IntroductionAdvancements in exercise science have highlighted the importance of accurate muscular strength assessments for optimizing performance and preventing injuries.MethodsWe propose a novel approach to measuring muscular strength in young, healthy individuals using Bot Fit, a hip-joint exoskeleton, during resistance exercises. In this study, we introduced performance metrics to evaluate exercise performance during both short and extended durations of three resistance exercises: squats, knee-ups, and reverse lunges. These metrics, derived from the robot’s motor signals and sEMG data, include initial exercise speed, the number of repetitions, and muscle engagement. We compared these metrics against baseline muscular strength, measured using standard fitness equipment such as one-repetition maximum (1RM) and isometric contraction tests, conducted with 30 participants aged 23 to 30 years.ResultsOur results revealed that initial exercise speed and the number of repetitions were significant predictors of baseline muscular strength. Using statistical multivariable analysis, we developed a highly accurate model (R=0.884, adj. R2=0.753, p-value 0.87) with strong explanatory power.ConclusionThis model, focusing on a single exercise (squat) and a key performance metric (initial speed), accurately represents the muscular strength of Bot Fit users across all three exercises. This study expands the application of hip-joint exoskeleton robots, enabling efficient estimation of lower limb muscle strength through resistance exercises with Bot Fit.

This paper proposes a method to reduce phantom shell effects that occur during the absorbed power density (APD) derivation using a negative permittivity material (NPM). In this study, APD is examined as a primary parameter to assess the effectiveness of the proposed method, especially following the introduction of APD above 6 GHz, in accordance with 2020 ICNIRP guidelines. As the frequency increases, the impact of the phantom shell can affect APD measurement results. To investigate this, a dipole antenna operating in the $6\sim 10$ GHz frequency range was used as the radiation source. Therefore, this study proposes a method to reduce effects by using NPM. The selection of the NPM is achieved through input impedance calculations method. Simulation results indicate that before applying the proposed method, the APD difference between the presence and absence of the phantom shell ranged from 20.6% at 6 GHz (W/ shell =100, W/o shell =82.9 W/m2) to 69.3% at 10 GHz (W/ shell=52.3, W/o shell=30.9 W/m2). After applying the method, these differences reduced to 6.9% at 6 GHz (proposed method=77.2, W/o shell=82.9 W/m2) and 13.5% at 10 GHz (proposed method=35.1, W/o shell=30.9 W/m2). This study is the first to highlight the impact of phantom shell effects on APD, revealing potential overestimations in the 6-10 GHz range and suggesting that these effects may worsen at higher frequencies. The proposed method effectively addresses these issues within current standards while providing insights for future standards development in higher frequency bands.

In this paper, a tunable multi-split transmitting (TX) coil for a wireless power transfer (WPT) system that accommodates a wide range of distances between the TX and receiving (RX) coils is proposed. This method enables the WPT system to maintain a stable and consistent output power supply to the load, regardless of variations in coupling coefficients caused by changes in the distance between the TX and RX coils. The tunable multi-split TX coil can operate in various modes depending on how the wire connections between each TX coil are configured. This approach adjusts the inductance value of the TX coil for different conditions, using the same amount of coil as a conventional single-loop TX coil. The results show that by adjusting the TX coil to three different modes as the airgap varies from 50 mm to 250 mm, consistent output power is achieved with smaller variations in the input current and voltage compared to those in a conventional system. A conventional system requires an input voltage increase of approximately 529.64%, while the proposed system requires only a 42.93% increase. The proposed system enhances the power transfer capacity of the WPT system, particularly when operating in an over-coupling state. This approach provides a stable output power supply with a standardized and simplified TX coil structure.

With advancements in the field of electrical engineering, various low-power portable electronic devices have been commercialized. To eliminate and unify different types of cables, inductive wireless power transfer (WPT) technology, which uses magnetic fields to transfer energy, is being applied in numerous applications. Low-power devices typically have small coils and loads, leading to low power transfer efficiency even over short distances. Magnetic materials such as ferrites are used to improve power transfer efficiency (PTE). It is well known that high-permeability ferrites with low magnetic reluctance are ideal for achieving strong magnetic coupling. However, continuous increases in permeability raise the cost and weight of the ferrite, making it necessary to select ferrites with appropriate permeability from a mass-production perspective. This paper models and analyzes the changes in mutual inductance and power transfer efficiency with varying ferrite permeabilities using magnetic circuits, providing guidelines for the selection of suitable ferrites considering efficiency improvements. The proposed method is validated through 3D electromagnetic simulations and experiments, showing a power transfer efficiency difference of up to 0.6% between the experimental and calculated results.

In the Bloch or Neel domain walls in ferromagnets, the magnetization rotates smoothly from up to down, preserving its magnitude. Here, Lee et al show that Co3Sn2S2 exhibits a phase transition within its domain walls to a state in which the magnetization passes through zero rather than rotating as the wall is traversed.

Abstract The authors present a classical polynomial‐time attack against the branching program obfuscator of Fernando–Rasmussen–Sahai (for short FRS, Asiacrypt’17) (with one zerotest parameter), which is robust against all known classical cryptanalyses on obfuscators when instantiated with the CLT13 multilinear map. The first step is to recover a plaintext modulus of the CLT13 multilinear map. To achieve the goal, the Coron and Notarnicola (Asiacrypt’19) algorithm is applied. However, because of parameter issues, the algorithm cannot be used directly. In order to detour the issue, the authors convert an FRS obfuscator into a new programme containing a small message space. Through the conversion, the authors obtain two zerotest parameters and encodings of zero except for two non‐zero slots. Then, they are used to mitigate parameter constraints of the message space recovering algorithm. Then, a cryptanalysis of the FRS obfuscation based on the recovered message space is proposed. The authors show that there exist two functionally equivalent programmes such that their obfuscated programmes are computationally distinguishable. Thus, the FRS scheme does not satisfy the desired security without any additional constraints.

Generally, tsunamis are generated by the rapid crustal movements of the ocean floor. Other factors of tsunami generation include landslides on coastal and ocean floor slopes, glacier collapses, and meteorite collisions. In this study, two numerical analyses were conducted to examine the formation, propagation, and deformation properties of landslide tsunamis. First, LS-DYNA was adopted to simulate the formation and propagation processes of tsunamis generated by dropping rigid bodies. The generated tsunamis had smaller wave heights and wider waveforms during their propagation, and their waveforms and flow velocities resembled those of theoretical solitary waves after a certain distance. Second, after the formation of the landslide tsunami, a tsunami based on the solitary wave approximation theory was generated in a numerical wave tank (NWT) with a computational domain that considered the stability/steady phase. The comparison of two numerical analysis results over a certain distance indicated that the waveform and flow velocity were approximately equal, and the maximum wave pressures acting on the upright wall also exhibited similar distributions. Therefore, an effective numerical model such as LS-DYNA was necessary to analyze the formation and initial deformations of the landslide tsunami, while an NWT with the wave generation method based on the solitary wave approximation theory was sufficient above a certain distance.

Missiles mounted on maritime vessels have two types of loads. One is the operating load consumed just before launch, and the other is the safety sensors load that must always be activated for safety. Because the operating load consumes a large power capacity, the power generated by the vessel’s own power generators must be supplied. Meanwhile, the loads for safety sensors are supplied through an energy storage system (ESS) because the safety sensors must be supplied with power even when the generators stop. However, the voltage difference between the generated power and the ESS power reaches ten times or more. Therefore, there is a problem in that the input of the two power sources with a large input difference must be transferred to two loads through only a pair of coils. To solve this problem, a WPT system is proposed to overcome the voltage difference between the generated power and the ESS power. The design method of the proposed system is analyzed mathematically, and it is verified through simulations and experiments. The proposed system has a maximum dc to dc power transfer efficiency of 76.8% with a capacity of 550 W and has the advantage that power is continuously supplied to the sensor loads even if the input voltage source is changed. In addition, by operating the proposed WPT system under a wide load range of 200 W to 1000 W, the effectiveness of the proposed WPT system is proved.

Bismuth organic frameworks can display interesting phosphorescent properties, but the relationship between structure and optical activity remains underexplored. Here two bismuth organic frameworks with differing bismuth coordination number and intermetallic distance are contrasted.

As the size of ships increases, the size and output power of their thrusters also increase. When a large ship berths or unberths, the jet flow produced from its thruster has an adverse effect on the stability of quay walls. In this study, we conducted a numerical analysis to examine the impact of the thruster jet flow of a 30,000 TEU container ship, which is expected to be built in the near future, on the stability of a quay wall. In the numerical simulation, we used the fluid–structure interaction analysis technique of LS-DYNA, which is calculated by the overlapping capability using an arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian formulation and Euler–Lagrange coupling algorithm with an explicit finite element method. As the ship approached the quay wall and the vertical position of the thruster approached the mound of the quay wall, the jet flow directly affected the foot-protection blocks and armor stones. The movement and separation of the foot-protection blocks and armor stones were confirmed in the area affected directly by the thruster jet flow of the container ship. Therefore, the thruster jet flows of ultra-large ships must be considered when planning and designing ports. In addition, the stability of existing port structures must be evaluated.

Abstract A simultaneous Diophantine approximation (SDA) algorithm takes instances of the partial approximate common divisor (PACD) problem as input and outputs a solution. While several encryption schemes have been published and their securities depend on the presumed hardness of variant of the PACD problem, fewer studies have attempted to extend the SDA algorithm to be applicable to these variants. In this study, the SDA algorithm is extended to solve the general PACD problem. In order to proceed, first the variants of the PACD problem are classified and how to extend the SDA algorithm for each is suggested. Technically, the authors show that a short vector of some lattice used in the SDA algorithm gives an algebraic relation between secret parameters. Then, all the secret parameters can be recovered by finding this short vector. It is also confirmed experimentally that this algorithm works well.

One promising technique for communicating at the nanoscale is molecular communication (MC). In a molecular-communication-via-diffusion-scenario, the memory component of the channel is very high. This gives rise to what is known as inter-symbol interference. Traditional channel coding schemes cannot be utilized in MC due to the high memory. In this paper, a novel low complexity channel coding method is proposed for the molecular communication domain. The design of the proposed channel code takes into account the capability of a nano-device and the characteristics of the molecular communication channel. Simulation results confirm that the proposed method provides a significant improvement in terms of bit error rate. Moreover, a proof-of-concept implementation of the proposed coding scheme is done on a macro-scale testbed. The reliability of the communication link is shown to be significantly increased.

In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the leakage magnetic field from wireless power transfer (WPT) systems with series–series compensation topology by adjusting the phase difference between the transmitter (TX) coil current and the receiver (RX) coil current without additional shielding coils or materials. A WPT system employing the proposed method adjusts the phase difference between the TX coil current and RX coil current by tuning a resonant capacitor of the RX coil. The conditions for minimizing the leakage magnetic field are derived, and the range of the resonant capacitor of RX, considering power transfer efficiency and the leakage magnetic field, is proposed. Through simulations and experiments, it is verified that the proposed method can reduce the leakage magnetic field level without any additional materials. For that reason, the proposed method can be suitable for size-limited, weight-limited or cost-limited WPT systems.

Currently, it is difficult to reach high momenta with narrow energy resolution via laser-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). Here, Sie et al. develop a time-resolved XUV based ARPES setup which can access the first Brillouin zone of all materials with narrow energy resolution.

In this paper, we present an experimentally validated end-to-end channel model for molecular communication systems with metal-oxide sensors. In particular, we focus on the recently developed tabletop molecular communication platform. Unlike previous work, this paper separates the system into two parts-the propagation and the sensing. Based on this separation, a more realistic channel model is derived. The coefficients in the derived models are estimated using a large collection of experimental data. It is shown how the coefficients change as a function of different system parameters such as distance, spraying duration, and an initial condition. Finally, a noise model is derived for the system to complete an end-to-end system model for the tabletop platform that can be utilized with various system variables. Using this new channel model, we propose a multi-level modulation technique that represents different symbols with different spraying durations while still providing more feasibility and less computational complexity in practice.

OBJECTIVE:The interrelation and clinical utility of the parameters for superior migration of the humeral head, such as the acromiohumeral interval (AHI), inferior glenohumeral distance (IGHD), and upward migration index (UMI), in the management of massive rotator cuff tears are not clear. The objectives of this study were to identify the relation between AHI, IGHD, and UMI when measured with radiography and MRI and to determine whether superior migration can predict the irreparability of massive rotator cuff tears. METHODS:We retrospectively reviewed the files of 64 consecutive patients who underwent arthroscopic partial or complete repair for massive rotator cuff tears at our institution between August 2015 and August 2018. We recorded both radiography and MRI measurements of AHI, IGHD, and UMI, and further the tangent sign, fatty infiltration of the rotator cuff muscles, and the Patte grade. We performed correlation assessments and multiple logistic regression analysis to identify potential predictors of the reparability of massive rotator cuff tears. RESULTS:Thirty-five patients had partially reparable and 29 had completely reparable tears. Parameters measured with either radiography or MRI were highly correlated with each other. The radiographic measurements showed a moderate or low correlation with the MRI measurements. All parameters of superior migration of the humeral head on radiography and MRI, the tangent sign, fatty infiltration of the infraspinatus muscle, and the Patte grade showed significant differences between patients with partially and completely repaired tears. Among these, the independent predictors for irreparability was Patte grade = 3. CONCLUSION:The AHI, IGHD, and UMI were highly correlated when measured with either radiography or MRI, but not when comparing their radiographic with their MRI values. Furthermore, they were not independent indicators of reparability in massive rotator cuff tears.

Indistinguishability Obfuscation (iO) is a hopeful tool which obfuscates a program with the least-possible leakage, and produces various applications including functional encryption and deniable encryption. Recently, Halevi et. al. proposed a state-of-the-art obfuscator implementation, called HHSS obfuscation, in ACM-CCS'17. In this paper, we describe a polynomial time distinguishing attack on HHSS obfuscation. In other words, we show that there exist two functionally equivalent branching programs but obfuscated programs are actually distinguishable. This attack implies that HHSS obfuscation fails to achieve a general purpose of iO security. The idea of the attack is quite simple; we multiply a left kernel vector of the branching program P to an evaluation of obfuscated matrix, which yields a small value when the program P is obfuscated. Our attack algorithm is also applicable even if evasive functions are obfuscated.

Visual homing navigation has been a challenging issue in indoor localization and navigation. Inspired by insect navigation, the snapshot model was introduced for homing navigation, where a pair of snapshots at the current location and at the nest are compared to guide the homing direction. We investigate Haar-like features in vision to extract visual cues, based on the snapshot model. The Haar-like features consist of masks randomly generated over the snapshot image at the home location, and later, their matching scores at the snapshot available at the current location are calculated for the correspondence measure. We draw landmark vectors using the correspondence measure of Haar-like features at their angular positions. Interestingly, a collection of Haar-like features provide visual characteristics to reflect a pair of snapshot images, which can determine the homing direction. In this paper, we propose two types of homing methods based on the image difference using Haar-like features, the Haar-like landmark vector model and the Haar-like image distance model. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the methods in several environments.

For local homing navigation, a mobile robot is supposed to return home using snapshots of the surrounding environment. It basically follows the snapshot model, comparing the home snapshot and the current view to determine the homing direction. In this paper, we suggest a high-order moment potential to describe the landmark feature distribution for local homing navigation. The moment potential function calculates the sum of products of the feature and the distance of landmark particles as a holistic view, allowing a high order of the distance. It effectively combines the range sensor values of landmarks in the current view and the visual features. By analogy with the moment in physics, the center of the moment is estimated as the reference point, which is the unique convergence point in the convex moment potential from any view, and using the property, the gradient of moment potential at the current position and home location can derive the homing vector. We provide a proof of convergence for any moment potential with order greater than or equal to one. Also, we demonstrate homing performances with various moment models in real environments to validate our models. The suggested moment models combining both landmark distance and visual feature have better performances than the visual information alone, and high-order moment potentials can be searched to obtain a better description of landmark distribution for a given environment.

In this paper, we propose a method of wirelessly torque transfer (WTT) and power (WPT) to a drug pump, one of implantable medical devices. By using the magnetic field generated by the WPT system to transfer torque and power to the receiving coil at the same time, applications that previously used power from the battery can be operated without a battery. The proposed method uses a receiving coil with magnetic material as a motor, and can generate torque in a desired direction using the magnetic field from the transmitting coil. The WPT system was analyzed using a topology that generates a constant current for stable torque generation. In addition, a method for detecting the position of the receiving coil without using additional power was proposed. Through simulations and experiments, it was confirmed that WTT and WPT were possible at the same time, and in particular, it was confirmed that WTT was stably possible.

This paper analyzes how over-coupled coils affect odd harmonic current and electromagnetic interference (EMI) in a wireless power transfer (WPT) system, and proposes design considerations for series inductors to solve the EMI problem. When the air gap of the coils of the WPT system decreases below a certain level and the coils are over-coupled, the odd harmonic component of the input impedance of the system decreases and odd harmonic currents increase. The increase in the odd harmonic components current quickly aggravates the EMI issues. To solve the EMI problem of the over-coupled WPT system, additional series inductors were applied to the system, and considerations for designing the series inductors were analyzed. When designing additional series inductors, power transfer efficiency, maximum power transfer, input impedance and odd harmonic components current must be considered. Using simulations and experiments, it was confirmed that the WPT system designed with analyzed considerations maintained relatively high efficiency and reduced EMI issues.

In this study, sol–gel-processed amorphous-phase ZrO _2 was used as an active channel material to improve the resistive switching properties of resistive random access memories (RRAMs). ITO/ZrO _2 /Ag RRAM devices exhibit the properties of bipolar RRAMs. The effect of the post-annealing temperature on the electrical properties of the ZrO _2 RRAM was investigated. Unlike the ZrO _2 films annealed at 400 and 500 °C, those annealed at 300 °C were in amorphous phase. The RRAM based on the amorphous-phase ZrO _2 exhibited an improved high-resistance state (HRS) to low-resistance state ratio (over 10 ^6 ) as well as promising retention and endurance characteristics without deterioration. Furthermore, its disordered nature, which causes efficient carrier scattering, resulted in low carrier mobility and the lowest leakage current, influencing the HRS values.

Here, Lee et al. report direct measurement of induced magnetism at the Bi2Se3-EnS interface, paving the way to understand emergent orders in topological material with broken time reversal symmetry.

Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry is experiencing declining production due to the depletion of existing oil and gas fields and aging production infrastructure. A multi-level organizational structure at Uzbekneftegaz is another reason for low efficiency of the industry, which causes the problems of increased bureaucracy, increased tax burden and inefficient allocation of resources. Partial privatization of Uzbekneftegaz can be an efficient tool in attracting alternative financing without putting the burden on the state budget and not ceding government control. Being listed on the international market, Uzbekneftegaz will have to follow internationally accepted corporate governance standards. This will have a positive impact on the efficiency and productivity of the industry

This study prognoses the remaining useful life of a turbofan engine using a deep learning model, which is essential for the health management of an engine. The proposed deep learning model affords a significantly improved accuracy by organizing networks with a one-dimensional convolutional neural network, long short-term memory, and bidirectional long short-term memory. In particular, this paper investigates two practical and crucial issues in applying the deep learning model for system prognosis. The first is the requirement of numerous sensors for different components, i.e., the curse of dimensionality. Second, the deep neural network cannot identify the problematic component of the turbofan engine due to its “black box” property. This study thus employs dimensionality reduction and Shapley additive explanation (SHAP) techniques. Dimensionality reduction in the model reduces the complexity and prevents overfitting, while maintaining high accuracy. SHAP analyzes and visualizes the black box to identify the sensors. The experimental results demonstrate the high accuracy and efficiency of the proposed model with dimensionality reduction and show that SHAP enhances the explainability in a conventional deep learning model for system prognosis.

The development of blue-emissive InP quantum dots (QDs) still lags behind that of the red and green QDs because of the difficulty in controlling the reactivity of the small InP core. In this study, the reaction kinetics of the ZnS shell was controlled by varying the length of the hydrocarbon chain in alkanethiols for the synthesis of the small InP core. The reactive alkanethiol with a short hydrocarbon chain forms the ZnS shell rapidly and prevents the growth of the InP core, thus reducing the emission wavelength. In addition, the length of the hydrocarbon chain in the fatty acid was varied to reduce the nucleation kinetics of the core. The fatty acid with a long hydrocarbon chain exhibited a long emission wavelength as a result of the rapid nucleation and growth, due to the insufficient In–P–Zn complex by the steric effect. Blue-emissive InP/GaP/ZnS QDs were synthesized with hexanethiol and lauryl acid, exhibiting a photoluminescence (PL) peak of 485 nm with a full width at half-maximum of 52 nm and a photoluminescence quantum yield of 45%. The all-solution processed quantum dot light-emitting diodes were fabricated by employing the aforementioned blue-emissive QDs as an emitting layer, and the resulting device exhibited a peak luminance of 1045 cd/m2, a current efficiency of 3.6 cd/A, and an external quantum efficiency of 1.0%.

This paper presents the broadband antenna for the microwave radiometric sensing of internal body temperature. For broadband operation, the bow-tie antenna was designed and backed with a cylindrical cavity, which decreased environmental electromagnetic interference and also improved the directivity of the antenna. The broadband impedance-transforming balun in microstrip form was also designed to feed the bow-tie antenna, and was located inside the cavity. An impedance-matching dielectric layer (IMDL) was introduced on top of the bow-tie antenna, for impedance match with the human body with high permittivity. The fabricated antenna was measured in free space with the IMDL removed, showing an input reflection coefficient lower than −10 dB from 2.64 to > 3.60 GHz with antenna gain over 6.0 dBi and radiation efficiency over 74.7% from 2.7 to 3.5 GHz. The IMDL was re-installed on the cavity-backed bow-tie antenna to measure the antenna performance for the human head with relative permittivity of about 40. The measured reflection coefficient was as low as −28.9 dB at 2.95 GHz and lower than −10 dB from 2.65 to > 3.5 GHz. It was also shown that the designed antenna recovered a good impedance match by adjusting the permittivity and thickness of the IMDL for the different parts of the human body with different permittivities.

The reactive acrylate-terminated CdZnSeS/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) were designed and prepared by the effective synthetic route to bond with a siloxane matrix via hydrosilylation. The conventional QD with oleic acid ligands does not have any reactivity, so the QDs were functionalized to assign reactivity for the QDs by the ligand modification of two step reactions. The oleic acid of the QDs was exchanged for hydroxyl-terminated ligands as an intermediate product by one-pot reaction. The hydroxyl-terminated QDs and acrylate-containing isocyanates were combined by nucleophilic addition reaction with forming urethane bonds and terminal acrylate groups. No degradation in quantum yield was observed after ligand exchange, nor following the nucleophilic addition reaction. The modification reactions of ligands were quantitatively controlled and their molecular structures were precisely confirmed by FT-IR and 1H-NMR. The QDs with acrylate ligands were then reacted with hydride-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (H-PDMS) to form a QD-siloxane matrix by thermal curing via hydro-silylation for the first time. The covalent bonding between the QDs and the siloxane matrix led to improvements in the stability against oxygen and moisture. Stability at 85 °C and 85% relative humidity (RH) were both improved by 22% for the QD-connected siloxane QD films compared with the corresponding values for conventional QD-embedded poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) films. The photo-stability of the QD film after 26 h under a blue light-emitting diode (LED) was also improved by 45% in comparison with those of conventional QD-embedded PMMA films.

[-10]For local homing navigation, an agent is supposed to return home based on the surrounding environmental information. According to the snapshot model, the home snapshot and the current view are compared to determine the homing direction. In this paper, we propose a novel homing navigation method using the moment model. The suggested moment model also follows the snapshot theory to compare the home snapshot and the current view, but the moment model defines a moment of landmark inertia as the sum of the product of the feature of the landmark particle with the square of its distance. The method thus uses range values of landmarks in the surrounding view and the visual features. The center of the moment can be estimated as the reference point, which is the unique convergence point in the moment potential from any view. The homing vector can easily be extracted from the centers of the moment measured at the current position and the home location. The method effectively guides homing direction in real environments, as well as in the simulation environment. In this paper, we take a holistic approach to use all pixels in the panoramic image as landmarks and use the RGB color intensity for the visual features in the moment model in which a set of three moment functions is encoded to determine the homing vector. We also tested visual homing or the moment model with only visual features, but the suggested moment model with both the visual feature and the landmark distance shows superior performance. We demonstrate homing performance with various methods classified by the status of the feature, the distance and the coordinate alignment.

A number of landmark-based navigation algorithms have been studied using feature extraction over the visual information. In this paper, we apply the distance information of the surrounding environment in a landmark navigation model. We mount a depth sensor on a mobile robot, in order to obtain omnidirectional distance information. The surrounding environment is represented as a circular form of landmark vectors, which forms a snapshot. The depth snapshots at the current position and the target position are compared to determine the homing direction, inspired by the snapshot model. Here, we suggest a holistic view of panoramic depth information for homing navigation where each sample point is taken as a landmark. The results are shown in a vector map of homing vectors. The performance of the suggested method is evaluated based on the angular errors and the homing success rate. Omnidirectional depth information about the surrounding environment can be a promising source of landmark homing navigation. We demonstrate the results that a holistic approach with omnidirectional depth information shows effective homing navigation.
