD) factorial design using a corn–fish meal-based diet that contained 2.3% Ca, 1.15% P, and 2100 IU kg−1VD. The supplementary Ca and P levels were 0%:0%, 0.4%:0.2%, and 0.8%:0.4% of the diets, respectively, whereas supplementary VD levels were 0, 2000, and 4000 IU kg−1. The Ca and P dosage had a significant effect on growth performance of the mink (P −1, significantly improved protein utilization and Ca and P digestibility of growing mink (P −1) had an important effect on growth performance and protein utilization in growing mink and could reduce environmental pollution by improving protein and P utilization.

Improving dietary phosphorus (P) absorption and retention has been intensively studied in pig and poultry due to the low digestibility of inositol phosphate (IP), global mineral P scarcity and increasing public concerns over environment pollution. The main aim of this thesis was to provide novel insights into calcium (Ca) and P absorption, metabolism and retention in pigs and poultry.The impact of dietary Ca content with or without microbial phytase supplementation on Ca and P absorption/solubilization in different digestive tract segments was studied in pigs. Increasing dietary Ca content reduced apparent P digestibility in all digestive tract posterior to stomach, and this impact was greater for the phytase supplemented diets in the distal ileum. Moreover, incremental dietary Ca content reduced P solubility, accompanied with a reduced IP6 degradation in the distal ileum. Thus dietary Ca reduced P absorption via reducing IP6 degradation and precipitation of P, which was more pronounced in microbial phytase included diets. Furthermore, a high dietary Ca content reduced mRNA expression of Ca-related transporters in the colon and jejunum, while it increased mRNA expression of Ca-related claudins in the jejunum. These results indicated that increasing dietary Ca supply switched Ca absorption from transcellular to paracellular pathway. In addition to that, dietary Ca reduced mRNA expression of Ca-related transporters and claudins in the kidney, suggesting that kidney played a central role in Ca and P homeostasis.In contrast to pigs, the negative impact of dietary Ca on P absorption was less pronounced in broilers fed diets supplemented with microbial phytase. Microbial phytase supplementation also increased Ca absorption particularly in the low-Ca diets. However, this positive impact was insufficient to restore the negative effect of Ca deficiency on growth performance or tibia breaking strength. Moreover, incremental dietary Ca supply reduced mRNA expression of both Ca-related transporters and claudin in the duodenum, while upregulated their expression in the kidney. These results suggested that kidney might not play a central role in Ca and P homeostasis.The impact of limestone particle size and inclusion level on Ca and P absorption was studied in broilers. Fine was more digestible than coarse limestone in the jejunum, but this difference disappeared in the ileum particularly at a low Ca intake. Irrespective of limestone particle size, minimal requirement of Ca/P was 1.00-1.25 to optimize Ca and P digestibility without compromising tibia breaking strength. Moreover, P digestibility in the ileum was gradually decreased with incremental Ca intake. The P solubility in the crop, gizzard and jejunum, however, was not affected by limestone particle size or inclusion level. Furthermore, mRNA expression of P-related transporter in both duodenum and jejunum was downregulated with increasing Ca intake. Thus Ca-induced downregulation of P transporter was an important mechanism by which dietary Ca reduced P absorption. Apart from that, mRNA expression of Ca- and P-related transporters in the duodenum was downregulated by dietary Ca intake in a limestone particle size dependent manner.In conclusion, in pigs incremental dietary Ca content reduces intestinal P absorption via hampering IP degradation and precipitation of P, with a larger impact in microbial phytase-supplemented diets. Increasing dietary Ca content shifts intestinal Ca absorption from transcellular to paracellular pathway, and kidney plays a central role in whole body Ca homeostasis. By contrast, in broilers incremental dietary Ca content reduces intestinal P absorption, which was more pronounced in phytase-free diets. Furthermore, Ca-induced downregulation of P transporters is an important mechanism by which dietary Ca reduces intestinal P absorption. Overall, insights obtained in poultry studies cannot be extrapolated to pigs and vice verse when it comes to Ca and P homeostasis.

A total of 2,268 pigs (PIC 337×1050, initially 28.5±2.3 kg) were used in a 55-d growth study. On d 0, pens of pigs were blocked by body weight and randomly allotted to 1 of 6 dietary treatments with 27 pigs per pen and 14 pens per treatment. Treatments were fed in 2 different phases containing 1.05 and 0.89% SID Lys, respectively. The 6 treatments consisted of a control with no phytase and inorganic P from monocalcium P, or 5 diets with 1,500 phytase units (FYT/kg; Ronozyme HiPhos 2,500; DSM Nutritional Products, Inc., Parsippany, NJ) assuming supplier-provided nutrient release values for Ca and P (CaP), Ca, P, and AA (CaPAA), Ca, P, AA, and half of the suggested net energy (CAPAA+halfNE), Ca, P, AA, and full NE (CaPAA+fullNE) and no nutrient release (None). The assumed release values were 0.146% STTD P, 0.102% STTD Ca, 41.8 kcal/kg of NE, and 0.0217, 0.0003, 0.00886, 0.0224, 0.0056, 0.0122, and 0.0163% digestible Lys, Met, Met + Cys, Thr, Trp, Ile, and Val, respectively. All diets within phase were corn-soybean meal-based and contained a STTD Ca:STTD P ratio of 1.60:1. Data were analyzed as a randomized complete block design for a one-way ANOVA using the lmer function from the lme4 package in R. Overall (d 0 to 55), there was no evidence for differences in ADG or ADFI. However, pigs fed the diet containing 1,500 FYT/kg assuming no nutrient release had increased (P< 0.05) G:F compared to pigs fed diets containing 1,500 FYT/kg assuming either CaP or CaPAA+fullNE release, with others intermediate. Based on diet formulation and using supplier recommended phytase release values, all pigs should have had similar performance. However, pigs fed full matrix release values for CaPAA+fullNE had decreased (P< 0.05) G:F, suggesting that full matrix release values, especially energy, may be too aggressive and resulted in diets contributing less nutrients than needed to optimize performance.

Species of Fe in the sediments from 21 sections of the Yellow River have been analyzed utilizing the so-called sequential extraction approach. The correlation between iron and phosphorus was analyzed, and the risk of release phosphorus was predicted. This study aims to assess vitamin D levels in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis and healthy women in menopause. Two groups of women over 50 years of age took part in the study – 41 women with osteoporosis and 22 without osteoporosis. The levels of vitamin D, parathormone, alkaline phosphatase, calcium and phosphorus were examined. 16 women with osteoporosis (39%) were with normal levels of vitamin D, 14 (34,1%) were with insufficiency, and 11 (26,9%) with deficiency of vitamin D. The objective of this study is to present the behavior of calcium, phosphorus, and parathormone (PTH) before renal transplantation (RT) and throughout the 12 months after transplant surgery. Methods A longitudinal observational study of RT patients was performed from 2013 to 2017 in 2 renal transplant units in Mexico. In total, 1009 records of patients with RT were analyzed. Calcium, phosphorus, and PTH levels were studied before transplantation and for 12 months after. Central tendency and dispersion were measured, the difference of means was established with chi square or student t tests, and the significant value of P was set at Results Phosphorus had a median pre-RT of 5.73, which decreased to 2.8 in the first month post-transplant and then increased to 3.41 at 12 months post-RT. The median PTH, on the other hand, started at 420.60 and decreased to 67.45. Calcium began at 9.04 and hit a plateau of 9.58 during month 12 after the surgical event. Conclusions Of the 3 biochemical parameters evaluated, phosphorus was the one that most corrected itself after transplantation. Despite a tendency toward hypophosphatemia in the first month after transplantation, it began to normalize from month 6 on. Meanwhile, calcium was the biochemical value that changed the least after transplantation.

The chapter discusses the specific signs of these diseases, the risks factors and possible causes of development, the principles of differential diagnosis and treatment approaches.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the surface substructure, inorganic and organic components present in partially demineralized tooth bone graft material in young and old, male and female subjects, which may vary due to formation of secondary dentin suggesting decrease in calcium content as we age. A total of 34 extracted teeth were collected, 15 belonging to young patients and, the remaining 15 belonging to old patients, and, divided into 4 subgroups and a 4 control group. All the samples were cleaned, washed, air dried and powdered and demineralized. However the control group having 4 samples each was not demineralized. The samples were subjected to Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) for surface substructure and inorganic component analysis, and Bradford Assay to assess the protein content. The SEM analysis revealed the presence of dentinal tubules, collagen and, dense crystals of hydroxyapatite in young subject samples, however in old subjects’ collagen fibers were not visible, and hydroxyapatite crystals randomly scattered in clusters. The EDS results showed statistical significance in the Calcium Phosphorus ratio between the groups. Bradford Assay, showed higher concentration of proteins in female subject samples irrespective of age. It can be concluded that inorganic analysis showed young subjects had more densely packed hydroxyapatite crystals and slightly higher Calcium Phosphorus ratio and, high protein concentration was seen in female subjects’ samples irrespective of age.

Introduction. The disorders of calcium-phosphorus metabolism and bone tissue state, which are the main cause of spontaneous fractures and motor activity disorders in patients with liver cirrhosis, they require deeper understanding of etiology and pathogenesis, the use of laboratory-instrumental methods of diagnosis, taking into account risk factors and prescribing of the effective treatment to improve the quality of life. Conducting the additional studies will give impetus to the search for new methods of treatment of not only individual nosolenias, but also co- and polymorbid diseases and will help to reduce the effect of radiation from the use of medications. The content analysis, the method of system and comparative analysis, the bibliosemantic method of studying the actual scientific studies of the peculiarities of calcium-phosphorus metabolism and the state of bones in patients with liver cirrhosis, methods of diagnostics and the principles of differentiated treatment are described. Results. The review of the literature shows the importance and urgency of the problem of studying calcium-phosphorus metabolism and the state of bone tissue in patients with cirrhosis of the liver. Mechanisms leading to pathological changes in bone tissue in such patients has been insufficiently studied. Nevertheless, there are number of common factors affecting bone metabolism: malformation of calcium and vitamin D, vitamin K deficiency, hormonal disregulation, cytokine release, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IFR-1) deficiency, etc. All efforts in the treatment are aimed at minimizing the loss of bone mass, preventing the fractures and kneading bone pain. First of all, it’s important to persuade the patient to stop smoking and drink alcohol, exercise regularly, and maintain a balanced diet with high levels of calcium and vitamin D. In the described clinical case, the patient with cirrhosis of the liver is diagnosed with osteoporosis confirmed by ultrasound densitometry and examination of calcium-phosphorus metabolism and bone tissue state by measuring the content of total calcium, ionized calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D, parathyroid hormone and markers of bone metabolism (b- crossLaps, P1NP, osteocalcin). Conclusions. The study of the state of calcium-phosphorus metabolism and the state of bone tissue in patients with liver cirrhosis requires the use of safe and informative diadynamic methods that will be used at any stage of the disease and will help in choosing the therapeutic tactics.
