Background and Purpose: Stroke is reported as a consequence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in several reports. However, data are sparse regarding the details of these patients in a multinational and large scale. Methods: We conducted a multinational observational study on features of consecutive acute ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, and cerebral venous or sinus thrombosis among SARS-CoV-2-infected patients. We further investigated the risk of large vessel occlusion, stroke severity as measured by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, and stroke subtype as measured by the TOAST (Trial of ORG 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment) criteria among patients with acute ischemic stroke. In addition, we explored the neuroimaging findings, features of patients who were asymptomatic for SARS-CoV-2 infection at stroke onset, and the impact of geographic regions and countries' health expenditure on outcomes. Results: Among the 136 tertiary centers of 32 countries who participated in this study, 71 centers from 17 countries had at least 1 eligible stroke patient. Of 432 patients included, 323 (74.8%) had acute ischemic stroke, 91 (21.1%) intracranial hemorrhage, and 18 (4.2%) cerebral venous or sinus thrombosis. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). COVID-19 is occasionally associated with manifold diseases of the central nervous system (CNS). We sought to present the neuroimaging features of such CNS involvement. In addition, we sought to identify typical neuroimaging patterns that could indicate possible COVID-19-associated neurological manifestations. METHODS: In this systematic literature review, typical neuroimaging features of cerebrovascular diseases and inflammatory processes associated with COVID-19 were analyzed. Reports presenting individual patient data were included in further quantitative analysis with descriptive statistics. RESULTS: We identified 115 studies reporting a total of 954 COVID-19 patients with associated neurological manifestations and neuroimaging alterations. A total of 95 (82.6%) of the identified studies were single case reports or case series, whereas 660 (69.2%) of the reported cases included individual information and were thus included in descriptive statistical analysis. Ischemia with neuroimaging patterns of large vessel occlusion event was revealed in 59.9% of ischemic stroke patients, whereas 69.2% of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage exhibited bleeding in a location that was not associated with hypertension. Callosal and/or juxtacortical location was identified in 58.7% of cerebral microbleed positive images. Features of hemorrhagic necrotizing encephalitis were detected in 28.8% of patients with meningo-/encephalitis. CONCLUSIONS: Manifold CNS involvement is increasingly reported in COVID-19 patients. Typical and atypical neuroimaging features have been observed in some disease entities, so that familiarity with these imaging patterns appears reasonable and may assist clinicians in the differential diagnosis of COVID-19 CNS manifestations. © 2021 The Authors. Introduction One uncommon complication of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is an infarct in a new previously unaffected territory (infarct in new territory (INT)). Objective To evaluate the predictors of INT with special focus on intravenous thrombolysis(IVT)pretreatmentbefore MT. Methods Consecutive patients with emergent large vessel occlusion (ELVO) treated with MT during a 5-year period were evaluated. INT was defined using standardized methodology proposed by ESCAPE investigators. The predictors of INT and its impact on outcomes were investigated. Results A total of 419 consecutive patients with ELVO received MT (mean age 64±15 years, 50% men, median baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score 16 points (IQR 11-20), 69% pretreated with IVT). The incidence of INT was lower in patients treated with combination therapy (IVTandMT) than in patients treated with MT alone, respectively (10% vs 20%; p=0.011). Background: We evaluated computed tomography head (CTH) imaging obtained prior to targeted temperature management (TTM) in patients after cardiac arrest, and its role in prognostication. Methods: In this retrospective cohort study in a tertiary-care hospital, 341 adults presenting with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest received a CTH prior to TTM. Associations between outcomes and neuroimaging variables were evaluated with Chi-square analysis for significant associations that yielded a composite neuroimaging score—Tennessee Early Neuroimaging Score (TENS). Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analysis including TENS as an independent variable and the four outcome dependent variables were analyzed. Results: Four of the neuroimaging variables—sulcal effacement, partial gray-white matter effacement, total gray-white matter effacement, deep nuclei effacement—had significant associations with each of the four outcome variables and yielded TENS. In multivariable logistic regression models adjusted for potential confounders, TENS was associated with poor discharge CPC (OR 2.15, 95%CI 1.16–3.98, p = .015), poor disposition (OR 2.62, 95%CI 1.37–5.02, p = .004), in-hospital mortality (OR 1.99, 95%CI 1.09–3.62, p = .024), and ICU mortality (OR 1.89, 95%CI 1.12–3.20, p = .018). Conclusion: Imaging prior to TTM may help identify post-cardiac arrest patients with severe anoxic brain injury and poor outcomes. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

BACKGROUND: Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is the current standard of care for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with emergent large-vessel occlusions (ELVO). Successful reperfusion of ELVOis traditionally defined by modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (mTICI) grades of 2b or 3. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the comparative safety and efficacy ofmTICI 2b andmTICI 3 reperfusion in AIS patients treated with MT. METHODS: Consecutive ELVO patients who underwent MT at 6 high-volume centers were included in this analysis. Standard safety (3-mo mortality, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage [sICH]) and efficacy (absolute and relative reduction in NIHSS-scores during hospitalization, functional-improvement [shift analysis in mRS-scores], and functional-independence [mRS-scores of 0-2] at 3-mo) were compared between patients who had mTICI 2b and mTICI 3 reperfusion post MT. RESULTS: A total of 416 ELVO patients achieved successful reperfusion with mTICI 2b (n = 216) and mTICI 3 (n = 200) following MT. The mTICI 3 group had significantly (P < .05) greater absolute (11 vs 9 points) and relative (77% vs 63%) reduction in NIHSS-scores during hospitalization, lower sICH (6% vs 12%), and higher 3-mo functional-independence (55% vs 44%) rates. Successful reperfusion with mTICI 3 was independently (P < .05) associated with greater absolute and relative reduction in NIHSS-scores during hospitalization as well as higher odds of 3-mo functional improvement (commonodds ratios: 1.67;95%confidence interval: 1.10-2.56) and functional independence (odds ratio: 2.08; 95% confidence interval: 1.22-3.53) in multivariable regression models adjusting for confounders. CONCLUSION: Successful reperfusion with mTICI 3 was associated with greater neurological improvement during hospitalization and better 3-mo functional outcomes in comparison to mTICI 2b reperfusion. © 2018 by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Background We conducted a case-control study to assess the relative safety and efficacy of minimally invasive endoscopic surgery (MIS) for clot evacuation in patients with basal-ganglia intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Methods We evaluated consecutive patients with acute basal-ganglia ICH at a single center over a 42-month period. Patients received either best medical management according to established guidelines (controls) or MIS (cases). The following outcomes were compared before and after propensity-score matching (PSM): in-hospital mortality; discharge National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score; discharge disposition; and modified Rankin Scale scores at discharge and at 3 months. Results Among 224 ICH patients, 19 (8.5%) underwent MIS (mean age, 50.9±10.9; 26.3% female, median ICH volume, 40 (IQR, 25-51)). The interventional cohort was younger with higher ICH volume and stroke severity compared with the medically managed cohort. After PSM, 18 MIS patients were matched to 54 medically managed individuals. The two cohorts did not differ in any of the baseline characteristics. Background: Various randomized-controlled clinical trials (RCTs) have investigated the neuroprotective role of minocycline in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) or acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) patients. We sought to consolidate and investigate the efficacy and safety of minocycline in patients with acute stroke. Methods: Literature search spanned through November 30, 2017 across major databases to identify all RCTs that reported following efficacy outcomes among acute stroke patients treated with minocycline vs. placebo: National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Barthel Index (BI), and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores. Additional safety, neuroimaging and biochemical endpoints were extracted. We pooled mean differences (MD) and risk ratios (RR) from RCTs using random-effects models. Results: We identified 7 RCTs comprising a total of 426 patients. Of these, additional unpublished data was obtained on contacting corresponding authors of 5 RCTs. In pooled analysis, minocycline demonstrated a favorable trend towards 3-month functional independence (mRS-scores of 0–2) (RR = 1.31; 95% CI 0.98–1.74, p = 0.06) and 3-month BI (MD = 6.92; 95% CI − 0.92, 14.75; p = 0.08). In AIS subgroup, minocycline was associated with higher rates of 3-month mRS-scores of 0–2 (RR = 1.59; 95% CI 1.19–2.12, p = 0.002; I2 = 58%) and 3-month BI (MD = 12.37; 95% CI 5.60, 19.14, p = 0.0003; I2 = 47%), whereas reduced the 3-month NIHSS (MD − 2.84; 95% CI − 5.55, − 0.13; p = 0.04; I2 = 86%). Minocycline administration was not associated with an increased risk of mortality, recurrent stroke, myocardial infarction and hemorrhagic conversion. Conclusions: Although data is limited, minocycline demonstrated efficacy and seems a promising neuroprotective agent in acute stroke patients, especially in AIS subgroup. Background and Purpose-The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) at admission with safety and efficacy outcomes in acute stroke patients with large vessel occlusion after mechanical thrombectomy. Methods-Consecutive large vessel occlusion patients treated with mechanical thrombectomy during a 4-year period were evaluated. Background and purpose Higher admission serum glucose levels have been associated with poor outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) treated with IV thrombolysis. We sought to evaluate the association of admission serum glucose with early outcomes of patients with emergent large vessel occlusion (ELVO) treated with mechanical thrombectomy (MT). Methods Consecutive AIS patients due to ELVO treated with MT in three tertiary stroke centers were evaluated. The following outcomes were documented using standard definitions: symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), complete reperfusion, mortality, functional independence (modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 0-2), and functional improvement (shift in mRS score) at 3 €months. The association of admission serum glucose and admission hyperglycemia (>140 €mg/dL) with outcomes was evaluated using univariable and multivariable binary and ordinal logistic regression models. Results 231 AIS patients with ELVO (mean age 62±14 €years, 51% men, median admission National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score 16 points (IQR 12-21), median admission serum glucose 125 €mg/dL (IQR 104-162)) were treated with MT. Admission hyperglycemia was associated with a lower likelihood of functional improvement (common OR 0.53; 95% CI 0.31 to 0.97; p=0.027) and higher odds of 3 month mortality (OR 2.76; 95% CI 1.40 to 5.44; p=0.004) in multivariable analyses adjusting for potential confounders. A 10 €mg/dL increase in admission blood glucose was associated with a higher likelihood of sICH (OR 1.07; 95% CI 1.01 to 1.13; p=0.033) and 3 month mortality (OR 1.07; 95% CI 1.02 to 1.12; p=0.004) in multivariable models. There was no association between admission serum glucose or hyperglycemia and complete reperfusion. Background and purpose: To determine the association of differential leukocyte counts on admission with efficacy and safety outcomes in patients with acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) treated with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT). Methods: Consecutive patients with AIS receiving IVT were evaluated at two stroke centers. Differential leukocyte counts and neutrophil:lymphocyte ratio (NLR) were determined during the initial 12 h of admission. Efficacy outcomes were favorable functional outcome (FFO) (modified Rankin Scale scores of 0–1) and functional independence (FI) (modified Rankin Scale scores of 0–2) at 3 months, whereas safety outcomes were symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage and 3-month mortality. Results: Among 657 IVT-treated patients with AIS, the mean age was 64 ± 14 years, 50% were female and median National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score was 7 points (interquartile range, 4–13). Lower neutrophil and leukocyte counts and NLR counts were observed in patients with 3-month FFO and FI, whereas higher counts were observed in patients who died at 3 months. Background and aims The relationship between lipoprotein levels, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and clinical outcome after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) remains controversial. We sought to evaluate the association of lipoprotein cholesterol levels and statin dosage with clinical and neuroimaging outcomes in patients with ICH. Methods Data on consecutive patients hospitalized with spontaneous acute ICH was prospectively collected over a 5-year period and retrospectively analyzed. Demographic characteristics, clinical severity documented by NIHSS-score and ICH-score, neuroimaging parameters, pre-hospital statin use and doses, and LDL-C and HDL-C levels were recorded. Outcome events characterized were hematoma volume, hematoma expansion, in-hospital functional outcome, and in-hospital mortality. Results A total of 672 patients with acute ICH [(mean age 61.6 ± 14.0 years, 43.6% women, median ICH score 1 (IQR: 0–2)] were evaluated. Statin pretreatment was not associated with neuroimaging or clinical outcomes. Higher LDL-C levels were associated with several markers of poor clinical outcome and in-hospital mortality. LDL-C levels were independently and negatively associated with the cubed root of hematoma volume (linear regression coefficient −0.021, 95% CI: −0.042−-0.001; p = 0.049) on multiple linear regression models. Higher admission LDL-C (OR 0.88, 95% CI 0.77–0.99; p = 0.048) was also an independent predictor for decreased hematoma expansion. Higher admission LDL-C levels were independently (p < 0.001) associated with lower likelihood of in-hospital mortality (OR per 10 mg/dL increase 0.68, 95% CI: 0.57–0.80) in multivariable logistic regression models. Conclusions Higher LDL-C levels at hospital admission were an independent predictor for lower likelihood of hematoma expansion and decreased in-hospital mortality in patients with acute spontaneous ICH. Objective: Whether intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) associated with non–vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOAC-ICH) has a better outcome compared to ICH associated with vitamin K antagonists (VKA-ICH) is uncertain. Methods: We performed a systematic review and individual patient data meta-analysis of cohort studies comparing clinical and radiological outcomes between NOAC-ICH and VKA-ICH patients. The primary outcome measure was 30-day all-cause mortality. All outcomes were assessed in multivariate regression analyses adjusted for age, sex, ICH location, and intraventricular hemorrhage extension. Results: We included 7 eligible studies comprising 219 NOAC-ICH and 831 VKA-ICH patients (mean age = 77 years, 52.5% females). The 30-day mortality was similar between NOAC-ICH and VKA-ICH (24.3% vs 26.5%; hazard ratio = 0.94, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.67–1.31). However, in multivariate analyses adjusting for potential confounders, NOAC-ICH was associated with lower admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score (linear regression coefficient = −2.83, 95% CI = −5.28 to −0.38), lower likelihood of severe stroke (NIHSS > 10 points) on admission (odds ratio [OR] = 0.50, 95% CI = 0.30–0.84), and smaller baseline hematoma volume (linear regression coefficient = −0.24, 95% CI = −0.47 to −0.16). The two groups did not differ in the likelihood of baseline hematoma volume < 30cm3 (OR = 1.14, 95% CI = 0.81–1.62), hematoma expansion (OR = 0.97, 95% CI = 0.63–1.48), in-hospital mortality (OR = 0.73, 95% CI = 0.49–1.11), functional status at discharge (common OR = 0.78, 95% CI = 0.57–1.07), or functional status at 3 months (common OR = 1.03, 95% CI = 0.75–1.43). Interpretation: Although functional outcome at discharge, 1 month, or 3 months was comparable after NOAC-ICH and VKA-ICH, patients with NOAC-ICH had smaller baseline hematoma volumes and less severe acute stroke syndromes. Background-—Magnesium (Mg) has potential hemostatic properties. We sought to investigate the potential association of serum Mg levels (at baseline and at 48 hours) with outcomes in patients with acute spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Methods and Results-—We reviewed data on all patients with spontaneous ICH with available Mg levels at baseline, over a 5-year period. Clinical and radiological outcome measures included initial hematoma volume, admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and ICH scores, in-hospital mortality, favorable functional outcome (modified Rankin Scale scores, 0–1), and functional independence (modified Rankin Scale scores, 0–2) at discharge. Our study population consisted of 299 patients with ICH (mean age, 61±13 years; mean admission serum Mg, 1.8±0.3 mg/dL). Increasing admission Mg levels strongly correlated with lower admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score (Spearman’s r, 0.141; P=0.015), lower ICH score (Spearman’s r, 0.153; P=0.009), and lower initial hematoma volume (Spearman’s r, 0.153; P=0.012). Higher admission Mg levels were documented in patients with favorable functional outcome (1.9±0.3 versus 1.8±0.3 mg/dL; P=0.025) and functional independence (1.9±0.3 versus 1.8±0.3 mg/dL; P=0.022) at discharge. No association between serum Mg levels at 48 hours and any of the outcome variables was detected. In multiple linear regression analyses, a 0.1-mg/dL increase in admission serum Mg was independently and negatively associated with the cubed root of hematoma volume at admission (regression coefficient, 0.020; 95% confidence interval, 0.040 to 0.000; P=0.049) and admission ICH score (regression coefficient, 0.053; 95% confidence interval, 0.102 to 0.005; P=0.032). Conclusions-—Higher admission Mg levels were independently related to lower admission hematoma volume and lower admission ICH score in patients with acute spontaneous ICH. © 2018 The Authors.

Background-—We sought to assess the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) and mortality associated with intensive systolic blood pressure reduction in acute intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods and Results-—Patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage had spontaneous cause and symptom onset within 24 hours. We excluded patients with structural causes, coagulopathy, thrombocytopenia, and preexisting end-stage renal disease. We defined AKI using the Acute Kidney Injury Network criteria. Chronic kidney disease status was included in risk stratification and was defined by Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative staging. Maximum systolic blood pressure reduction was defined over a 12-hour period and dichotomized using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Descriptive statistics were done using independent sample t tests, χ2tests, and Mann-Whitney U tests, whereas multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate for predictors for AKI and mortality. A total of 448 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage met inclusion criteria. Maximum systolic blood pressure reduction was dichotomized to 90 mm Hg and found to increase the risk of AKI in patients with normal renal function (odds ratio, 2.1; 95% confidence interval, 1.19–3.62; P=0.010) and chronic kidney disease (odds ratio, 3.91; 95% confidence interval, 1.26–12.15; P=0.019). The risk of AKI was not significantly different in normal renal function versus chronic kidney disease groups when adjusted for demographics, presentation characteristics, and medications associated with AKI. AKI positively predicted mortality for patients with normal renal function (odds ratio, 2.41; 95% confidence interval, 1.11–5.22; P=0.026) but not for patients with chronic kidney disease (odds ratio, 3.13; 95% confidence interval, 0.65–15.01; P=0.154). Conclusions-—These results indicate that intensive systolic blood pressure reduction with a threshold >90 mm Hg in patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage may be an independent predictor for AKI. © 2018 The Authors.

Objective Permissive hypertension may benefit patients with non-recanalized large vessel occlusion (nrLVO) post mechanical thrombectomy (MT) by maintaining brain perfusion. Data evaluating the impact of post-MT blood pressure (BP) levels on outcomes in nrLVO patients are scarce. We investigated the association of the post-MT BP course with safety and efficacy outcomes in nrLVO. Methods Hourly systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) values were prospectively recorded for 24 hours following MT in consecutive nrLVO patients. Maximum, minimum, and mean BP levels were documented. Three-month functional independence (FI) was defined as modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores of 0-2. Results A total of 88 nrLVO patients were evaluated post MT. Patients with FI had lower maximum SBP (160±19 mmHg vs 179±23 mmHg; P=0.001) and higher minimum SBP levels (119±12 mmHg vs 108±25 mmHg; P=0.008). Maximum SBP (183±20 mmHg vs 169±23 mmHg; P=0.008) and DBP levels (105±20 mmHg vs 89±18 mmHg; P=0.001) were higher in patients who died at 3 months while minimum SBP values were lower (102±28 mmHg vs 115±16 mmHg; P=0.007). On multivariable analyses, both maximum SBP (OR per 10 mmHg increase: 0.55, 95% CI 0.39 to 0.79; P=0.001) and minimum SBP (OR per 10 mmHg increase: 1.64, 95% CI 1.04 to 2.60; P=0.033) levels were independently associated with the odds of FI. Maximum DBP (OR per 10 mmHg increase: 1.61; 95% CI 1.10 to 2.36; P=0.014) and minimum SBP (OR per 10 mmHg increase: 0.65, 95% CI 0.47 to 0.90; P=0.009) values were independent predictors of 3-month mortality. OBJECTIVES Clinical outcome after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) remains poor. Definitive phase-3 trials in ICH have failed to demonstrate improved outcomes with intensive systolic blood pressure (SBP) lowering. We sought to determine whether other BP parameters-diastolic BP (DBP), pulse pressure (PP), and mean arterial pressure (MAP)-showed an association with clinical outcome in ICH. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed a prospective cohort of 672 patients with spontaneous ICH and documented demographic characteristics, stroke severity, and neuroimaging parameters. Consecutive hourly BP recordings allowed for computation of SBP, DBP, PP, and MAP. Threshold BP values that transitioned patients from survival to death were determined from ROC curves. Using in-hospital mortality as outcome, BP parameters were evaluated with multivariable logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Patients who died during hospitalization had higher mean PP compared to survivors (68.5 ± 16.4 mm Hg vs. 65.4 ± 12.4 mm Hg; P = 0.032). The following admission variables were associated with significantly higher in-hospital mortality (P < 0.001): Poorer admission clinical condition, intraventricular hemorrhage, and increased admission normalized hematoma volume. ROC analysis showed that mean PP dichotomized at 72.17 mm Hg, provided a transition point that maximized sensitivity and specific for mortality. The association of this increased dichotomized PP with higher in-hospital mortality was maintained in multivariable logistic regression analysis (odds ratio, 3.0; 95% confidence interval, 1.7-5.3; P < 0.001) adjusting for potential confounders. CONCLUSION Widened PP may be an independent predictor for higher mortality in ICH. This association requires further study. © American Journal of Hypertension, Ltd 2017.

Purpose Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is associated with poor clinical outcome and high mortality. Sulfonylurea (SFU) use may be a viable therapy for inhibiting sulfonylurea receptor-1 and NCCa-ATP channels and reducing perihematomal edema and blood-brain barrier disruption. We sought to evaluate the effects of prehospital SFU use with outcomes in diabetic patients with acute ICH. Methods We retrospectively analyzed a cohort of diabetic patients presenting with acute ICH at a tertiary care center. Study inclusion criteria included spontaneous ICH etiology and age > 18 years. Baseline clinical severity was documented using ICH-score. Hematoma volumes (HV) on admission were calculated using ABC/2 formula. Unfavorable functional outcome was documented as discharge modified Rankin Scale scores 2–6. Results 230 diabetic patients with acute ICH fulfilled inclusion criteria (mean age 64 ± 13 years, men 53%). SFU pretreatment was documented in 16% of the study population. Patients with SFU pretreatment had significantly (p < 0.05) lower median ICH-scores (0, IQR: 0–2) and median admission HV (4cm3, IQR: 1–12) compared to controls [ICH-score: 1 (IQR: 0–3); HV: 9cm3 (IQR: 3–20)]. SFU pretreatment was independently (p = 0.033) and negatively associated with the cubed root of admission HV (linear regression coefficient: − 0.208; 95%CI: − 0.398 to − 0.017) in multiple linear regression analyses adjusting for potential confounders. Pretreatment with SFU was also independently (p = 0.033) associated with lower likelihood of unfavorable functional outcome (OR = 0.19; 95%CI: 0.04–0.88) in multivariable logistic regression models adjusting for potential confounders. Conclusion SFU pretreatment may be an independent predictor for improved functional outcome in diabetic patients with acute ICH. This association requires independent confirmation in a large prospective cohort study. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.
