Abstract Background Pregnant and parenting youth in Canada face multiple challenges in fulfilling their parenting responsibilities while meeting their own unique needs. The COVID-19 pandemic and its associated public health restrictions exacerbated their challenges by reducing access to support networks, limiting opportunities to promote growth and well-being, and destabilizing their financial and economic standing. The impacts of the pandemic on the mental, physical, and emotional health of individuals are well-documented in the literature. However, there is limited research on how the pandemic influenced the lives, health, and well-being of pregnant and parenting youth and their children in Canada. Therefore, we aimed to examine the wider impacts (social and structural determinants that directly or indirectly impact health and well-being) of the pandemic and its implications for this population. Methods We used a constructivist grounded theory approach to explore the experiences of pregnant and parenting youth during the pandemic and how certain social determinants of health intersected to shape health outcomes and influence their ability to access services. We conducted qualitative interviews using a semi-structured interview guide over Zoom. Using grounded theory principles, we inductively analyzed the data and categorized our findings into themes. Results We recruited a total of 50 participants from different regions in Canada. The findings from the interviews were categorized into the following themes: (1) “They bear the burden alone”: Struggles of pregnant and parenting youth, (2) “How will I live the next day?”: Concerns and consequences arising from the pandemic, and (3) “Try to keep your mask on”: Navigating healthcare services while maintaining public health guidelines. Our findings highlight the various challenges encountered by the youth during the pandemic, particularly those associated with financial and economic constraints, lack of accessible health and social services, and increased stress from parenting responsibilities. Conclusion Pregnant and parenting youth in Canada encountered various barriers while accessing health and social services, maintaining their well-being, and connecting with reliable sources of support during the pandemic. Our study findings emphasize the urgent need for adaptable and comprehensive support systems explicitly catering to the needs of pregnant and parenting youth during crises, such as the pandemic.

The detection and imaging of amyloid peptides and fibrils are expected to help in the early identification of AD.Methods: Here, we propose a fast, easy-to-use, and simple scheme based on the selective adsorption of Aβ 42 molecules on SERS active gold nanoprobe (RB-AuNPs) of diameter 29 ± 3 nm for Detection of Alzheimer’s Disease Biomarkers. Binding with the peptides results in a spectrum shift, which correlates with the target peptide. We also demonstrated the possibility of using silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as precursors for the preparation of a SERS active nanoprobe with carbocyanine (CC) dye and AgNPs known as silver nanoprobe (CC-AgNPs) of diameter 25 ± 4 nm.Results: RB-AuNPs probe binding with the peptides results in a spectrum shift, which correlates with the target peptide. Arginine peak appears after the conjugation confirms the binding of Aβ 42 with the nanoprobe. Tyrosine peaks appear after conjugated Aβ 42 with CC-AgNPs providing binding of the peptide with the probe. The nanoprobe produced a strong, stable SERS signal. Further molecular docking was utilized to analyse the interaction and propose a structural hypothesis for the process of binding the nanoprobe to Aβ 42 and Tau protein.Conclusion: This peptide–probe interaction provides a general enhancement factor and the molecular structure of the misfolded peptides. Secondary structural information may be obtained at the molecular level for specific residues owing to isotope shifts in the Raman spectra. Conjugation of the nanoprobe with Aβ 42 selectively detected AD in bodily fluids. The proposed nanoprobes can be easily applied to the detection of Aβ plaques in blood, saliva, and sweat samples.Keywords: Alzheimer’s disease, nanoparticles, amyloid beta, surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy

High maternal mortality and morbidity rates continue to significantly impact the United States, with Black birthing individuals being two to three times more likely to die from pregnancy related causes compared to other races. Ongoing discussions are crucial to improving care delivery and amplifying the experiences and needs of marginalized survivors of pregnancy-related psychological harm. Thus, this commentary leverages current literature and vignettes to deliver recommendations on authentically engaging patients in the cross-sectoral process of dismantling harmful clinical and research practices, thus building a safe, equitable future for maternal health.

Abstract Background Mangrove ecosystems exhibit significant carbon storage and sequestration. Its capacity to store and sequester significant amounts of carbon makes this ecosystem very important for climate change mitigation. Indonesia, owing to the largest mangrove cover in the world, has approximately 3.14 PgC stored in the mangroves, or about 33% of all carbon stored in coastal ecosystems globally. Unfortunately, our comprehensive understanding of carbon flux is hampered by the incomplete repertoire of field measurement data, especially from mangrove ecosystem-rich regions such as Indonesia and Asia Pacific. This study fills the gap in greenhouse gases (GHGs) flux studies in mangrove ecosystems in Indonesia by quantifying the soil CO2 and CH4 fluxes for different land use types in mangrove ecosystems, i.e., secondary mangrove (SM), restored mangrove (RM), pond embankment (PE) and active aquaculture pond (AP). Environmental parameters such as soil pore salinity, soil pore water pH, soil temperature, air temperature, air humidity and rainfall are also measured. Results GHG fluxes characteristics varied between land use types and ecological conditions. Secondary mangrove and exposed pond embankment are potential GHG flux sources (68.9 ± 7.0 and 58.5 ± 6.2 MgCO2e ha− 1 yr− 1, respectively). Aquaculture pond exhibits the lowest GHG fluxes among other land use types due to constant inundation that serve as a barrier for the release of GHG fluxes to the atmosphere. We found weak relationships between soil CO2 and CH4 fluxes and environmental parameters. Conclusions The data and information on GHG fluxes from different land use types in the mangrove ecosystem will be of importance to accurately assess the potential of the mangrove ecosystem to sequester and emit GHGs. This will support the GHG emission reduction target and strategy that had been set up by the Indonesian Government in its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and Indonesia’s 2030 Forest and Other Land Use (FOLU) Net Sink.

Abstract Conservation of undrained tropical peatland ecosystems is critical for climate change mitigation as they store a tremendous amount of soil carbon that is preserved under anoxic water-logged conditions. Unfortunately, there are too few measurements of carbon fluxes from these ecosystems to estimate the climate change mitigation potential from such conservation efforts. Here, we measured carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) fluxes as well as fluvial organic carbon export over the peat swamp forest within an undrained tropical peatland landscape in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Our measurements throughout one year (Oct 2022–Sep 2023) showed that despite its water-logged condition, peat and water overlying the swamp forest on average emits 11.02 ± 0.49 MgCO2 ha−1 yr−1 of CO2 and 0.58 ± 0.04 MgCO2e ha−1 yr−1 of CH4. Further, the fluvial organic carbon export contributes to additional carbon loss of 1.68 ± 0.06 MgCO2e ha−1 yr−1. Our results help improve the accuracy of carbon accounting from undrained tropical peatlands, where we estimated a total carbon loss of 13.28 ± 0.50 MgCO2e ha−1 yr−1. Nevertheless, the total carbon loss reported from our sites is about half than what is reported from the drained peatland landscapes in the region and resulted in a larger onsite carbon sink potential estimate compared to other undrained peat swamp forests. Together, these findings indicate that conserving the remaining undrained peatland ecosystems in Indonesia from drainage and degradation is a promising natural climate solution strategy that avoids significant carbon emissions.

Abstract Background Plasma neurofilament light chain (NfL) is a promising biomarker of neurodegeneration with potential clinical utility in monitoring the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. However, the cross-sectional associations of plasma NfL with measures of cognition and brain have been inconsistent in community-dwelling populations. Methods We examined these associations in a large community-dwelling sample of early old age men (N = 969, mean age = 67.57 years, range = 61–73 years), who are either cognitively unimpaired (CU) or with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Specifically, we investigated five cognitive domains (executive function, episodic memory, verbal fluency, processing speed, visual-spatial ability), as well as neuroimaging measures of gray and white matter. Results After adjusting for age, health status, and young adult general cognitive ability, plasma NfL level was only significantly associated with processing speed and white matter hyperintensity (WMH) volume, but not with other cognitive or neuroimaging measures. The association with processing speed was driven by individuals with MCI, as it was not detected in CU individuals. Conclusions These results suggest that in early old age men without dementia, plasma NfL does not appear to be sensitive to cross-sectional individual differences in most domains of cognition or neuroimaging measures of gray and white matter. The revealed plasma NfL associations were limited to WMH for all participants and processing speed only within the MCI cohort. Importantly, considering cognitive status in community-based samples will better inform the interpretation of the relationships of plasma NfL with cognition and brain and may help resolve mixed findings in the literature.

This study aims to observe how the Integrative Holistic Early Childhood Development Program is implemented in ECCE units. The survey's conclusion that Bogor Regency's use of Integrative Holistic ECCE is still subpar served as the impetus for this investigation. This study uses a descriptive, qualitative research design. The PAUD unit in Bogor Regency hosted the study for three months, from March to May 2024. This study includes principals and instructors as subjects. Qualitative descriptive analysis is the data analysis method that is applied. Data reduction, data visualization, conclusion drafting, and data verification are among the stages of data analysis. Using triangulation, the data's veracity is verified. According to the study's findings, principals and teachers have a positive attitude toward PAUD HI, employ effective strategies or methods in their programs, and work together with the government, non-governmental organizations, parents, and the private sector. However, one of the main challenges in putting PAUD HI programs into practice in ECCE units is the lack of funding, facilities, and teaching staff, as well as a lack of resources for the learning environment and parent involvement. The study's conclusion The Integrative Holistic Early Childhood Development (PAUD HI) program faces a number of obstacles during implementation. To overcome these obstacles, the community, government, and educational institutions must work together well, actively involve parents, improve infrastructure and human resources, and conduct periodic evaluations.

Abstract INTRODUCTION This study investigates the relationship between cognitive functioning and 59 modifiable and intrinsic factors at the cusp of midlife. METHODS We analyzed data from 1221 participants in the Colorado Adoption/Twin Study of Lifespan behavioral development and cognitive aging (CATSLife; Mage = 33.20, %Female = 52.74). We assessed the impact of 59 factors on cognitive functioning using regularized regression and co‐twin control models, controlling for earlier‐life cognitive functioning and gray matter volume. RESULTS Eight robust factors were identified, including education attainment, cognitive complexity, purpose‐in‐life, and smoking status. Twins reporting higher levels of cognitive complexity and purpose‐in‐life showed better cognitive performance than their cotwin, while smoking was negatively associated. Using meta‐analytically derived effect size threshold, we additionally identified that twins experiencing more financial difficulty tend to perform less well compared with their cotwin. DISCUSSION The findings highlight the early midlife link between cognitive functioning and lifestyle/psychological factors, beyond prior cognitive performance, brain status, genetic and familial confounders. Our results further highlight the potential of established adulthood as a crucial window for dementia prevention interventions targeting lifestyle and psychosocial factors. Highlights Cog complexity(+), purpose‐in‐life(+) were associated with cognition in early midlife. Smoking(−) was also associated with cognition in early midlife. Results were consistent controlling for genetic and environmental confounds. Association between EA and cognition might be mostly genetic and familial confounded.

ABSTRAK Sistem kendali MPPT hendak mengendalikan penciptaan serta penyimpanan energi sistem PV menggunakan DC-DC boost converter. Perancangan dan pembuatan alat zeta converter berhasil dilakukan dengan menggunakan mikrokontroller arduino untuk menaikkan tingkat effisiensi daya keluaran pada PLTS berhasil dilakukan dengan baik. Keluaran tegangan serta arus yang dihasilkan oleh MPPT dengan memakai zeta converter relatif efektif dan effisien dibuktikan dengan daya keluaran PLTS yang memiliki tingkat effisiensi yang stabil setiap pengambilan data, dan tingkat effisiensi yang dihasilkan juga relatif tinggi yaitu 92%. Perhitungan yang dilakukan adalah dengan cara mengambil data arus dan tegangan pada MPPT tanpa zeta converter dan dengan zeta converter yang telah dihitung melalui perhitungan duty cycle. Adapun nilai duty cycle yang dihasilkan adalah 0,243 atau 24% dan arus input maximal yang dihasilkan setelah perhitungan adalah 5,34 Ampere. Kata Kunci: PLTS, MPPT, Zeta Converter, Arduino ABSTRACT Using a DC-DC boost converter, the MPPT management system will manage the generation and storage of PV system energy. The zeta converter was designed and manufactured successfully utilizing an Arduino microcontroller to boost the efficiency level of output power in PLTS. The voltage and current output produced by MPPT utilizing a zeta converter is relatively effective and efficient. The voltage and current output produced by MPPT using a zeta converter is relatively effective and efficient, as proven by the PLTS output power which has a stable efficiency level every time data is taken, and the resulting efficiency level is also relatively high, namely 92%. The calculations carried out are by taking current and voltage data on the MPPT without a zeta converter and with a zeta converter which has been calculated through duty cycle calculations. This qualitative study explores the process of designing and adapting materials for differentiated instruction in English language classrooms. The study aims to identify the factors that influence this process, the strategies that teachers use, and the challenges and opportunities they face. The study finds that the process of designing and adapting materials for differentiated instruction is complex and multifaceted, and is influenced by factors such as the needs and characteristics of learners, the curriculum and assessment requirements, and the available resources and technologies. Teachers use a variety of strategies to design and adapt materials, including modifying existing materials, creating new materials, and using digital tools and resources. The findings can inform future research and practice in the field of English language teaching, and contribute to the development of effective and inclusive approaches to language learning and teaching.

Route planning is a complex problem in transportation, and one has to consider several factors starting from vehicle’s capacity and customer’s demand, allocation of drivers for shipment, distance, travel time. Transportation as a one of the key elements in logistics and two third logistics costs, needs study further. This paper studied the effect of queuing activity on travel time that could be happened at customer’s shop. This study collected the related data which were three trucks, twenty-four coordinates of customers-baby shops, capacities of trucks, and volume of goods. The related theories were multiple traveling salesman problem (mTSP) and queuing theory – single server and using the FIFO – First In First Out discipline (M/M/1), and exponential distributed random variable. The route started from the main warehouse at 08:30 from Tangerang, shipped the orders to the customers located in Jakarta,, lunch break 12:00 to 13:00 and return to the main warehouse before 17:30 by using normal speed. OptimoRoute as one of the suitable software for solving the vehicle routing problem was used to solve the sequence of shipment, order allocation for drivers and time needed; where On Line Simulator was used to solve the effect of queue. The results indicated that there was an additional time around fifteen minutes per stop to travel time; the more shops, the longer time was needed. This additional time may impact the overtime cost if the amount of travel time exceeds the working hour and queuing time must be considered for the next route planning by the planner.

Fibromatous epulis is one of the most common features of the gingival enlargement. This condition results from inflammation of the gingiva, leading to fibrotic overgrowth caused by local or systemic factors. These enlargements increase gingival pocket depth, which may lead to periodontal disease causing functional disturbances in mastication, altered speech, aesthetics, and even psychological problems. A- 42-year-old male patient with gingival fibrotic overgrowth known as fibromatous epulis on proximal teeth in the middle upper front region extended to the palatal and accompanied by slight pain. The clinical appearance of this lesion was firm, slightly soft, and fibrotic, with 6 mm probing depth and bleeding on gingival probing at the proximal of 11 and 21 teeth region. In this case, periodontal surgery to eliminate gingival enlargement was a gingivectomy under local anaesthesia. The fibromatous epulis was entirely eliminated by gingivectomy, also effectively treated the inflammation, facilitated oral prophylaxis procedure, and increased the aesthetics.

The present study examined early socioeconomic status (SES) and neighborhood disadvantage (ND) as independent predictors of antisocial behavior (ASB) and addressed the etiology of the associations (i.e., genes versus the environment) using a longitudinal adoption design. Prospective data from the Colorado Adoption Project (435 adoptees, 598 nonadopted children, 526 biological grandparents of adoptees, 481 adoptive parents, and 617 nonadoptive parents including biological parents of unrelated siblings of adoptees) were examined. SES and ND were assessed during infancy and ASB was evaluated from ages four through 16 using parent and teacher report. Associations between predictors and ASB were compared across adoptive and nonadoptive families and sex. Early SES was a nominally significant, independent predictor of antisocial ASB, such that lower SES predicted higher levels of ASB in nonadoptive families only. ND was not associated with ASB. Associations were consistent across aggression and delinquency, and neither SES nor ND was associated with change in ASB over time. Nominally significant associations did not remain significant after controlling for multiple testing. As such, despite nonsignificant differences in associations across sex or adoptive status, we were unable to make definitive conclusions regarding the genetic versus environmental etiology of or sex differences in the influence of SES and ND on ASB. Despite inconclusive findings, in nonadoptees, results were consistent-in effect size and direction-with previous studies in the literature indicating that lower SES is associated with increased risk for ASB.

Background. Obesity is expected to hinder efferocytosis due to ADAM17-mediated cleavage of the MER tyrosine kinase receptor, producing soluble MER (sMER) that disrupts MERTK binding to cell death markers. However, the intracellular efferocytosis pathway in central obesity remains elusive, particularly the role of low-grade chronic inflammation in its initiation and identification of binding signals that disrupt efferocytosis. Objective. We investigate the efferocytosis signaling pathway in men with central obesity and its relationship with inflammation, cell death, and related processes. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted, and clinical data and blood samples were collected from 56 men with central obesity (obese group) and 29 nonobese individuals (control group). Clinical evaluations and predefined biochemical screening tests were performed. The efferocytosis signaling pathway was investigated by measuring phosphatidylserine (PS), ADAM17, TNF-alpha (TNF-α), and sMER. Results. Metabolic syndrome was detected in more than half of the participants in the obese group according to the predefined tests. Mean levels of PS, TNF-α, and sMER were higher in the obese group but not significantly different from those of the control group. Further analysis based on waist circumference (WC) ranges in the obese group revealed a significant increase in PS and sMER levels between the control group and the obese group with WC greater than 120 cm. ADAM17 levels were significantly higher in the obese group than in the control group. PS was positively correlated with WC and ADAM17. ADAM17 was positively correlated with TNF-α and sMER, indicating impaired efferocytosis. Conclusions. Central obesity appeared to cause a disturbance in efferocytosis that began with cell damage and death, along with an enlargement of the WC and an ongoing inflammatory response. Efferocytosis was disrupted by proinflammatory cytokine regulators, which induced the production of sMER and interfered with the efferocytosis process.

Water table management through controlled tile drainage and subsurface irrigation (CDSI), retrofitting to conventional tile drainage, has been developed to abate the environmental impacts of irrigation and drainage meanwhile supporting agroecosystems and crop productivity. Since the environmental profile of new technologies is a prerequisite to understanding their socio-economic benefits, a life cycle assessment was conducted to assess the environmental impacts of CDSI on corn production for the 2014 and 2015 growing seasons at St-Emmanuel, south-western Quebec in eastern Canada, compared to the free drainage (FD). Inventory flows of corn production with CDSI and FD were developed using biophysical data from field experiments and public databases. Then, environmental impacts were compared for corn production with CDSI and FD, including climate change, eutrophication potential, acidification potential, and toxicity. The assessment results show the environmental benefits of implementing CDSI, particularly in improving water quality. However, potential synergy and trade-offs of climate change, eutrophication, and acidification impacts from the implementation of CDSI, especially under different climatic conditions, should be further monitored to improve the performance of the technology. Nevertheless, CDSI and associated practices can be adopted as adaptation measures in agricultural water management to support agroecosystems and address the challenges posed by environmental impacts. HIGHLIGHTS This study compares environmental impacts of controlled drainage with sub-irrigation (CDSI) and free drainage (FD) for corn agroecosystems in eastern Canada.; GHG fluxes data from the field were integrated into the life cycle inventory.; CDSI has positive impacts in reducing environmental impacts of corn production on climate change and eutrophication compared to FD.; Trade-offs between climate change, eutrophication and acidification may affect CDSI's environmental performance.;

Abstract Cell death is a basic physiological process that occurs in all living organisms. A few key players in these mechanisms, as well as various forms of cell death programming, have been identified. Apoptotic cell phagocytosis, also known as apoptotic cell clearance, is a well-established process regulated by a number of molecular components, including ‘find-me’, ‘eat-me’ and engulfment signals. Efferocytosis, or the rapid phagocytic clearance of cell death, is a critical mechanism for tissue homeostasis. Despite having similar mechanism to phagocytic clearance of infections, efferocytosis differs from phagocytosis in that it induces a tissue-healing response and is immunologically inert. However, as field of cell death has rapid expanded, much attention has recently been drawn to the efferocytosis of additional necrotic-like cell types, such as necroptosis and pyroptosis. Unlike apoptosis, this method of cell suicide allows the release of immunogenic cellular material and causes inflammation. Regardless of the cause of cell death, the clearance of dead cells is a necessary function to avoid uncontrolled synthesis of pro-inflammatory molecules and inflammatory disorder. We compare and contrast apoptosis, necroptosis and pyroptosis, as well as the various molecular mechanisms of efferocytosis in each type of cell death, and investigate how these may have functional effects on different intracellular organelles and signalling networks. Understanding how efferocytic cells react to necroptotic and pyroptotic cell uptake can help us understand how to modulate these cell death processes for therapeutic purposes.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is associated with increased risk of dementia. However, whether TBI is associated with greater cognitive decline over time in specific cognitive domains among older adults is not well understood. This prospective cohort study used data from 1476 male Vietnam Era Twin Study of Aging participants (average age at study entry = 57.9 years, range = 51?71 years; 97.6% non-Hispanic; 92.5% White) collected from 2003 to 2019, who had complete information on prior TBI. Participants completed a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment at up to three visits over up to a 12-year follow-up period during which they also self-reported their history of TBI. Multivariable, linear mixed-effects models were used to assess associations between TBI and cognitive performance trajectories. Effect measure modification by apolipoprotein E (APOE) epsilon 4 (?4) genotype status was assessed in a subset of participants. Thirty-one percent of participants reported a history of TBI; 29.4% were APOE ?4 carriers. There were no statistically significant associations of TBI with decline in episodic memory, executive function, or processing speed among participants overall. In models stratified by APOE ?4 carrier status, TBI was associated with a larger magnitude of decline in executive function for APOE ?4 carriers (? = ?0.0181; 95% confidence interval [CI] ?0.0335, ?0.0027) compared to noncarriers (? = ?0.0031; 95% CI ?0.0128, 0.0067; PInteraction = 0.03). In sensitivity analyses, TBI earlier in life (before military induction, average age = 20 years) was associated with faster declines in executive function compared to no TBI, irrespective of APOE ?4 status. In this sample of middle-to-older aged men, TBI was associated with faster declines in executive function among APOE ?4 carriers and among those who reported TBI in early life. These findings support the importance of a life course perspective when considering factors that may influence cognitive health in aging.

The efforts made by early childhood education teachers to address the risks associated with "Strawberry Generation" qualities are the subject of this study. The study aims to investigate the methods teachers use to counteract the detrimental impacts of these traits and encourage young children's development of good character. Data were gathered through interviews and observations using the qualitative research method. A sample of early childhood education teachers actively tackling the Strawberry Generation phenomena participated in the study. The study's conclusions point to several efficient tactics educators employ to counter the risks posed by Strawberry Generation features. These tactics include encouraging active student participation, using active learning techniques, acting as positive role models, storytelling and narratives, working with parents, and using active learning methodologies. With the help of these techniques, educators can help kids comprehend the drawbacks of Strawberry Generation features and encourage the development of good character traits as alternatives. The study emphasizes how crucial parent-teacher cooperation is in overcoming the difficulties brought on by Strawberry Generation features. The results highlight the importance of regular efforts, communication, and support from parents and teachers in assisting children in developing desirable character traits. This study adds to the corpus of knowledge by shedding light on early childhood educators' role in mitigating the risks associated with Strawberry Generation features. The findings have practical ramifications for educators, parents, and governments interested in early childhood education. Early childhood education teachers can be crucial in fostering children's excellent character characteristics and mitigating the harmful effects of the Strawberry Generation phenomena by using appropriate tactics.

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) is a traditional major crop and export of Guyana. This study aims to assess the current irrigation scenario and propose scenarios to maximize the yield and water use efficiency of sugarcane (S. officinarum) in Guyana, using the AquaCrop model. Field-measured climate and soil data, and local crop parameters were used in the simulations. The crop simulations were calibrated with actual yields from 2005 to 2008. The calibrated parameters were then validated using the 2009 to 2012 yield dataset. The good agreement (RMSE of 7.15%) with the recorded yield during validation and the low sensitivity of calibrated parameters indicate the acceptability of AquaCrop and the parameters used for simulations. During calibration, the yield was weakly sensitive (0.6–2% ΔRMSEn) to changes in crop parameter values with the highest sensitivity observed for the maximum canopy cover (CCx) and the crop coefficient (kcmax). Several irrigation scenarios were then simulated, of which no significant reduction or increase in yield was observed between the scenarios 50% to 100% of the total available water (TAW). A threshold of 50%TAW is advised during dry periods to avoid significant yield loss. It is recommended that this scenario be validated with field experiments. The results of this study will assist in maintaining high sugarcane yields even during dry conditions.

It is hoped that the crime of persecution, both severe and light persecution, can be resolved by using approaches that are capable of resolving the criminal act of persecution in the jurisdiction of the Barumun Tengah Police. For example, 3 (three) cases of persecution have been successfully resolved using a restorative justice approach. Currently, the settlement of criminal acts of persecution has prioritized the principle of restorative justice by mediating and paying compensation and medical expenses to victims. The problems in this study, namely: the legal regulation of a restorative justice approach in resolving criminal acts of persecution; the process of settlement with restorative justice against criminal acts of persecution at the Barumun Tengah Police; obstacles and efforts of investigators in resolving criminal acts of persecution through restorative justice at the Barumun Tengah Police. This research is a study of the legal theory of justice which is carried out by applying a scientific analytical process. The data used is secondary data which is supported by empirical data. The data used in legal research is sourced from primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. Secondary data collection was carried out using library research techniques and data collection tools in the form of document studies. Empirical data were collected using field study techniques and data were collected through in-depth interviews. Data analysis used qualitative methods. Conclusions are drawn using the inductive method. The results of the study show that: The legal arrangement of a restorative justice approach in resolving criminal acts of persecution to date, starting from the level of investigation, prosecution, to trial; The process of resolving with restorative justice against criminal acts of persecution at the Barumun Tengah Police, starting from the pre-restorative justice stage, restorative justice stage, and post-restorative justice stage; The most conspicuous obstacle is the legal culture barrier related to requests for compensation by the victim's family which the perpetrators cannot fulfill.

Dental implant is a material used in replacing missing teeth. The osseointegration process of dental implants will be affected by the macrodesign of the fixtures. This study aimed to review the dental implant macrodesign in the past 10 years. This study was conducted in a systematic review method using two electronic databases (PUBMED and Science Direct). Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in the last 10 years were used for this review. All the search results were filtered using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews And Meta-Analyses and should fulfill some predefined inclusion criteria. The last step was to assess the methodological quality of the studies using the JBI Checklist for RCT. The search identified 357 studies with only 23 that going through full-text analysis, resulting in 14 articles included in the review. In total, 19 different implant brands were used in 12 different countries. Dental implant macrodesigns were divided into collar design, implant shape, thread geometry, and platform design. The macrodesign features of the implant were mostly developed in the variation of thread geometry and collar design.

Abstract Background Blood-based neurofilament light chain (NfL) is a promising biomarker of neurodegeneration across multiple neurodegenerative diseases. However, blood-based NfL is highly associated with renal function in older adults, which leads to the concern that blood-based NfL levels may be influenced by renal function, rather than neurodegeneration alone. Despite growing interest in using blood-based NfL as a biomarker of neurodegeneration in research and clinical practices, whether renal function should always be accounted for in these settings remains unclear. Moreover, the mechanisms underlying this association between blood-based measures of NfL and renal function remain elusive. In this study, we first evaluated the effect of renal function on the associations of plasma NfL with other measures of neurodegeneration. We then examined the extent of genetic and environmental contributions to the association between plasma NfL and renal function. Methods In a sample of 393 adults (mean age=75.22 years, range=54–90), we examined the associations of plasma NfL with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) NfL and brain volumetric measures before and after adjusting for levels of serum creatinine (an index of renal function). In an independent sample of 969 men (mean age=67.57 years, range=61–73) that include monozygotic and dizygotic twin pairs, we replicated the same analyses and leveraged biometrical twin modeling to examine the genetic and environmental influences on the plasma NfL and creatinine association. Results Plasma NfL’s associations with cerebrospinal fluid NfL and brain volumetric measures did not meaningfully change after adjusting for creatinine levels. Both plasma NfL and creatinine were significantly heritable (h 2=0.54 and 0.60, respectively). Their phenotypic correlation (r=0.38) was moderately explained by shared genetic influences (genetic correlation=0.46) and unique environmental influences (unique environmental correlation=0.27). Conclusions Adjusting for renal function is unnecessary when assessing associations between plasma NfL and other measures of neurodegeneration but is necessary if plasma NfL is compared to a cutoff for classifying neurodegeneration-positive versus neurodegeneration-negative individuals. Blood-based measures of NfL and renal function are heritable and share common genetic influences.

Bendungan Gunungrowo dibangun sejak tahun 1925 terletak pada Sungai Wadi. Bendungan ini mempunyai tipe urugan tanah homogen dan mempunyai tinggi 20,5 m, dengan kapasitas tampungan 5,11 juta m3 untuk mensuplai air irigasi seluas 6.000 ha. Karena masa operasionalnya yang sudah mendekati 100 tahun maka perlu mengevaluasi tingkat stabilitas keamanan bendungannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk 1) mengetahui stabilitas keamanan rembesan dari berbagai skenario ketinggian muka air waduk; 2) mengetahui stabilitas keamanan lereng (Safety Factor) dari berbagai skenario ketinggian muka air waduk; 3) mengetahui variabel permeabilitas core berpengaruh terhadap rembesan ditubuh bendungan, dan 4) mengetahui variabel permeabilitas core berpengaruh terhadap stabilitas lereng di tubuh bendungan. Pembahasan utama yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah melakukan analisis stabilitas keamanan bendungan dengan memanfaatkan software GeoStudio-2012 dengan fitur SEEP/W pada debit rembesan dan SLOPE/W pada FK (Faktor Keamanan) lerengnya. Pemodelan pada SEEP/W ini menggunakan konsep saturated soil mechanics. Parameter yang diinput untuk analisis stabilitas lereng adalah dimensi bendungan, jenis material, berat isi (γ), kohesi (c), dan sudut geser (j). Kajian dilakukan pada semua nilai debit rembesan dan semua nilai FK pada saat muka air berada pada elevasi minimum, normal, muka air banjir dan surut cepat dengan perhitungan tanpa beban gempa. Hasil kajian diperoleh nilai FK, nilai debit, stabil terhadap bahaya longsor dan bahaya piping memenuhi syarat aman. Selanjutnya dari nilai debit rembesan dan nilai FK dikaji bagaimana pengaruh variabel permeabilitas core bendungan terhadap bahaya piping dan potensi bahaya longsor. Dari hasil analisis disimpulkan bahwa semakin besar nilai permeabilitas semakin besar debit rembesan dan jika semakin besar nilai permeabilitas akan semakin kecil nilai faktor keamanannya.

The organic soils of Holland Marsh, Ontario are used for intensive vegetable production, which demands high-phosphorus (P) fertilizer applications. Such high-fertilizer applications on these tile-drained lands lead to eutrophication in surrounding water bodies. This study investigated the application of neural network (NN) models for deriving P management strategies. Seven NN models were assessed using the following two approaches: a time series with 1-year training and 1-year testing of the models and a randomization analysis where a random 80% of data was used for model training and the remainder for model testing. The feed-forward model using the randomization and the long-short-term memory model using time-series outperformed all other models. Two strategies for P management were evaluated: a direct approach that predicts P loads using new fertilizer rates or controlled drainage discharge rates, and a particle swarm optimization (PSO) that used a percent reduction of actual P loads to predict an optimal water table management strategy. Overall, the direct approach identified a water table level of 30 cm from the soil surface during the spring and 80 cm during the summer period as optimal to reduce P loads. The PSO analysis showed that a reduction of P loads by 20% in the spring and up to 40% in the summer through water table control would not compromise crop production. HIGHLIGHTS The FNN model had the best performance with the randomization analysis.; The LSTM model outperformed all models using the time-series analysis to predict total phosphorus (TP) loads.; NN models can accurately predict TP loading in P management scenarios.; A water table of 30 cm (spring) and 80 cm (summer) from soil surface is the ideal beneficial management practice.; Inverse approach found optimal TP load reduction of 20% (spring) and 40% (summer).;

Abstract Background There is robust evidence that in midlife, higher body mass index (BMI) and metabolic syndrome (MetS), which often co-exist, are associated with increased mortality risk. However, late-life findings are inconclusive, and few studies have examined how metabolic health status (MHS) affects the BMI–mortality association in different age categories. We, therefore, aimed to investigate how mid- and late-life BMI and MHS interact to affect the risk of mortality. Methods This cohort study included 12,467 participants from the Swedish Twin Registry, with height, weight, and MHS measures from 1958—2008 and mortality data linked through 2020. We applied Cox proportional hazard regression with age as a timescale to examine how BMI categories (normal weight, overweight, obesity) and MHS (identification of MetS determined by presence/absence of hypertension, hyperglycemia, low HDL, hypertriglyceridemia), independently and in interaction, are associated with the risk of all-cause mortality. Models were adjusted for sex, education, smoking, and cardiovascular disease. Results The midlife group included 6,252 participants with a mean age of 59.6 years (range = 44.9—65.0) and 44.1% women. The late-life group included 6,215 participants with mean age 73.1 years (65.1—95.3) and 46.6% women. In independent effect models, metabolically unhealthy status in midlife increased mortality risks by 31% [hazard ratio 1.31; 95% confidence interval 1.12–1.53] and in late-life, by 18% (1.18;1.10–1.26) relative to metabolically healthy individuals. Midlife obesity increased the mortality risks by 30% (1.30;1.06–1.60) and late-life obesity by 15% (1.15; 1.04–1.27) relative to normal weight. In joint models, the BMI estimates were attenuated while those of MHS were less affected. Models including BMI-MHS categories revealed that, compared to metabolically healthy normal weight, the metabolically unhealthy obesity group had increased mortality risks by 53% (1.53;1.19—1.96) in midlife, and across all BMI categories in late-life (normal weight 1.12; 1.01–1.25, overweight 1.10;1.01–1.21, obesity 1.31;1.15–1.49). Mortality risk was decreased by 9% (0.91; 0.83–0.99) among those with metabolically healthy overweight in late-life. Conclusions MHS strongly influenced the BMI-mortality association, such that individuals who were metabolically healthy with overweight or obesity in mid- or late-life did not carry excess risks of mortality. Being metabolically unhealthy had a higher risk of mortality independent of their BMI.

This study aimed to analyze how effective the use of social media was to maximize recognition and sales. On social media, users had tried to reveal in­formation they already knew about financial technology startup businesses. User Generated Content (UGC) information, which was a track record left by users on social media, can be used as a mapping for users who communicate on social media. This study itself had used this phenomenon to measure the performance of companies (through brands) that were popular on social media, namely Gopay and DANA, in an effort to measure a person's awareness and interest. The method used was Social Network Analysis (SNA). This qualitative research aimed to describe the results of a phenomenon that were occurs. The results of this study indicated that DANA had advantages in the community and it was easy for users to communicate because there were few accounts that must be passed in conveying information. Meanwhile, Gopay had the advantage of having a large number of users and being have many relationships between users.

The present experimental investigation aims to analyse the effect of various machining parameters, such as pulse peak current (Ion), pulse on time (Ton), pulse off time (Toff) and spark voltage (SV) on the surface roughness (SR) and material removal rate(MRR) by using continuous traveling of both wire electrode (i.e. brass wire and zinc-coated brass wire). The present work also analyses the effect of types of wires, such as brass wire and zinc-coated brass wire used during machining of Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) on Surface roughness (SR) and material removal rate (MRR). This work studies the correlation between various response parameter such SR and MRR by using same machining parameter by for both wires.

This paper presents the performance evaluation of a proposed single-phase bidirectional active neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) five-level converter (5LC) for active filtering in grid-to-vehicle (G2V), vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) applications. In the system, the 5LC is series-connected with an electric vehicle battery charger based on a dual active half-bridge DC-DC converter (DAHBC). A cascaded strategy with a proportional-resonant compensator controls the 5LC whereas the DAHBC is controlled by a single phase-shift technique. A performance comparison is carried out for the proposed topology versus three NPC/ANPC 5L converters found in literature with similar topologies. The simulation results obtained in MATLAB-SimPowerSystems along with the experimental results obtained from a laboratory prototype validate the following: a) the first two literature topologies have the highest efficiencies, but they are incapable of balancing the voltage of the split-capacitors what increases the total harmonic distortion of both the grid current in the G2V/V2G modes and the 5LC output voltage in the V2H mode while producing a sluggish transient response, b) the 3rd literature topology like the proposed one properly balance the capacitors voltage and achieve a faster dynamics, but at the expense of an efficiency reduction, and c) unlike the former topology that continuously applies a natural but wasting unfedback voltage balancing strategy, the proposed one that includes a closed-loop control allows achieving an ANPC 5LC with a superior performance featured by a higher efficiency, a reduced switches stress, a flatter power losses distribution and a better power quality improving under the three modes of operation.

Aluminum alloy 7075-T651 is a widely used material in the aviation, marine, and automobile sectors. The wide application marks the importance of this material’s research in the manufacturing field. This research focuses on optimizing input process parameters of the turning process in the machining of Aluminum 7075-T651 with a tungsten carbide insert. The input machining parameters are cutting speed, feed, and depth of cut for the output response parameters cutting force, feed force, radial force, material removal, and surface roughness of the workpiece. For optimization of process parameters, the Taguchi method, with standard L9 orthogonal array, is used. ANOVA is applied to obtain signifi-cant factors and optimal combinations of process parameters.

ACWH (Air Conditioner Water Heater) merupakan aplikasi rekayasa teknologi AC yang memanfaatkan panas buang dari kompresor. Pemanfaatannya dengan menambahkan alat penukar kalor (APK) yang bertujuan untuk memanaskan air didalam tanki, sehingga dapat memenuhi kebutuhan air panas untuk mandi. Dalam penelitia ini, APK yang digunakan adalah pipa kapiler berbahan tembaga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh panjang pipa kapiler terhadap kinerja ACWH. Variasi panjang pipa kapiler yakni 8 m (1/2 dari ukuran tinggi tanki) dengan 15 lilitan dan pipa dengan panjang 16m dengan 30 lilitan (setinggi tanki). Diameter lilitan sebesar 150 mm. Variable yang akan diuji dan diamati adalah hasil temperature pemanasan air, temperature refrigerant keluar kompresor, dan juga temperature refrigerant masuk kondensor pada waktu 60 menit. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap 3 temperatur evaporator yang berbeda yakni 16 0C, 18 0C, dan 20 0C. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa alat penukar kalor dengan panjang pipa kapiler 16 m lebih efektif untuk memanaskan air dibandingkan dengan alat penukar kalor dengan panjang pipa kapiler 8 m. Temperatur air dalam tanki dengan pengujian temperatur evaporator 16 0C sebesar 53.81°C dengan panjang pipa kapiler 16m. Sedangkan panjang pipa 8m, diperoleh temperatur air dalam tanki sebesar 53, 69 0C. Untuk pengujian dengan temperatur evaporator 18 0C dan 20 0C dengan menggunakan panjang pipa kapiler 16 m hasilnya masing-masing sebesar 51°C dan 46.81°C. Sedangkan menggunakan pipa kapiler 8m hasilnya masing-masing sebesar 49.94 0C dan 49.06 0C
