The Festival of the Patios of Cordoba, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) by UNESCO in 2012, serves as an emblematic case of how this designation acts as a tourist brand, attracting a greater number of visitors and granting a competitive advantage to the city's tourist market. This research is focused on analyzing the differences and similarities in the satisfaction, lived experience and behavioral intention of tourists according to their sociodemographic profile during the 2022 edition of the Patios Festival. The study's main objective is to understand the sociodemographic profile of the tourist who visits this event and if there are features of this profile that influence the satisfaction and lived experience with the event. Using a quantitative methodological approach, field work was carried out during the Fiesta de los Patios of Cordoba (Spain) in its 2022 edition, which took place between 3 and 15 May 2022, obtaining 383 valid surveys. The results reveal differences in the perception and satisfaction of the experience depending on the sociodemographic profile of the visitors. These findings highlight the need to adapt the tourism offerings to improve the visitor experience and also contribute to the scarcity of studies on ICH to help tourism managers formulate strategies that maximize the cultural and economic benefits of these Word Heritage inscriptions. ARTIFICIAL neural networks ,SPORTS events ,INCOME ,MODERN society ,PRIMARY audience - Abstract
Sporting events, integral to contemporary societies, not only enrich individual lives and drive economic growth but also profoundly influence the well-being of the communities they engage. This research employs an artificial neural network to investigate variations in the socio-demographic profile of motorsports event attendees, encompassing factors such as prior attendance, gender, age, education level, and income. Through inquiries into motivations, perceptions, experiences, and emotions related to the event, the study aims to construct adaptable ‘identikits’ or estimated profiles of participants. This innovative approach, easily customized by researchers, proves instrumental in developing sustainable products and services tailored to the preferences of high-speed sports event attendees. The results highlight attendance at previous editions of this event as the most influenced variable. Profiles with higher income have a better perception that the event improves the province’s image, although the overall evaluation is lower. Consequently, the practical contributions of this research extend to providing event promoters with comprehensive profiles of their target audience, fostering sustainability and strategic planning in motorsports events. FOOD tourism ,WORLD Heritage Sites ,TOURIST attractions ,HERITAGE tourism ,CULTURAL identity - Abstract
The growing importance of gastronomy in travel decisions has made it a key factor in selecting cultural tourism destinations. This research analyzes tourists' interest in Granada's cuisine, a city with two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Fieldwork involved 1,612 validated surveys from tourists in various local gastronomy establishments. Analysis revealed three tourist segments based on their interest in gastronomy: survivors, enjoyers, and experiencers. Survivors view gastronomy as a minor part of their experience, enjoyers appreciate it as part of their cultural immersion, and experiencers seek unique culinary adventures. Key findings indicate that different tourist types have distinct characteristics and perceptions of local cuisine as a cultural identity symbol. Understanding these segments helps in tailoring tourism offerings to meet diverse preferences. This research underscores the significance of innovative culinary offerings and improved facilities to enhance tourism competitiveness. Consequently, it is crucial to develop strategies that promote gastronomic innovation and improve service quality in order to attract and satisfy a broader range of tourists. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Purpose: Gastronomy can be a key destination choice factor. As tourists, people will be able to learn more about the culture of the place through its culinary assets. This paper aims to analyse the interest and the gastronomic motivations of tourists to the city of Granada (Spain), where two important UNESCO World Heritage Sites (WHS) are included. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the aim of this study, fieldwork was carried out on a representative sample of tourists in Granada (Spain). Specifically, a total of 1,612 valid surveys were filled out in culinary establishments and historical sites. In these surveys, the opinion of tourists regarding gastronomy and their motivations when travelling was assessed. Findings: The results of this research allow to make a segmentation of tourists into three groups according to their position and their interest in gastronomy based on their destination choice, distinguishing among survivors, enjoyers and experiencers' tourists. Additionally, it is confirmed that gastronomy is shaped as a motivation that influences the level of tourist satisfaction, performing as a differentiating element that can help increase the competitiveness of the destination. Originality/value: This research contributes to the scarce academic literature on tourism experiences in a city with WHS recognitions. This study confirms the existence of a relationship between gastronomic motivations and the level of satisfaction achieved by tourists who visit the city of Granada, where no similar studies were found. In addition, this work confirms the connection between gastronomy and culture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The knowledge of the typology of visitors interested in the artistic and cultural heritage of a city is of great importance. This research conducts a gender segmentation of tourists in the city of Córdoba, Spain, based on their motivations. The methodology employed for this purpose involved conducting a fieldwork consisting of administering a structured survey to visitors in the historic center of Córdoba. These surveys were carried out between December 2022 and March 2023, resulting in a total of 560 valid surveys. The results obtained demonstrate a higher appreciation by women for various motivations, especially those of a cultural nature. These findings are consistent with previous results obtained in the existing scientific literature in this field, as it is concluded that tourists have different motivations for visiting a tourist destination. The obtained results will be highly useful for understanding the existing tourist groups and, thus, creating products tailored to their needs. Additionally, as a future line of research, it is proposed to strengthen investigations on the tourism activity from the supply side. This research aims to determine the differences and similarities in perceptions, experiences, satisfaction, and behaviour intention of travellers who engage with, and appreciate Intangible Cultural Heritage, according to the sociodemographic profile of these travellers. Literature concerning Intangible Cultural Heritage tourists’ profile is still scarce, being important for World Heritage Site destinations or places with Intangible Cultural Heritage recognition to identify the tourists attracted by culture and heritage. Thus, the work presented intend to cover the gap identified in this sense, taking as reference the results obtained from fieldwork consisting of a structured questionnaire which was administered to a representative sample of tourists who participated in the Fiesta de los Patios event in Cordoba (Spain), which is recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage asset. Mann–Whitney and Kruskal–Wallis tests are used to compare groups of the sample according to the sociodemographic profile of the tourists, revealing statistical differences among these groups. The results enable us to analyse the post-COVID tourist, and determine to what extent they are satisfied with the new worldwide situation. This research could be useful both to public agents of tourism promotion and private businesses, whose target audience are tourists attending this type of event. The research unpacks the profile of the visitor, relating their gender, age, educational level, and income to their experiences, perceptions, satisfaction, and behaviour intention.
