The radiation pattern within high energy quark- and gluon-initiated jets (jet substructure) is used extensively as a precision probe of the strong force as well as an environment for optimizing event generators with numerous applications in high energy particle and nuclear physics. Looking at electron-proton collisions is of particular interest as many of the complications present at hadron colliders are absent. A detailed study of modern jet substructure observables, jet angularities, in electron-proton collisions is presented using data recorded using the H1 detector at HERA. The measurement is unbinned and multi-dimensional, using machine learning to correct for detector effects. All of the available reconstructed object information of the respective jets is interpreted by a graph neural network, achieving superior precision on a selected set of jet angularities. Training these networks was enabled by the use of a large number of GPUs in the Perlmutter supercomputer at Berkeley Lab. The particle jets are reconstructed in the laboratory frame, using the $k_{\mathrm{T}}$ jet clustering algorithm. Results are reported at high transverse momentum transfer $Q^2>150$ GeV${}^2$, and inelasticity $0.2 < y < 0.7$. The analysis is also performed in sub-regions of $Q^2$, thus probing scale dependencies of the substructure variables. The European physical journal / C Particles and fields C 78(6), 473 (2018). doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-018-5848-3, Measurements of open charm and beauty production cross sections in deep inelastic ep scattering at HERA from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations are combined. Reduced cross sections are obtained in the kinematic range of negative four-momentum transfer squared of the photon $2.5~\hbox {GeV}^2\le Q^2 \le 2000\, \hbox {GeV}^2$ and Bjorken scaling variable $3 \cdot 10^{-5} \le x_\mathrm{Bj} \le 5 \cdot 10^{-2}$ . The combination method accounts for the correlations of the statistical and systematic uncertainties among the different datasets. Perturbative QCD calculations are compared to the combined data. A next-to-leading order QCD analysis is performed using these data together with the combined inclusive deep inelastic scattering cross sections from HERA. The running charm- and beauty-quark masses are determined as $m_c(m_c) = 1.290^{+0.046-0.041} \mathrm{(exp/fit)}$ ${}^{+0.062-0.014} \mathrm{(model)}$ ${}^{+0.003-0.031} \mathrm{(parameterisation)}$ GeV and $m_b(m_b) = 4.049^{+0.104-0.109} \mathrm{(exp/fit)}$ ${}^{+0.090-0.032} \mathrm{(model)}$ ${}^{+0.001-0.031} \mathrm{(parameterisation)}~\mathrm{GeV}$ ., Published by Springer24875, Heidelberg

A first measurement is presented of exclusive photoproduction of Ï0 mesons associated with leading neutrons at HERA. The data were taken with the H1 detector in the years 2006 and 2007 at a centre-of-mass energy of s=319 Â GeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.16Â pb -1 . The Ï0 mesons with transverse momenta pT0.35 , are detected in the Forward Neutron Calorimeter. The phase space of the measurement is defined by the photon virtuality Q2

- Abstract
Inclusive ep double differential cross sections for neutral current deep inelastic scattering are measured with the H1 detector at HERA. The data were taken with a lepton beam energy of 27.6  GeV and two proton beam energies of Ep=460 and 575 GeV corresponding to centre-of-mass energies of 225 and 252 GeV, respectively. The measurements cover the region of 6.5Ã10-4â¤xâ¤0.65 for 35â¤Q2â¤800 GeV 2 up to y=0.85 . The measurements are used together with previously published H1 data at Ep=920 GeV and lower Q2 data at Ep=460 , 575 and 920 GeV to extract the longitudinal proton structure function FL in the region 1.5â¤Q2â¤800 GeV 2 .

The analysed data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 306 pb^-1, almost equally shared between both beam charges. The cross section is measured as a function of the virtuality Q^2 of the exchanged photon and the centre-of-mass energy W of the gamma* p system in the kinematic domain 6.5 < Q^2 < 80 GeV^2, 30 < W < 140 GeV and |t| < 1 GeV^2, where t denotes the squared momentum transfer at the proton vertex. The cross section is determined differentially in t for different Q^2 and W values and exponential t-slope parameters are derived. Using e^+ p and e^- p data samples, a beam charge asymmetry is extracted for the first time in the low Bjorken x kinematic domain. The observed asymmetry is attributed to the interference between Bethe-Heitler and deeply virtual Compton scattering processes. - Abstract
A search for events containing an isolated electron or muon and missing transverse momentum produced in e±p collisions is performed with the H1 and ZEUS detectors at HERA. The data were taken in the period 1994-2007 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 0.98 fb-1. The observed event yields are in good overall agreement with the Standard Model prediction, which is dominated by single W production. In the e+p data, at large hadronic transverse momentum PT X > 25 GeV, a total of 23 events are observed compared to a prediction of 14.0 ± 1.9. The total single W boson production cross section is measured as 1.06 ± 0.16 (stat.) ± 0.07 (sys.) pb, in agreement with an Standard Model (SM) expectation of 1.26 ± 0.19 pb.

A search for excited electrons is performed using the full e ± p data sample collected by the H1 experiment at HERA, corresponding to a total luminosity of 475 pb -1. The electroweak decays of excited electrons e * → e γ, e * → e Z and e * → ν W with subsequent hadronic or leptonic decays of the W and Z bosons are considered. No evidence for excited electron production is found. Mass dependent exclusion limits on e * production cross sections and on the ratio f / Λ of the coupling to the compositeness scale are derived within gauge mediated models. These limits extend the excluded region compared to previous excited electron searches. The e * production via contact interactions is also addressed for the first time in ep collisions. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. The radiation pattern within high energy quark- and gluon-initiated jets (jet substructure) is used extensively as a precision probe of the strong force as well as an environment for optimizing event generators with numerous applications in high energy particle and nuclear physics. Looking at electron-proton collisions is of particular interest as many of the complications present at hadron colliders are absent. A detailed study of modern jet substructure observables, jet angularities, in electron-proton collisions is presented using data recorded using the H1 detector at HERA. The measurement is unbinned and multi-dimensional, using machine learning to correct for detector effects. All of the available reconstructed object information of the respective jets is interpreted by a graph neural network, achieving superior precision on a selected set of jet angularities. Training these networks was enabled by the use of a large number of GPUs in the Perlmutter supercomputer at Berkeley Lab. The particle jets are reconstructed in the laboratory frame, using the k T jet clustering algorithm. Results are reported at high transverse momentum transfer Q 2 > 150 GeV 2 , and inelasticity 0.2 < y < 0.7. The analysis is also performed in sub-regions of Q 2 , thus probing scale dependencies of the substructure variables. The data are compared with a variety of predictions and point towards possible improvements of such models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
