Adherence to medication is important for successful CF management.Objective: To describe medication adherence according to age, therapeutic class, and pharmaceutical form in adults and children followed in four regional CF centers in France.Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study with non-transplanted patients followed in two adult and two pediatric centers during 2015 who were covered by the French National Health Insurance (NHI). Sociodemographic, clinical, hospitalization, and prescription data were collected from patient medical records. Medication dispensations were extracted from the regional French NHI database. Adherence was calculated over 12 months using continuous medication availability (CMA) accounting for dose adjustments and hospitalizations. Drug-specific CMA was computed in R with the AdhereR package for each medication prescribed more than 3 months, which was averaged to obtain a composite CMA score (cCMA) for all treatments and per therapeutic class as well as pharmaceutical form for each patient.Results: A total of 228 patients were included. 3. On the use of test smells for prediction of flaky tests

Abstract

Regression testing is an important phase to deliver software with quality. However, flaky tests hamper the evaluation of test results and can increase costs. This is because a flaky test may pass or fail non-deterministically and to identify properly the flakiness of a test requires rerunning the test suite multiple times. To cope with this challenge, approaches have been proposed based on prediction models and machine learning. Existing approaches based on the use of the test case vocabulary may be context-sensitive and prone to overfitting, presenting low performance when executed in a cross-project scenario. To overcome these limitations, we investigate the use of test smells as predictors of flaky tests. We conducted an empirical study to understand if test smells have good performance as a classifier to predict the flakiness in the cross-project context, and analyzed the information gain of each test smell. We also compared the test smell-based approach with the vocabulary-based one. As a result, we obtained a classifier that had a reasonable performance (Random Forest, 0.83) to predict the flakiness in the testing phase. This classifier presented better performance than vocabulary-based model for cross-project prediction. The Assertion Roulette and Sleepy Test test smell types are the ones associated with the best information gain values.

Abstract

Software systems have been continuously evolved and delivered with high quality due to the widespread adoption of automated tests. A recurring issue hurting this scenario is the presence of flaky tests, a test case that may pass or fail non-deterministically. A promising, but yet lacking more empirical evidence, approach is to collect static data of automated tests and use them to predict their flakiness. In this paper, we conducted an empirical study to assess the use of code identifiers to predict test flakiness. To do so, we first replicate most parts of the previous study of Pinto~et~al.~(MSR~2020). This replication was extended by using a different ML Python platform (Scikit-learn) and adding different learning algorithms in the analyses. Then, we validated the performance of trained models using datasets with other flaky tests and from different projects. We successfully replicated the results of Pinto~et~al.~(2020), with minor differences using Scikit-learn; different algorithms had performance similar to the ones used previously. Concerning the validation, we noticed that the recall of the trained models was smaller, and classifiers presented a varying range of decreases. This was observed in both intra-project and inter-projects test flakiness prediction.

9. Plasmonic Temperature Sensor Using Side-Polished Plastic Optical Fiber With Gold Coating

Abstract

All-optical sensors offer promising solutions by reducing fabrication complexity, power requirements, and enabling distributed architectures. However, challenges remain in enhancing performance and reducing costs. In this study, we propose a novel temperature sensor design based on a side-polished plastic optical fiber (OF) covered with a gold layer, achieving a high sensitivity of -0.09 nm/°C over a wide temperature range ( $10~^{\circ } $ C– $70~^{\circ } $ C). In addition, we experimentally explore the influence of various fabrication parameters, including polishing depth, polishing length, and gold sputtering time, on sensor performance, identifying them as critical in the fabrication process. In the considered samples, we found that polishing depths between 0.18 and 0.33 mm and gold deposition times between 20 and 40 s are adequate ranges, with the best performance achieved at a polishing depth of 0.32 mm and a gold sputtering time of 20 s. Our design integrates side-polished OFs with surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensing, providing high sensitivity and rapid response times. This will facilitate real-time temperature monitoring with high precision, even in hard-to-reach or hazardous environments. The transmission-based measurement method enhances sensor mobility and practical utility. Moreover, our approach demonstrates a simple, cost-effective fabrication process, offering significant advantages over existing SPR-based sensors.

Abstract

Bladder exstrophy is a rare urogenital birth defect. In the sub-Saharan context, most cases are diagnosed at birth or older due to lack of prenatal surveillance. The treatment is exclusively surgical. Several techniques have been described and modified over time. The surgical reconstruction technique can be done in a single or several procedures. This clinical observation was reported a case of complex epispadias bladder exstrophy, managed in a single procedure in a 10-year-old boy. The postoperative follow-up was simple.

Abstract

This article reports on the first occurrence of Penicillium sclerotigenum causing post-harvest rot of yam in Côte d'Ivoire. Yam is a significant non-cereal food crop in the country, with Côte d'Ivoire being the world's third-largest producer. Previous studies have identified various fungi responsible for post-harvest rots in yams. Surveys conducted in two cities in Côte d'Ivoire revealed yam tubers exhibiting symptoms of dry brown rot. Morphological and molecular analyses confirmed the presence of Penicillium sclerotigenum as the causal agent. Further monitoring is needed to assess losses and varietal resistance. Abstract

This article reports on the first occurrence of mango dieback disease caused by the fungus Lasiodiplodia brasiliense in Côte d'Ivoire. Surveys conducted in 2020 revealed the presence of mango dieback symptoms, including leaf, twig, and branch drying, as well as tree death. Isolation and analysis of the fungus confirmed its identity as Lasiodiplodia brasiliense. The pathogenicity of the fungus was also demonstrated through a greenhouse experiment. This study highlights the need for further research to understand the variation among isolates and develop effective control strategies. Abstract

Bacterial blight is one of the main constraints of cashew trees that can hamper cashew yield. The objective of this study was to update the distribution map of bacterial blight in cashew production areas in Côte d’Ivoire. Surveys conducted in 2019 during all phenological stages of cashew tree in all production regions made it possible to assess the average infection rate and the average severity index of bacterial blight in 358 orchards. A sampling of symptomatic organs were also carried out. Cashew tree bacterial blight is present in all cashew nut producing regions of Côte d’Ivoire. Bacterial blight symptoms have been observed on cashew tree organs. The infection rates and severity index per region revealed a variability from 25.28 % ( Moronou ) to 99.39 % ( Marahoué ) and from 2.15 % ( Indénié-Duablin ) to 48.87 % (Worodougou ), respectively. Bacterial blight is present in all cashew-growing regions, with varying levels of infection. The average rates above 90 % indicate the severity of the disease. La bactériose est l’une des principales contraintes de l’anacardier susceptibles de freiner le rendement de la noix de cajou. L’objectif de cette étude a été d’actualiser la carte de distribution de la bactériose dans les zones de production de l’anacardier en Côte d’Ivoire. Des prospections conduites en 2019 durant tous les stades phénologiques de l’anacardier dans toutes les régions de production ont permis d’évaluer le taux moyen d’infection et l’indice moyen de sévérité de la bactériose dans 358 vergers. Des échantillonnages d’organes symptomatiques ont été également effectués. la bactériose de l’anacardier est présente dans toutes les régions de production de noix de cajou en Côte d’Ivoire. Les symptômes de la bactériose ont été observés sur les organes de l’anacardier. Les taux d’infection et les indices de sévérité par région ont révélé une variabilité respective de 25,28 % ( Moronou ) à 99,39 % ( Marahoué ) et de 2,15 % ( Indénié-Duablin ) à 48,87 % (Worodougou) La bactériose est présente dans toutes les régions productrices de l’anacardier, avec des niveaux d’infection variables. Les taux moyens, au-delà de 90 % dénotent de la gravité de la maladie.

30. ANTIBIOTIC USAGE IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT SETTING IN MALI

Abstract

Antibiotics remains an issue in intensive care units (ICUs), because of its overuse and the emergence of bacterial resistance. The objective of the study was to evaluate the prescription of antibiotics in ICUs at university teaching and the regional hospitals in Mali. PATIENTS AND METHODS: It was a cross sectorial retrospective and multicentric study over six months. The inclusion criteria were, all the patients hospitalized in ICUs at least for 48 hours with antibiotic treatment. We also included the cost of the daily consumption of antibiotics. The Microsoft excel was used for data entry and the data analysis was done with the software Epi info version 3.5.2. RESULTS: Five hundred sixty-and-six (566) patient les responded to the inclusion criteria. The antibiotics prescription rate was 43.3%. The mean age of the patients was 36.8 ± 20.7. The women were more represented (59.7%). The monotherapy (60.6%) was the most common concept use. The third-generation cephalosporin (3GC) was used in monotherapy (27.7%). The average volume of consumption of antibiotics in monotherapy was the highest. The analysis of the data showed that the volume consumption of antibiotics was different according to grade of the prescribers which was respectively 98972.3 for anaesthesia & intensive care residents and 74990.7 for anaesthetist-intensivist. The treatment was reviewed during the rst 48 hours (99.8%) and was readapted in 106 of the patients (18.7%). We mainly increased the doses of antibiotics 77.4%. The average duration of the treatment was 5.2 ± 3.7 (days). CONCLUSION: The use of antibiotics remains high and uncontrol in intensive care units in Mali, which could be explain by the limited blood culture testing and insufcient of qualied human resource in some of the regional hospitals.

46. Short-term increase in the carriage of azithromycin-resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in mothers and their newborns following intra-partum azithromycin: a post hoc analysis of a double-blind randomized trial

Abstract

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the impact of one oral dose of intrapartum azithromycin (2 g) on the carriage and antibiotic resistance of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in the nasopharynx, breast milk and vaginal swabs of mothers and K. pneumoniae in the nasopharynx of their newborns. METHODS: We performed a post hoc analysis of a double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized-trial (ratio 1:1) conducted in The Gambia. Breast milk (BM) and vaginal swabs (VS) from mothers and nasopharyngeal swabs (NPS) from mother-newborn pairs were collected at different timepoints during the 4 week follow-up. Samples were processed using standard microbiological procedures. For BM and NPS post-intervention results were combined for analysis. RESULTS: In the original trial 829 mothers were randomized. In this analysis, complete sample sets were available for 630 mothers for E. coli analysis (76.0%) and 564 mother-newborn pairs for K. pneumoniae analysis (68.0%). For E. coli, carriage prevalence in BM and VS was similar in both arms but resistance was higher in the azithromycin arm in VS (2.6% versus 0%, P = 0.004). For K. pneumoniae, carriage prevalence was higher in the azithromycin arm for BM (13.8% versus 8.7%, P = 0.055) but not for VS or NPS. Prevalence of azithromycin resistant K. pneumoniae was higher in the azithromycin arm for BM (3.6% versus 1.0%, P = 0.050) and VS (1.5% versus 0% P = 0.057). CONCLUSIONS: Oral intrapartum azithromycin did not reduce carriage of E. coli and K. pneumoniae and was associated with an increase in the prevalence of azithromycin-resistant E. coli and K. pneumoniae isolates in BM and VS.
