7. Radial excitation of light mesons and the $\gamma \gamma^* \rightarrow \pi^0$ transition form factor

Abstract

We investigate radial excitation of the quark-antiquark pair in the $\pi^0$ meson and its effects on the $\gamma \gamma^* \rightarrow \pi^0$ transition form factor in the framework of light-cone perturbative QCD. The existing constraints on the light-cone wave function of the lowest Fock state $|q { \bar q} \rangle$ in the $\pi^0$ meson allow a sizeable radial excitation of the quark-antiquark pair. We construct the light-cone wave function for the quark-antiquark pair in the first radially excited state (the 2S state) using a simple harmonic oscillator potential. The distribution amplitude obtained for the 2S state has two nodes in $x$ at low scale of $Q$ and thereby has a much strong scale dependence than the 1S state. Contributions from this radial excitation to the $\gamma \gamma^* \rightarrow \pi^0$ transition form factor exhibit different $Q^2$-dependence behavior from the ground state and thus can modify the prediction for the transition form factor in the medium-large region of $Q^2$., Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures; to appear in Phys. Abstract

In order to detect overlapping community structures in complex networks,the idea of density peaks clustering algorithm is introduced.However,applying the density peaks clustering algorithm to community detection still has problems such as how to measure the distance between nodes and how to generate overlapping partition results.Therefore,a node local similarity based two-stage density peaks algorithm for overlapping community detection is proposed (LSDPC).By combining hub promoted index and connection contribution degree,a new node local similarity index is defined,and the node distance is measured with the node local similarity.Then the local density and minimum distance of nodes are used to calculate their center values and Chebyshev inequality is used to select communities’ center nodes.The overlapping communities are obtained through initial assignment and overlapping assignment.Experimental results on real network datasets and synthetic network datasets show that the proposed algorithm can effectively detect overlapping community structure,and the results are better than that of other algorithms.

Abstract

The possible effect on the flavour spectra of astronomical neutrinos from a neutrino-dark matter interaction has been investigated for decoherent neutrinos. In this work, we report results calculated for coherent neutrinos. This was done with two different models for the neutrino dark-matter interactions: a flavour state interaction,as for the weak interaction in the Standard Model, and a mass state interaction, which is predicted by certain non-Standard Models (specifically Scotogenic models). It was found that using a coherent analysis dramatically increased the explorable parameter space for the neutrino-dark matter interaction. However, the detection of coherent astronomical neutrinos presents a significant challenge to experimentalists, because such a detection would require an improvement in energy resolution by at least six orders of magnitude, with similar improvements in astronomical distance determinations., Comment: 18 pages, 12 figures

27. Extraction of neutrino mixing parameters from experiments with multiple identical detectors

Abstract

The statistical method used in the analyses of measurements of neutrino oscillation mixing angle $\theta_{13}$ by the Daya Bay Collaboration is based on variational minimization of a $\chi^2$ function defined in terms of quantities of interest and pull factors which are introduced to deal with effects of systematic uncertainties. For both experiments, the number of parameters that need to be determined is great than the number of available data points (20 vs 6 for the Daya Bay and 12 vs 2 for the RENO). While the results for the mixing angle and the normalization factor were reported, results for the other parameters (pull factors) were omitted in their publications. There exist multiple sets of parameters from the minimization of the $\chi^2$ function. We investigate the sensitivity of the extracted mixing angle on this non-uniqueness of minimization results for the Daya Bay data using two methods of minimization. We report results for all parameters, including those of physics interest and pull factors. The obtained results for the mixing angle and the normalization factor are in agreement with those reported by the Daya Bay Collaboration. Furthermore, we present plots of confidence level contours in the space of the mixing angle and normalization factor. We also present results from fittings using a reduced $\chi^2$ function with fewer parameters than the one employed by the Daya Bay Collaboration., Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Chlorantraniliprole (CAP) is a diamide insecticide with high efficacy against many pest insects, including the black cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon. Agrotis ipsilon is a serious pest causing significant yield losses in crops. Glutathione‐S‐transferases (GSTs) belong to a family of metabolic enzymes that can detoxify a wide range of pesticides. However, little is known about the functions of GSTs in CAP tolerance in A. ipsilon. RESULTS: A cDNA sequence (designated AiGSTu1) encoding an unclassified GST was identified from A. ipsilon. AiGSTu1 is highly expressed during the 3rd‐instar larval and the pupal stages. Most of the mRNA transcripts were found in larval Malpighian tubules. Exposure to CAP strongly enhanced AiGSTu1 expression, GST activity, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and malondialdehyde levels in larvae. H2O2 treatment upregulated the transcription level of AiGSTu1, suggesting that CAP‐induced oxidative stress may activate AiGSTu1 expression. The activity of recombinant AiGSTu1 was inhibited by CAP in a dose‐dependent manner. Metabolism assay results demonstrated that AiGSTu1 is capable of depleting CAP. Overexpression of AiGSTu1 enhanced the tolerance of Escherichia coli cells to H2O2 and the oxidative stress inducer, cumene hydroperoxide. Silencing of AiGSTu1 by RNA interference increased the susceptibility of A. ipsilon larvae to CAP. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the potential role of AiGSTu1 in CAP detoxification and will improve our understanding of CAP tolerance in A. ipsilon. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.
