Recent years have been marked by growing adoption of Archival Resource Key (ARK) identifiers in France and in French-speaking countries, growing reliance on National Library of France (BnF) ARKs for data dissemination and growing demand for data permanence from the BnF community – the French libraries. The BnF has acknowledged these changes through renewed efforts in education, communication, and development of good practices. This progress report describes the recent upsurge of interest in ARKs, the main difficulties posed by identifier management for the BnF and its community, and finally “ARK Summit 2018”, a major event in the construction of a francophone community of interest around ARK identifiers.

The PREMIS 3.0 Ontology Working Group recognized the need for the preservation community to be able to use Semantic Web tech- nology to leverage systems managing the long-term preservation of digital holdings. Driven by the main principle of adherence to the PREMIS Data Dictionary, and a set of well-established Linked Data principles, the draft release of the PREMIS 3 OWL ontology comes after two years of conceptualization, discussion and experi- mentation. The release of the draft was followed by a public review of the revised ontology soliciting a wider discussion about the con- ceptual choices expressed by the ontology. This article explains how interoperability issues have been addressed, with the intent of maintaining continuity between the PREMIS Data Dictionary and the PREMIS OWL ontology. Cette présentation, à l'origine donnée dans une formation Médiadix, s'intéresse à la préservation numérique en privilégiant le point de vue des bibliothèques patrimoniales engagées dans des processus de numérisation de leurs collections et/ou de collecte de contenus nativement numériques. La plupart des considérations s'appliquent néanmoins aux autres institutions de conservation du patrimoine historique, culturel et scientifique. Elle parcourt rapidement les problématiques liées à cette activité (préservation du train d'octets : stockage, intégrité et transfert ; empaquetage ; formats de fichiers ; métadonnées ; identifiants pérennes).

International audience; This paper aims to explain how the National Library of France (BnF) faced the question of the information lifecycle, during the implementation of its digital preservation system, in the light of the experience it acquired managing and using this system, from a theoretical approach following the OAIS reference model to an implementation. It was understood very early that from a preservation point of view the management of subsequent Versions and Editions of an Information Package was a particularly sensitive problem akin to risks management. However it was thought at the time that the system should be able to manage the lifecycle of an AIP (Archival Information Package) in a universal way that would be valid whatever the package considered and the context. These ideas quickly proved to be impractical and didn't resist the test of reality. Some improvements were provided, while taking into account the rest of the digital ecosystem of the BnF.

Members of the digital preservation community collate and cap-ture metadata to describe file formats, software, operating systemsand hardware, and use it to inform and drive digital preservationprocesses. In this work we describe how the infrastructure ofWikidata meets the requirements for a technical registry of meta-data related to computer software and computing environments.Collaboratively creating this metadata, and making it available aslinked open data, will reduce the amount of redundant work digitalpreservation professionals do in order to describe resources. Hav-ing machine-readable, linked open data that describes the digitalpreservation domain will also allow us to reuse this data in our soft-ware applications and information systems, reducing the overheadwhen building new tools. Furthermore the Wikidata social andtechnical infrastructure will enable the long term continued accessto the data digital preservation practitioners collate and capture.Wikidata is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF), andis created through commons-based peer production [3]. Simplyput, Wikidata is a knowledge base of structured data that anyonecan edit [40]. The infrastructure of Wikidata is created using freesoftware, and is designated to the public domain. All content inWikidata is licensed so that other may freely reuse the data. Vol-unteer editors, coordinating their own work, add data to Wikidata.Through this analysis we demonstrate how the infrastructure ofWikidata provides distinct advantages to the cultural heritage do-main that proprietary knowledge bases do not provide.

Introduction: childhood asthma is a public health problem (9,8% to 13,4% of children, estimated annual cost of € 1,5 billion in France). There is an association between fungi in housing and asthma, but the causal link was not established. Methods: international literature review using Pubmed, Embase and the Cochrane Library. A reference review was selected (Tischer 2011) then we reviewed the articles published by the end of October 2014. Results: we included 38 publications and analysed the results according to the Bradford Hill's criteria for causality. Data came from 28 countries. An association between fungi and asthma was found in most studies. There were some data for a dose-response relationship. The biological mechanisms were documented. There were limited data available on temporality and experimental evidence. Discussion: strength, plausibility and biological coherence and consistency of the association have been demonstrated. Further prospective cohort and interventional studies should be conducted, in order to supplement the existing data on biological gradient, temporality and experiment. A standardized exposure measurement should be defined. There is sufficient evidence of association to recommend prevention and remediation of fungal contamination measures. Conclusion: although further studies are recommended, there is strong evidence for presumption of a causal link between fungi in housing and childhood asthma. Physicians involved in follow-up of children should consider this risk.; Introduction : l’asthme de l’enfant est un problème de santé publique (9,8% à 13,4% des enfants, coût annuel estimé à 1,5 milliards d'euros). Une association entre l’exposition aux moisissures au domicile et l’asthme existe, sans lien de causalité démontré. Méthode : Revue de la littérature internationale. Nous avons interrogé Pubmed, Embase et la Cochrane Library. Une revue de littérature de référence a été retenue (Tischer 2011) puis les articles publiés jusque octobre 2014 ont été analysés selon les méthodes d’analyse critique d’article. Résultats : nous avons inclus 38 études et analysé les résultats selon les critères de Bradford Hill. Les données étaient issues de 28 pays. Un lien entre moisissures et asthme était montré dans la majorité des études. Il existait des éléments en faveur d'un effet-dose. Les mécanismes biologiques étaient expliqués. Discussion : force de l’association, plausibilité et cohérence biologiques, et reproductibilité étaient démontrées. Des études de cohorte et interventionnelles devraient être menées pour compléter les données expérimentales, la relation dose-effet et la temporalité de l’association. Une méthode standardisée de mesure de l'exposition doit être étudiée. Les données en faveur d’un lien sont suffisantes pour recommander la prévention et le traitement de la contamination fongique. Conclusion : des études complémentaires sont recommandées, mais la présomption d’un lien de causalité entre moisissures au domicile et asthme de l’enfant est forte. Les médecins impliqués dans le suivi des enfants doivent y prêter attention.

The PREMIS 3.0 Ontology Working Group is a community interested in using Semantic Web Technology to leverage systems managing the long-term preservation of digital archives. The version 3 of the PREMIS Data Dictionary has stimulated the community to revise the current PREMIS OWL Ontology. The revision process aims not only to integrate the conceptual model with the changes defined by the new data model of the PREMIS version 3.0, but also to ease the implementation of Semantic Web Technology in the digital preservation community.

International audience; As one of the 24 partners of the project Europeana Sounds, the BnF provides to Europeana metadata related to digitized sound recordings from its cultural heritage collection. This article describes the BnF experience with the Europeana Sounds project by taking as its point of departure the multiple challenges related to data transformation from base material, the MARC XML records that comprise also metadata related to digital objects, into the RDF based Europeana Data Model (EDM). By way of this experience the BnF is exploring technical methods for exposing and sharing in the best possible way the richness and granularity of its metadata, as well sharing its areas of expertise, such as controlled vocabularies and best practices with persistent identifiers. The array of issues addressed involves instructions that combine analysis of traditional bibliographic description, digital library metadata curation, critical look on the extant relationships between various data repositories within the BnF, current and future role of library catalogues, metadata production workflows, role of metadata quality, licencing issues, and more. The article discusses the organization of work so that skills and responsibilities are shared in the most efficient way. It also discusses lessons learned and perspectives regarding the evolution of the profession of the metadata librarian, including the need for a better understanding of the potential for the metadata to be reused and reprocessed, and the necessity to develop modeling and technical skills. Finally, in exploratory mode, the article highlights the possibilities offered by the Linked Open Data technologies for metadata reprocessing in innovative ways by taking down the data silos borders.

The Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS) 1.x schema has an established community of users including academic and national libraries, archives, and museums as well as support from a number of commercial and open source tool and service vendors. While the established community of METS users has adapted systems and tools to METS expressed in XML, many in the library and archive communities are moving toward the use of newer technologies such as those of the Semantic Web and linked data for the digital content that they have been collecting. As a result, the METS Editorial Board (MEB) has been contemplating a data model for a next generation METS schema that will facilitate these kinds of technologies. The initial approach to a new METS data model aligned very closely to metadata schemes in the preservation arena, namely PREMIS, but the MEB thought it essential to test the new METS 2.0 data model against existing canonical implementations of METS, and developing complementary data models. This workshop will describe current and ongoing efforts to evaluate and further develop a new METS data model. Participants are invited to participate in the discussions, and the subsequent evaluation / refinement of a METS 2.0 data model.

International audience; The National Library of France (BnF) has recently implemented a new module for its Scalable Preservation and Archiving Repository (SPAR) to set up preservation strategies based on formats, agents, workflows, tools and tests, and managed asreference packages in the Archive. This module aims to fulfill an objective: for SPAR to be fully self-documented. Formats, agents and workflows are formally described and preserved along with the Information packages in which such elements are involved. Although this was a feature that was included from the beginnings of SPAR, the new Preservation Planning module aims to provide a tool that can more easily build these reference packages and that will more closely involve domain experts and the IT department in the processes of preservation planning. But the main innovation lies in the documentation of decisions that directed their selection as standards in SPAR: test data are now preserved as a new kind of reference package.

L'article étudie des textes produits par le consulat du Château de Limoges entre le XIVe et le XVIe siècle pour montrer que la francisation à Limoges a connu une période de résistance de l'occitan documentaire au cours de laquelle les vernaculaires se sont trouvés en position d'équilibre, s'influençant mutuellement, avant qu'entre 1480 et 1520 la situation ne bascule définitivement en faveur du français. S'appuyant sur des exemples d'interlecte occitan-français, il interroge également la notion de conscience linguistique des scripteurs, notamment dans le processus de traduction.

My study investigates multilingualism (Occitan/Latin/French) in the context of relations between a local power, namely the Consulate of the château de Limoges, and central powers, here the King of France and the King of England in his position as Duke of Aquitaine. I shall endeavour to show, with recourse to the surviving documents and in particular the multiple customaries, how and to what end each language is used, and what problems are created by the very necessary translations. I shall also consider the authority conferred on each language in the context of the legal battle pitting the Viscount of Limoges against the Consulate, and hence the more general issue of the place of written language in this conflict., La communication porte sur le multilinguisme (occitan, latin et français) dans les relations entre pouvoir local, à savoir le Consulat du château de Limoges, et pouvoirs centraux, ici le roi de France et le roi d’Angleterre en tant que duc d’Aquitaine. Je tenterai de montrer, à travers les documents subsistants et notamment les multiples rédactions des coutumes, comment s’emploie chaque langue, dans quel but elle est utilisée et quels problèmes les indispensables traductions suscitent. Je m’intéresserai également à l’autorité dont chaque langue est investie dans le cadre de la lutte juridique opposant le vicomte de Limoges au Consulat, et aborderai donc plus généralement la place de l’écrit dans ce conflit., Lo multilinguisme (occitan, latin, frances) dins las relacions entre poder local e poders centrals. L’exemple del Consulat del castel de Lemòtges fáçia al rèi de França e al rèi d’Anglatèrra duc d’Aquitánia. Ensajarai de mostrar, per la documentacion que demòra e especialament per las multiplas redaccions de las costumas, cossi cada lenga s’emplega, amb quina intencion òm se servís de caduna, e quins problèmes suscitan las reviradas indispensablas. Atanben m’interessarai a l’autòritat de cada lenga dins l’encastre de la lucha juridica entre lo vescomte de Lemòtges e lo Consulat, e mai generalament la plaça de l’escrich dins aqueste conflicte.
