Abstract

A new presentation of miconazole, in the form of soft gelatin capsules for intravaginal use, gave considerable therapeutic success in the treatment of vulvovaginal candidosis. Mycological cure rates greater than 85% and clinical cure rates greater than 90% were achieved by treatment with 7 miconazole capsules, regardless of whether these were used daily for 7 days or twice daily for 3 1/2 days. The new formulation seems to possess the dual advantage of ease of application and shorter duration of treatment.
