Abstract

Objective: To determine the accuracy of high‐risk human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA samples on filter paper in comparison to specimen transport medium (STM). Methods: This was a cross‐sectional diagnostic study of 42 consecutive women who were prospectively recruited. Each had self‐collected vaginal samples on filter paper, physician‐collected cervical samples on filter paper, and physician‐collected cervical samples in STM. HPV DNA testing was performed with a Hybrid Capture 2 system (Qiagen). Sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value (NPV), positive predictive value (PPV), and agreement of filter paper methods with the standard procedure were calculated. Results: The overall prevalence of HPV in STM was 67.5%. Detection of HPV DNA in the physician‐collected cervical samples on filter paper had a sensitivity of 77.8%, a specificity of 100%, a PPV of 100%, and an NPV of 68.4%. The patient's self‐sampling on filter paper had a sensitivity of 66.7%, a specificity of 100%, a PPV of 100%, and an NPV of 59.1%. The agreement between STM method and physician‐collected sample on filter paper was substantial, (κ = 0.695, P < 0.001), while the agreement between STM and self‐collected samples on filter paper was moderate (κ = 0.565, P < 0.001). Most patients reported that self‐collection was acceptable (100%), painless (95%), and not embarrassing (95%). Conclusion: Filter paper, with dried self‐collected vaginal samples, can be used to detect high‐risk HPV with acceptable accuracy. Synopsis: Self‐collected vaginal samples on filter paper, to detect high‐risk human papillomavirus, is better for women, easier to transport to central laboratories, and has acceptable accuracy. Abstract

The term “prison gang” is traditionally met with fear, as thoughts of violence and chaos have preceded public perception. While many prison gangs adhere to strict codes of conduct, racial and ethnic division, and criminal activity, prison gangs have also been voices of resistance to inhumane treatment and unfair conditions within incarcerated settings. In order to unpack the term “prison gang”, it must be set in the context of mass incarceration and social inequality that is rampant throughout marginalized communities. Therefore, this chapter investigates the rise of modern prison gangs and resistance within carceral settings and attempts reentry for those affiliated with gangs. This chapter serves as a launching point to discuss the ways the state has proliferated and propagated violence within prisons and expanded these groups through draconian policies and other retributive procedures. Subsequently pursuing prison abolition as a realistic concept moving into the 21st century.

AbstrakHak Imunitas Advokat menjadi tolak ukur bagi seorang Advokat dalam melaksanakan tugasnya sesuai kuasa yang diberikan klien dalam pembelaan hukum dalam kasus yang ditangani, sebagaiaman diatur dalam Pasal 16 Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2003 tentang Advokat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui usaha pemerintah melindungi hak imunitas advokat dalam melakukan pekerjaan. Pendekatan penelitian ini yuridis normatif dengan menggunakan data sekunder atau data pustaka (library research). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Hak imunitas sangat penting bagi advokat dalam menjalankan fungsi dan tugasnya sebagai aparat penegak hukum demi terciptanya keadilan, kepastian dan kemanfaatan. Dengan demikian, hak imunitas advokat bukan hanya diberikan dalam sidang pengadilan, tapi berlaku juga di luar persidangan dengan catatan bahwa di luar persidangan tersebut merupakan bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari proses peradilan.AbstractThe Advocate's Immunity Rights is a benchmark for an Advocate in carrying out his duties by the authority granted by the client in a legal defense in the case handled, as stipulated in Article 16 of Law Number 18 of 2003 concerning Lawyers. The purpose of this study is to determine the government's efforts to protect the rights of immunity of advocates in carrying out work. This research approach is normative juridical by using secondary data or library data. The results of the study indicate that the right to immunity is very important for advocates in carrying out their functions and duties as law enforcement officers to create justice, certainty, and expediency. As such, the rights of the immunity of advocates are not only given in court proceedings but also apply outside the trial provided that outside the trial is an integral part of the judicial process.
