The failure of butterfly plastic zone in roadway surrounding rock is an important reason for the large deformation of roadway surrounding rock. In recent years, it has attracted the attention of roadway support workers. The understanding on the deformation mechanism of surrounding rock in the butterfly plastic zone is the basis for realizing the control of surrounding rock in soft rock roadway. However, there are limited studies on the deformation mechanism of surrounding rock in the butterfly failure theory. In view of the above problems, the large deformation characteristics of the south transport roadway in a mine in the southern China are taken as the research object. Based on the analysis of the stress environment and geological conditions of the roadway, the distribution of surrounding rock cracks, the deformation mechanism and control methods of the roadway are systematically studied. The results show that the south transport roadway is a typical extremely unequal pressure soft rock roadway. After the excavation of the roadway, the surrounding rock cracks are distributed in a ‘butterfly’ shape. The ‘butterfly fracture zone’ is concentrated in the ‘butterfly plastic zone’. The fractures of the surrounding rock at the butterfly leaf are mainly shear fractures, and the shear fractures at the butterfly leaf are mostly distributed around the roadway in a ‘ring’ distribution, while the tensile fractures are concentrated near the free surface of the surrounding rock of the roadway. There are two main aspects of the stress characteristics of the surrounding rock in the butterfly plastic zone. One is the deflection of the principal stress direction of the surrounding rock, which is manifested in the annular distribution of the maximum principal stress around the roadway. The direction of the minimum principal stress in the upper part of the roadway points to the center of the roadway, and the direction of the minimum principal stress in the lower part of the roadway deviates from the center of the roadway. The second is that the maximum / minimum principal stress ratio of the surrounding rock is large, and the principal stress ratio contour is ‘butterfly’ distributed. According to the distribution characteristics and stress characteristics of surrounding rock cracks in plastic zone, the mechanical dilatancy model of surrounding rock with weak surface is established. It is considered that the dilatancy effect of surrounding rock under this stress characteristic is strong, and the dilatancy effect makes the surrounding rock squeeze into the roadway space, which makes the roadway produce large deformation. The irregular distribution of surrounding rock fissures and the unreasonable original support scheme are the main reasons for the large deformation of the roadway. The study mentioned above is used to suggest a differentiated support system, the heart of which is ‘full-section prestressed short anchor cable + key part long anchor cable strengthening support + grouting’. Field observation demonstrates that the revised support plan can successfully manage the surrounding rock’s deformation and guarantee the stability of the roadway while it is in operation.

Abstract Guide Black-Fur sheep (GD) is a breed of Tibetan sheep (Ovis aries) that lives in the Qinghai–Tibetan plateau region at an altitude of over 4,000 m. However, a lack of genomic information has made it difficult to understand the high-altitude adaptation of these sheep. We sequenced and assembled the GD reference genome using PacBio, Hi-C, and Illumina sequencing technologies. The final assembled genome size was 2.73 Gb, with a contig N50 of 20.30 Mb and a scaffold N50 of 107.63 Mb. The genome is predicted to contain 20,759 protein-coding genes, of which 98.42 have functional annotations. Repeat elements account for approximately 52.2% of the genomic landscape. The completeness of the GD genome assembly is highlighted by a BUSCO score of 93.1%. This high-quality genome assembly provides a critical resource for future molecular breeding and genetic improvement of Tibetan sheep.

Abstract Background The Alpine Merino is a new breed of fine-wool sheep adapted to the cold and arid climate of the plateau in the world. It has been popularized in Northwest China due to its superior adaptability as well as excellent production performance. Those traits related to body weight, wool yield, and wool fiber characteristics, which are economically essential traits in Alpine Merino sheep, are controlled by QTL (Quantitative Trait Loci). Therefore, the identification of QTL and genetic markers for these key economic traits is a critical step in establishing a MAS (Marker-Assisted Selection) breeding program. Results In this study, we constructed the high-density genetic linkage map of Alpine Merino sheep by sequencing 110 F1 generation individuals using WGR (Whole Genome Resequencing) technology. 14,942 SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) were identified and genotyped. The map spanned 2,697.86 cM, with an average genetic marker interval of 1.44 cM. A total of 1,871 high-quality SNP markers were distributed across 27 linkage groups, with an average of 69 markers per LG (Linkage Group). Among them, the smallest genetic distance is 19.62 cM for LG2, while the largest is 237.19 cM for LG19. The average genetic distance between markers in LGs ranged from 0.24 cM (LG2) to 3.57 cM (LG17). The marker density in the LGs ranged from LG14 (39 markers) to LG1 (150 markers). Conclusions The first genetic map of Alpine Merino sheep we constructed included 14,942 SNPs, while 46 QTLs associated with body weight, wool yield and wool fiber traits were identified, laying the foundation for genetic studies and molecular marker-assisted breeding. Notably, there were QTL intervals for overlapping traits on LG4 and LG8, providing potential opportunities for multi-trait co-breeding and further theoretical support for selection and breeding of ultra-fine and meaty Alpine Merino sheep.

Abstract Background Gangba sheep as a famous breed of Tibetan sheep, its wool color is mainly white and black. Gangba wool is economically important as a high-quality raw material for Tibetan blankets and Tibetan serge. However, relatively few studies have been conducted on the wool color of Tibetan sheep. Results To fill this research gap, this study conducted an in-depth analysis of two populations of Gangba sheep (black and white wool color) using whole genome resequencing to identify genetic variation associated with wool color. Utilizing PCA, Genetic Admixture, and N-J Tree analyses, the present study revealed a consistent genetic relationship and structure between black and white wool colored Gangba sheep populations, which is consistent with their breed history. Analysis of selection signatures using multiple methods (FST, π ratio, Tajima's D), 370 candidate genes were screened in the black wool group (GBB vs GBW); among them, MC1R, MLPH, SPIRE2, RAB17, SMARCA4, IRF4, CAV1, USP7, TP53, MYO6, MITF, MC2R, TET2, NF1, JAK1, GABRR1 genes are mainly associated with melanin synthesis, melanin delivery, and distribution. The enrichment results of the candidate genes identified 35 GO entries and 19 KEGG pathways associated with the formation of the black phenotype. 311 candidate genes were screened in the white wool group (GBW vs GBB); among them, REST, POU2F1, ADCY10, CCNB1, EP300, BRD4, GLI3, and SDHA genes were mainly associated with interfering with the differentiation of neural crest cells into melanocytes, affecting the proliferation of melanocytes, and inhibiting melanin synthesis. 31 GO entries and 22 KEGG pathways were associated with the formation of the white phenotype. Conclusions This study provides important information for understanding the genetic mechanism of wool color in Gangba, and provides genetic knowledge for improving and optimizing the wool color of Tibetan sheep. Genetic improvement and selective breeding to produce wool of specific colors can meet the demand for a diversity of wool products in the Tibetan wool textile market.

Abstract Orogenic curvatures have been widely recognized along global convergent plate boundaries. Understanding the impact of such curvatures on the tectonic evolution of orogens and their three-dimensional architecture has been challenging. Here we address this issue by studying magmatism around the tightly curved Mongolian Orocline in Central Asia. Our results show that during the Permian–Triassic, arc magmatism around the inner hinge of the orocline became younger towards the core of the orocline. During the same period, the crust was thickened, as indicated by Lanthanum-Ytterbium ratio proxy. These findings, together with the observation that the present-day hinge zone of the Mongolian Orocline is wider, indicate that this zone was subjected to significant crustal-scale contraction. This contractional deformation accounts for the relatively thicker crust around the inner hinge of the Mongolian Orocline, and offers a novel perspective on the formation of elevated topography around the hinge of curved plate boundaries.

Grouting is a widely used geotechnical procedure known for its strong empirical properties. It has been extensively utilized for sealing subterranean water and strengthening soil and rock masses in their original locations in underground mining and underground space development. The diffusion mechanism of grouting in fractured rock is affected by the geological environment and slurry performance, which should be better revealed and characterized. In this paper, we take the surrounding rock of the roadway as the research object, consider the stress condition of the injected rock and time-dependent viscosity of the slurry, and establish fracture grouting diffusion model based on the rock composite fracture criterion. The grout strengthening mechanism is discussed based on a transparent fracture replica grouting test. According to the different transport characteristics of the slurry interacting with flowing water, it is divided into the following four areas grout-water balance area, grout loss area, stagnation area and water passage. The grout plugging mode is divided into two categories according to its final diffusion pattern: cross-section type water plugging mode and water-drop plugging mode. The pressure monitoring data of the test verified the two grout plugging modes. The diffusion distance of cis-reverse water derived in this study was in good agreement with the experimental results in grouting early stage. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for grouting engineering design.

The microstructure evolution of the wrought superalloy GH4698 bar subjected to annealing was investigated during solution treatment, with managing temperature and duration. The differences in mechanical properties between the core and the edge of annealed rod are attributed to residual stresses introduced by surface grinding in the shallow layers of the bar. Experimental findings of heat treatment revealed that grains in the core of the bar grow normally, with the average size exhibiting exponential growth with respect to the solution temperature and time. Abnormally large grains (ALGs) were observed at the edge of the rod under sup-solvus temperature. The presence of γ′ can restrict grain growth, but the dissolution of γ′ is not the fundamental cause leading to the occurrence of abnormal grain growth (AGG). The initial reason for AGG at the edge position lies in the presence of stored energy (SE). Grains undergoing abnormal growth are not with high SE and the nucleus of ALGs originate from static recrystallization triggered by SE. Differences in grain orientation spread (GOS) between grains serve as the driving force for AGG. The abnormal enlargement of grains coincides with the expansion of twin boundaries (TB). Σ3n (n = 1, 2 and 3) boundaries play an indispensable role in the formation and growth of ALGs.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in Asian men with all stages of prostate cancer. Materials and Methods: READT (real-life evaluation of the effect of ADT in prostate cancer patients in Asia) was a multicenter, prospective observational study involving six sites across four Asian populations. We enrolled eligible prostate cancer patients, who opted for ADT alone or in combination without prior neoadjuvant or adjuvant ADT within 12 months. The EuroQoL- 5 dimensions, 5 level scale (EQ-5D-5L) utility index scores and visual analog scale (VAS) were evaluated at baseline, month 6 and month 12. Results: A total of 504 patients were recruited into READT between September 2016 and May 2020 with 52.9% diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. The EQ-5D-5L was evaluable in 442/504 (87.7%) of patients. Overall baseline EQ-5D-5L utility index score was 0.924 (interquartile range [IQR] 0.876–1.000). We observed a statistically significant difference in baseline EQ-5D-5L utility index score among different populations with a median EQ-5D-5L utility index score of 1 for Taiwan & Hong Kong, 0.897 for China and 0.838 for Malaysia. Similar trend was observed throughout multiple treatment timepoints. Stage IV prostate cancer were significantly associated with a lower baseline EQ-5D-5L utility index score compared to stage I–III prostate cancer, producing a median disutility value of -0.080. Participants had a high median VAS (80, IQR 70–90), indicating good overall health on average during ADT initiation. Conclusions: The study highlights the differences in health state utility index scores among various Asian prostate cancer patients receiving ADT at real-world setting. Our findings will be informative and useful in cost-effectiveness evaluation and policy decision making.

Abstract With the advancement of coal resources mining to the deep part, the control of the surrounding rock of the roadway has become one of the main problems in the field of mining. At the present stage, the bolt support technology of the roadway in China still faces problems such as unclear support mechanism and poor support effect. Based on the mechanism of bolt support, through theoretical analysis and experimental research, this study proposes the differentiated support technology for roadways based on the mechanical response of the plastic zone and applies this method in the Gada Coal Mine. The results of the study showed that the plastic zones with different shapes have different mechanical responses. compared with other plastic zone shapes, the control method of the roadway with a butterfly‐shaped plastic zone is more complex. Consequently, the support design of a bolt should not only consider the scope of the plastic zone of support construction but also grasp the development law of the plastic zone. Effective support measures should be taken as early as possible for roadways with butterfly‐shaped plastic zones to prevent aggressive development of the butterfly‐shaped plastic zone. Field tests show that this support method realizes the ideal supporting effect in practical applications.

The additive manufacturing of high-γ′ precipitation-rate superalloys presents both benefits and challenges. For the fabrication of dense and crack-free K417G superalloy, this study utilized laser metal deposition (LMD) in conjunction with induction heating, conducting a comprehensive experimental exploration. The findings demonstrate that a medium energy density promotes densification. The microstructure of deposited K417G includes γ matrix, γ′ precipitation, MC carbides, and γ/γ′ eutectic. The cracking mechanism during the LMD process is intricately related to process parameters. Insufficient energy density leads to the formation of unmelted powder, resulting in localized oxidation and subsequent oxide-induced cracking. In other scenarios, it manifests as liquation cracking. Moreover, an increase in preheating temperature to between 700 °C and 900 °C induces additional ductility-dip cracking. However, by raising the preheating temperature to 1100 °C and maintaining a moderate energy density, crack-free deposits can be achieved. Such conditions not only mitigate thermal stress, but also minimize phase transition stress by preventing repeated γ′ dissolution and precipitation, resulting in a more homogeneous γ′ dimensions distribution. This study confirms the printability of K417G superalloy and enhances the technological understanding of using LMD in conjunction with induction heating to prepare non-weldable superalloys.

IntroductionBlumea balsamifera L. (Ainaxiang) DC. is a perennial herb of the compositae family. It is also the primary source of natural borneol. Endo-borneol, the principal medical active element in B. balsamifera, is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and analgesic; enhances medicine absorption; refreshes; and is used as a spice and in cosmetic. Industrialization of B. balsamifera is limited by its low L-borneol concentration. Thus, understanding the accumulation pattern of the secondary metabolite endo-borneol and its synthesis process in secondary metabolism is critical for increasing B. balsamifera active ingredient content and cultivation efficiency.MethodsIn this work, B. balsamifera was treated with varying concentrations (1.00 and 10.00 mmol/L) of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) as an exogenous foliar activator. The physiological parameters and L-borneol concentration were then assessed. Transcriptome sequencing of B. balsamifera-induced leaves was used to identify key genes for monoterpene synthesis.ResultsThe treatment effect of 1 mmol/L MeJA was the best, and the leaves of all three leaf positions accumulated the highest L-borneol after 120 h, correspondingly 3.043 mg·g−1 FW, 3.346 mg·g−1 FW, and 2.044 mg·g−1 FW, with significant differences from the control. The main assembly produced 509,285 transcripts with min and max lengths of 201 and 23,172, respectively. DEG analysis employing volcano blots revealed 593, 224, 612, 2,405, 1,353, and 921 upregulated genes and 4, 123, 573, 1,745, 766, and 763 downregulated genes in the treatments D1_1vsCK, D1_10vsCK, D2_1vsCK, D2_10vsCK, D5_1vsCK, and D5_10vsCK. Interestingly, when exposed to MeJA treatments, the MEP pathway’s unigenes express themselves more than those of the MVA route. Finally, when treated with 1 mmol/L, the genes DXR, DXS, and GPS showed increased expression over time. At the same time, a 10 mmol/L therapy resulted in elevated levels of ispH and GGPS.DiscussionOur preliminary research indicates that exogenous phytohormones can raise the level of L borneol in B. balsamifera (L.) DC when given in the appropriate amounts. The most significant discovery made while analyzing the effects of different hormones and concentrations on B. balsamifera (L.) DC was the effect of 1 mmol/L MeJA treatment.

Cd (cadmium) is a highly toxic heavy metal pollutant often present in soil and detrimentally impacting the production and quality of horticultural crops. Cd affects various physiological and biochemical processes in plants, including chlorophyll synthesis, photosynthesis, mineral uptake and accumulation, and hormonal imbalance, leading to cell death. The MYB family of transcription factors plays a significant role in plant response to environmental influences. However, the role of MYB116 in abiotic stress tolerance remains unclear. In this study, we reported that Chinese cabbage transcription factor BrMYB116 enhanced Cd stress tolerance in yeast. The expression level of BrMYB116 was increased by Cd stress in Chinese cabbage. Additionally, yeast cells overexpressing BrMYB116 showed improved Cd stress tolerance and reduced Cd accumulation. Moreover, we found that BrMYB116 interacted with facilitator of iron transport (FIT3) to enhance Cd stress tolerance. ChIP-qPCR results showed that ScFIT3 was activated through specific binding to its promoter. Additionally, the overexpression of ScFIT3 induced Cd stress tolerance and reduced Cd accumulation in yeast and Chinese cabbage. These results suggest new avenues for plant genomic modification to mitigate Cd toxicity and enhance the safety of vegetable production.

To explore the effects of fracture inclination angle θ and confining pressure σ3t on the slip behaviors and friction properties of fractures, the triaxial unloading-induced slip experiments were performed on the shale fractures. The results show that the σ3t controls the slip modes of fractures, while the θ affects the occurrence of the stick-slip events during the quasi-static slip stage. With the increase in σ3t, the main slip modes of fracture transform from the stable-slip to stick-slip, and eventually to the creep-slip. The increase in θ facilitated the occurrence of stick-slip events. As the θ increased from 30° to 50°, the number of stick-slip events increased from 0 to 3 and from 2 to 4 for σ3t = 10 MPa and 20 MPa, respectively. For σ3t = 40 MPa, no stick-slip event occurred in the slipping process. The θ and σ3t have great effects on interaction modes between asperities, which directly affected the friction properties of fractures. With increasing σ3t, the void spaces between the asperities were further compacted, resulting in the transition of asperity interaction from overriding mode to shear-off mode. The transition of asperity interaction model therefore brought about the weakening of friction coefficient at the activation point and the onset of dynamic slip stage. There is a competitive relationship between the θ and σ3t for the evolution of the friction properties of fractures. As the θ increase from 30° to 50°, for σ3t = 10 MPa, the mean sheared-off thickness decreased from 0.502 mm to 0.433 mm, while for σ3t = 40 MPa, the mean sheared-off thickness decreased from 0.505 mm to 0.319 mm. With the increment of θ, the anisotropy of joint roughness coefficient was weakened. We suggested that by adjusting the fracturing angle of hydro-fracturing, the earthquakes with large seismic moments may be effectively mitigated.

The acid-hydrolyzed acorn starch samples (HAS-1, HAS-2, HAS-3, and HAS-4) were prepared from natural acorn starch (NAS) at sulfuric acid concentrations of 1, 2, 3, and 4 mol/L for 2 d. The particle characteristics and structures of HAS were investigated, and Pickering high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) based on HAS were constructed and characterized. The results showed that with an increase in sulfuric acid concentration, the size, yield, amylose content, molecular weight, and amylopectin chain length of HAS gradually decreased. HAS retained an A-type crystal structure, and its relative crystallinity and short-range order degree gradually increased with increasing sulfuric acid concentration. Acid hydrolysis treatment improved the wettability of NAS, and its effect was positively correlated with the sulfuric acid concentration. HAS-3 and HAS-4 could stabilize the Pickering HIPEs with an oil phase volume fraction of 80% at c ≥ 1.5%. The mechanical properties of the HIPEs were positively correlated with c.

The early warning of landslides is crucial in mitigating the losses caused by frequent and abrupt landslide disasters along the railway. The scientific construction of an evaluation model is pivotal in conducting a comprehensive landslide hazard assessment. Using a railway section in Ya’an City as a case study, an improved Stacking model was developed to assess landslide hazard by selecting eight evaluation factors and employing support vector machines, random forests, K-neighborhood, and naive Bayesian learning. Logical regression was utilized as a meta learning tool to evaluate the model’s performance. To address the issue of a limited number of input samples for the meta learner, the proposed approach incorporates reduced dimensionality data from the original dataset as input for the meta learner. This is based on the output of the base learner, resulting in the establishment of an improved Stacking model. The ROC curve is used to verify the accuracy of the model, compare the accuracy of the Stacking model and the single model before and after the improvement, and generate the risk zoning map of the study area. The results show that the AUCs of support vector machines, random forests, and stacking models are 0.8068, 0.8203, and 0.8368 , respectively, with good performance, while the accuracy of the improved stacking model reaches 0.8806 . A reference for the prevention and management of geological catastrophes, the accuracy of the landslide hazard zoning map created using ArcGIS in the research area has reached 0.853 , which is essentially compatible with the real distribution.

Polypropylene (PP) is considered to be a rather promising material for HVDC cable insulation. Grafting modi-fication has proved to be an effective method on the electrical property improvements of PP. This paper reports on the highly-enhanced electrical properties of styrene-grafted polypropylene (PP-g-St) and their related mechanism. The influence of grafting styrene on crystallization structures, thermal properties and electrical properties of PP-g-St are characterized and analyzed. These results show that PP-g-St exhibits remarkably enhanced DC volume resistivity, suppressed space charge accumulation and improved DC breakdown strengths as compared to PP. Crystallization observation shows PP-g-St has small, imperfect spherulites with indistinct boundaries, which is strongly correlated to enhanced electrical properties. This study provides an effective grafting strategy to design high-performance HVDC cable insulation materials for bulk power transmission systems.

Abstract 4D printing technology combines 3D printing and stimulus-responsive materials, enabling construction of complex 3D objects efficiently. However, unlike smart soft materials, 4D printing of ceramics is a great challenge due to the extremely weak deformability of ceramics. Here, we report a feasible and efficient manufacturing and design approach to realize direct 4D printing of ceramics. Photocurable ceramic elastomer slurry and hydrogel precursor are developed for the fabrication of hydrogel-ceramic laminates via multimaterial digital light processing 3D printing. Flat patterned laminates evolve into complex 3D structures driven by hydrogel dehydration, and then turn into pure ceramics after sintering. Considering the dehydration-induced deformation and sintering-induced shape retraction, we develop a theoretical model to calculate the curvatures of bent laminate and sintered ceramic part. Then, we build a design flow for direct 4D printing of various complex ceramic objects. This approach opens a new avenue for the development of ceramic 4D printing technology.

AbstractContext Ginkgo biloba Linn (Ginkgoaceae) [leaves extract (GBE)] is authorized for the treatment of sudden hearing loss (SHL); however, its clinical feasibility in SHL has not been thoroughly investigated.Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of adjuvant GBE in the treatment of SHL.Materials and methods We used PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, Chinese Scientific Journal Database, China Biomedical Database for literature research, starting from inception to 30 June 2022. The key terms: Ginkgo biloba extract, Sudden Sensorineural Deafness. This meta-analysis contained randomized controlled trials that compared the safety and efficacy of the combination of GBE and general treatments (GT) with GT alone for SHL. The extracted data were analyzed using Revman5.4 software with risk ratio (RR), 95% confidence intervals (CI) and mean difference (MD).Results Our meta-analysis included 27 articles with a total of 2623 patients. In response to the issues arising from the disordered charging and discharging behavior of electric vehicle energy storage Charging piles, as well as the dynamic characteristics of electric vehicles, we have developed an ordered charging and discharging optimization scheduling strategy for energy storage Charging piles considering time-of-use electricity prices. The decision variables include the charging and discharging prices, states, and power of electric vehicles. We have constructed a mathematical model for electric vehicle charging and discharging scheduling with the optimization objectives of minimizing the charging and discharging costs of electric vehicles and maximizing the revenue of Charging piles. To address the challenges of multivariable, multi-objective, and high-dimensional optimization in the proposed model, we propose a Multi-strategy Hybrid Improved Harris Hawk Algorithm (MHIHHO). In addition, to validate the optimization performance of the proposed algorithm, CEC benchmark test functions are employed to assess the algorithm's optimization accuracy, convergence speed, stability, and significance. Finally, optimization-based scheduling simulations are performed considering power constraints for energy storage charging and discharging at different time intervals, as well as discharge loads. The proposed method reduces the peak-to-valley ratio of typical loads by 52.8 % compared to the original algorithm, effectively allocates charging piles to store electric power resources during off-peak periods, reduces user charging costs by 16.83 %–26.3 %, and increases Charging pile revenue.

Background: Glioma is the most common malignant brain tumor of the central nervous system. Despite of the improvement of therapeutic strategy, the prognosis of malignant glioma patients underwent by STUPP strategy is still unexpected. Previous studies have suggested that ticagrelor exerted chemotherapeutic effects by inhibition of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in various diseases including tumors. However, whether ticagrelor can exhibit the antitumor efficiency in glioma by affecting the EMT process is still unclear. In this study, we investigated the cancer-fighting role of ticagrelor and demonstrated its chemotherapeutic mechanism in glioma. Materials and methods: The MTT assay was performed to detect the cytotoxicity of ticagrelor in glioma cells. We evaluated the expression of Ki67 in glioma cells by immunofluorescence assay after ticagrelor treatment. We conducted wound healing assay and transwell assay to determine the effects of ticagrelor on the migration and invasion of glioma cells. RNA-seq analysis was conducted to examine potential target genes and alternative signaling pathways for ticagrelor treatment. The expression levels of key EMT -related proteins were examined by Western blot experiment. Results: Ticagrelor inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of glioma cells with a favorable toxicity profile in vitro. Ticagrelor downregulated the expression of GTSE1 in glioma cells. RNA-seq analysis explored that GTSE1 acted as the potential target gene for ticagrelor treatment. Upregulation of GTSE1 antagonized the inhibitory effect of ticagrelor on the invasion of glioma and EMT progression by regulation of PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway. And ticagrelor also exhibited the similar chemotherapeutic effect of glioma in vivo. Conclusions: Ticagrelor as a potential chemotherapeutic option induced the inhibition of the GTSE1-induced EMT progression by regulation of PI3K/AKT/NF-κB signaling pathway.

At present, there have been many research articles reporting that plant-based protein Pickering particles from different sources are used to stabilize Pickering emulsions, but the reports of corresponding review articles are still far from sufficient. This study focuses on the research hotspots and related progress on plant-based protein Pickering particles in the past five years. First, the article describes the mechanism by which Pickering emulsions are stabilized by different types of plant-based protein Pickering particles. Then, the extraction, preparation, and modification methods of various plant-based protein Pickering particles are highlighted to provide a reference for the development of greener and more efficient plant-based protein Pickering particles. The article also introduces some of the most promising applications of Pickering emulsions stabilized by plant-based protein Pickering particles in the food field. Finally, the paper also discusses the potential applications and challenges of plant-based protein Pickering particles in the food industry.

Small fiber neuropathy (SFN) in peripheral neuropathies is the most common neuropathy associated with Sjogren's syndrome (SS). Small fiber neuropathy is a neuropathy that specifically involves myelinated Aδ and unmyelinated c-fibers, with abnormal neurophysiology and/or reduced intraepidermal nerve fiber density in the skin biopsy. Patients with Sjogren's syndrome complicated with small fiber neuropathy often present with painful and burning sensation, accompanied by autonomic dysfunction. In these patients, neurologic clinical manifestations may precede the diagnosis of Sjogren's syndrome. Thus, early diagnosis and treatment may help to reduce the suffering of the patients. This article reviews the research progress in small fiber neuropathy associated with Sjogren's syndrome, including the pathological basis, possible molecular mechanisms, clinical symptoms, the diagnosis and treatment in order to benefit the research, diagnosis and management of this disease.

Molecular breeding is one of the most effective methods for improving the performance of crops. Understanding the genome features of crops, especially the physiological functions of individual genes, is of great importance to molecular breeding. Evidence has shown that genomes of both animals and plants transcribe numerous non-coding RNAs, which are involved in almost every aspect of development. In crops, an increasing number of studies have proven that non-coding RNAs are new genetic resources for regulating crop traits. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge of non-coding RNAs, which are potential crop trait regulators, and focus on the functions of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in determining crop grain yield, phased small-interfering RNAs (phasiRNAs) in regulating fertility, small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) in facilitating plant immune response and disease resistance, and miRNAs mediating nutrient and metal stress. Finally, we also discuss the next-generation method for ncRNA application in crop domestication and breeding.

The applied patents related to Amomum tsaoko food were searched through the Baiten database to understand the layout and development trends of the patents related to Amomum tsaoko food. And the patent analysis method was used to statistically analyze the whole profile of the patents, trends in applications and authorization, territory of applications, applicants, legal status and events, patent value and layout of technical applications. A total of 3225 invention patents of Amomum tsaoko food were searched, including 641 authorized patents and 281 valid patents, which were distributed in Anhui, Jiangsu and Sichuan, etc. The results showed that the research and development of Amomum tsaoko food field began to enter a mature and stable period in 2019, and the authorized patents began to decline from 2015. The majority of patent applicants were enterprises, but the patent invalidation rate was high. There was a lack of patents with technical content, and the market conversion rate of patent economy was low. From the perspective of technical layout, the current active technology of Amomum tsaoko food patent applied to meat products, condiments, bean products, aquatic products and vegetable products, the innovation of health food and its extracts was slightly weak. In terms of health food, Amomum tsaoko had high recognition and attention for its health care efficacy in enhancing immunity, strengthening spleen and appetizing, and lowering blood pressure. The distribution pattern of patents related to Amomum tsaoko food was comprehensively analyzed in this paper, providing reference for the subsequent research and development of Amomum tsaoko food, and helping the upgrading of Amomum tsaoko industry.

This research investigates the relationship between the microstructure and mechanical properties of electron beam welding joints, with a particular emphasis on the influence of varying electron beam currents on AISI 410L stainless steel plates and NS163 Co-based superalloy wires, which is a rare and novel form of welding. An increase in beam current led to a gradual transformation of the weld microstructure from columnar to equiaxed grains, creating finer and more homogeneous grains. Macrosegregation was also observed, a consequence of the liquidus temperature difference between the weld metal (WM) and base metal (BM). The segregation structure exhibited irregularly shaped beaches near the fusion line and islands of unmixed and partially mixed NS163 within the WM. This phenomenon was more pronounced in samples with a lower beam current. Given the limitations in BM shape and WM size, nanoindentation was employed to characterize the strength of welded joints. In conjunction with microhardness measurements, it was confirmed that the weld is strengthened under different electron beam currents, with higher current resulting in a more significant strengthening effect. This study also underscores the value of nanoindentation in evaluating the weld strength of brush seals without destruction.

This study presents the spatio–temporal evolution of the electric and magnetic fields recorded by the China Seismo–Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES) and the thermal infrared remote sensing data observed by the Chinese stationary meteorological satellites Feng Yun–2G (FY–2G) associated with the 2021 Mw7.3 Maduo earthquake. Specifically, we analyzed the power spectrum density (PSD) data of the electric field in the extremely low frequency (ELF) band, the geomagnetic east–west vector data, and the temperature of brightness blackbody (TBB) data to investigate the spatio–temporal evolution characteristics under quiet space weather conditions (Dst > −30 nT and Kp < 3). Results showed that (1) the TBB radiation began to increase notably along the northern fault of the epicenter ~1.5 months prior to the occurrence of the earthquake. It achieved its maximum intensity on 17 May, and the earthquake occurred as the anomalies decreased. (2) The PSD in the 371 Hz–500 Hz and 700 Hz–871 Hz bands exhibited anomaly perturbations near the epicenter and its magnetic conjugate area on May 17, with particularly notable perturbations observed in the latter. The anomaly perturbations began to occur ~1 month before the earthquake, and the earthquake occurred as the anomalies decreased. (3) Both the magnetic –east–west component vector data and the ion velocity Vx data exhibited anomaly perturbations near the epicenter and the magnetic conjugate area on 11 May and 16 May. (4) The anomaly perturbations in the thermal infrared TBB data, CSES electric field, and magnetic field data all occurred within a consistent perturbation time period and spatial proximity. We also conducted an investigation into the timing, location, and potential causes of the anomaly perturbations using the Vx ion velocity data with magnetic field –east–west component vector data, as well as the horizontal –north–south and vertical component PSD data of the electric field with the magnetic field –east–west component vector data. There may be both chemical and electromagnetic wave propagation models for the “lithosphere—atmosphere—ionosphere” coupling (LAIC) mechanism of the Maduo earthquake.

This study aims to compare the accuracy of genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV) estimated using a genomic best linear unbiased prediction (GBLUP) method and GEBV estimates incorporating prior marker information from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) for the weaning weight trait in highland Merino sheep. The objective is to provide theoretical and technical support for improving the accuracy of genomic selection. The study used a population of 1007 highland Merino ewes, with the weaning weight at 3 months as the target trait. The population was randomly divided into two groups. The first group was used for GWAS analysis to identify significant markers, and the top 5%, top 10%, top 15%, and top 20% markers were selected as prior marker information. The second group was used to estimate genetic parameters and compare the accuracy of GEBV predictions using different prior marker information. The accuracy was obtained using a five-fold cross-validation. Finally, both groups were subjected to cross-validation. The study’s findings revealed that the heritability of the weaning weight trait, as calculated using the GBLUP model, ranged from 0.122 to 0.394, with corresponding prediction accuracies falling between 0.075 and 0.228. By incorporating prior marker information from GWAS, the heritability was enhanced to a range of 0.125 to 0.407. The inclusion of the top 5% to top 20% significant SNPs from GWAS results as prior information into GS showed potential for improving the accuracy of predicting genomic breeding value.

Diversified soil microbiomes are the key drivers of carbon fixation and plant residue decomposition in forest ecosystems. Revealing the elevation patterns of soil microbial carbon cycling in forests is essential for utilization of forest ecological resources. However, the soil microbial diversity and carbon cycle processes in Platycladus orientalis plantations across different elevations are still unclear. Here, we established a gradient with three elevations (118 m, 300 m, and 505 m) on the Beijing Ming Dynasty Tombs Forest Farm, which is located in Changping District, Beijing. The metagenomics method was applied to study the soil microbiome, with a special focus on the carbon cycle process at each elevation. We found the diversity and composition of the soil microbiomes significantly varied across the elevation gradients. The structure of bacteria and archaea was mainly driven by soil total potassium, pH and NH4+, but the eukaryota had no significant relationship with the environmental factors. The relative abundance of genes involved in microbial carbon fixation and decomposition of organic carbon were also significantly impacted by elevation, with the former showing increasing, u-shaped, or hump trends with increasing elevation, but the latter only showing hump trends. The rTCA cycle and 3-hydroxypropionate pathway were the dominant carbon fixation pathways in the Platycladus orientalis plantations. The elevation gradient shaped the microbial decomposition of plant-derived organic carbon by changing soil properties and, furthermore, led to soil organic carbon stock losses. These findings increase our understanding of soil microbial diversity and the carbon cycle across different elevations and provide a theoretical basis for the utilization of forest ecological resources to promote carbon sequestration.

Summary: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) in the basal lateral amygdala (BLA) has been established to correct symptoms of refractory post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, how BLA DBS operates in correcting PTSD symptoms and how the BLA elicits pathological fear and anxiety in PTSD remain unclear. Here, we discover that excitatory synaptic transmission from the BLA projection neurons (PNs) to the adBNST, and lateral central amygdala (CeL) is greatly suppressed in a mouse PTSD model induced by foot shock (FS). BLA DBS revises the weakened inputs from the BLA to these two areas to improve fear and anxiety. Optogenetic manipulation of the BLA-adBNST and BLA-CeL circuits shows that both circuits are responsible for anxiety but the BLA-CeL for fear in FS mice. Our results reveal that synaptic transmission dysregulation of the BLA-adBNST or BLA-CeL circuits is reversed by BLA DBS, which improves anxiety and fear in the FS mouse model.

Ralstonia pickettii, the most critical clinical pathogen of the genus Ralstonia, has been identified as a causative agent of numerous harmful infections. Additionally, Ralstonia pickettii demonstrates adaptability to extreme environmental conditions, such as those found in drinking water. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive genomic analysis to investigate the genomic characteristics related to potential pathogenicity and adaptive evolution in drinking water environments of Ralstonia pickettii. Through phylogenetic analysis and population genetic analysis, we divided Ralstonia pickettii into five Groups, two of which were associated with drinking water environments. The open pan-genome with a large and flexible gene repertoire indicated a high genetic plasticity. Significant differences in functional enrichment were observed between the core- and pan-genome of different groups. Diverse mobile genetic elements (MGEs), extensive genomic rearrangements, and horizontal gene transfer (HGT) events played a crucial role in generating genetic diversity. In drinking water environments, Ralstonia pickettii exhibited strong adaptability, and the acquisition of specific adaptive genes was potentially facilitated by genomic islands (GIs) and HGT. Furthermore, environmental pressures drove the adaptive evolution of Ralstonia pickettii, leading to the accumulation of unique mutations in key genes. These mutations may have a significant impact on various physiological functions, particularly carbon metabolism and energy metabolism. The presence of virulence-related elements associated with macromolecular secretion systems, virulence factors, and antimicrobial resistance indicated the potential pathogenicity of Ralstonia pickettii, making it capable of causing multiple nosocomial infections. This study provides comprehensive insights into the potential pathogenicity and adaptive evolution of Ralstonia pickettii in drinking water environments from a genomic perspective.

The Pearl River Delta (PRD) region in South China is abundant of geothermal water resources whereas geochemical evolution of the geothermal water is still poorly understood. In this study, geothermal water is sampled to investigate the provenance of CO2 and sulphate, residence time, recharge elevation, circulation depth, and water-interaction processes by analyzing chemistry of major ions and isotope geochemistry. The range of δ13C and content of bicarbonate reveal multiple sources of soil CO2, carbonate rocks, and small amounts of mantle CO2. The δ34S ratio and sulphate concentration are attributed to evaporites dissolution, input of atmospheric sulphur, seawater intrusion, and oxidation of pyrite. The residence time of up to 21.01 ka for geothermal water likely suggests the earliest precipitation recharge during the Late Pleistocene. Mountains or/and hills at an altitude of 300–760 m in north PRD region are currently the major recharge areas for the geothermal water which can circulate at the depths of up to 3000–4800 m along regional structures. The isotopic and hydrochemical analysis confirms that extensive water interaction with silicate rock, carbonate rock and evaporite, evaporation-crystallization process, and cation exchange are the key mechanisms that control the geochemical evolution of geothermal water in the PRD geothermal system.

Vehicle skin is the key component in maintaining the aerodynamic shape of the vehicle. A deformable high-speed vehicle needs to adjust its shape in real time to realize optimum aerodynamic efficiency and to withstand extreme heat flow induced by high-speed flight, which requires the skin to possess large strain and high-temperature resistance. Traditional vehicle skin cannot satisfy both of the requirements. Biomimetic flexible skin for deformable high-speed vehicles (DHSV-bio-FS) combines flexible material fabrication with transpiration cooling technology, which can simulate human skin sweat cooling, and has the characteristics of large strain and high-temperature resistance. The thermal protection performance of the prepared prototype of DHSV-bio-FS was evaluated by simulation and wind tunnel experiments at 40% tensile strain with liquid water as coolant. Simulation results suggest that the surface temperature of the DHSV-bio-FS at 40% tensile strain is consistent with the temperature of the coolant (350 K) in a 3,000 K high-temperature gas environment. In addition, the prepared prototype DHSV-bio-FS survived for 1,200 s in a high-temperature gas environment of 200 kW/m2 in wind tunnel experiments. This paper verifies the reliability of DHSV-bio-FS in a high-temperature gas environment and can be deployed in applications of flexible skin for deformable high-speed vehicles (DHSV-FS).

IntroductionThe primary objective of the current study was to evaluate the effects of Flammulina velutipes mushroom residue (FVMR) in a fermented total mixed ration (FTMR) diet on the fattening effect and rumen microorganisms in Guizhou black male goats.MethodsA total of 22 Guizhou black male goats were allocated into two groups using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) experimental design. The average initial weight was 22.41 ± 0.90 kg and with 11 goats in each group. The control group (group I) was fed the traditional fermentation total mixed ration (FTMR) diet without FVMR. Group II was fed the 30% FVMR in the FTMR diet.ResultsThe results showed that compared with group I, the addition of FVMR in the goat diet could reduce the feed cost and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of group II (p < 0.01). Notably, the apparent digestibility of crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and dry matter (DM) were higher in group II (p < 0.01). The levels of growth hormone (GH), immunoglobulin A (IgA), and immunoglobulin M (IgM) in group II were higher than that of group I (p < 0.01), which the level of glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (ALT) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) was noticeably lower than that of group I (p < 0.01). 30% FVMR in FTMR diets had no effect on rumen fermentation parameters and microbial composition at the phylum level of Guizhou black male goats (p > 0.05). However, at the genus level, the relative abundance of bacteroidal_bs11_gut_group, Christensenellaceae_R-7_group and Desulfovibrio in group II was lower than in group I (p < 0.05), and the relative abundance of Lachnospiraceae_ND3007_group was higher than in group I (p < 0.01).DiscussionIn conclusion, the results of the current study indicated that 30% FVMR in the FTMR diet improves rumen fermentation and rumen microbial composition in Guizhou black male goats, which improves growth performance, apparent digestibility, and immunity.

Abstract In addition to coding proteins, RNA molecules, especially long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), have well‐established functions in regulating gene expression. The number of studies focused on the roles played by different types of lncRNAs in a variety of plant biological processes has markedly increased. These lncRNA roles involve plant vegetative and reproductive growth and responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. In this review, we examine the classification, mechanisms, and functions of lncRNAs and then emphasize the roles played by these lncRNAs in the communication between plants and the environment mainly with respect to the following environmental factors: temperature, light, water, salt stress, and nutrient deficiencies. We also discuss the consensus among researchers and the remaining challenges and underscore the exciting ways lncRNAs may affect the biology of plants.

BACKGROUND: Family, schooling, and culture influence attitudes towards gender roles, which life experiences further reinforce. Cross-regional migration is an important life experience that can reshape gender role attitudes. However, little is known about how host-city cultures influence migrant workers' gender role attitudes and the influencing mechanisms. OBJECTIVE: This study investigates the impact of migration experiences on rural migrants' gender role attitudes, revealing the influencing mechanisms of urban culture. METHODS: The augmented inverse probability weighting method is utilised to develop a model of migration's influence on gender role attitudes. Data are sourced from the 2015 Chinese General Social Survey, conducted with 4,791 rural migrant workers (aged 16-65 years). RESULTS: Rural-urban migrants become more accepting of gender equality after migration, although this trend is stronger in the labour market than in the domestic domain. Further, analysing the moderating effect of provincial gender culture and differences on rural migrants' gender role attitudes shows that workers who migrate from more gender-conservative places become more accepting of gender equality after leaving and that women are more strongly influenced by gender equality in urban areas than are men. CONTRIBUTION: The study provides further insight into cultural impacts on migrants' values and how such impacts are differentialised regarding gender, the work-family sphere, and regional culture. This impact is mostly limited to the performance of the rural migrant population in the labour market and does not fully penetrate into this population's family life.

AIM: To report the clinical characteristics, treatment and outcomes of active syphilitic uveitis in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive patients and compare them with the previously published data. METHODS: Retrospective analysis of the case series from an infectious disease center in southern China was conducted. Comprehensive review of previously published cases of HIV positive syphilitic uveitis was conducted using the PubMed and Web of Science databases and the references listed in the identified articles. RESULTS: Twelve HIV positive patients with active syphilitic uveitis were collected. All were male, with age of 36.3y (range 27 to 53y). Five (41.7%) had a history of syphilis, and three of them had received anti-syphilis treatment. Ocular manifestations included corneal epithelial defect (13%), complicated cataract (17.4%), vitreous opacity (82.6%), optic disc edema (26.1%), macular edema (30.4%), neuro-retinitis (43.5%), and retinal hemorrhage (26.1%). After standardized syphilitic treatment, intraocular inflammation was reduced and vision improved in all cases. The literature review summarizes 105 previously reported cases of HIV positive syphilitic uveitis. High serum rapid plasma regain (RPR) titers may be associated with severe uveitis and poor vision. Treatment with penicillin, ceftriaxone sodium, or penicillin plus benzylpenicillin instead of using benzylpenicillin alone can significantly improve best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in HIV positive ocular syphilis patients. CONCLUSION: For HIV positive syphilitic uveitis patients, prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment and follow-up are paramount. In our series, the clinical manifestations are diverse. Syphilis patients treated by penicillin G or long-acting penicillin before may still develop syphilitic uveitis. Patients who relapse after long-term penicillin treatment can still benefit from penicillin G.

In this study, high-temperature nitriding was used to improve the surface hardness and wear resistance of Co–27Cr–22Fe alloy in a thermogravimetric analyzer. The high-temperature nitriding treatments were performed at 1200 °C for 3 and 10 h. Subsequently, at room temperature, the dry sliding wear test was carried out, and the possible effects of load on friction performance and microstructure of different specimens were investigated. The results show that the microstructure of as-received specimens is composed of γ-Co and MC carbides, while the microstructure of the nitrided specimens contains γ-Co, MC carbides, acicular AlN, and granular (Ti, Nb)N. The thickness of the nitriding layer is 375 μm and 708 μm for nitriding 3 h and nitriding 10 h, respectively. An improvement in microhardness (∼425 HV) was attained for nitrided specimens. For the as-received specimens, the wear rate decreases with increasing load. The as-received specimen exhibits better wear resistance than the nitrided specimen under a high load (∼30 N). The wear mechanism under different loads was mainly abrasive wear, accompanied by adhesive wear. For the nitrided specimens, the specimens show different wear mechanisms under varying loads. Under low load (∼5 N and ∼15 N), the high-temperature nitriding improves the wear resistance, and it exhibits abrasive wear and oxidative wear. Under high load (∼30 N), the wear resistance of the nitrided specimen was significantly reduced, and the wear mechanism is mainly abrasive wear, fatigue wear, and oxidative wear.

Roof falls in coal mine roadways are the main causes of many casualties, shutdowns and production plan delays. To understand the relationship between the influencing factors of roadway roof fall accidents and the importance ranking of the accidents, we will reduce safety accidents in coal mines. To enable the timely prediction and control of roadway roof fall risks, based on the investigation of many roadway roof fall risk factors, 12 evaluation indexes such as the roadway roof rock thickness, geological conditions and roadway section shape were selected. An evaluation index system of roadway roof fall risks is constructed. A risk degree standard of roadway roof falls is proposed. The risk evaluation model of roadway roof falls was established by using the combination weight of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), entropy weight method (EW) and matter element extension theory. According to the principle of the maximum membership degree, the risk degree of roadway roof falls is determined. Based on Java Web, a risk assessment system for roadway roof falls was developed. We name the system Multiple Weight-Material Element Web (MW-MEW). The MW-MEW system was used to evaluate the risk degree of roof falls in the C9 return airway of the Xingu Coal Mine. Compared with the evaluation results of the AHP matter element extension model, it is found that the evaluation results of the MW-MEW system are more in line with the actual engineering conditions. The successful application of the MW-MEW system will provide new avenues for the quantitative evaluation of roof fall risks in coal mine roadways.

The complexity of surface characteristics in rural areas poses challenges for accurate extraction of built-up areas from remote sensing images. The Artificial Surface Index (ASI) emerged as a novel and accurate built-up land index. However, the absence of short-wave infrared (SWIR) bands in most high-resolution (HR) images restricts the application of index-based methods in rural built-up land extraction. This paper presents a rapid extraction method for high-resolution built-up land in rural areas based on ASI. Through the downscaling techniques of random forest (RF) regression, high-resolution SWIR bands were generated. They were then combined with visible and near-infrared (VNIR) bands to compute ASI on GaoFen-2 (GF-2) images (called ASIGF). Furthermore, a red roof index (RRI) was designed to reduce the probability of misclassifying built-up land with bare soil. The results demonstrated that SWIR downscaling effectively compensates for multispectral information absence in HR imagery and expands the applicability of index-based methods to HR remote sensing data. Compared with five other indices (UI, BFLEI, NDBI, BCI, and PISI), the combination of ASI and RRI achieved the optimal performance in built-up land enhancement and bare land suppression, particularly showcasing superior performance in rural built-up land extraction.

Hybridization of livestock can be used to improve varieties, and different hybrid combinations produce unique breeding effects. In this study, male Southdown and Suffolk sheep were selected to hybridize with female Hu sheep to explore the effects of male parentage on muscle growth and the development of offspring. Using data-independent acquisition technology, we identified 119, 187, and 26 differentially abundant proteins (DAPs) between Hu × Hu (HH) versus Southdown × Hu (NH), HH versus Suffolk × Hu (SH), and NH versus SH crosses. Two DAPs, MYOZ2 and MYOM3, were common to the three hybrid groups and were mainly enriched in muscle growth and development-related pathways. At the myoblast proliferation stage, MYOZ2 expression decreased cell viability and inhibited proliferation. At the myoblast differentiation stage, MYOZ2 expression promoted myoblast fusion and enhanced the level of cell fusion. These findings provide new insights into the key proteins and metabolic pathways involved in the effect of male parentage on muscle growth and the development of hybrid offspring in sheep.

In this study, GH3536 superalloy was subjected to the cold rolling processing up to 60% of thickness reductions for meticulously investigating the evolutions of both microstructure and texture. Crucial findings of deformation microstructures such as the twinning of the grain with Copper orientation and the occurrence of shear bands in matrix were captured by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Twin trace analysis (TTA) was concomitant with resolved shear stress (RSS) analysis for identifying active twin variants. Higher strength and lower ductility were developed with increasing reduction ratios, which was evaluated in mechanical properties tests implemented by using nonstandard miniaturized specimens. The RSS ratio analysis was carried out to predict the twinnability of the most compliant orientation and disclose the orientation dependence of deformation twinning. Experimental and calculated results proved the discovery of the deformation twinning in a Copper orientation.

Abstract Medical image segmentation based on deep learning is becoming popular. To improve the segmentation accuracy of medical images such as cells and vessels, we propose the LSUnetMix model, which can effectively enhance the ability to extract channel information and capture image details better. It surpasses both traditional and latest models on medical datasets. This model is mainly based on Unet, and three modules have been added. The first is the Channel Information Transmission module, which uses long–short term memory to get the sequential features of layers and unidirectionally transfer the channel information of the upper layer to the lower layer, which combines multiple layers of information while avoiding information redundancy. The second is the Prospect Enhancement module, which activates the channel information of the image and enhances the ability to recognise the segmentation targets. The third is the Multiscale Dilated Convolution module, which uses multi‐scale dilated convolution to strengthen the ability and to extract the image details. After experiments, their model performs best on GlaS and MoNuseg datasets, which can segment image details better and avoid redundant information, and the Dice coefficient reaches 91.92% on GlaS and 81.8% on MoNuSeg.

Abstract Background The advanced lung cancer inflammation index (ALI) is a comprehensive assessment indicator that can reflect inflammation and nutrition conditions. However, there are some controversies about whether ALI is an independent prognostic factor for gastrointestinal cancer patients undergoing surgical resection. Thus, we aimed to clarify its prognostic value and explore the potential mechanisms. Methods Four databases including PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and CNKI were used for searching eligible studies from inception to June 28, 2022. All gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC), gastric cancer (GC), esophageal cancer (EC), liver cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer were enrolled for analysis. We focused on prognosis most in the current meta-analysis. Survival indicators, including overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and cancer-special survival (CSS) were compared between the high ALI group and the low ALI group. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist was submitted as a supplementary document. Results We finally included fourteen studies involving 5091 patients in this meta-analysis. IntroductionAinaxiang (Blumea balsamifera (Linn.) DC.) is cultivated for the extraction of (-)-borneol and other pharmaceutical raw materials due to its abundant volatile oil. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the structural basis and composition of volatile oil accumulation in fresh B. balsamifera leaves.MethodsTo address this problem, we compare the fresh leaves’ morphology, microstructure, and volatile metabonomic at different development stages, orderly defined from the recently unfolded young stage (S1) to the senescent stage (S4).Results and discussionDistinct differences were observed in the macro-appearance and microstructure at each stage, particularly in the B. balsamifera glandular trichomes (BbGTs) distribution. This specialized structure may be responsible for the accumulation of volatile matter. 213 metabolites were identified through metabolomic analysis, which exhibited spatiotemporal accumulation patterns among different stages. Notably, (-)-borneol was enriched at S1, while 10 key odor metabolites associated with the characteristic balsamic, borneol, fresh, and camphor aromas of B. balsamifera were enriched in S1 and S2. Ultra-microstructural examination revealed the involvement of chloroplasts, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and vacuoles in the synthesizing, transporting, and storing essential oils. These findings confirm that BbGTs serve as the secretory structures in B. balsamifera, with the population and morphology of BbGTs potentially serving as biomarkers for (-)-borneol accumulation. Overall, young B. balsamifera leaves with dense BbGTs represent a rich (-)-borneol source, while mesophyll cells contribute to volatile oil accumulation. These findings reveal the essential oil accumulation characteristics in B. balsamifera, providing a foundation for further understanding.

A doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) configured for crowbar protection faces the following problems during low voltage ride through (LVRT): delayed input of crowbar protection and the difficulty in coordinating current limiting targets and DC voltage overrun with constant resistance rectification. A low voltage protection method of a DFIG based on a rotor-side double current limiting circuit is proposed. The rotor current characteristics during a fault are analyzed from a time domain perspective and used as a basis for resistance setting. The transient response characteristics of a resistive superconducting fault current limiter (RSFCL) are used for fast initial suppression of rotor currents. The adaptive crowbar resistance adjustment method is used to realize the coordinated consideration of current limiting and DC voltage non-overrun. The simulation results show that the proposed protection method effectively shortens the actual input time of the current limiting circuit and has good suppression ability for the rotor current at the early stage of fault. The adaptive and flexible resistance setting of the controllable crowbar circuit ensures that the DC voltage does not exceed the limit during the fault current limiting period, which helps improve the LVRT capability of doubly fed wind turbines.

In the rosacea an unstable skin microbiota is significant for disease progression. However, data on the influence on the skin microbiota of treatment with systemic antibiotics are limited. This single-arm trial recruited patients with rosacea. Oral minocycline 50 mg was administered twice daily for 6 weeks. The lesions on the cheek and nose were sampled for 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing and metagenomic sequencing at baseline, 3 weeks and 6 weeks of treatment. Physiological parameters were detected using non-invasive instruments. After treatment, distribution of the Investigator Global Assessment scores changed significantly. For the skin microbiota, a notable increase in α-diversity and a shift of structure were observed after treatment. Treatment was accompanied by a reduction in the relative abundance of Cutibacterium and Staphylococcus, indicating negative correlations with increased bacterial metabolic pathways, such as butyrate synthesis and L-tryptophan degradation. The increased butyrate and tryptophan metabolites would be conducive to inhibiting skin inflammation and promoting skin barrier repair. In addition, the abundance of skin bacterial genes related to tetracycline resistance and multidrug resistance increased notably after antibiotic treatment.

Abstract Cenococcum geophilum (C. geophilum) is a widely distributed ectomycorrhizal fungus that plays a crucial role in forest ecosystems worldwide. However, the specific ecological factors influencing its global distribution and how climate change will affect its range are still relatively unknown. In this study, we used the MaxEnt model optimized with the kuenm package to simulate changes in the distribution pattern of C. geophilum from the Last Glacial Maximum to the future based on 164 global distribution records and 17 environmental variables and investigated the key environmental factors influencing its distribution. We employed the optimal parameter combination of RM = 4 and FC = QPH, resulting in a highly accurate predictive model. Our study clearly shows that the mean temperature of the coldest quarter and annual precipitation are the key environmental factors influencing the suitable habitats of C. geophilum. Currently, appropriate habitats of C. geophilum are mainly distributed in eastern Asia, west‐central Europe, the western seaboard and eastern regions of North America, and southeastern Australia, covering a total area of approximately 36,578,300 km2 globally. During the Last Glacial Maximum and the mid‐Holocene, C. geophilum had a much smaller distribution area, being mainly concentrated in the Qinling‐Huaihe Line region of China and eastern Peninsular Malaysia. As global warming continues, the future suitable habitat for C. geophilum is projected to shift northward, leading to an expected expansion of the suitable area from 9.21% to 21.02%. This study provides a theoretical foundation for global conservation efforts and biogeographic understanding of C. geophilum, offering new insights into its distribution patterns and evolutionary trends.
