The study participants were categorized based on changes in the angle of the posterior slope before and after surgery: Group 1, > 5°; Group 2, 3°– 5°; Group 3, 0°– 3°; Group 4, − 3°– 0°; Group 5, < − 3°. All participants were affected with knee osteoarthritis. The Knee Society Clinical Rating System (KSS) knee function score, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) knee function score, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain score, and postoperative complications were measured 3 years after surgery.Results: The level of pain experienced by the patients decreased significantly than before, with pain scores ranging from 1.0– 3.0, and there was a statistical difference between groups (H = 93.400, P

2. Field Experiences in Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE): Preparing Teachers for Success in Diverse Early Education Settings

Abstract: Field experiences provide opportunities for early childhood and early childhood special education (EC/ECSE) educators to implement effective practices in learning settings, and are, therefore, a vital part of EC/ECSE teacher preparation. In this article, we describe field placement models from four universities in the United States: The Bridge Project, Getting Started Early, Peer Coaching to Increase Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions, and University Supervisors Coaching Teacher Candidates: Supporting Young Bi/Multilingual Children with Disabilities. Although there is variety in the settings and effective practices supported through these field placements, performance feedback and collaboration are clear themes across models.

3. The Integration of 5E Inquiry-Based Learning and Group Investigation Model: Its Effects on Level Four Science Process Skills of Form Four Students

Abstract: Studies found that the mastery of Level-4 Science Process Skills (L4SPS) among secondary school students is still relatively weak. Thus, the purpose of this research was to determine the effects of 5E Inquiry-based Learning and Group Investigation (I5E-GI) model on the five constructs of L4SPS, namely Identifying Manipulated, Responding, and Constant Variables, Forming Hypotheses, Making Observations, Making Inferences, and Defining Operationally. A teaching and learning (TL) module was developed to guide teachers in implementing the I5E-GI method for the five L4SPS constructs. The L4SPS Test Instrument was constructed to measure the level of L4SPS mastery at the end of intervention. The quasi-experimental research design was conducted on 180 Form Four students taking Core Science subjects. A total of three groups were assigned, namely i) 5E Inquiry-based Learning and Group Investigation method (I5E-GI, n = 60), ii) 5E Inquiry-based Learning method (5E, n= 60), and iii) Traditional Learning (TR, n = 60) in an urban secondary school in Sarawak, Malaysia. Data were analyzed using the inferential statistical tests of MANOVA, MANCOVA, ANCOVA, and effect size. The results showed that there was a statistically significant effect across the three groups of TL methods. There is a statistically significant effect of the I5E-GI method compared to the 5E and TR methods on the five L4SPS constructs. As for the effect size, the I5E-GI method provides a more significant effect size than the 5E and TR learning methods. Overall, the findings prove that the I5E-GI method has positive implications for the mastery of L4SPS among Form Four students.

Abstract: We present a study of the semileptonic decay $D^0\rightarrow \pi^-\pi^0e^{+}\nu_{e}$ using an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample of $7.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The branching fraction of $D^0\to \rho(770)^-e^+\nu_e$ is measured to be $(1.439 \pm 0.033(\rm stat.) \pm 0.027(\rm syst.)) \times10^{-3}$, which is a factor 1.6 more precise than previous measurements. By performing an amplitude analysis, we measure the hadronic form-factor ratios of $D^0\to \rho(770)^-e^+\nu_e$ at $q^2=0$ assuming the single-pole-dominance parametrization: $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.548\pm0.079(\rm stat.)\pm0.041(\rm syst.)$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.823\pm0.056(\rm stat.)\pm0.026(\rm syst.)$., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures

5. Quasi-Distribution Appraisal Based on Piecewise B\'ezier Curves: An Objective Evaluation Method about Finite Element Analysis

Abstract: A class of quasi-distribution evaluation criteria based on piecewise Bezier curves is proposed to address the issue of the inability to objectively evaluate finite element models. During the optimization design of mechanical parts, finite element modeling is performed on their stress deformation, and the mesh node shape variable values are converted into distribution histogram data for piecewise Bezier curve fitting. Being dealt with area normalization method, the fitting curve could be regarded as a kind of probability density function (PDF), and its variance could be used to evaluate the finite element modeling results. The situation with the minimum variance is the optimal choice for overall deformation. Numerical experiments have indicated that the new method demonstrated the intrinsic characteristics of the finite element models of difference mechanical parts. As an objective appraisal method for evaluating finite element models, it is both effective and feasible.

Abstract: In the effective field theory, the massless dark photon $\gamma'$ can only couple with the Standard Model particle through operators of dimension higher than four, thereby offering a high sensitivity to the new physics energy scale. Using $7.9~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the effective flavor-changing neutral current coupling of $cu\gamma'$ in $D^0\to\omega\gamma'$ and $D^0\to\gamma\gamma'$ processes to search for the massless dark photon. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the massless dark photon branching fraction are set to be $1.1\times10^{-5}$ and $2.0\times10^{-6}$ for $D^0\to\omega\gamma'$ and $D^0\to\gamma\gamma'$, respectively. These results provide the most stringent constraint on the new physics energy scale associated with $cu\gamma'$ coupling in the world, with the new physics energy scale related parameter $|\mathbb{C}|^2+|\mathbb{C}_5|^2<8.2\times10^{-17}~\rm{GeV}^{-2}$ at the 90% confidence level, playing a unique role in the dark sector search with the charm sector., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures

7. TLD: A Vehicle Tail Light signal Dataset and Benchmark

Abstract: Understanding other drivers' intentions is crucial for safe driving. The role of taillights in conveying these intentions is underemphasized in current autonomous driving systems. Accurately identifying taillight signals is essential for predicting vehicle behavior and preventing collisions. Open-source taillight datasets are scarce, often small and inconsistently annotated. To address this gap, we introduce a new large-scale taillight dataset called TLD. Sourced globally, our dataset covers diverse traffic scenarios. To our knowledge, TLD is the first dataset to separately annotate brake lights and turn signals in real driving scenarios. We collected 17.78 hours of driving videos from the internet. This dataset consists of 152k labeled image frames sampled at a rate of 2 Hz, along with 1.5 million unlabeled frames interspersed throughout. Additionally, we have developed a two-stage vehicle light detection model consisting of two primary modules: a vehicle detector and a taillight classifier. Initially, YOLOv10 and DeepSORT captured consecutive vehicle images over time. Subsequently, the two classifiers work simultaneously to determine the states of the brake lights and turn signals. A post-processing procedure is then used to eliminate noise caused by misidentifications and provide the taillight states of the vehicle within a given time frame. 8. Debate on Graph: a Flexible and Reliable Reasoning Framework for Large Language Models

Abstract: Large Language Models (LLMs) may suffer from hallucinations in real-world applications due to the lack of relevant knowledge. In contrast, knowledge graphs encompass extensive, multi-relational structures that store a vast array of symbolic facts. Consequently, integrating LLMs with knowledge graphs has been extensively explored, with Knowledge Graph Question Answering (KGQA) serving as a critical touchstone for the integration. This task requires LLMs to answer natural language questions by retrieving relevant triples from knowledge graphs. However, existing methods face two significant challenges: \textit{excessively long reasoning paths distracting from the answer generation}, and \textit{false-positive relations hindering the path refinement}. In this paper, we propose an iterative interactive KGQA framework that leverages the interactive learning capabilities of LLMs to perform reasoning and Debating over Graphs (DoG). Specifically, DoG employs a subgraph-focusing mechanism, allowing LLMs to perform answer trying after each reasoning step, thereby mitigating the impact of lengthy reasoning paths. On the other hand, DoG utilizes a multi-role debate team to gradually simplify complex questions, reducing the influence of false-positive relations. This debate mechanism ensures the reliability of the reasoning process. Experimental results on five public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our architecture. Notably, DoG outperforms the state-of-the-art method ToG by 23.7\% and 9.1\% in accuracy on WebQuestions and GrailQA, respectively. 9. FuzzCoder: Byte-level Fuzzing Test via Large Language Model

Abstract: Fuzzing is an important dynamic program analysis technique designed for finding vulnerabilities in complex software. Fuzzing involves presenting a target program with crafted malicious input to cause crashes, buffer overflows, memory errors, and exceptions. Crafting malicious inputs in an efficient manner is a difficult open problem and the best approaches often apply uniform random mutations to pre-existing valid inputs. In this work, we propose to adopt fine-tuned large language models (FuzzCoder) to learn patterns in the input files from successful attacks to guide future fuzzing explorations. Specifically, we develop a framework to leverage the code LLMs to guide the mutation process of inputs in fuzzing. The mutation process is formulated as the sequence-to-sequence modeling, where LLM receives a sequence of bytes and then outputs the mutated byte sequence. FuzzCoder is fine-tuned on the created instruction dataset (Fuzz-Instruct), where the successful fuzzing history is collected from the heuristic fuzzing tool. FuzzCoder can predict mutation locations and strategies locations in input files to trigger abnormal behaviors of the program. 10. Serverless Query Processing with Flexible Performance SLAs and Prices

Abstract: Serverless query processing has become increasingly popular due to its auto-scaling, high elasticity, and pay-as-you-go pricing. It allows cloud data warehouse (or lakehouse) users to focus on data analysis without the burden of managing systems and resources. Accordingly, in serverless query services, users become more concerned about cost-efficiency under acceptable performance than performance under fixed resources. This poses new challenges for serverless query engine design in providing flexible performance service-level agreements (SLAs) and cost-efficiency (i.e., prices). In this paper, we first define the problem of flexible performance SLAs and prices in serverless query processing and discuss its significance. Then, we envision the challenges and solutions for solving this problem and the opportunities it raises for other database research. Finally, we present PixelsDB, an open-source prototype with three service levels supported by dedicated architectural designs. 11. GroomCap: High-Fidelity Prior-Free Hair Capture

Abstract: Despite recent advances in multi-view hair reconstruction, achieving strand-level precision remains a significant challenge due to inherent limitations in existing capture pipelines. We introduce GroomCap, a novel multi-view hair capture method that reconstructs faithful and high-fidelity hair geometry without relying on external data priors. To address the limitations of conventional reconstruction algorithms, we propose a neural implicit representation for hair volume that encodes high-resolution 3D orientation and occupancy from input views. This implicit hair volume is trained with a new volumetric 3D orientation rendering algorithm, coupled with 2D orientation distribution supervision, to effectively prevent the loss of structural information caused by undesired orientation blending. We further propose a Gaussian-based hair optimization strategy to refine the traced hair strands with a novel chained Gaussian representation, utilizing direct photometric supervision from images. Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30 $\rm fb^{-1}$, we measure Born cross sections and effective form factors for the process $e^+e^-\to\Xi^0\bar{\Xi}^0$ at forty-five center-of-mass energies between 3.51 and 4.95 GeV. The dressed cross section is fitted, assuming a power-law function plus a charmonium(-like) state, i.e., $\psi(3770)$, $\psi(4040)$, $\psi(4160)$, $\psi(4230)$, $\psi(4360)$, $\psi(4415)$ or $\psi(4660)$. No significant charmonium(-like) state decaying into $\Xi^0\bar\Xi^0$ is observed. Upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product of the branching fraction and the electronic partial width are provided for each decay. In addition, ratios of the Born cross sections and the effective form factors for $e^+e^-\to\Xi^0\bar{\Xi}^0$ and $e^+e^-\to\Xi^-\bar{\Xi}^+$ are also presented to test isospin symmetry and the vector meson dominance model., Comment: 22 pages, 2 tables, 4 figures

Abstract: Using $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^6~\psi$(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hadronic transition $h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ via $\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c$. No significant signal is observed. We set the most stringent upper limits to date on the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c)\times\mathcal{B}(h_c\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level, which are determined to be $6.7\times 10^{-7}$ and $9.4 \times10^{-4}$, respectively.

Abstract: Measurements of the strong-phase difference between $D^0$ and $\bar{D}^0\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ are performed in bins of phase space. The study exploits a sample of quantum-correlated $D\bar{D}$ mesons collected by the BESIII experiment in $e^+e^-$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93~fb$^{-1}$. Here, $D$ denotes a neutral charm meson in a superposition of flavor eigenstates. The reported results are valuable for measurements of the $C\!P$-violating phase $\gamma$ (also denoted $\phi_3$) in $B^\pm \to DK^\pm$, $D \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on $\gamma$ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of $B$-meson decays, is around $1.5^\circ$ or $2^\circ$, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of $F_+^{4\pi} = 0.746 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$ for the $C\!P$-even fraction of $D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity.

15. Phase-field-based lattice Boltzmann method for the transport of insoluble surfactant in two-phase flows

Abstract: In this work, we present a general second-order phase-field model for the transport of insoluble surfactant in incompressible two-phase flows. In this model, the second-order local Allen-Cahn equation is applied for interface capturing, a general form of the simple scalar transport equation [S. S. Jain, J. Comput. Phys. 515, 113277 (2024)] is adopted for interface-confined surfactant, and the consistent and conservative Navier-Stokes equations with the Marangoni force is used for fluid flows. To solve this model, we further developed a mesoscopic lattice Boltzmann (LB) method, in which the LB model for surfactant transport equation is proposed under the general LB framework for the convection-diffusion type equation, and it can correctly recover the governing equation for surfactant transport. The accuracy of the present LB method is tested by several benchmark problems, and the numerical results show it has a good performance for the transport of the insoluble surfactant in two-phase flows.

16. Towards Fully Autonomous Research Powered by LLMs: Case Study on Simulations

Abstract: The advent of Large Language Models (LLMs) has created new opportunities for the automation of scientific research, spanning both experimental processes and computational simulations. This study explores the feasibility of constructing an autonomous simulation agent (ASA) powered by LLM, through sophisticated API integration, to automate the entire research process, from experimental design, remote upload and simulation execution, data analysis, to report compilation. Using a simulation problem of polymer chain conformations as a case study, we assessed the performance of ASAs powered by different LLMs including GPT-4-Turbo. Our findings revealed that ASA-GPT-4o achieved near-flawless execution on designated research missions, underscoring the potential of LLMs to manage complete scientific investigations autonomously. The outlined automation can be iteratively performed up to twenty cycles without human intervention, illustrating the potential of LLMs for large-scale autonomous research endeavors. 18. CSS-Segment: 2nd Place Report of LSVOS Challenge VOS Track

Abstract: Video object segmentation is a challenging task that serves as the cornerstone of numerous downstream applications, including video editing and autonomous driving. In this technical report, we briefly introduce the solution of our team "yuanjie" for video object segmentation in the 6-th LSVOS Challenge VOS Track at ECCV 2024. We believe that our proposed CSS-Segment will perform better in videos of complex object motion and long-term presentation. In this report, we successfully validated the effectiveness of the CSS-Segment in video object segmentation. Finally, our method achieved a J\&F score of 80.84 in and test phases, and ultimately ranked 2nd in the 6-th LSVOS Challenge VOS Track at ECCV 2024.

19. Riemann-based Multi-scale Attention Reasoning Network for Text-3D Retrieval

Abstract: Due to the challenges in acquiring paired Text-3D data and the inherent irregularity of 3D data structures, combined representation learning of 3D point clouds and text remains unexplored. In this paper, we propose a novel Riemann-based Multi-scale Attention Reasoning Network (RMARN) for text-3D retrieval. Specifically, the extracted text and point cloud features are refined by their respective Adaptive Feature Refiner (AFR). Furthermore, we introduce the innovative Riemann Local Similarity (RLS) module and the Global Pooling Similarity (GPS) module. However, as 3D point cloud data and text data often possess complex geometric structures in high-dimensional space, the proposed RLS employs a novel Riemann Attention Mechanism to reflect the intrinsic geometric relationships of the data. Without explicitly defining the manifold, RMARN learns the manifold parameters to better represent the distances between text-point cloud samples. To address the challenges of lacking paired text-3D data, we have created the large-scale Text-3D Retrieval dataset T3DR-HIT, which comprises over 3,380 pairs of text and point cloud data. T3DR-HIT contains coarse-grained indoor 3D scenes and fine-grained Chinese artifact scenes, consisting of 1,380 and over 2,000 text-3D pairs, respectively. 20. A JWST MIRI MRS View of the $\eta$ Tel Debris Disk and its Brown Dwarf Companion

Abstract: We report JWST MIRI MRS observations of the $\beta$ Pictoris moving group member, $\eta$ Telescopii ($\eta$ Tel) A and its brown dwarf binary companion, $\eta$ Tel B. Following PSF subtraction, we recover the spatially resolved flux from the debris disk around $\eta$ Tel A, along with the position of the companion exterior to the disk. We present a new 5-26 $\mu$m epoch of spectroscopy for the disk, in which we discover a 20 $\mu$m silicate feature. We also present the first ever 11-21 $\mu$m spectrum of $\eta$ Tel B, which indicates a bare photosphere. We derive a new epoch of relative astrometry for the companion, extending the baseline of measurements to 25 years, and find that its current location is consistent with the apocentre of an eccentric, long-period orbit. The companion's orbit is close enough to the disk that it should significantly perturb the planetesimals within it, resulting in a detectable mid-IR pericentre glow and near-alignment with the companion. Contrary to expectations, however, we find that the disk appears to be axisymmetric and potentially misaligned with the companion in the MIRI MRS data. We posit that this may be due to the presence of an additional, yet-undetected 0.7-30 $M_J$ planet orbiting interior to the disk with a semi-major axis of 3-19 au., Comment: 27 pages, 19 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ

21. Substrate-induced spin-torque-like signal in spin-torque ferromagnetic resonance measurement

Abstract: Oxide thin films and interfaces with strong spin-orbit coupling have recently shown exceptionally high charge-to-spin conversion, making them potential spin-source materials for spintronics. Epitaxial strain engineering using oxide substrates with different lattice constants and symmetries has emerged as a mean to further enhance charge-to-spin conversion. However, high relative permittivity and dielectric loss of commonly used oxide substrates, such as SrTiO3, can cause significant current shunting in substrates at high frequency, which may strongly affect spin-torque measurement and potentially result in an inaccurate estimation of charge-to-spin conversion efficiency. In this study, we systematically evaluate the influence of various oxide substrates for the widely-used spin-torque ferromagnetic resonance (ST-FMR) measurement. Surprisingly, we observed substantial spin-torque signals in samples comprising only ferromagnetic metal on oxide substrates with high relative permittivity (e.g., SrTiO3 and KTaO3), where negligible signal should be initially expected. Notably, this unexpected signal shows a strong correlation with the capacitive reactance of oxide substrates and the leakage radio frequency (RF) current within the substrate. By revising the conventional ST-FMR analysis model, we attribute this phenomenon to a 90-degree phase difference between the RF current flowing in the metal layer and in the substrate. We suggest that extra attention should be paid during the ST-FMR measurements, as this artifact could dominate over the real spin-orbit torque signal from high-resistivity spin-source materials grown on substrate with high relative permittivity., Comment: 36 pages, 22 figures

Abstract: Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have markedly enhanced the interpretation and processing of tabular data, introducing previously unimaginable capabilities. Despite these achievements, LLMs still encounter significant challenges when applied in industrial scenarios, particularly due to the increased complexity of reasoning required with real-world tabular data, underscoring a notable disparity between academic benchmarks and practical applications. To address this discrepancy, we conduct a detailed investigation into the application of tabular data in industrial scenarios and propose a comprehensive and complex benchmark TableBench, including 18 fields within four major categories of table question answering (TableQA) capabilities. Furthermore, we introduce TableLLM, trained on our meticulously constructed training set TableInstruct, achieving comparable performance with GPT-3.5. 23. Imaginary Hamiltonian variational ansatz for combinatorial optimization problems

Abstract: Obtaining exact solutions to combinatorial optimization problems using classical computing is computationally expensive. The current tenet in the field is that quantum computers can address these problems more efficiently. While promising algorithms require fault-tolerant quantum hardware, variational algorithms have emerged as viable candidates for near-term devices. The success of these algorithms hinges on multiple factors, with the design of the ansatz having the utmost importance. It is known that popular approaches such as quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA) and quantum annealing suffer from adiabatic bottlenecks, that lead to either larger circuit depth or evolution time. On the other hand, the evolution time of imaginary time evolution is bounded by the inverse energy gap of the Hamiltonian, which is constant for most non-critical physical systems. In this work, we propose imaginary Hamiltonian variational ansatz ($i$HVA) inspired by quantum imaginary time evolution to solve the MaxCut problem. We introduce a tree arrangement of the parametrized quantum gates, enabling the exact solution of arbitrary tree graphs using the one-round $i$HVA. For randomly generated $D$-regular graphs, we numerically demonstrate that the $i$HVA solves the MaxCut problem with a small constant number of rounds and sublinear depth, outperforming QAOA, which requires rounds increasing with the graph size. Furthermore, our ansatz solves MaxCut exactly for graphs with up to 24 nodes and $D \leq 5$, whereas only approximate solutions can be derived by the classical near-optimal Goemans-Williamson algorithm. Abstract: Using $(10087\pm44)\times10^6J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the rare decay $J/\psi \to \gamma D^0+c.c.$ for the first time. No obvious signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be ${\cal B}(J/\psi \to \gamma D^{0}+c.c.)< 9.1 \times 10^{-8}$ at 90\% confidence level.

25. Inversion-DeepONet: A Novel DeepONet-Based Network with Encoder-Decoder for Full Waveform Inversion

Abstract: Full waveform inversion (FWI) plays a crucial role in the field of geophysics. There has been lots of research about applying deep learning (DL) methods to FWI. The success of DL-FWI relies significantly on the quantity and diversity of the datasets. Nevertheless, existing FWI datasets, like OpenFWI, where sources have fixed locations or identical frequencies, provide limited information and do not represent the complex real-world scene. For instance, low frequencies help in resolving larger-scale structures. High frequencies allow for a more detailed subsurface features. %A single source frequency is insufficient to describe subsurface structural properties. We consider that simultaneously using sources with different frequencies, instead of performing inversion using low frequencies data and then gradually introducing higher frequencies data, has rationale and potential advantages. Hence, we develop three enhanced datasets based on OpenFWI where each source have varying locations, frequencies or both. Moreover, we propose a novel deep operator network (DeepONet) architecture Inversion-DeepONet for FWI. We utilize convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract the features from seismic data in branch net. Source parameters, such as locations and frequencies, are fed to trunk net. Then another CNN is employed as the decoder of DeepONet to reconstruct the velocity models more effectively. Through experiments, we confirm the superior performance on accuracy and generalization ability of our network, compared with existing data-driven FWI methods.

Abstract: The branching fraction of $D^+\to K_{S}^{0} \pi^{0}e^+\nu_e$ is measured for the first time using $7.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$~GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, and is determined to be ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to K_S^0\pi^0e^+\nu_e$) = $(0.881~\pm~0.017_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.016_{\rm syst.})$\%. Based on an analysis of the $D^+\to K_S^0\pi^0e^+\nu_e$ decay dynamics, we observe the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ and $P$-wave components with fractions of $f_{S\text{-}{\rm wave}}$ = $(6.13~\pm~0.27_{\rm stat.}~\pm ~0.30_{\rm syst.})\%$ and $f_{\bar K^{*}(892)^0}$ = $(93.88~\pm~0.27_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.29_{\rm syst.})$\%, respectively. From these results, we obtain the branching fractions ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to (K_S^0\pi^0)_{S\text{-}{\rm wave}}~e^+\nu_e$) = $(5.41~\pm~0.35_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.37_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to \bar K^{*}(892)^0e^+\nu_e$) = $(4.97~\pm~0.11_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.12_{\rm syst.})$\%. In addition, the hadronic form-factor ratios of $D^{+} \to \bar {K}^{*}(892)^0e^+\nu_e$ at $q^2=0$, assuming a single-pole dominance parameterization, are determined to be $r_V=\frac{V(0)}{A_1(0)}= 1.43~\pm~0.07_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.03_{\rm syst.}$ and $r_2=\frac{A_2(0)}{A_1(0)}=0.72~\pm~0.06_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.02_{\rm syst.}$.

Abstract: Based on $(2712.4\pm14.1)\times10^{6}~\psi(2S)$ events, 7.9 fb$^{-1}$ $\psi(3773)$ data, and 0.8 fb$^{-1}$ off-resonance data samples collected with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of $\psi(2S)\rightarrow\gamma\pi^{0}$ and $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow\gamma\pi^{0}$ form factor at momentum transfers $Q^{2}\sim13$ GeV$^{2}$. The $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow\gamma\pi^{0}$ cross section is fitted with considering the interference between the $\psi(2S)$ and continuum amplitudes and two solutions are found, ${\cal B}=3.74\times10^{-7}$ with $\phi=3.93$ rad and ${\cal B}=7.87\times10^{-7}$ with $\phi=2.08$ rad. Here, ${\cal B}$ is the branching fraction of $\psi(2S)\rightarrow\gamma\pi^{0}$ and $\phi$ is the relative phase angle between the $\psi(2S)$ and continuum amplitudes. Due to insufficient off-resonance data, the branching fraction ${\cal B}(\psi(2S)\rightarrow\gamma\pi^{0})$ is determined to be in the range $[2.7, 9.7]\times10^{-7}$ within one standard deviation of the contour region.

28. Benchmarking Variational Quantum Algorithms for Combinatorial Optimization in Practice

Abstract: Variational quantum algorithms and, in particular, variants of the varational quantum eigensolver have been proposed to address combinatorial optimization (CO) problems. Using only shallow ansatz circuits, these approaches are deemed suitable for current noisy intermediate-scale quantum hardware. However, the resources required for training shallow variational quantum circuits often scale superpolynomially in problem size. In this study we numerically investigate what this scaling result means in practice for solving CO problems using Max-Cut as a benchmark. For fixed resources, we compare the average performance of training a shallow variational quantum circuit, sampling with replacement, and a greedy algorithm starting from the same initial point as the quantum algorithm. We identify a minimum problem size for which the quantum algorithm can consistently outperform sampling and, for each problem size, characterize the separation between the quantum algorithm and the greedy algorithm. Furthermore, we extend the average case analysis by investigating the correlation between the performance of the algorithms by instance. Our results provide a step towards meaningful benchmarks of variational quantum algorithms for CO problems for a realistic set of resources.

29. LF-3PM: a LiDAR-based Framework for Perception-aware Planning with Perturbation-induced Metric

Abstract: Just as humans can become disoriented in featureless deserts or thick fogs, not all environments are conducive to the Localization Accuracy and Stability (LAS) of autonomous robots. This paper introduces an efficient framework designed to enhance LiDAR-based LAS through strategic trajectory generation, known as Perception-aware Planning. Unlike vision-based frameworks, the LiDAR-based requires different considerations due to unique sensor attributes. Our approach focuses on two main aspects: firstly, assessing the impact of LiDAR observations on LAS. We introduce a perturbation-induced metric to provide a comprehensive and reliable evaluation of LiDAR observations. Secondly, we aim to improve motion planning efficiency. By creating a Static Observation Loss Map (SOLM) as an intermediary, we logically separate the time-intensive evaluation and motion planning phases, significantly boosting the planning process. In the experimental section, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed metrics across various scenes and the feature of trajectories guided by different metrics. Ultimately, our framework is tested in a real-world scenario, enabling the robot to actively choose topologies and orientations preferable for localization. Abstract: Based on a sample of $(2712.4\pm14.3)\times10^6\;\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of the decay $\psi(3686)\to\Lambda\bar\Sigma^0\pi^0+c.c.$ is performed to investigate $\Lambda^*$ and $\Sigma^*$ resonances in the $\pi^0\bar{\Sigma}^0$ and $\pi^0\Lambda$ invariant mass distributions. Significant contributions are found from the $\Lambda(1405)$, $\Lambda(1520)$, $\Lambda(1600)$, $\Lambda(1670)$, $\Lambda(1690)$, $\Lambda(1800)$, $\Lambda(1890)$, $\Lambda(2325)$, $\Sigma(1385)$, $\Sigma(1660)$, $\Sigma(1670)$, $\Sigma(1750)$, and $\Sigma(1910)$. The masses, widths, and production branching fractions for each component are determined. In addition, the branching fraction of $\psi(3686)\to\Lambda\bar\Sigma^0\pi^0+c.c.$ is measured to be $(1.544\pm0.013\pm0.069)\times10^{-4}$ for the first time, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic., Comment: 25 pages, 8 tables, 6 figures

31. Constraint Energy Minimizing Generalized Multiscale Finite Element Method for Convection Diffusion Equations with Inhomogeneous Boundary Conditions

Abstract: In this paper, we develop the constraint energy minimizing generalized multiscale finite element method (CEM-GMsFEM) for convection-diffusion equations with inhomogeneous Dirichlet, Neumann and Robin boundary conditions, along with high-contrast coefficients. For time independent problems, boundary correctors $\mathcal{D}^m$ and $\mathcal{N}^{m}$ for Dirichlet, Neumann, and Robin conditions are designed. For time dependent problems, a scheme to update the boundary correctors is formulated. Error analysis in both cases is given to show the first-order convergence in energy norm with respect to the coarse mesh size $H$ and second-order convergence in $L^2-$norm, as verified by numerical examples, with which different finite difference schemes are compared for temporal discretization. 32. Chat2Layout: Interactive 3D Furniture Layout with a Multimodal LLM

Abstract: Automatic furniture layout is long desired for convenient interior design. Leveraging the remarkable visual reasoning capabilities of multimodal large language models (MLLMs), recent methods address layout generation in a static manner, lacking the feedback-driven refinement essential for interactive user engagement. We introduce Chat2Layout, a novel interactive furniture layout generation system that extends the functionality of MLLMs into the realm of interactive layout design. To achieve this, we establish a unified vision-question paradigm for in-context learning, enabling seamless communication with MLLMs to steer their behavior without altering model weights. Within this framework, we present a novel training-free visual prompting mechanism. This involves a visual-text prompting technique that assist MLLMs in reasoning about plausible layout plans, followed by an Offline-to-Online search (O2O-Search) method, which automatically identifies the minimal set of informative references to provide exemplars for visual-text prompting. By employing an agent system with MLLMs as the core controller, we enable bidirectional interaction. The agent not only comprehends the 3D environment and user requirements through linguistic and visual perception but also plans tasks and reasons about actions to generate and arrange furniture within the virtual space. Furthermore, the agent iteratively updates based on visual feedback from execution results. Abstract: By analyzing a data sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions with center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $7.9~\rm {fb}^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we study semileptonic decays of the $D^{0(+)}$ mesons into the axial-vector meson $b_1(1235)$ via the decay $b_1(1235)\to \omega\pi$. The decay $D^0\to b_1(1235)^-e^{+}\nu_{e}$ is observed with a significance of 5.2$\sigma$ after considering systematic uncertainty, while evidence for the decay $D^+\to b_1(1235)^0 e^+\nu_e$ is obtained with a 3.1$\sigma$ significance. The product branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}\nu_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^-\to \omega \pi^-) = (0.72\pm0.18^{+0.06}_{-0.08})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}\nu_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^0~\to \omega \pi^0) = (1.16\pm0.44\pm0.16)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of their partial decay widths is determined to be $\frac{\Gamma(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}\nu_{e})}{2\Gamma(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}\nu_{e})}=0.78\pm0.19^{+0.04}_{-0.05}$, which is consistent with unity, predicted by isospin invariance, within uncertainties., Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures

35. Functional Analytic Derivation and CP2K Implementation of the SCCS Model Based on the Solvent-Aware Interface

Abstract: In the self-consistent continuum solvation (SCCS) approach ($\textit{J. Chem. Phys.}$ 136, 064102 (2012)), the analytical expressions of the local solute-solvent interface functions determine the interface function and dielectric function values at a given real space position based solely on the electron density at that position, completely disregarding the surrounding electron density distribution. Therefore, the low electron density areas inside the solute will be identified by the algorithm as regions where implicit solvent exists, resulting in the emergence of non-physical implicit solvent regions within the solute and even potentially leading to the divergence catastrophe of Kohn-Sham SCF calculations. We present a new and efficient SCCS implementation based on the solvent-aware interface ($\textit{J. Chem. Theory Comput.}$ 15, 3, 1996-2009 (2019)) which addresses this issue by utilizing a solute-solvent interface function based on convolution of electron density in the CP2K software package, which is based on the mixed Gaussian and plane waves (GPW) approach. Starting with the foundational formulas of SCCS, we have rigorously and meticulously derived the contributions of the newly defined electrostatic energy to the Kohn-Sham potential and the analytical forces. This comprehensive derivation utilizes the updated versions of the solute-solvent interface function and the dielectric function, tailored to align with the specifics of the GPW implementation. Our implementation has been tested to successfully eliminate non-physical implicit solvent regions within the solute and achieve good SCF convergence, as demonstrated by test results for both bulk and surface models, namely liquid $H_2O$, titanium dioxide, and platinum.

Abstract: We perform the first investigation of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^+K^-\psi(2S)$ and report its Born cross sections over a range of center-of-mass energies from 4.699 to 4.951~GeV. The measurements are carried out using several partial reconstruction techniques using data samples collected by the BESIII detector with a total integrated luminosity of 2.5~fb$^{-1}$. 37. Large Nernst Effect in a layered metallic antiferromagnet EuAl$_2$Si$_2$

Abstract: The large Nernst effect is advantageous for developing transverse Nernst thermoelectric generators or Ettingshausen coolers within a single component, avoiding the complexity of electron- and hole-modules in longitudinal Seebeck thermoelectric devices. We report a large Nernst signal reaching 130 uV/K at 8 K and 13 T in the layered metallic antiferromagnet EuAl$_2$Si$_2$. Notably, this large transverse Nernst thermopower is two orders of magnitude greater than its longitudinal counterpart. The Nernst coefficient peaks around 4 K and 8 K at 3 T and 13 T, respectively. At similar temperatures, both the Hall coefficient and the Seebeck signal change sign. Additionally, nearly compensated electron- and hole-like carriers with high mobility ($\sim$ 4000 cm$^2$/Vs at 4 K) are revealed from the magnetoconductivity. These findings suggest that the large Nernst effect and vanishing Seebeck thermopower in EuAl$_2$Si$_2$ are due to the compensated electron- and hole-like bands, along with the high mobility of the Weyl band near the Fermi level. 38. DiffX: Guide Your Layout to Cross-Modal Generative Modeling

Abstract: Diffusion models have made significant strides in language-driven and layout-driven image generation. However, most diffusion models are limited to visible RGB image generation. In fact, human perception of the world is enriched by diverse viewpoints, such as chromatic contrast, thermal illumination, and depth information. In this paper, we introduce a novel diffusion model for general layout-guided cross-modal generation, called DiffX. Notably, our DiffX presents a simple yet effective cross-modal generative modeling pipeline, which conducts diffusion and denoising processes in the modality-shared latent space. Moreover, we introduce the Joint-Modality Embedder (JME) to enhance the interaction between layout and text conditions by incorporating a gated attention mechanism. To facilitate the user-instructed training, we construct the cross-modal image datasets with detailed text captions by the Large-Multimodal Model (LMM) and our human-in-the-loop refinement. Through extensive experiments, our DiffX demonstrates robustness in cross-modal ''RGB+X'' image generation on FLIR, MFNet, and COME15K datasets, guided by various layout conditions. It also shows the potential for the adaptive generation of ''RGB+X+Y(+Z)'' images or more diverse modalities on COME15K and MCXFace datasets. 39. LCA-on-the-Line: Benchmarking Out-of-Distribution Generalization with Class Taxonomies

Abstract: We tackle the challenge of predicting models' Out-of-Distribution (OOD) performance using in-distribution (ID) measurements without requiring OOD data. Existing evaluations with "Effective Robustness", which use ID accuracy as an indicator of OOD accuracy, encounter limitations when models are trained with diverse supervision and distributions, such as class labels (Vision Models, VMs, on ImageNet) and textual descriptions (Visual-Language Models, VLMs, on LAION). VLMs often generalize better to OOD data than VMs despite having similar or lower ID performance. To improve the prediction of models' OOD performance from ID measurements, we introduce the Lowest Common Ancestor (LCA)-on-the-Line framework. This approach revisits the established concept of LCA distance, which measures the hierarchical distance between labels and predictions within a predefined class hierarchy, such as WordNet. We assess 75 models using ImageNet as the ID dataset and five significantly shifted OOD variants, uncovering a strong linear correlation between ID LCA distance and OOD top-1 accuracy. Our method provides a compelling alternative for understanding why VLMs tend to generalize better. Additionally, we propose a technique to construct a taxonomic hierarchy on any dataset using K-means clustering, demonstrating that LCA distance is robust to the constructed taxonomic hierarchy. Moreover, we demonstrate that aligning model predictions with class taxonomies, through soft labels or prompt engineering, can enhance model generalization. 40. AGLLDiff: Guiding Diffusion Models Towards Unsupervised Training-free Real-world Low-light Image Enhancement

Abstract: Existing low-light image enhancement (LIE) methods have achieved noteworthy success in solving synthetic distortions, yet they often fall short in practical applications. The limitations arise from two inherent challenges in real-world LIE: 1) the collection of distorted/clean image pairs is often impractical and sometimes even unavailable, and 2) accurately modeling complex degradations presents a non-trivial problem. To overcome them, we propose the Attribute Guidance Diffusion framework (AGLLDiff), a training-free method for effective real-world LIE. Instead of specifically defining the degradation process, AGLLDiff shifts the paradigm and models the desired attributes, such as image exposure, structure and color of normal-light images. These attributes are readily available and impose no assumptions about the degradation process, which guides the diffusion sampling process to a reliable high-quality solution space. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach outperforms the current leading unsupervised LIE methods across benchmarks in terms of distortion-based and perceptual-based metrics, and it performs well even in sophisticated wild degradation., Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures

Abstract: We present the implementation of the Hubbard ($U$) and Hund ($J$) corrected Density Functional Theory (DFT+$U$+$J$) functionality in the Quickstep program, which is part of the CP2K suite. The tensorial and L\"owdin subspace representations are implemented and compared. Full analytical DFT+$U$+$J$ forces are implemented and benchmarked for the tensorial and L\"owdin representations. We also present the implementation of the recently proposed minimum-tracking linear-response method that enables the $U$ and $J$ parameters to be calculated on first principles basis without reference to the Kohn-Sham eigensystem. These implementations are benchmarked against recent results for different materials properties including DFT+$U$ band gap opening in NiO, the relative stability of various polaron distributions in TiO$_2$, the dependence of the calculated TiO$_2$ band gap on +$J$ corrections, and, finally, the role of the +$U$ and +$J$ corrections for the computed properties of a series of the hexahydrated transition metals. Our implementation provides results consistent with those already reported in the literature from comparable methods. We conclude the contribution with tests on the influence of the L\"owdin orthonormalization on the occupancies, calculated parameters, and derived properties.

Abstract: In the domain of autonomous driving, the integration of multi-modal perception techniques based on data from diverse sensors has demonstrated substantial progress. Effectively surpassing the capabilities of state-of-the-art single-modality detectors through sensor fusion remains an active challenge. This work leverages the respective advantages of cameras in perspective view and radars in Bird's Eye View (BEV) to greatly enhance overall detection and tracking performance. Our approach, Camera-Radar Associated Fusion Tracking Booster (CRAFTBooster), represents a pioneering effort to enhance radar-camera fusion in the tracking stage, contributing to improved 3D MOT accuracy. 43. RT-Pose: A 4D Radar Tensor-based 3D Human Pose Estimation and Localization Benchmark

Abstract: Traditional methods for human localization and pose estimation (HPE), which mainly rely on RGB images as an input modality, confront substantial limitations in real-world applications due to privacy concerns. In contrast, radar-based HPE methods emerge as a promising alternative, characterized by distinctive attributes such as through-wall recognition and privacy-preserving, rendering the method more conducive to practical deployments. This paper presents a Radar Tensor-based human pose (RT-Pose) dataset and an open-source benchmarking framework. The RT-Pose dataset comprises 4D radar tensors, LiDAR point clouds, and RGB images, and is collected for a total of 72k frames across 240 sequences with six different complexity-level actions. The 4D radar tensor provides raw spatio-temporal information, differentiating it from other radar point cloud-based datasets. We develop an annotation process using RGB images and LiDAR point clouds to accurately label 3D human skeletons. In addition, we propose HRRadarPose, the first single-stage architecture that extracts the high-resolution representation of 4D radar tensors in 3D space to aid human keypoint estimation. HRRadarPose outperforms previous radar-based HPE work on the RT-Pose benchmark. The overall HRRadarPose performance on the RT-Pose dataset, as reflected in a mean per joint position error (MPJPE) of 9.91cm, indicates the persistent challenges in achieving accurate HPE in complex real-world scenarios. 44. Defining 'Good': Evaluation Framework for Synthetic Smart Meter Data

Abstract: Access to granular demand data is essential for the net zero transition; it allows for accurate profiling and active demand management as our reliance on variable renewable generation increases. However, public release of this data is often impossible due to privacy concerns. Good quality synthetic data can circumnavigate this issue. Despite significant research on generating synthetic smart meter data, there is still insufficient work on creating a consistent evaluation framework. In this paper, we investigate how common frameworks used by other industries leveraging synthetic data, can be applied to synthetic smart meter data, such as fidelity, utility and privacy. We also recommend specific metrics to ensure that defining aspects of smart meter data are preserved and test the extent to which privacy can be protected using differential privacy. We show that standard privacy attack methods like reconstruction or membership inference attacks are inadequate for assessing privacy risks of smart meter datasets. We propose an improved method by injecting training data with implausible outliers, then launching privacy attacks directly on these outliers. The choice of $\epsilon$ (a metric of privacy loss) significantly impacts privacy risk, highlighting the necessity of performing these explicit privacy tests when making trade-offs between fidelity and privacy., Comment: This work has been submitted to the IEEE for possible publication. 45. Scalar curvature rigidity of domains in a warped product

Abstract: By exploiting the conformality of a warped product metric with a direct product metric, we develop a new connection on a twisted spinor bundle and its associated Dirac operator. We obtain a Llarull type scalar curvature rigidity for a general class of domains in a warped product. 47. Improved Model and Analysis for RIS-Assisted Indoor Terahertz Wireless Networks

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a new model for indoor THz communication assisted by RIS. We conduct a realistic modeling of indoor obstacles and analyze their impact on performance. Order statistics are applied to calculate the cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) of distances from the transmitter to the selected RIS, i.e., the nearest RIS in the bounded indoor environment to the transmitter, and from the selected RIS to the receiver. We calculate the coverage probability (CP) as a function of RIS number, obstacle density, room size, and the transmitter's location. By comparing the numerical results obtained from the analytical expressions with Monte Carlo simulations, we verify the accuracy of our analysis. Through numerical results, it is observed that room size and obstacle density affect the CP in a significant way. However, by optimizing the transmitter's location and increasing the RIS number deployed in the room, the CP can be significantly improved (e.g., an increase of around 15% by optimizing the transmitter's location, and an increase of around 30% by increasing the RIS number deployed in the room)., Comment: 11 pages, 11 figures, submitted to IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications

48. Error estimates of physics-informed neural networks for approximating Boltzmann equation

Abstract: Motivated by the recent successful application of physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) to solve Boltzmann-type equations [S. Jin, Z. Ma, and K. Wu, J. Sci. Comput., 94 (2023), pp. 57], we provide a rigorous error analysis for PINNs in approximating the solution of the Boltzmann equation near a global Maxwellian. The challenge arises from the nonlocal quadratic interaction term defined in the unbounded domain of velocity space. Analyzing this term on an unbounded domain requires the inclusion of a truncation function, which demands delicate analysis techniques. As a generalization of this analysis, we also provide proof of the asymptotic preserving property when using micro-macro decomposition-based neural networks.

Abstract: The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ processes are studied using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.530 to 4.946~GeV. The absolute branching fractions of $D_{s1}(2536)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0K^-$ are measured for the first time to be $(35.9\pm 4.8\pm 3.5)\%$ and $(37.4\pm 3.1\pm 4.6)\%$, respectively. The measurements are in tension with predictions based on the assumption that the $D_{s1}(2536)$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)$ are dominated by a bare $c\bar{s}$ component. The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6~GeV with a width of 50~MeV is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $15\sigma$ in the $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ process. It could be the $Y(4626)$ found by the Belle collaboration in the $D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^{-}$ final state, since they have similar masses and widths. There is also evidence for a structure at around 4.75~GeV in both processes.

Abstract: Vision-and-Language Navigation (VLN) has gained increasing attention over recent years and many approaches have emerged to advance their development. The remarkable achievements of foundation models have shaped the challenges and proposed methods for VLN research. In this survey, we provide a top-down review that adopts a principled framework for embodied planning and reasoning, and emphasizes the current methods and future opportunities leveraging foundation models to address VLN challenges.
