While businesses make their financial analysis and planning according to the balance sheet and income statement, businesses that want to make more accurate decisions also benefit from the cash flow statement. In this context, businesses are divided into profiles according to the criteria determined by Gup et al., based on cash flows from operating activities, cash flows from investment activities and cash flows from financial activities, which are the components of the cash flow statement. In this study, cash flow profiles of 47 companies traded in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) 100 index were determined developed by Gup et al. according to the 2012-2021 cash flow table data. According to their cash flow profiles, 57.87% of the companies are 2nd profile "successful businesses", 23.19% are 4th profile "growing businesses", 8.51% are 3rd profile "declining or restructuring companies". " and 8.30% clustered in the 6th Profile "fast growing young business" profiles. The CRITIC-based MOORA method, one of the multi-criteria decisionmaking methods, was used in the ranking, which was made by taking into account the cash flow profiles of the companies. Which of the criteria determined in the ranking of the companies will be explained better by the CRITIC method, and the ranking of these companies according to the determined criteria was made by the MOORA method. According to the criteria weighting made with the CRITIC method, the most important criteria to be taken as a basis for the ranking of the companies were determined as leverage ratio, group model score, stock return, market value / book value ratio, price earnings ratio, total debt and earnings per share. EGEEN, KUTPO, SASA, HEKTS and OTKAR were identified as the top 5 companies in the ranking based on the MOORA method, taking into account the financial ratios and the group model score. This research aims to test and analyze information from the cash flow statement on the share return. The cash flow intended is from operating, financing, and investing activities. Meanwhile, the shares utilized belong to the infrastructure, utility, and telecommunication companies listed on the Indonesian capital market between 2018 and 2021. Because this study uses the change in three cash flows, the secondary data from 2017 to 2021 based on the firm annual reports and the stock price at the end of these years are employed. Additionally, the t-statistics and their probability provided by a multiple regression model to statistically examine the hypotheses proposed are applied. Finally, this study concludes that the higher the cash flow from investing activities, the higher the stock return. However, the positive change in the financing cash flow tends to reduce this return. Meanwhile, this return is not affected by the cash flow from operating activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article deals with the theoretical aspects of the cash flow statement analysis and presents the cash flow classification. Horizontal and vertical analysis of the financial statements of the transport company “Transpo” for 2019–2021 was performed: cash flows from operating activities, cash flows from investing activities, cash flows from financing activities, cash flows, cash and cash equivalents were analized. The company's operating cash flows were mainly affected by net profit, depreciation and amortization expenses. The majority of cash flows from investing activities were related to the acquisition of fixed assets. Cash flows from financing activities were dominated by borrowings and repayments. The net cash flows generated by the company were negative due to high payments from the company's investment and financial activities. Cash flow statement is reported with cash flow components consisting of fundamental, investing and financing activities. A financial pattern is realized according to the positive and negative cash flow direction that occurs in each of these components. With these realized cash flow patterns, eight possible cash flow profiles are determined. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the cash flow profiles of the companies operating in the manufacturing industry sector traded in Borsa Istanbul. For this purpose, the cash flow table data of a total of 70 enterprises consisting of enterprises in the manufacturing industry sub-sectors for the period 2012-2021 were used. According to the review, It has been determined that the enterprises are represented by profile 2, which has the quality of successful enterprise, profile 4, which has the quality of growing enterprise, and profile 6, which has the quality of young enterprise, in all years, respectively. Previous studies show that, in common-law countries, the explanatory power of stock returns is higher using cash flows than earnings and accruals, while the opposite is true in code-law countries. Moreover, the literature has shown the existence of a country-specific effect motivated by different causes (taxation, financial system, creditor protection, among others). Our aim is to analyze whether this country-specific effect exists among companies in the largest Eurozone countries (France, Germany, Italy and Spain) despite the common regulatory framework, and also to study the causes that explain this country effect. We find empirical evidence that French, Italian and Spanish firms are influenced by tax rules, while German companies are more affected by creditors protection; also, Spain presents a bank-oriented financial system. Besides, the transitory earnings effect, characteristic of code-law countries, is not a cause of the country-specific effect. Therefore, national regulations are more relevant than the general EU regulatory framework.

The aim of the study is to evaluate the financial performance of the companies registered in the BIST Technology index (XUTEK) for the years 2019 and 2020, based on the cash flow rates. In the study, financial performance evaluation of 19 enterprises, whose financial statements for the analysis period registered in XUTEK can be accessed, were carried out. In the performance evaluation, 16 financial ratios based on cash flow ratios calculated from the financial statements published on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) were used. The Critic method was used to calculate the criterion weights, and the CoCoSo method, which was developed in recent years from multi-criteria decision making techniques (MCDM), was used in the realization of financial performance rankings. In addition, in order to compare the accuracy of the findings of the CoCoSo method, the ranking results of the two methods were compared by performing the financial performance ranking with the TOPSIS method, which is frequently used in the literature and whose results have been proven to be accurate and reliable. Spearman's Rank Relationship Test was used to measure the consistency between the analysis results. According to the results of the analysis, the financial performance rankings of technology enterprises for the period 2018-2021 have varied over the years. The financial health hypothesis argues that the valuation multiple of book value of equity (earnings) increases (decreases) as financial health decreases. By considering the liquidity dimension of financial health, we analyze an accrual-based liquidity ratio (current ratio) and a cash-based liquidity ratio (OCF ratio) from the perspective of this hypothesis. Using the median values of these ratios, we divide the sample consisting of listed firms on Borsa Istanbul during 2009–2018 into two and document the ensuing outcomes. Valuation multiples of book value of equity and earnings are reported as being statistically indifferent between low-liquid and high-liquid subgroups obtained for the median current ratio. However, the valuation multiple of book value of equity (earnings) significantly increases (decreases) for the low-liquid subgroup below the median OCF ratio. As the latter is consistent with the financial health hypothesis, this study reveals that the OCF ratio is a more convenient and reliable measure of liquidity than the current ratio.

The global economic crisis, exacerbated by the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, has led to a significant deterioration in the financial state of most economic entities. This problem has also affected public sector entities receiving budget financing. Even if a given public sector entity is engaged in entrepreneurial activity, with a decrease in sales cash flow decreases, whereas accounts receivable and payable increase. To carry out their statutory activities, state entities of the penitentiary system in the Russian Federation use not only budgetary funds, but also funds received from the sale of products manufactured by convicts. Therefore, the interest of users in the cash flows of penitentiary institutions is steadily increasing. The above strengthens the information and analytical functions of cash flow statements. Unlike other forms of reporting, the cash flow statement should report cash flows during the period classified by operating and investing activities (financing activity is not typical for penitentiary entities). In addition, the statement of cash flows provides useful information not only for controlling the use of budget funds, but also for current and forecast analysis. The article investigates the theoretical principles of accounting of cash flows of public sector entities of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation. Results of the study include a proposal to improve the form of the cash flow statement by including an analytical feature — the source of financing activities. The study also presents and tests a methodology for analyzing cash flows in the context of funding sources.

The present study is concerned about the relationship between the cash flow statement and payment balance sheet of listed companies on the Iraq Stock Exchange, compared with the conducted studies on the Tehran Stock Exchange. In other words, the present study attempts to figure out whether or not the change of cash flow statement items and balance sheets can lead to an increase or decrease in the changes in audit fees.The multivariable regression model was used for hypothesis testing. Research hypotheses were tested using a 774 firm-year sample on the Tehran Stock Exchange and 210 firm-year on the Iraq Stock exchange during 2012-2017 using multiple regression models based on the mixed data technique.The obtained results indicate that there is a significant relationship between the change of cash flow statement items and balance sheet and audit fees, which means the relationship between changes in debts, assets, dividends, operational, investment, and financing cash flow and tenure, audit fee, and auditor change is significant. The current study is the first study that compares the relationship between cash flow statement items and balance sheet and audit fee of listed companies on the (Iran and Iraq) stock exchange, so this study contributes to the development of knowledge in this field.

The activity of insurance and operation of insurance companies is very important in the context of development of financial organizations that operate in the territory of many countries, including the Republic of Serbia. A report that is of crucial importance for insurance companies in the context of an adequate cash flow management is a cash flow statement. Bearing in mind the specificity of the insurance industry, as well as the risks associated with it, cash flow is the basic focus of financial management. For insurance companies, it presents an overview of cash flows that occurred during the previous accounting period. The aim of the paper is to show the importance of efficient cash flow management in insurance companies from the aspect of their planning, and to this effect, the paper provides the simulation of the internal report on cash flows that is done monthly for domestic insurance companies in the function of efficient liquidity management of the insurance company.

Cash management is of great importance for the successful operation of insurance companies, and the amount of cash is affected by many management decisions. Often you might encounter in the financial papers and textbooks the assertion that cash is the 'bloodstream' of business. In this respect, it is emphasized that it is important for the accountants to provide timely information on cash flows. The report that is especially important for financial decision-making is the statement of cash flows, if one bears in mind that insurance companies take risks in dealing with intangible products, and therefore need to be sufficiently liquid and solvent to pay the obligations that are arising from claims at the time of the accident or the occurrence of hazards.

This study sought to identify incentives that influence the accounting choices for classifying interest and dividends received or paid in Cash Flow Statements (CFSs), in the period from 2008 to 2014, in non-financial companies of the Brazilian capital market. The hypotheses refer to the effect of the choice of classification for interest and dividends over cash flow from operations (CFO), according to indebtedness, profitability, size, negative CFO, sector, and auditor. This article seeks to contribute by providing evidence on the accounting choices for classification in CFSs, considering the lack of consensus in the results of studies in the Brazilian capital market and helping to better understand these accounting choices and the incentives behind them. A correct understanding of the information in CFSs is fundamental for them to be useful to their users. The existence of accounting choices for classification in CFSs may directly affect this understanding and, consequently, their usefulness. The results help in better understanding the discretion contained in CFSs, enabling the correct use of their information. They can also generate evidence for regulatory bodies to rethink their accounting rules and for academia to direct future research. Two panel data models were developed, using a sample of 352 companies, 2,290 analyzed reports, and 3,764 data items. The results indicate that companies with a greater level of debt, profitability, and size make their accounting choices in order to report higher CFO in the CFS. The evidence obtained reinforces the international findings and adds new analyses in the Brazilian context, contributing to the development of accounting choice theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For smooth functioning of key business activities, sufficient amount of cash is needed to meet an obligation when it becomes due or to meet an unanticipated expense. In India, cash flow is prepared as per the guidelines of Ind AS 7 - Statement of Cash Flows. The main objective of this standard is to provide information about the "historical changes in cash and cash equivalents" through the statement of cash flows. The financial analysis of different entities largely depends on accounting ratios, particularly in the areas of return on assets and sales to income. But, it is interesting to note that Ind AS 7 does not suggest any such set of ratios at all. Though cash flow statement can be treated as an integral part of financial statement, it is hardly found that authors of accounting have developed any set of cash flow ratios in order to evaluate the performance of a business. This paper attempts to use a set of cash flow ratios suggested by some renowned authors. The primary objective of this paper is to find out the usefulness of the ratios relating to cash flow statement in today's business scenario. The paper discusses about the use of cash flow statement for the purpose of determining liquidity and flexibility of financial activities. It also has a significant role to play in the area of adoption of investment or credit decisions by the investors or creditors and it is equally applicable in the area of taking financial decisions by the corporate managers. In this study we used Dickinson's Model (2011) to determine the corporate life cycle stages and Gordon Model to calculate cost of equity. In this study, we first took samples using the cash flow statement data (including cash flow from operating activities, cash flow from investing activities and cash flow from finance activities) and separated the firms in the growth stage, maturity stage and decline stage, then, using multivariate regression analysis and mean comparison tests, hypotheses were studied and tested. The results of 110 firms (990 company - year) from 2006 to 2014 shows that the firms, cost of equity in different stages of the life cycle (growth, maturity, decline) are significantly different. The results also show that in the decline stage the cost of equity is at the highest level and in the maturity stage it is at the lowest level.

It is impossible to develop and improve market relations in Russia without thorough study and practical application of world best experiences in the field of accounting and accounting (financial) statements. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) has been worked at for a longtime and today they reflex the practice of foreign national accounting systems. It is high time for the Russian Federation to introduce IFRS in the national financial and management accounting system, so that Russian accounting standards get adapted to those international. It will helpcompanies to make statements that reflect actual situation in the enterprise, to take better-founded management decisions and, consequently, improve business management efficiency.
