A "defining moment experience" is a pinnacle moment or critical incident that occurs within a therapeutic context and contributes significantly to the professional development and personal growth of counselors. The aim of this qualitative study was to investigate how experienced counselors make sense and meaning of their defining moment experiences in terms of developing their clinical attributes. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine experienced professional counselors to investigate how defining moment experiences influenced their professional development. Five main themes were derived from analysis via interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA): acceptance reality, finding a balance, enhanced self-reflection and awareness, reciprocal transformation, and assimilation and integration. These themes provide perspectives on how facilitating conversations and reflection on defining moment experiences may enhance professional development and clinical attributes among counselors.

Urgensi masalah yang sedang dihadapi dalam dunia pendidikan karena ketidakpastian masyarakat dalam mengambil informasi yang berimbas pada tidak fokusnya lembaga pendidikan memperoleh pengetahuan yang siap dalam setiap mata pelajaran. Maka siswa harus dipersiapkan untuk tujuan baru yang tidak berorientasi pada konvensional terus menerus. Siswa harus sadar akan tujuan pendidikan mereka sendiri dalam merancang maupun mengimplementasikan rute pendidikan mereka yang sejalan dengan perubahan kehidupan nyata. Dasar aksiologi pada hakikatnya tidak lepas dari ontologi dan epistemologi. Kebergunaan aksiologi untuk mengukur kebermanfaatan nilai dari dunia pendidikan yang diharapkan dapat menciptakan pendidikan yang modern. Penelitian dilakukan secara literer, dengan kajian pustaka yang dipilih buku-buku dan jurnal atau majalah ilmiah yang memuat uraian mengenai orientasi aksiologi, filsafat ilmu, dan pemecahan masalah pendidikan. Data yang dibutuhkan adalah data kualitatif yang diolah dengan metode reflektif, dilengkapi dengan metode ‘verstehen’. Artikel ini berusaha untuk menentukan karakteristik esensial aksiologi dalam pendidikan universal modern sebagai proses implementasi aksiologi dalam penentuan nasib sendiri guru dan siswa. The urgency of the problem that is being faced in the world of education is due to the uncertainty of the community in taking information which has an impact on the focus of educational institutions on obtaining ready knowledge in each subject. Then students must be prepared for new goals that are not conventionally oriented continuously. Students should be aware of their own educational goals in designing as well as implementing their educational routes in line with real-life changes. The basis of axiology is essentially inseparable from ontology and epistemology. This research was carried out in a literal way, with a literature review that selected scientific books and journals or magazines which contained descriptions of axiological orientation, philosophy of science, and educational problem solving. The data needed is qualitative data which is processed using a reflective method, supplemented by the 'verstehen' method. This article attempts to determine the essential characteristics of axiology in modern universal education as a process of implementing axiology in the self-determination of teachers and students.

Tidak semua karyawan akan langsung sukses dalam meniti karier sebagai wirausahawan. Terdapat beberapa guncangan yang dapat mematahkan semangat untuk beralih karier sebagai wirausahawan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan guncangan karier (terdiri atas: pilihan karier, pengembangan karier, dan adaptasi karier) yang dialami wirusahawan milenial saat beralih karir dari karyawan menjadi pengusaha. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sebagai teknik pengumpulan datanya. Reduksi data dilakukan untuk mendapatkan makna dari jawaban-jawaban informan. Makna inilah yang akan diselaraskan untuk memperoleh penjelasan dari pertanyaan penelitian, Untuk itulah, penelitian ini menggunakan 5 (lima) informan yang merupakan pengusaha milenial, memilih untuk beralih karier dari karyawan menjadi wirausahawan dan berdomisili di Kota Tangerang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam menghadapi guncangan karier sebagai wirausahawan diperlukan modal dan mental saat memilih karier, keterampilan dan strategi kinerja yang dapat diperoleh dari pengalaman selama menjadi karyawan untuk mengembangkan karier, dan manajemen diri dengan melakukan penyesuaian standar untuk beradaptasi.

Peat and forest fire have become an annual disaster and one of which is due to low rainfall. The highest insecurity of forest and peatland fires thus occurs in the dry season, where rainfall is very low, and the intensity of the sun is high. The smoke and carbon emitted result in rising air temperatures and cause global warming. Mitigation and control measures before they happen are necessary. Weather Modification Technology (WMT) serves as one of the technological solutions to control forest fires by increasing rainfall in potentially affected locations. This study aims at examining the level of effectiveness of WMT performance in mitigating forest fires in Riau Province conducted in 2020 measured by rainfall intensity, hotspots decreased, and land water level increased. We used descriptive and inferential statistical approaches using Groundwater Level (GwL) measured data as the parameter for forest and land fire mitigation. The flammable peatland indicator is when the water level is lower than 40 cm below the surface of the peatland. In addition, we also utilized rainfall, surface peat water level, and hotspots. The study was conducted in Riau Province from July 24 – October 31, 2020. The results showed that the operation of WMT increased rainfall by 19.4% compared to the historical average in the same period. Rain triggered by WMT contributed to maintaining zero hotspots with a confidence level of 80%. The regression analysis of GwL to rainfall (RF) as depicted by Gwl = - 0.66 + 0.001 RF shows a positive correlation between the two. It thus confirms that WMT can be used as a technology to mitigate forest and land fire disasters.

Modern society presents a problem where it is increasingly common for minority groups/cultural groups/indigenous groups to show their identity to fulfill their collective right to vote in politics. This study aims to describe the form of democracy that is still hampered because the fulfillment of the voting rights of the Mandailing community is still limited. This research is qualitative descriptive research conducted in the Mandailing community in Kecamataan Sungai Kanan. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The collected data is then analyzed using Creswell's techniques which consist of organizing and preparing the data, reading the data, the coding process or general analysis, the coding categorization process that has been made, and describing the themes into qualitative explanations and analysis. The results of this study prove that the level of understanding of the Mandailing community on the importance of the right to vote is still shallow; this is related because the KPU, as the organizer, does not seriously socialize the political rights of citizens. In this case, the right to vote and be elected. Meanwhile, monotonous activities are always represented by the Mandailing community by representing their voting rights to traditional leaders or elders in the area.

Today is the understanding of the values ​​of Pancasila in the younger generation is getting eroded. Of course, it is hoped that this will not happen to young santri. With a solid Islamic background, santri find it easier to understand the values ​​of Pancasila and do not fall into a negative understanding of Pancasila. Therefore, this community service activity aims to provide a new understanding of the use of visual media in the form of the Pancasila Comic (abbreviated as KOPALA). In realizing this goal, the methods used are lectures and evaluation using games by utilizing devices that can display comic visuals. At the same time, the participants who were included in this activity were the santri, who were also students at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah and Madrasah Tsanawiyah benches, totalling 17 santri. They are santri of Pesantren Yatim Cahaya Madinah in South Tangerang. In general, the implementation of the activities was successful although with some shortcomings, such as facilities. Furthermore, it is necessary to apply the same action to adolescents at the Madrasah Aliyah level and training for teachers in literacy, software and hardware, gadgets, and classroom management

The emergence of Industrial Revolution 4.0 has a significant impact on the business processes. It is also expected to change the characteristics of the needed accounting information. The close ties between accounting and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 encourages researchers to conduct research regarding the correlation between the two fields. The research aimed to discuss the characteristics of companies in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era and identify whether a mismatch occurred between the information in the financial statements and the changes in the characteristics of companies in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. It was a narrative literature review using secondary data from various sources. Data collection was made through library research. Then, the data were analyzed using content analysis. The results show that more and more digital-based companies emerge and develop with a remarkably high company value even without having any underlying asset. On the other hand, several studies indicate that assets as an element of financial statements are necessary for determining the company value for allocating economic resources effectively. However, some studies explain that companies with high assets have a high company value. It shows a gap that makes the relevance of financial statements in determining the company value in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era questionable. This matter has implications for stakeholders to use financial statements for decision-making in Industrial Revolution 4.0 era and future research.

The purpose of this article is to discuss poverty as a multidimensional factor influencing health. We will also explicate how racism contributes to and perpetuates the economic and financial inequality that diminishes prospects for population health improvement among marginalized racial and ethnic groups. Poverty is one of the most significant challenges for our society in this millennium. Over 40% of the world lives in poverty. The U.S. has one of the highest rates of poverty in the developed world, despite its collective wealth, and the burden falls disproportionately on communities of color. A common narrative for the relatively high prevalence of poverty among marginalized minority communities is predicated on racist notions of racial inferiority and frequent denial of the structural forms of racism and classism that have contributed to public health crises in the United States and across the globe. Importantly, poverty is much more than just a low-income household. It reflects economic well-being, the ability to negotiate society relative to education of an individual, socioeconomic or health status, as well as social exclusion based on institutional policies, practices, and behaviors. Until structural racism and economic injustice can be resolved, the use of evidence-based prevention and early intervention initiatives to mitigate untoward effects of socioeconomic deprivation in communities of color such as the use of social media/culturally concordant health education, social support, such as social networks, primary intervention strategies, and more will be critical to address the persistent racial/ethnic disparities in chronic diseases.

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh tim dosen Program Studi S1 Akuntansi – Fakultas Ekonomi Unpar pada tahun 2018 merupakan kegiatan pengabdian bagi Klinik Pratama Pandu. Klinik Pratama Pandu bergerak dalam bidang pelayanan kesehatan bagi masyarakat menengah ke bawah, yang memiliki dua buah klinik, yaitu klinik umum dan klinik gigi. Saat ini, Klinik Pratama Pandu belum memiliki sistem pencatatan yang baik, sehingga ada beberapa hal yang dapat menyebabkan penurunan kualitas yang diberikan, seperti misalnya tidak adanya pencatatan mengenai persediaan obat-obatan. Tidak tersedianya pencatatan yang akurat dapat menyebabkan pelayanan kesehatan yang diberikan menjadi tertunda. Tim dosen Program Studi Akuntansi Unpar melakukan kegiatan pengabdian berupa penyusunan sistem informasi akuntansi secara terkomputerisasi. Hasil yang dicapai berupa program aplikasi komputer yang dibuat dengan menggunakan Microsoft Access untuk Klinik Pratama Pandu. Program aplikasi komputer ini dibuat sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna yang dibagi ke dalam 3 kelompok, yaitu untuk bagian administrasi, bagian bendahara, dan dokter. Program aplikasi komputer ini dapat digunakan untuk aktivitas pendaftaran pasien, pendaftaran rawat jalan, pendataan karyawan, pencatatan diagnosis dokter, pencatatan penerimaan, retur dan pencatatan persediaan obat-obatan, aktivitas penagihan pasien, pembayaran, pencatatan akuntansi beserta penyusunan laporan keuangan berupa laporan neraca, laporan laba rugi, laporan arus kas, buku besar untuk tiap akun. Setelah program aplikasi ini rampung, tim pengabdi mengadakan pelatihan bagi para pengguna di Klinik Pratama Pandu. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat membantu mitra dalam memudahkan pencatatan akuntansi dan data-data secara terkomputerisasi terkait kegiatan operasional sehari-hari dari Klinik Pratama Pandu. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat preferensi mahasiswa-pekerja area Tangerang Raya dalam menentukan 3 lokapasar (marketplace), yaitu: Lazada, Shopee dan Tokopedia, yang dinilainya lebih baik. Tinjauan literatur pada penelitian ini bersumber dari Svobodová dan Rajchlová (2020) tentang identifikasi perilaku pembelian secara daring (online shopping) yang terdiri atas 13 komponen yaitu: ulasan dan keluhan, sertifikasi dan keamanan, iklan dan komunikasi, harga produk, situs web (website), faktor organisasi, deskripsi produk, metode pembayaran, jaringan toko, transportasi, dan diskon. Ini merupakan sebuah penelitian survei deskriptif yang menggunakan 55 mahasiswa-pekerja sebagai responden dalam menjawab kuesioner yang diajukan oleh peneliti. Persentase sederhana digunakan untuk analisis data. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tokopedia memiliki rata-rata penilaian jawaban responden yang tertinggi. Sehingga dapat diasumsikan bahwa Tokopedia lebih unggul dalam memenuhi 13 komponen untuk mengidentifikasi perilaku pembelian secara daring. Selain itu, terungkap juga bahwa komponen ulasan dan keluhan serta transportasi menjadi prioritas bagi konsumen dalam melakukan pembelian secara daring.

Background One-third of primary care providers (PCPs) refer patients with fibromyalgia or chronic pain (FM/CP) to specialist care, typically rheumatology. Yet, comprehensive data on the quality of rheumatology care for patients with FM/CP are currently lacking.Methods Records of patients referred for rheumatology consultation for FM/CP and seen at a single academic centre between 2017 and 2018 were extracted by retrospective chart review. Variables were diagnostic accuracy (at referral vs consultation), resource utilisation (investigations, medications, medical and allied health referral), direct costs (physician billing, staff salary, investigation fees) and access (consult wait time). Patient experience and referring PCP experience surveys were administered.Results 79 charts were identified. Following consultation, 81% of patients (n=64) maintained the same diagnosis of FM/CP, 19% (n=15) were diagnosed with regional pain and 0% of patients (n=0) were diagnosed with an inflammatory arthritis or connective tissue disease. Investigations were ordered for 37% of patients (n=29), medication prescribed for 10% (n=8) and an allied health referral provided for 54% (n=43). Direct costs totalled $19 745 (average $250/consult; range $157–$968/consult). Consultation wait time averaged 184 days (range 62–228 days). Out of the seven (64%) responses to the patient experience survey, 86% of patients (n=6) were satisfied with provider communication but the consultation ‘definitely’ met the expectations of only 57% (n=4). The PCP survey returned an insufficient response rate.Conclusions This study found that no patient referred to rheumatology care for FM/CP was diagnosed with an inflammatory arthritis or connective tissue disease. Furthermore, patients with FM/CP experience lengthy wait times for rheumatology care which delay their management of chronic pain. Interdisciplinary and collaborative healthcare models can potentially provide higher quality care for patients with FM/CP.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the management of Lawn Bowls Indonesia's national team. This research is a qualitative and descriptive study. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and document analysis. The data validity technique uses two triangulation techniques, namely data triangulation and method triangulation. Data analysis was carried out in four stages namely: data collection stage, data reduction stage, data presentation stage, conclusion drawing stage. The results showed that the management role of Lawn Bowls was already good. This has been proven in the application of the four main functions in management including Planning, Organizing, Directing, Controlling. The condition of the infrastructure owned by Lanw Bowls Indonesia is good even though the field does not meet the standards. Lawn Bowls Indonesia coaches have done a good job as a trainer. Lawn Bowls Indonesia coaches also prioritize discipline towards athletes or players. Aside from being a motivator for athletes to always be diligent in practicing, maintaining body condition and stamina as well as the drive to continue to excel. The source of coaching funds is still supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports through the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC). The nutrition law for Indonesian bowls has been fulfilled. This is because the athlete's diet has been prepared and controlled directly by Lawn Bowls Indonesia's management. Meeting energy needs through carbohydrate consumption, through protein consumption and through fat consumption. Lawn Bowls Indonesia's Achievements In the event, the Lawn Bowls sports branch won 15 medals consisting of 5 gold, 4 silver, 6 bronze. South Africa is faced with a serious issue of unidentified human remains. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of anthropological analysis on local death investigations and case resolution for the busiest medico-legal laboratory within Cape Town, South Africa. Cases referred to the Forensic Anthropology Cape Town (FACT) laboratory between 2008–2018 from Salt River Mortuary were used. This study highlights the contribution forensic anthropological analyses provides to death investigation in Cape Town. Despite the challenges forensic anthropology faces in South Africa, it is helping with social and criminal justice through research, case resolution and scarce skill development. ABSTRAKS Hasil uji hipotesis yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil bahwa variabel-variabel bebas dividend payout ratio, return on equity, earning growth dan financial leverage secara bersama-sama maupun secara parsial mampu menjelaskan pengaruhnya terhadap price earning ratio dengan R 2 sebesar 57,9%. Sedangkan sisanya 42,1% dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain, misalnya kebijakan pemerintah, tingkat pertumbuhan penjualan, pertumbuhan laba ataupun tingkat bunga. Dengan uji parsial antara variabel-variabel bebas dengan variabel tergantung diperoleh sumbangan R2 yang terbesar pada variabel financial leverage. Hal ini disebabkan karena selama krisis perusahaan lebih tinggi tingkat leveragenya. Dalam pengujian kewajaran harga saham diperoleh hasil bahwa harga saham lebih bersifat undervalued daripada bersifat wajar. ABSTRACT Results of hypothesis test shows that independent variables, such as dividend payout ratio, return on equity, earning growth, and financial leverage, collectively and partially able to explain the effect to price earning ratio, by R2 as much as 57,9 %. The rest of 42,1% come from other factors, including government policies, level of sales development, profit growth or interests rate. F test has been defined, it is then said as significant and, therefore, first hypothesis is proved. Result of partial test on independent and dependent variables indicates that the highest R2 is resulted from financial leverage variable. This is because condition that during crisis, companies get higher leverage.In fittingness test the companies’ shares tend to be undervalued.

Traffic congestion in Asian megacities has become extremely worse, and any means to lessen the congestion level is urgently needed. Building an efficient mass transportation system is clearly necessary. However, implementing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have also been demonstrated effective in various advanced countries. Recently, the floating vehicle technique (FVT), an ITS implementation, has become cost effective to provide real-time traffic information with proliferation of the smartphones. Although many publications have discussed various issues related to the technique, none of them elaborates the discrepancy of a single floating car data (FCD) and the associated fleet data. This work addresses the issue based on an analysis of Sugiyama et al's experimental data. The results indicate that there is an optimum averaging time interval such that the estimated velocity by the FVT reasonably representing the traffic velocity.

Visual sensing of humidity and temperature by solids plays an important role in the everyday life and in industrial processes. Due to their hydrophobic nature, most covalent organic framework (COF) sensors often exhibit poor optical response when exposed to moisture. To overcome this challenge, the optical response is set out to improve, to moisture by incorporating H-bonding ionic functionalities into the COF network. A highly sensitive COF, consisting of guanidinium and diformylpyridine linkers (TG-DFP), capable of detecting changes in temperature and moisture content is fabricated. The hydrophilic nature of the framework enables enhanced water uptake, allowing the trapped water molecules to form a large number of hydrogen bonds. Despite the presence of non-emissive building blocks, the H-bonds restrict internal bond rotation within the COF, leading to reversible fluorescence and solid-state optical hydrochromism in response to relative humidity and temperature., (© 2024 Wiley‐VCH GmbH.)

2-Thienylbenzimidazole (TBI)/cucurbit[7]uril (CB7) host-guest complex was used as a motif to significantly improve the turnover of γ-Fe 3 O 4 magnetic nanoparticles for potential application in the separation of toxic mercuric ions in polluted water samples. The mechanism of restoring the original solid materials is based on applying the pH-controlled preferential binding of the CB7 host to the TBI guest. The analytical application of this concept has not been realized in the literature. The pH-controlled stimuli-responsive abilities were confirmed in aqueous solution by the three-order of magnitudes higher stability constant of the protonated TBIH + /CB7 complex (e.g., K = 4.8 × 10 8  M -1 ) when compared to neutral TBI/CB7 complex (e.g., K = 2.4 × 10 5  M -1 ), also manifested in an increase in pK a values by ~ 3.3 units in the ground state. The supramolecular interaction and adsorption on iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs) were also spectroscopically confirmed in the solid state. The excited-state lifetime values of TBI/CB7NPs increased upon lowering the pH values (e.g., from 0.6 to 1.3 ns) with a concomitant blue shift of ~ 25 nm because of polarity effects. The time-resolved photoluminescent behaviors of the final solids in the presence of CB7 ensured pH-driven reusable systems for capturing toxic mercuric ions. Controlling the number of molecular switches and their relative positioning within porous materials is critical to their functionality and properties. The proximity of many molecular switches to one another can hinder or completely suppress their response. Herein, a synthetic strategy involving mixed linkers is used to control the distribution of spiropyran-functionalized linkers in a covalent organic framework (COF). The COF contains a spiropyran in each pore which exhibits excellent reversible photoswitching behavior to its merocyanine form in the solid state in response to UV/Vis light. The spiro-COF possesses an urchin-shaped morphology and exhibits a morphological transition to 2D nanosheets and vesicles in solution upon UV light irradiation. The merocyanine-equipped COFs are extremely stable and possess a more ordered structure with enhanced photoluminescence. This approach to modulating structural isomerization in the solid state is used to develop inkless printing media, while the photomediated polarity change is used for water harvesting applications., (© 2023. Wastewater surveillance (WWS) has been globally recognised to be a useful tool in quantifying SARS-CoV-2 RNA at the community and residential levels without biases associated with case-reporting. The emergence of variants of concern (VOCs) have given rise to an unprecedented number of infections even though populations are increasingly vaccinated. This is because VOCs have been reported to possess higher transmissibility and can evade host immune responses. The B.1.1.529 lineage (Omicron) has severely disrupted global plans to return to normalcy. In this study, we developed an allele-specific (AS) RT-qPCR assay which simultaneously targets the stretch of deletions and mutations in the spike protein from position 24-27 for quantitative detection of Omicron BA.2. Together with previous assays that detect mutations associated with Omicron BA.1 (deletion at position 69 and 70) and all Omicron (mutation at position 493 and 498), we report the validation and time series of these assays from September 2021 to May 2022 using influent samples from two wastewater treatment plants and across four University campus sites in Singapore. Viral RNA concentrations at the treatment plants corroborate with locally reported clinical cases, AS RT-qPCR assays revealed co-incidence of Omicron BA.1 and BA.2 on 12 January 2022, almost two months after initial BA.1 detection in South Africa and Botswana. BA.2 became the dominant variant by the end of January 2022 and completely displaced BA.1 by mid-March 2022. University campus sites were similarly positive for BA.1 and/or BA.2 in the same week as first detection at the treatment plants, where BA.2 became rapidly established as the dominant lineage within three weeks. These results corroborate clinical incidence of the Omicron lineages in Singapore and indicate minimal silent circulation prior to January 2022. SARS-CoV-2 wastewater-based surveillance (WBS) offers a tool for cost-effective oversight of a population's infections. In the past two years, WBS has proven to be crucial for managing the pandemic across different geographical regions. However, the changing context of the pandemic due to high levels of COVID-19 vaccination warrants a closer examination of its implication towards SARS-CoV-2 WBS. Two main questions were raised: 1) Does vaccination cause shedding of viral signatures without infection? 2) Does vaccination affect the relationship between wastewater and clinical data? To answer, we review historical reports of shedding from viral vaccines in use prior to the COVID-19 pandemic including for polio, rotavirus, influenza and measles infection and provide a perspective on the implications of different COVID-19 vaccination strategies with regard to the potential shedding of viral signatures into the sewershed. Additionally, we reviewed studies that looked into the relationship between wastewater and clinical data and how vaccination campaigns could have affected the relationship. Finally, analyzing wastewater and clinical data from the Netherlands, we observed changes in the relationship concomitant with increasing vaccination coverage and switches in dominant variants of concern. First, that no vaccine-derived shedding is expected from the current commercial pipeline of COVID-19 vaccines that may confound interpretation of WBS data. Background: The ATP-Binding Cassette (ABC) transporter has long been studied to confer drug resistance in human tumors and play important role in metabolic processes and cellular signaling. The overexpression of ABCB1, ABCC1, ABCC2, ABCC3, and ABCG2 leads to decreased sensitivity of lung cancer to cisplatin. At the transcription level, the expression of ABC transporters is highly regulated and requires the complex interplay of factors involved in differentiation and development, cell survival and apoptosis upon intrinsic and environmental stress. The p53 regulation of drug-resistance genes is also complex yet not well understood. Previously, we demonstrated the synergistic interaction between bixin or fucoxanthin with cisplatin in A549 lung cancer cells., Objectives: Current study aims to identify whether carotenoids enhancing therapeutic effect of Cisplatin due to the ability to reverse drug resistance associated proteins, such as ABC transporter and regulating the tumor suppressor corresponding gene, p53., Methods: Real-Time Quantitative-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR) was performed to estimate the expression level of ABCC1 and ABCC2, and p53 of A549 cell lines in response to carotenoids alone and in combination with cisplatin., Results and Conclusion: The administration of bixin or fucoxanthin decreases the expression of ABCC1 and ABCC2. Despite the enormous environmental damage caused by plastic waste, it makes up over one-third of globally produced plastics. Polyethylene (PE) wastes have low recycling but high production rates. Towards the construction of ionic solar cells from PE, the present work describes the loading of a bioactive photoacid phycocyanobilin (PCB) dye from the pigment of Spirulina blue-green algae (as a natural resource) on low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic film. Dyeing was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Upon excitation of the Soret-band (400 nm), the photoluminescence (PL) spectra of PCB in neat solvents revealed two prominent emission peaks at 450-550 and 600-700 nm. The first band assigned to bilirubin-like (PCB BR ) species predominated the spectral profile in the highly rigid solvent glycerol and upon loading 0.45 % ( w / w ) of the dye on plastic. The photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra of PCB for the second region (Q-band) at 672 nm in the same solvents confirmed the ground state heterogenicity previously associated with the presence of PCB A (neutral), PCB B (cationic), and PCB C (anionic) conformers. Time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) measurements induced via excitation of all PCB species at 510 nm in methanol revealed three-lifetime components with τ 1 = ~0.1 ns and τ 2 = ~2 ns associated with PCB BR species and τ 3 = ~5 ns pertinent to the long-living photoproduct X*. Decay-associated spectra (DAS) analysis of the photoluminescence transient spectra of the final dyed films in the solid-state confirmed the improved generation of the long-living photoproduct as manifested in a significant increase in the PL intensity (~100-fold) and lifetime value (~90 ns) in the Q-region upon loading 6.92 % ( w / w ) of the dye on plastic. The photoproduct species were presumably assigned to the deprotonated PCB species, suggesting improved ionic mobility. The potential implementation of the PCB-sensitized PE solid wastes for the fabrication of ionic solar cells is discussed.
