Abstract: Classical novae are thermonuclear explosions in stellar binary systems, and important sources of $^{26}$Al and $^{22}$Na. While gamma rays from the decay of the former radioisotope have been observed throughout the Galaxy, $^{22}$Na remains untraceable. The half-life of $^{22}$Na (2.6 yr) would allow the observation of its 1.275 MeV gamma-ray line from a cosmic source. However, the prediction of such an observation requires good knowledge of the nuclear reactions involved in the production and destruction of this nucleus. The $^{22}$Na($p,\gamma$)$^{23}$Mg reaction remains the only source of large uncertainty about the amount of $^{22}$Na ejected. Its rate is dominated by a single resonance on the short-lived state at 7785.0(7) keV in $^{23}$Mg. In the present work, a combined analysis of particle-particle correlations and velocity-difference profiles is proposed to measure femtosecond nuclear lifetimes. The application of this novel method to the study of the $^{23}$Mg states, combining magnetic and highly-segmented tracking gamma-ray spectrometers, places strong limits on the amount of $^{22}$Na produced in novae, explains its non-observation to date in gamma rays (flux < 2.5x$10^{-4}$ ph/(cm$^2$s)), and constrains its detectability with future space-borne observatories., Comment: 18 pages, 3 figures, 1 table

Abstract: The structure of the unbound $^{15}$F nucleus is investigated using the inverse kinematics resonant scattering of a radioactive $^{14}$O beam impinging on a CH$_2$ target. The analysis of $^{1}$H($^{14}$O,p)$^{14}$O and $^{1}$H($^{14}$O,2p)$^{13}$N reactions allowed the confirmation of the previously observed narrow $1/2^{-}$ resonance, near the two-proton decay threshold, and the identification of two new narrow 5/2$^{-}$ and 3/2$^{-}$ resonances. The newly observed levels decay by 1p emission to the ground of $^{14}$O, and by sequential 2p emission to the ground state (g.s.) of $^{13}$N via the $1^-$ resonance of $^{14}$O. Gamow shell model (GSM) analysis of the experimental data suggests that the wave functions of the 5/2$^{-}$ and 3/2$^{-}$ resonances may be collectivized by the continuum coupling to nearby 2p- and 1p- decay channels. The observed excitation function $^{1}$H($^{14}$O,p)$^{14}$O and resonance spectrum in $^{15}$F are well reproduced in the unified framework of the GSM., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

Abstract: The unbound proton-rich nuclei $^{16}$F and $^{15}$F are investigated experimentally and theoretically. Several experiments using the resonant elastic scattering method were performed at GANIL with radioactive beams to determine the properties of the low lying states of these nuclei. Strong asymmetry between $^{16}$F-$^{16}$N and $^{15}$F-$^{15}$C mirror nuclei is observed. The strength of the $nucleon-nucleon$ effective interaction involving the loosely bound proton in the $s_{1/2}$ orbit is significantly modified with respect to their mirror nuclei $^{16}$N and $^{15}$C. The reduction of the effective interaction is estimated by calculating the interaction energies with a schematic zero-range force. It is found that, after correcting for the effects due to changes in the radial distribution of the single-particle wave functions, the mirror symmetry of the $n-p$ interaction is preserved between $^{16}$F and $^{16}$N, while a difference of 63\% is measured between the $p-p$ versus $n-n$ interactions in the second excited state of $^{15}$F and $^{15}$C nuclei. Abstract: The lifetimes of first excited 2$^+$, 4$^+$ and 6$^+$ states in $^{98}$Zr were measured with the Recoil-Distance Doppler Shift method in an experiment performed at GANIL. Excited states in $^{98}$Zr were populated using the fission reaction between a 6.2 MeV/u $^{238}$U beam and a $^{9}$Be target. The $\gamma$ rays were detected with the EXOGAM array in correlation with the fission fragments identified in mass and atomic number in the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Our result shows very small B(E2;2$_1^+$ $\rightarrow$ 0$_1^+$) value in $^{98}$Zr thereby confirming the very sudden onset of collectivity at $N=60$. The experimental results are compared to large-scale Monte Carlo Shell model and beyond mean field calculations. The present results indicate coexistence of two additional deformed shapes in this nucleus along with the spherical ground state.

Abstract: The half-life of $^{19}$Ne has been measured using a real-time digital multiparametric acquisition system providing an accurate time-stamp and relevant information on the detectors signals for each decay event. An exhaustive offline analysis of the data gave unique access to experimental effects potentially biasing the measurement. After establishing the influence factors impacting the measurement such as after-pulses, pile-up, gain and base line fluctuations, their effects were accurately estimated and the event selection optimized. The resulting half-life, $17.2569\pm0.0019_{(stat)}\pm0.0009_{(syst)}$~s, is the most precise up to now for $^{19}$Ne. It is found in agreement with two recent precise measurements and not consistent with the most recent one [L.J. Broussard {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf112}, 212301 (2014)] by 3.0 standard deviations. The full potential of the technique for nuclei with half-lives of a few seconds is discussed., Comment: 11 pages, 16 figures

Abstract: Intense and purified radioactive beam of post-accelerated $^{14}$O was used to study the low-lying states in the unbound $^{15}$F nucleus. Exploiting resonant elastic scattering in inverse kinematics with a thick target, the second excited state, a resonance at E$\_R$=4.757(6)(10)~MeV with a width of $\Gamma$=36(5)(14)~keV was measured for the first time with high precision. The structure of this narrow above-barrier state in a nucleus located two neutrons beyond the proton drip line was investigated using the Gamow Shell Model in the coupled channel representation with a $^{12}$C core and three valence protons. Abstract: We have measured the production rates and production cross sections for a variety of radioactive isotopes which were produced from 124Xe, 48Ca, and 238U beams at an energy of 345 MeV/nucleon using the BigRIPS separator at the RIKEN Nishina Center RI Beam Factory (RIBF). Proton-rich isotopes with atomic numbers Z = 40 to 52 and neutron-rich isotopes with Z = 5 to 16 were produced by projectile fragmentation of the 124Xe and 48Ca beam on Be targets, respectively. Neutron-rich isotopes with Z = 20 to 59 were produced by in-flight fission of the 238U beam, in which both Be and Pb were used as production targets. The measured production rates and production cross sections were compared with those of the LISE++ calculations, and overall fairly good agreement has been obtained. Furthermore, in the measurements with the 124Xe beam, we have discovered four new isotopes on the proton-drip line, 85,86Ru and 81,82Mo, and obtained the clear evidence that 103Sb is particle unbound with an upper limit of 49 ns for the half-life. The measurements of projectile-fragment momentum distributions have been also performed with the 124Xe beam, in which the low-momentum tails of the distributions have been measured for the first time at the energy of 345 MeV/nucleon.

Abstract: The unbound nucleus $^{18}$Na, the intermediate nucleus in the two-proton radioactivity of $^{19}$Mg, was studied by the measurement of the resonant elastic scattering reaction $^{17}$Ne(p,$^{17}$Ne)p performed at 4 A.MeV. Spectroscopic properties of the low-lying states were obtained in a R-matrix analysis of the excitation function. Using these new results, we show that the lifetime of the $^{19}$Mg radioactivity can be understood assuming a sequential emission of two protons via low energy tails of $^{18}$Na resonances.

Abstract: The structure of the unbound F15 nucleus is investigated using the inverse kinematics resonant scattering of a radioactive O14 beam impinging on a CH2 target. The analysis of H1(O14,p)O14 and H1(O14,2p)N13 reactions allowed the confirmation of the previously observed narrow 1/2- resonance, near the two-proton decay threshold, and the identification of two new narrow 5/2- and 3/2- resonances. The newly observed levels decay by 1p emission to the ground of O14, and by sequential 2p emission to the ground state of N13 via the 1- resonance of O14. Gamow shell model (GSM) analysis of the experimental data suggests that the wave functions of the 5/2- and 3/2- resonances may be collectivized by the continuum coupling to nearby 2p- and 1p-decay channels. Abstract: In a high-energy fragmentation experiment at GSI an I-pi = (6(+)) isomer and its gamma-decay are identified in Sn-102, the two-neutron neighbour of the doubly-magic Sn-100. Its half-life is measured to be T-1/2 = 367(11) ns. The possible existence of further isomers is discussed in the framework of large-scale shell model (LSSM) calculations including up to five particle-hole excitations of the Sn-100 core. From the precise B(E2; 6(+) -> 4(+)) strength and the recently remeasured value for B(E2; 8(+) -> 6(+)) in the two-proton hole neighbour Cd-98 effective E2 polarization charges for protons and neutrons were inferred including LSSM corrections within the full N=4 0h omega space. Abstract: 11 pags., 10 figs., 3 tabs., We report on new γ-ray spectroscopy results from β decays of In99 and Sn101. 30 new γ rays were observed following the β decay of In99, and inconsistencies in the literature with respect to the γ rays following the β decay of Sn101 were addressed with two confirmed cases and two new transitions. The experimental γ-ray energies, intensities, and coincidence relationships are discussed with shell model calculations, where theoretical β-decay branching ratios from the parent nuclei and γ-ray cascades of excited states from the daughter nuclei were combined to generate hypothetical βγ spectra and βγγ coincidence matrices. The most intense β-delayed γ-ray branches in both Cd99 and In101 were well reproduced with this approach, and several γ rays were assigned to new excited states based on their good agreement with shell model predictions., The authors would like to thank the personnel at the RIKEN Nishina Center for providing the exotic radioactive isotope beam with record intensities. Abstract: 6 pags., 4 figs., A record number of Sn100 nuclei was detected and new isotopic species toward the proton dripline were discovered at the RIKEN Nishina Center. Decay spectroscopy was performed with the high-efficiency detector arrays WAS3ABi and EURICA. Both the half-life and the β-decay end point energy of Sn100 were measured more precisely than the literature values. The value and the uncertainty of the resulting strength for the pure 0+→1+ Gamow-Teller decay was improved to BGT=4.4-0.7+0.9. A discrimination between different model calculations was possible for the first time, and the level scheme of In100 is investigated further., This work was carried out at the RIBF operated by RIKEN Nishina Center, RIKEN and CNS, University of Tokyo. Abstract: Lifetimes of low-lying states in Ga-73 and Zn-70,Zn-72,Zn-74 were measured using the Recoil Distance Doppler Shift (RDDS) method. These nuclei were produced in deep-inelastic reactions in inverse kinematics with a Pb-208 beam impinging on a Ge-76 target. Prompt gamma rays were detected using the AGATA tracking array coupled to the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Lifetime of the 5/2(-) state in Ga-73, measured for the first time, provides additional evidence for the existence of a 1/2(-), 3/2(-) ground-state doublet. The lifetimes of the 4(+) states in Zn-70,Zn-72,Zn-74 were remeasured in an attempt to understand the discrepancies observed between earlier measurements. Our results are in agreement with those of previous plunger experiments.

Abstract: We report on new gamma-ray spectroscopy results from beta decays of In-99 and Sn-101. 30 new gamma rays were observed following the beta decay of In-99, and inconsistencies in the literature with respect to the gamma rays following the beta decay of Sn-101 were addressed with two confirmed cases and two new transitions. The experimental gamma-ray energies, intensities, and coincidence relationships are discussed with shell model calculations, where theoretical beta-decay branching ratios from the parent nuclei and gamma-ray cascades of excited states from the daughter nuclei were combined to generate hypothetical beta gamma spectra and beta gamma gamma coincidence matrices. The most intense beta-delayed gamma-ray branches in both Cd-99 and In-101 were well reproduced with this approach, and several gamma rays were assigned to new excited states based on their good agreement with shell model predictions.

Abstract: Lifetimes of first 4+ and 6+ states have been measured in neutron-rich isotopes of Zr, Mo, Ru and Pd using the recoil distance Doppler shift method at GANIL. The nuclei were produced through a fusion-fission reaction in inverse kinematics. The fission fragments were fully identified in the large-acceptance VAMOS spectrometer and γ-rays were detected in coincidence with the EXOGAM germanium array. Lifetimes of excited states in the range of 1–100 ps were measured with the Cologne plunger. Preliminary lifetime results are presented as well as a discussion on the evolution of the collectivity in this region.

Abstract: International audience; A decay spectroscopy experiment on proton-rich nuclei in the vicinity of the doubly magic Sn100 was carried out at RIKEN Nishina Center. More than 20 nuclei with 43≤Z≤50 and N≤51, produced by fragmentation reactions were investigated via analyses of β-decay, βp-decay, and subsequent γ-ray data. Owing to higher statistics, the precision on the half-lives of many of the ground states and isomers was improved. β-decay endpoint energies of 11 states in 8 nuclei were measured for the first time, and the corresponding QEC and excitation energies were generally consistent with various mass models. Many β-delayed proton emission branching ratios were measured either for the first time or with higher precision compared to literature values, and some of them differed by more than 2σ. Many of the large discrepancies were associated with nuclei with long-lived isomeric states, highlighting large systematic uncertainties involved in these measurements. Twenty-five new γ rays were observed, and ten new states are proposed with unambiguous excitation energies, spins, and parities. Most of the energies of the excited states were consistent within 300 keV or 20%, whichever was greater, compared to shell model predictions in the proton/neutron (p1/2,g9/2) model space assuming a Sr76 core. A signature of a new (1/2−) isomer in Cd97 with T1/2=0.73(7) s was found, in good agreement with shell model predictions.

Abstract: The lifetimes of the first excited 2^{+}, 4^{+}, and 6^{+} states in ^{98}Zr were measured with the recoil-distance Doppler shift method in an experiment performed at GANIL. Excited states in ^{98}Zr were populated using the fission reaction between a 6.2 MeV/u ^{238}U beam and a ^{9}Be target. The γ rays were detected with the EXOGAM array in correlation with the fission fragments identified by mass and atomic number in the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Our result shows a very small B(E2;2_{1}^{+}→0_{1}^{+}) value in ^{98}Zr, thereby confirming the very sudden onset of collectivity at N=60. The experimental results are compared to large-scale Monte Carlo shell model and beyond-mean-field calculations. Abstract: WOS: 000414625700003, In the EXILL campaign a highly efficient array of high purity germanium (HPGe) detectors was operated at the cold neutron beam facility PF1B of the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) to carry out nuclear structure studies, via measurements of gamma-rays following neutron-induced capture and fission reactions. The setup consisted of a collimation system producing a pencil beam with a thermal capture equivalent flux of about 10(8) ns(-1)cm(2) at the target position and negligible neutron halo. The targetwas surrounded by an array of eight to ten anti-Compton shielded EXOGAMClover detectors, four to six anti-Compton shielded large coaxial GASP detectors and two standard Clover detectors. For a part of the campaign the array was combined with 16 LaBr3:(Ce) detectors from the FATIMA collaboration. The detectorswere arranged in an array of rhombicuboctahedron geometry, providing the possibility to carry out very precise angular correlation and directional-polarization correlation measurements. The triggerless acquisition system allowed a signal collection rate of up to 6 x 10(5) Hz. The data allowed to set multi-fold coincidences to obtain decay schemes and in combination with the FATIMA array of LaBr3:(Ce) detectors to analyze half-lives of excited levels in the pico-to microsecond range. Abstract: A gamma -decaying isomeric state (tau(1/2) = 197(-17)(+19) ns) has been identified in Cd-96, which is one alpha particle away from the last known bound N = Z nucleus, Sn-100. Comparison of the results with shell-model calculations has allowed a tentative experimental level scheme to be deduced and the isomer to be interpreted as a medium-spin negative-parity spin trap based on the coupling of isoscalar (T = 0) and isovector (T = 1) neutron-proton pairs. The data also suggest evidence for the population of a 9(+) T = 1 state, which is predicted by shell-model calculations to be yrast. Such a low-lying T = 1 state, which is unknown in lighter mass even-even self-conjugate nuclei, can also be interpreted in terms of the coupling of T = 0 and T = 1 neutron-proton pairs.

Abstract: A decay spectroscopy experiment on proton-rich nuclei in the vicinity of the doubly magic Sn-100 was carried out at RIKEN Nishina Center. More than 20 nuclei with 43 <= Z <= 50 and N <= 51, produced by fragmentation reactions were investigated via analyses of beta-decay, beta p-decay, and subsequent gamma-ray data. Owing to higher statistics, the precision on the half-lives of many of the ground states and isomers was improved. beta-decay endpoint energies of 11 states in 8 nuclei were measured for the first time, and the corresponding Q(EC) and excitation energies were generally consistent with various mass models. Many beta-delayed proton emission branching ratios were measured either for the first time or with higher precision compared to literature values, and some of them differed by more than 2 sigma. Many of the large discrepancies were associated with nuclei with long-lived isomeric states, highlighting large systematic uncertainties involved in these measurements. Twenty-five new gamma rays were observed, and ten new states are proposed with unambiguous excitation energies, spins, and parities. Most of the energies of the excited states were consistent within 300 keV or 20%, whichever was greater, compared to shell model predictions in the proton/neutron (P-1/2, g(9/2)) model space assuming a Sr-76 core. A signature of a new (1/2(-)) isomer in Cd-97 with T-1/2 = 0.73(7) s was found, in good agreement with shell model predictions.

Abstract: The lifetimes of the first excited 2þ, 4þ, and 6þ states in 98Zr were measured with the recoil-distance Doppler shift method in an experiment performed at GANIL. Excited states in 98Zr were populated using the fission reaction between a 6.2 MeV=u 238U beam and a 9 Be target. The γ rays were detected with the EXOGAM array in correlation with the fission fragments identified by mass and atomic number in the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Our result shows a very small BðE2; 2þ 1 → 0þ 1 Þ value in 98Zr, thereby confirming the very sudden onset of collectivity at N ¼ 60. The experimental results are compared to large-scale Monte Carlo shell model and beyond-mean-field calculations. The present results indicate the coexistence of two additional deformed shapes in this nucleus along with the spherical ground state.

Abstract: International audience; We report on new or more precise half-lives, β-decay endpoint energies, and β-delayed proton emission branching ratios of Pd91, Cd95, In97, and Sn99. The measured values are consistent with known mirror transitions in lighter Tz=−1/2 nuclei, shell-model calculations, and various mass models. In addition to the β-decaying (9/2+) ground state, circumstantial evidence for a short-lived, proton-emitting isomer with spin (1/2−) was found in In97. Based on the experimental data, a semiempirical theory on proton emission, and shell-model calculations, the proton separation energy of the In97 ground state was determined to be −0.10±0.19 MeV. The existence of the short-lived, proton-unstable (1/2−) isomer in In97 establishes Cd96 as an rp-process waiting point.

Abstract: The lifetimes of the first excited 2^{+}, 4^{+}, and 6^{+} states in ^{98}Zr were measured with the recoil-distance Doppler shift method in an experiment performed at GANIL. Excited states in ^{98}Zr were populated using the fission reaction between a 6.2 MeV/u ^{238}U beam and a ^{9}Be target. The γ rays were detected with the EXOGAM array in correlation with the fission fragments identified by mass and atomic number in the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Abstract: In the EXILL campaign a highly efficient array of high purity germanium (HPGe) detectors was operated at the cold neutron beam facility PF1B of the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) to carry out nuclear structure studies, via measurements of γ-rays following neutron-induced capture and fission reactions. The setup consisted of a collimation system producing a pencil beam with a thermal capture equivalent flux of about 108 n s−1cm−2 at the target position and negligible neutron halo. The target was surrounded by an array of eight to ten anti-Compton shielded EXOGAM Clover detectors, four to six anti-Compton shielded large coaxial GASP detectors and two standard Clover detectors. For a part of the campaign the array was combined with 16 LaBr3:(Ce) detectors from the FATIMA collaboration. The detectors were arranged in an array of rhombicuboctahedron geometry, providing the possibility to carry out very precise angular correlation and directional-polarization correlation measurements. The triggerless acquisition system allowed a signal collection rate of up to 6 × 105 Hz. The data allowed to set multi-fold coincidences to obtain decay schemes and in combination with the FATIMA array of LaBr3:(Ce) detectors to analyze half-lives of excited levels in the pico- to microsecond range. Precise energy and efficiency calibrations of EXILL were performed using standard calibration sources of 133Ba, 60Co and 152Eu as well as data from the reactions 27Al(n,γ)28Al and 35Cl(n,γ)36Cl in the energy range from 30 keV up to 10 MeV.

Abstract: The unbound proton-rich nuclei 16 F and 15 F are investigated experimentally and theoretically. Several experiments using the resonant elastic scattering method were performed at GANIL with radioactive beams to determine the properties of the low lying states of these nuclei. Strong asymmetry between 16 F– 16 N and 15 F– 15 C mirror nuclei is observed. The strength of the n u c l e o n - n u c l e o n effective interaction involving the loosely bound proton in the s 1 / 2 orbit is significantly modified with respect to their mirror nuclei 16 N and 15 C. The reduction of the effective interaction is estimated by calculating the interaction energies with a schematic zero-range force. It is found that, after correcting for the effects due to changes in the radial distribution of the single-particle wave functions, the mirror symmetry of the n - p interaction is preserved between 16 F and 16 N, while a difference of 63% is measured between the p - p versus n - n interactions in the second excited state of 15 F and 15 C nuclei. Abstract: Lifetimes of low-lying states in 73Ga and 70,72,74 Zn were measured using the Recoil Distance Doppler Shift (RDDS) method. These nuclei were produced in deep-inelastic reactions in inverse kinematics with a 208Pb beam impinging on a 76Ge target. Prompt rays were detected using the AGATA tracking array coupled to the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Lifetime of the 5/2- state in 73Ga, measured for the first time, provides additional evidence for the existence of a 1/2-, 3/2- ground-state doublet. The lifetimes of the 4+ states in 70,72,74 Zn were remeasured in an attempt to understand the discrepancies observed between earlier measurements. The nuclei were produced through a fusion-fission reaction in inverse kinematics. The fission fragments were fully identified in the large-acceptance VAMOS spectrometer and gamma -rays were detected in coincidence with the EXOGAM germanium array. Lifetimes of excited states in the range of 1-100 ps were measured with the Cologne plunger. Several lifetimes were obtained for states in the positiveparity yrast bands in the four nuclei and compared to triaxial particle-rotor calculations. The results clarify the configuration for the strongest positive-parity band in Tc-107 and suggest a gradual increase of triaxial deformation with atomic number Z, reaching almost maximum triaxiality for the neutron-rich Rh nuclei.

Abstract: The lifetimes of the first excited 2(+), 4(+), and 6(+) states in Zr-98 were measured with the recoil-distance Doppler shift method in an experiment performed at GANIL. Excited states in Zr-98 were populated using the fission reaction between a 6.2 MeV/u U-238 beam and a Be-9 target. The gamma rays were detected with the EXOGAM array in correlation with the fission fragments identified by mass and atomic number in the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Our result shows a very small B(E2; 2(1)(+) -> 0(1)(+)) value in Zr-98, thereby confirming the very sudden onset of collectivity at N = 60. The experimenta(l) results are compared to large-scale Monte Carlo shell model and beyond-mean-field calculations. The present results indicate the coexistence of two additional deformed shapes in this nucleus along with the spherical ground State.

Abstract: We report on new or more precise half-lives, beta-decay endpoint energies, and beta-delayed proton emission branching ratios of(91) Pd, Cd-95,In-97, and Sn-99. The measured values are consistent with known mirror transitions in lighter T-z = -1/2 nuclei, shell-model calculations, and various mass models. In addition to the beta -decaying (9/2(+)) ground state, circumstantial evidence for a short-lived, proton-emitting isomer with spin (1 /2(-)) was found in(97)In. Based on the experimental data, a semiempirical theory on proton emission, and shell-model calculations, the proton separation energy of the In-97 ground state was determined to be -0.10 +/- 0.19 MeV. The existence of the short-lived, proton-unstable (1 /2(-)) isomer in In-97 establishes Cd-9S as an rp-process waiting point.

Abstract: International audience; Half-lives and energies of γ rays emitted in the decay of isomeric states of nuclei in the vicinity of the doubly magic Sn100 were measured in a decay spectroscopy experiment at Rikagaku Kenkyusho (The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) of Japan Nishina Center. The measured half-lives, some with improved precision, are consistent with literature values. Three new results include a 55-keV E2γ ray from a new (4+) isomer with T1/2=0.23(6)μs in Rh92, a 44-keV E2γ ray from the (15+) isomer in Ag96, and T1/2(6+)=13(2) ns in Cd98. Shell-model calculations of electromagnetic transition strengths in the (p1/2,g9/2) model space agree with the experimental results. In addition, experimental isomeric ratios were compared to the theoretical predictions derived with an abrasion-ablation model and the sharp cutoff model. The results agreed within a factor of 2 for most isomers. From the nonobservation of time-delayed γ rays in Sn100, new constraints on the T1/2, γ-ray energy, and internal conversion coefficients are proposed for the hypothetical isomer in Sn100.

Abstract: In the EXILL campaign a highly efficient array of HPGe detectors was operated at the cold neutron beam instrument PF1B of the Institut Laue-Langevin to carry out nuclear structure studies, via measurements of -rays following neutron-induced capture and fission reactions. The setup consisted of a collimation system producing a pencil beam with a thermal capture equivalent flux of about 108 s-1 cm-2 at the target position and negligible neutron halo. The target was surrounded by an array of eight to ten anti-Compton shielded EXOGAM clover detectors, four to six anti-Compton shielded large coaxial GASP detectors and two smaller clover detectors. The detectors were arranged in an array of rhombicuboctahedron geometry, providing the possibility to carry out very precise angular correlation and directional-polarization correlation measurements. The trigger-less acquisition system allowed an event collection rate of up to 6 × 105 Hz. From triggerless collected data it was possible to construct decay schemes and in combination with the FATIMA array of LaBr3 detectors to analyze half-lives of excited levels in the pico- to micro-second range. Precise energy and efficiency calibrations of EXILL were performed using 27Al(n,γ)28Al and 35Cl(n,γ)36Cl reactions in the energy range from 30 keV up to 10 MeV.
