A recent development in case hardening treatment of stainless steel ensures homogenous casing. No distortions in color, shape or dimensions were observed after treatment. Hardness varies from 1,000 to 1,200 Hv, which decreases with radius as measured from the metal core. It takes 800 hours for the treated steel to rupture as compared to 10 hours for untreated steel.
