Abstract

The article presents research on den site selection in skunk species Conepatus chinga. The study covered 199 dens used by radio-tracked skunks in the Ernesto Tornquist Provincial Park in Ventania mountain range in Argentina. Topics discussed include comparisons of den site habitats and home range habitat, attraction of C. chinga to site with access to prey and male and female den sharing behaviors.

20. First Report on the Geoffroy's Cat in a Highly Modified Rural Area of the Argentine Pampas.

Abstract

The article reports on the first data about the Geoffroy's cat Leopardus geoffroyi from an unprotected farming area in the Pampas of central Argentina. The cat has been updated to the Near Threatened category because of the lack of knowledge and concern for the impact of human-related habitat changes upon its populations. The cat was tracked from January to July 2005 until failure of collar battery and researchers were able to record 40 locations. Five cat latrines were found in the study area and they were all associated with trees.
