Oviposition rates in Arctocorisa carinata and Callicorixa producta were determined in small enclosures in rock-pools. Females maintained oviposition rates of 8-9 eggs female −1 d −1 through most of the reproductive season, but tended to eat some of their eggs. Egg cannibalism was not observed in early June but had increased to 50% by late July. The incidence of cannibalism in rock-pools was strongly correlated with the numbers of reproductive females of the new generation and general food availability
