Abstract This study used the three-level EuroQol five-dimension questionnaire (EQ-5D-3L) to assess the quality of life (QOL) of Chinese Shidu parents (who have lost their only child) and conducted an in-depth investigation into the factors affecting their QOL using non-parametric tests and the Tobit regression model. A total of 651 Shidu parents were enrolled in this study. The questionnaire included a general information survey, the Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS-15), the Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), and the three-level EuroQol five-dimensional questionnaire (EQ-5D-3L). The results revealed that approximately 60% of Shidu parents reported no problems in all five dimensions. Pain and discomfort were the most frequently reported problems among Shidu parents, affecting 23.35% of participants. The Tobit regression model revealed that GDS-15 scores, marital status, education, and self-reported health status were significantly associated with EQ-5D scores. Additionally, SSRS scores, GDS-15 scores, and self-reported health status were significantly associated with EQ-VAS scores. Based on the study's findings, relevant recommendations were proposed.

Background Studies have shown an association between the triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index and carotid artery plaque (CAP). However, the relationship between the TyG index and plaque burden in individuals with primary hypertension remains uncertain. Our study specifically aimed to explore this relationship among primary hypertension patients.Methods This study involved 5,153 hospitalized patients diagnosed with primary hypertension who were undergoing treatment at the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine. We utilized multivariate logistic regression, penalized spline regression, and generalized additive models to assess the association between the TyG index and CAP burden.Results There were 2,400 patients with primary hypertension in all. The multivariate study, which took into account all covariables, showed a positive correlation between the TyG index and CAP (OR: 1.25, 95% CI: 1.04–1.5). When the TyG index was evaluated as quartiles, the risk of CAP in the Q3 and Q4 levels of the TyG index were 1.4 (95% CI: 1.03–1.91) and 1.54 (95% CI: 1.11–2.14) times greater than in the Q1 level after adjusting for all covariables (P for trend

BackgroundTo address the growing burden of older adult care, the Chinese government has introduced a policy that integrates medical care with elder care, launching two batches of national pilot projects. A majority of the older adult population suffers from one or more chronic diseases, with many experiencing multiple chronic conditions, necessitating support from both elder care and medical services.MethodsUsing panel data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) spanning 2011 to 2020, this study employs the difference-in-difference (DID) model to analyze the impact of the integrated medical-nursing policy on the physical health of older patients with chronic diseases.ResultsThe study found that the average annual number of hospitalizations for older individuals with one or more chronic diseases was 0.276. The integrated medical-nursing policy reduced hospitalizations by 0.0405. Additionally, the average annual hospitalization rate for older individuals with two or more chronic diseases was 0.339, higher than the former group. The integrated medical-nursing policy reduced hospitalizations by 0.0738 in this group.ConclusionThe pilot study demonstrates that the implementation of the integrated medical-nursing policy has significantly improved the physical health of older patients with chronic diseases. The government should promote these policies on a larger scale, explore various forms of integrated medical care, and provide more comprehensive medical and elder care services for older patients with chronic diseases.

The anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) is a promising technology for not only water reclamation but also virus removal; however, the virus removal efficiency of AnMBR has not been fully investigated. Additionally, the removal efficiency estimation requires datasets of virus concentration in influent and effluent, but its monitoring is not easy to perform for practical operation because the virus quantification process is generally time-consuming and requires specialized equipment and trained personnel. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to identify the key, monitorable variables in AnMBR and establish the data-driven models using the selected variables to predict virus removal efficiency. We monitored operational and environmental conditions of AnMBR in Sendai, Japan and measured virus concentration once a week for six months. Spearman's rank correlation analysis revealed that the pH values of influent and mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) were strongly correlated with the log reduction value of pepper mild mottle virus, indicating that electrostatic interactions played a dominant role in AnMBR virus removal. Among the candidate models, the random forest model using selected variables including influent and MLSS pH outperformed the others. This study has demonstrated the potential of AnMBR as a viable option for municipal wastewater reclamation with high microbial safety. Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal nitrides and carbides (MXenes), represented by Ti3C2Tx, have broad applications in flexible electronics, electromechanical devices, and structural membranes due to their unique physical and chemical properties. Despite the Young’s modulus of 2D Ti3C2Tx has been theoretically predicted to be 0.502 TPa, which has not been experimentally confirmed so far due to the measurement is extremely restricted. Here, by optimizing the sample preparation, cutting, and transfer protocols, we perform the direct in-situ tensile tests on monolayer Ti3C2Tx nanosheets using nanomechanical push-to-pull equipment under a scanning electron microscope. The effective Young’s modulus is 0.484 ± 0.013 TPa, which is much closer to the theoretical value of 0.502 TPa than the previously reported 0.33 TPa by the disputed nanoindentation method, and the measured elastic stiffness is ~948 N/m. Moreover, during the process of tensile loading, the monolayer Ti3C2Tx shows an average elastic strain of ~3.2% and a tensile strength as large as ~15.4 GPa. This work corrects the previous reports by nanoindentation method and demonstrates that the Ti3C2Tx indeed keeps immense potential for broad range of applications.

Abstract Developing in situ/operando spectroscopic techniques with high sensitivity and reproducibility is of great importance for mechanistic investigations of surface-mediated electrochemical reactions. Herein, we report the fabrication of highly ordered rhombic gold nanocube superlattices (GNSs) as substrates for surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy (SEIRAS) with significantly enhanced SEIRA effect, which can be controlled by manipulating the randomness of GNSs. Finite difference time domain simulations reveal that the electromagnetic effect accounts for the significantly improved spectroscopic vibrations on the GNSs. In situ SEIRAS results show that the vibrations of CO on the Cu2O surfaces have been enhanced by 2.4 ± 0.5 and 18.0 ± 1.3 times using GNSs as substrates compared to those on traditional chemically deposited gold films in acidic and neutral electrolytes, respectively. Combined with isotopic labeling experiments, the reaction mechanisms for C-C coupling of CO electroreduction on Cu-based catalysts are revealed using the GNSs substrates.

The study aimed to understand the main skills of older adult caregivers and find ways to improve these skills. We selected participants using a method called random cluster sampling, where caregivers from 17 different medical and nursing care facilities across seven districts in Hangzhou were chosen. We collected 492 valid questionnaires and conducted interviews with 150 people. To analyze the data, we used T-tests and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to identify what factors affect caregivers’ skills. Abstract Understanding the structure-stability relationship of catalysts is imperative for the development of high-performance electrocatalytic devices. Herein, we utilize operando attenuated total reflectance surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy (ATR-SEIRAS) to quantitatively monitor the evolution of Cu single-atom catalysts (SACs) during the electrochemical reduction of CO2 (CO2RR). Cu SACs are converted into 2-nm Cu nanoparticles through a reconstruction process during CO2RR. The evolution rate of Cu SACs is highly dependent on the substrates of the catalysts due to the coordination difference. Density functional theory calculations demonstrate that the stability of Cu SACs is highly dependent on their formation energy, which can be manipulated by controlling the affinity between Cu sites and substrates. This work highlights the use of operando ATR-SEIRAS to achieve mechanistic understanding of structure-stability relationship for long-term applications.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS), acting as essential mediators in the biological system, highly influence the physiologic and pathologic processes of the human body. The aberrant production of ROS, caused by various diseases, may lead to inflammation and cellular damages, as well as homeostasis disruption. In recent years, biomaterials sensitive to biological stimuli have received increasing attention due to their potential for achieving more specific diagnoses and effective treatments. Particularly, ROS-responsive biomaterials could be triggered by ROS in the damaged tissue microenvironment to release their payloads or exert a therapeutically beneficial effect, consequently regulating the elevated ROS level and downregulating the oxidative stress to promote tissue regeneration. In this review, we outline the underlying mechanisms of ROS generation in the tissue microenvironment of various diseases and summarize the cutting-edge advances in developing ROS-responsive biomaterials to expedite inflammation-related diseases, regenerative medicine and tissue engineering applications in various body systems. In particular, we pointed out the challenges and shortcomings that the current ROS-sensitive materials encounter, offer distinctive insights into the field and present solutions or improved strategies.

Abstract Background Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are considered to be a potential therapeutic tool for liver fibrosis. Inhibiting the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and protecting hepatocytes are important mechanisms for the anti-fibrotic effect of MSCs. However, how MSCs inhibit liver fibrosis by regulating the expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) has not been fully clarified. Methods Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)-activated HSCs LX-2 were single cultured or co-cultured with human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUC-MSCs). High-throughput sequencing was used to evaluate the differentially expressed microRNAs (DEMs) between the two groups. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), Western blot, and transfection experiments were used to investigate and screen the most significantly up-regulated DEM. Bioinformatics analysis was used to predict the target mRNAs and the potential functions of the DEM. The possible mechanism of HUC-MSCs against liver fibrosis was analyzed by co-culture experiment of HUC-MSCs with LX-2 cells, and HUC-MSCs treatment of Bile duct ligation (BDL)-induced liver fibrosis in mice. Finally, the mechanism of the DEM regulating liver fibrosis was confirmed in human liver fibrosis specimens. Results MicroRNA-148a-5p (miR-148a-5p) was the most significantly up-regulated DEM in activated LX-2 cells co-cultured with HUC-MSCs compared with LX-2 cells single cultured. Up-regulation of the expression of miR-148a-5p in activated LX-2 cells could significantly inhibit the expression of hepatic fibrosis markers α-SMA and Col1α1. Notch2 was one target gene of miR-148a-5p. Co-cultured with HUC-MSCs could inhibit the activation of LX-2 cells by inhibiting the expression of the Notch2 and the Notch signaling pathway. In addition, HUC-MSCs treatment could up-regulate the expression of miR-148a-5p in liver tissue and hepatocytes, promote the proliferation and avoid the apoptosis of hepatocytes, and reduce the degree of fibrosis by inhibiting expression of the Notch2 and the Notch signaling pathway in BDL-induced liver fibrosis mice. Moreover, miR-148a-5p was down-regulated and Notch2 was up-regulated in fibrotic human liver tissues compared with the normal livers. Conclusions HUC-MSCs treatment could inhibit HSCs activation, protect hepatocytes, and alleviate BDL-induced liver fibrosis in mice by up-regulating the expression of miR-148-5p and inhibiting the Notch signaling pathway. The down-regulation of miR-148-5p and up-regulation of Notch2 could be used as biomarkers to monitor the progression of liver fibrosis.

Objective: To examine the association between urbanization and psychological well-being (PWB) in China. Methods: Data were obtained from the 2015 China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) and included 3,071 men and 3,385 women aged 50 years or older who lived in 288 communities across 12 provinces and municipalities. The urbanization index, which summarizes 12 urbanization dimensions at community level, was categorized into tertiles representing low, medium, and high levels of urbanization. PWB was assessed by scoring three self-reported questions. Gender-stratified multilevel analyses were used to estimate the association between urbanization and PWB. Results: After controlling for individual-level factors, the urbanization index was associated positively with PWB. More specifically, an increase of one SD in the score of community population density, economic activity, housing, education, sanitation, or diversity was associated significantly with PWB in both genders. In addition, increases in the score of community communications, social services, transportation, or modern markets were associated significantly with PWB in women, but not in men. Conclusion: Urbanization has, on average, had an independent and positive effect on PWB in middle-aged and older Chinese populations, with many components of urbanization being separately and positively associated with PWB, especially in women.

We investigated the functional mechanism of long non-coding small nucleolar host gene 17 (SNHG17) in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). lncRNAs related to the prognosis of patients with DLBCL were screened to analyze long non-coding small nucleolar host gene 17 (SNHG17) expression in DLBCL and normal tissues, and a nomogram established for predicting DLBCL prognosis. SNHG17 expression in B-cell lymphoma cells was detected using qPCR. The effects of SNHG17 with/without doxorubicin on the proliferation and apoptosis of DoHH2 and Daudi were detected. The effects of combined SNHG17 and doxorubicin were analyzed. The regulatory function of SNHG17 in DLBCL was investigated using a mouse tumor xenotransplantation model. RNA sequencing was used to analyze the signaling pathways involved in SNHG17 knockdown in B-cell lymphoma cell lines. The target relationships among SNHG17, microRNA, and downstream mRNA biomolecules were detected. A higher SNHG17 level predicted a lower survival rate. SNHG17 was highly expressed in DLBCL patient tissues and cell lines. We established a prognostic model containing SNHG17 expression, which could effectively predict the overall survival rate of DLBCL patients. SNHG17 knockdown inhibited the proliferation and induced the apoptosis of B-cell lymphoma cells, and the combination of SNHG17 and doxorubicin had a synergistic effect. SNHG17, miR-34a-5p, and ZESTE gene enhancer homolog 2 (EZH2) had common hypothetical binding sites, and the luciferase reporter assay verified that miR-34a-5p was the direct target of SNHG17, and EZH2 was the direct target of miR-34a-5p. The carcinogenic function of SNHG17 in the proliferation and apoptosis of DLBCL cells was partially reversed by a miR-34a-5p inhibitor. SNHG17 increases EZH2 levels by inhibiting miR-34a-5p. Our findings indicate SNHG17 as critical for promoting DLBCL progression by regulating the EZH2 signaling pathway and sponging miR-34a-5p. These findings provide a new prognostic marker and therapeutic target for the prognosis and treatment of DLBCL.

ObjectiveTo investigate the gender-specific associations between exposure to urbanization and psychological stress in China experiencing rapid urbanization.MethodsData were obtained from the 2015 China Health and Nutrition Survey. A total of 4,388 men and 5,098 women aged at least 18 years were obtained from 288 communities across 12 provinces and municipalities. Tertiles of the urbanization index, summarizing 12 urbanization dimensions at the community level, were used to define low, medium, and high levels of urbanization. The psychological stress was measured based on the 10-item Perceived Stress Scale. The gender-stratified multilevel analysis (Level-1: Individuals, Level-2: Communities, and Level-3: provinces/municipalities) was used to estimate the association between exposure to urbanization and psychological stress.ResultsAfter controlling for age, education status, marital status, work status, household income per capita, current smoking, alcohol drinking, sleep duration, BMI, and chronic conditions, the urbanization index was negatively associated with psychological stress in women (Ptrend = 0.017) but not men (Ptrend = 0.476). More specifically, a one-standard deviation increase in the score of community population density (β = −0.329, P = 0.329), modern markets (β = −0.247, P = 0.044), education (β = −0.448, P = 0.002), and housing (β = −0.380, P = 0.005) was negatively associated with psychological stress only in women, separately.ConclusionOur data revealed that living in the most urbanized communities is associated with lower levels of psychological stress for women but not men. Thus, this study can help empower decision-makers to accurately target vulnerable communities and plan effective strategies to address psychological outcomes.

AimThis study aimed to assess the risk factors for depression among parents who have lost their only child (PLOCs).MethodsWe used a cross-sectional survey to reveal the risk factors of depression among PLOCs. Multi-stage, stratified, cluster sampling was used to recruit the participants. The cluster sampling method was used to select PLOCs in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and Wuhu, Anhui Province, while the stratified cluster sampling method was used in Anshun, Guizhou Province. A total of 651 PLOCs were recruited in this study. Participants completed the Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and the Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS-15). Socio-demographics were also collected, including age, sex, monthly income, education level, marital status, self-reported health, and a number of diseases were collected as well. Chi-square tests and binary logistic regression were conducted to analyze the influence of these factors on PLOCs' mental status.ResultsTwo hundred and fifty-eight PLOCs (39.56%) reported depression. Compared to PLOCs living in Wuhu, those living in Hangzhou (OR = 3.374, CI = 2.337–4.870) had a higher risk of depression. Being single (OR = 1.449, CI = 1.019–2.061) and the presence/absence of grandchildren (OR = 0.430, CI = 0.274–0.676)were significantly associated with the depression status of PLOCs.ConclusionThe sampled Chinese PLOCs reported a high prevalence of depression that was influenced by their place of residence, marital status, and presence/absence of grandchildren. This may highlight the need for routine assessment and help of this group by the relevant stakeholders (including government, non-profit social organizations, and professional psychologists) with more attention paid to single and low-income PLOCs that have no grandchildren. It is imperative to build a comprehensive care system of “extended family—community—society—government” for this vulnerable group.

Abstract Background In follicular lymphoma (FL), histologic transformation to high-grade FL and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a critical adverse step in disease progression. Activation of the oncogene c-MYC and tumor microenvironment remodeling account for FL progression. A panel of microRNA (miRNA) was downregulated in transformed FL (tFL). Methods Differentially expressed miRNAs were systematically compared in 11 lymph nodes from patients at different stages of disease. Expression of miR-7e-5p was analyzed in 46 B-cell lymphomas, including 30 FL tissues and 16 DLBCL tissues. In FL cells, transcriptional regulation of the oncogene c-MYC on its target miR-7e-5p was revealed by Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay. Exosome, carrying differentially expressed miR-7e-5p was isolated and visualized by transmission electron microscope and fluorescence tracing. The effect of miR-7e-5p on recipient macrophage was determined by target gene quantification, flow cytometry, and TUNEL method in a cocultured system with miR-7e-5p-mimics or inhibitors treatment. Expression of miR-7e-5p targets, macrophage proportions, and clinical parameters were included for correlation analysis. Results We determined that downregulation of miR-7e-5p, driven by c-MYC overexpression, was associated with poorer prognosis in FL patients. The decreased expression of miR-7e-5p in lymphoma cells led to a reduced exosomal transfer to surrounding macrophages. As a result, the target gene of miR-7e-5p, Fas ligand (FasL), was upregulated and activated the caspase signaling, which led to the apoptosis of M1 macrophages in tumor stroma. Finally, in transformed FL tissues, overexpression of FasL and activation of caspase proteins was detected in tumor stromal macrophages. Downregulation of miR-7e-5p was associated with poorer clinical outcomes. Conclusion Downregulation of exosomal miR-7e-5p induces stromal M1 macrophage apoptosis, which leads to immunosurveillance and transformation of FL.

This paper reveals and analyzes the frequency bifurcation phenomena in the fractional-order inductive power transfer (FOIPT) system with series-series compensation topology. Using fractional calculus theory and electric circuit theory, the circuit model of the series-series compensated FOIPT system is first proposed, then taking the case of a single variable fractional order as an example, three frequency analytical solutions of frequency bifurcation equation are solved by using Taylor expansion method. By analyzing the three bifurcation frequencies solved, it can be found that the frequency bifurcation phenomenon can be effectively eliminated by controlling the fractional order, and the boundary of critical distance and critical load is reduced, thereby expanding the working range of the conventional inductive power transfer (IPT) system. Furthermore, the output power and transfer efficiency at the three bifurcation frequencies are analyzed, it can be observed that the output power and transfer efficiency at the high bifurcation frequency and low bifurcation frequency are close and basically keep constant against the variation of transfer distance, and the output power is obviously higher than that at the intrinsic frequency. In addition, the output power at the three bifurcation frequencies can be significantly improved by adjusting the fractional order. Finally, the experimental prototype of FOIPT is built, and the experimental results verify the validity of theoretical analysis.

Abstract Purpose Psychological well-beings of left-behind children (LBC) in rural areas of China remain under-studied. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to explore the subjective well-being (SWB) in LBC and its associated factors in a rural area in eastern China. Methods Stratified random cluster sampling was used to select middle school and high school students in Qingyuan County of Zhejiang Province. Relevant information including sociodemographic characteristics was collected from each participant using an organized questionnaire. SWB was measured using the modified scale developed for Chinese adolescents. Univariable and multivariable regression analyses were performed using R version 3.3.0. Results A total of 1086 children were recruited and examined in the current analysis, with 365 (33.61%) being left-behind. Compared with non-left-behind children (NLBC), LBC had significantly lower scores in family satisfaction (P = 0.003) and environment satisfaction (P = 0.020). Background We conducted a matched case–control study in China during the 2013/14–2015/16 influenza seasons to estimate influenza vaccine effectiveness (VE) by dose among children aged 6 months to 8 years. Methods Cases were laboratory-confirmed influenza infections identified through the influenza-like illness sentinel surveillance network in Guangzhou. Age- and sex-matched community controls were randomly selected through the expanded immunization program database. We defined priming as receipt of ≥1 dose of influenza vaccine during the immediate prior season. Results In total, 4,185 case–control pairs were analyzed. Among children 6–35 months, VE for current season dose(s) across the three seasons during 2013/14–2015/16 were 59% (95% Confidence Interval: 44–71%), 12% (−11%,30%), 54% (32–69%); among unprimed children 6–35 months, VE for 1 vs 2 current season doses were 45% (8–67%) vs 65% (46–78%), −2% (−53%,32%) vs 19% (−11%,40%), and 37% (−24%,68%) vs 61% (32–78%). Among children aged 3–8 years, VE for current season dose(s) across study seasons were 62% (36–78%), 43% (22–58%), 32% (1–53%). VE for unprimed children receiving 1 dose only in current season was insignificant or lower than among all children. Conclusion Findings support utility of providing second dose (“booster dose”) of seasonal influenza vaccine to unprimed children aged 6–35 months, and the need to study further dose effect of a booster dose among unprimed children aged 3–8 years in China.

Abstract Tungsten bronze transitional metal oxides are potential candidate anode material for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) owing to their open multichannel frame structure facilitating lithium transport and storage. Herein, the molybdenum reduction and oxygen deficiency are enhanced in micrometer‐scale Mo5O14‐type tungsten bronze structure Mo3Nb2O14−x (V‐MNO) that is prepared by a solid‐state reaction in vacuum. Neutron powder diffraction data indicate that oxygen vacancies are located at both three‐coordinated (µ3) oxygen sites around filled pentagonal rings and normally two‐coordinated (µ2) oxygen sites. As anode material for LIBs, benefiting from the increased Mo reduction, facilitating the electronic transport and oxygen vacancies without strong site preferences, widening the intratunnel, and opening up the intertunnel migration paths for lithium ions, V‐MNO displays enhanced electrochemical properties with an initial discharge capacity of ≈322 mAh g−1, a charge capacity of ≈274 mAh g−1, and a reversible capacity of ≈147.2 mAh g−1 (at 400 mA g−1) after 200 cycles. The LiCoO2//V‐MNO full cell shows a discharge capacity of 145.4 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles at 100 mA g−1. These results underline significance of controlling defect chemistry on the cationic reduction and oxygen vacancies in micrometer‐scale tungsten bronze transition metal oxides as an effective strategy for enhancing their storage performance as anode materials.

Persistent high-risk HPV infection drives tumorigenesis in various human malignancies, including cervical, oropharyngeal, anal, and vulvar carcinomas. Although HPV-related tumors arise in several different sites, they share many common genetic and epigenetic events. Complex and heterogeneous genomic aberrations and mutations induced by high-risk HPV contribute to the initiation and progression of cervical cancer (CC). However, the associations between high-risk HPV infection and DNA methylation have not been clearly investigated. In the present study, HPV-related gene promoter methylation signature was comprehensively analyzed using multiple interactive platforms. CC patients were successfully classified into high-risk and low-risk groups with significant differences in clinical outcomes based on the HPV-related gene promoter methylation signature. Moreover, the protein levels of ALDH1A2 and clinical prognostic value were confirmed in the CC patients cohort. In summary, our study provides compelling evidence that HPV-related gene promoter methylation signature serves as a strong prognostic signature for CC patients. Clinical investigations in large CC patient cohorts are greatly needed to pave the way to implement epigenetic biomarkers into better clinical management.

We propose a deep-learning-based illumination analysis and efficient local imaging method. Based on the wavefield forward modeling, seismic illumination can intuitively express the energy propagation of direct waves, reflected waves, and transmitted waves, while it requires high calculation costs. We use a series of convolution operations in deep learning to establish the nonlinear relationship between the model and the illuminations to realize single-shot illumination result of the model. Stacking the single shot illumination results obtained by the network prediction can further help determine the target area. For the target area, we use a deep learning method to obtain the low illumination area of the geological model. Each shot has contribution to the low illuminated area; single shot is selected based on the contribution of the shot being greater than the average illuminance, and the low illumination area is imaged by reverse time migration on the selected shot gather. The trained convolutional neural network can help us quickly obtain the single shot illumination result of the model, which is convenient to analyze the energy distribution of various areas of geological model, and do further imaging for target areas. Using part of the shot gathers to image a local area can recover the complex geological structure of the area and improve the efficiency of reverse time migration especially for 3D problems. This method has universal applicability and is suitable for local imaging of various complex models such as subsalt areas and deep regions.

Objective To explore prognostic factors and develop an accurate prognostic prediction model for angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL). Methods Clinical data from Chinese patients with newly diagnosed AITL were retrospectively analysed. Overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were estimated using Kaplan-Meier method survival curves; prognostic factors were determined using a Cox proportional hazards model. The sensitivity and specificity of the predicted survival rates were compared using area under the curve (AUC) of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results The estimated 5-year OS and PFS of 55 eligible patients with AITL were 22% and 3%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that the presence of pneumonia, and serous cavity effusions at initial diagnosis were significant prognostic factors for OS. Based on AUC ROC values, our novel prognostic model was superior to IPI and PIT based models and suggested better diagnostic accuracy. Conclusions Our prognostic model based on pneumonia, and serous cavity effusions at initial diagnosis enabled a balanced classification of AITL patients into different risk groups.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have regenerative properties in acute kidney injury (AKI). However, the potential function of MSCs in chronic kidney disease remains elusive. Renal fibrosis is the common endpoint of chronic progressive kidney diseases and causes a considerable health burden worldwide. In this study, the protective effects of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) were assessed in repeated administration of low-dose cisplatin-induced renal fibrosis mouse model in vivo as well as a TGF-β1-induced fibrotic model in vitro. Differentially expressed miRNAs in mouse renal tubular epithelial cells (mRTECs) regulated by BM-MSCs were screened by high-throughput sequencing. We found microRNA (miR)-146a-5p was the most significant up-regulated miRNA in mRTECs. In addition, the gene Tfdp2 was identified as one target gene of miR-146a-5p by bioinformatics analysis. The expression of Tfdp2 in the treatment of BM-MSCs on cisplatin-induced renal injury was evaluated by immunohistochemistry analysis. Our results indicate that BM-MSC attenuates cisplatin-induced renal fibrosis by regulating the miR-146a-5p/Tfdp2 axis in mRTECs.

Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolases (UCHs), a subfamily of deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs), have been found in a variety of tumor entities and play distinct roles in the pathogenesis and development of various cancers including head and neck cancer (HNC). HNC is a heterogeneous disease arising from the mucosal epithelia of the upper aerodigestive tract, including different anatomic sites, distinct histopathologic types, as well as human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive and negative subgroups. Despite advances in multi-disciplinary treatment for HNC, the long-term survival rate of patients with HNC remains low. Emerging evidence has revealed the members of UCHs are associated with the pathogenesis and clinical prognosis of HNC, which highlights the prognostic and therapeutic implications of UCHs for patients with HNC. In this review, we summarize the physiological and pathological functions of the UCHs family, which provides enlightenment of potential mechanisms of UCHs family in HNC pathogenesis and highlights the potential consideration of UCHs as attractive drug targets.

Purpose: The number of families who lost their only child was over one million in 2012 in China, and it is growing rapidly every year. Without their only child, they will inevitably worry about their health and life for their later years. It is important to explore the quality of life and influencing factors of the parents.Methods: The cluster sampling method was adopted to select the participants in Wuhu city, Anhui province, central China. The generalized linear regression models were performed to analyze factors influencing EQ-VAS scores.Results: The parents with different monthly income (P = 0.001) and self-rated health status (P < 0.001) had different EQ-VAS scores. Educational level, self-rated health status, number of chronic diseases, depression and having grandchildren were significantly associated with their EQ-VAS score.Conclusion: The government should encourage public medical institutions to provide convenient health management and medical services to this vulnerable group. Priority treatment should be given to the parents who already have multiple diseases. The parents who were depressed should be given timely intervention. The government should give more financial subsidies to the parents who need to raise their grandchildren.

Abstract Background Identifying typical odor-causing compounds is essential for odor problem control in drinking water. In this study, aiming at a major water source reservoir in hot and humid areas in southern China, which encountered seasonable odor problems in recent years, an integrated approach including comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC × GC–TOFMS), flavor profile analysis (FPA) and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was adopted to investigate the odor occurrence. Results The results indicated that earthy–musty odor is blamed to the seasonable odor problems, and it is consistent with the complaints results from consumers. Fifty-four typical odor compounds were investigated in the reservoir and twelve were detected, of which, 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB) was significantly increased during the odor event. Background: The growth rate of centenarians was unusually rapid in recent decades, ushering in an era of longevity. This study aims to explore the difference between centenarians and non-centenarians using quantitative research, and to scientifically guide residents to develop the correct lifestyle and health care ways.Methods: From October 2013 to August 2017. A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 271 centenarians and 570 non-centenarians by using a questionnaire to assess longevity and health issues which was developed for the needs of the study, who came from 29 counties and districts in 11 cities of Zhejiang province, China. Two hundred and fifty-five valid questionnaires were returned, with an effective response rate of 94.1%. Meanwhile, data of 526 non-centenarians from Zhejiang province was collected as a control group, with an effective response rate of 92.3%.Results: The prevalence rates of tumor, stomach and duodenal ulcer, diabetes, bronchial asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tuberculosis among centenarians were all lower than those among non-centenarians. The oral health of centenarians is better than that of non-centenarians. The consumption of coarse cereals, pasta, other staple foods and fruits among centenarians was higher than that of non-centenarians. The percentage of centenarians who smoke or engage in recreational activities every day was lower than that of non-centenarians.Conclusions: We should give full play to the role of preventive medicine and health management to safeguard the health of residents. Pay attention to oral health, and develop the good habit of loving teeth. The diet should be rich and varied, and increase the intake of grains and fruits. Give up smoking, limit alcohol, spirit-preserving with calming, follow the law of scientific regimen.

To improve the capability, cycling stability and rate capacity of anatase TiO2-based electrode, Mo-doped TiO2 anatase encapsulated in nitrogen-doped amorphous carbon (denoted for Mo-TiO2@NC) were synthesized using a facile hydrothermal method followed by a coating with polyaniline (PANI) and heating treatment. When tested as an anode for lithium ion batteries, the Mo-TiO2@NC electrode showed an initial discharge and charge capacity of 850.7 and 548.3 mAh g−1 at a current density of 85 mA g−1, respectively, with a remarkable discharge capacity maintained at 449.2 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles. Even at a high current density of 850 mA g−1, a reversible capacity of 154 mAh g−1 after 200 cycles was obtained, displaying good rate capacity and long-term cycling stability. The outstanding electrochemical performance of Mo-TiO2@NC can be attributed to the synergistic effect of aliovalent ions doping and carbon coating.
