20. Efficacy and safety of argatroban combined with plasmin in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction

Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of combined application of argatroban and plasmin on the degree of neurological function deficit and neutrophil (NEUT) count in patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI) and their safety. Methods A total of 221 patients with ACI admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from October 2018 to January 2022 were selected as the research objects, and they were randomly divided into four groups: control group (n=71), plasmin group (n=42), argatroban group (n=40), and combined group (n=68). All four groups were given conventional treatment, and no other treatment was added to the control group. The plasmin group was added with plasmin injection by intravenous drip, 100 IU on the first day of treatment, and 300 IU on the second day. The argatroban group was pumped intravenously with 10 mg of argatroban injection every 12 hours. The combined group was given argatroban injection and plasmin injection every day (the usage was the same as before). The changes of neurological function deficit and blood NEUT count before and after treatment and the adverse reactions during treatment were observed and recorded. Results After treatment, except for the control group, the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores of the other three groups were significantly lower than those before treatment (P＜0.01). The NIHSS score of the combined group was significantly lower than that of the control group, the plasmin group and the argatroban group, with the statistically significant differences (P＜0.05). After treatment, except for the control group, the blood NEUT count of the other three groups decreased compared to before treatment(P＜0.05). Blood NEUT count in the combined group was significantly lower than that in the control group, plasmin group, and argatroban group, with the statistically significant differences (P＜0.05). There was no obvious adverse reactions in the four groups. Conclusion The combination of argatroban and plasmin in the treatment of ACI can significantly reduce blood NEUT count, effectively improve neurological function deficit, with significant short-term efficacy and good safety.

Abstract

Modification of graphene oxide (GO) by vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) was investigated to study the effect of silanized GO on radical graft copolymerization of GO onto deproteinized natural rubber (DPNR). The modified GO, GO-VTES (a and b), was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, contact angle, thermal gravimetric analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. The XRD results showed the appearance of an amorphous region of silica particles at a diffraction angle of 22°. The formation of silica was investigated by 29Si NMR, and it was found that the hydrolysis and condensation of VTES proceed more completely in basic conditions than in acidic conditions. The silica content of GO-VTES(b) was 43%, which is higher than that of GO-VTES(a) (8%). Morphology of silica was observed by SEM. The DPNR/GO-VTES nanocomposites prepared with the same amount of GO, GO-VTES(a), and GO-VTES(b) were characterized with tensile tests and dynamic mechanical tests. The stress at break of DPNR/GO-VTES(a) and DPNR/GO-VTES(b) was 5.2 MPa and 4.3 MPa, respectively, which were lower than that of DPNR/GO. However, it exhibited higher stress at small strains and higher storage modulus than DPNR/GO.

Abstract

Current learning-based single image super-resolution (SISR) algorithms underperform on real data due to the deviation in the assumed degrada-tion process from that in the real-world scenario. Conventional degradation processes consider applying blur, noise, and downsampling (typicallybicubic downsampling) on high-resolution (HR) images to synthesize low-resolution (LR) counterparts. However, few works on degradation modelling have taken the physical aspects of the optical imaging system intoconsideration. In this paper, we analyze the imaging system optically andexploit the characteristics of the real-world LR-HR pairs in the spatial frequency domain. We formulate a real-world physics-inspired degradationmodel by considering bothopticsandsensordegradation; The physical degradation of an imaging system is modelled as a low-pass filter, whose cut-off frequency is dictated by the object distance, the focal length of thelens, and the pixel size of the image sensor. In particular, we propose to use a convolutional neural network (CNN) to learn the cutoff frequency of real-world degradation process. The learned network is then applied to synthesize LR images from unpaired HR images. The synthetic HR-LR image pairs are later used to train an SISR network. We evaluatethe effectiveness and generalization capability of the proposed degradation model on real-world images captured by different imaging systems. Experimental results showcase that the SISR network trained by using our synthetic data performs favorably against the network using the traditional degradation model. Abstract

AT2019wey is a transient discovered by the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) survey in December of 2019. Follow-up optical, radio, and X-ray observations led to classification of this source as a Galactic black hole X-ray binary. We carried out one-epoch 6.7 GHz European VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) Network (EVN) and two-epoch multiple-frequency (1.6, 4.5, 6.7 GHz) Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations within a year after its discovery. These observations reveal a fading and flat-spectrum radio source with no discernible motion. These features suggest the detection of a compact jet. The source appears resolved at milliarcsecond scales, and the source angular size versus frequency trend is consistent with scatter broadening. This allows us to constrain the lower limit of the source distance to 6 kpc, if the scattering medium is in a Galactic spiral arm. For a source location larger than 3 kpc, the estimated upper limit of the peculiar velocity, relative to the local standard of rest, suggests the asymmetric natal kick may have occurred during the black hole formation stage., Comment: pages 9, 4 figures, A&A accepted for publication
