Neurocysticercosis (NCC), one of the most important neuroparasitic diseases in humans, is caused by Cysticercus cellulosae, the metacestode stage of digenetic zoonotic cestode Taenia solium. The present study aims at the detection of anti-cysticercus antibodies in the sera of epileptic patients (n=26) visiting a tertiary care hospital in Nagpur, Maharashtra state, India, by an in-house developed indirect IgG-ELISA and enzyme-linked immunoelectro transfer blot (EITB) assay using different antigens (namely, Whole Cyst Antigen (WCA), Cystic Fluid Antigen (CFA), Scolex Antigen (SA), Excretory-Secretory Antigen (ESA) and Membrane-Body Antigen (MBA)) prepared from T. solium metacestodes to find out the status of NCC. An attempt has also been made for molecular detection of NCC from blood samples of those patients by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay targeted at large subunit rRNA gene of T. solium. The IgG ELISA level of anti-cysticercus antibodies against WCA, CFA, SA, ESA and MBA antigens were as follows: 19.23 %, 23.07 %, 38.46 %, 30.76 % and 15.38 %. The seroreactivity to CFA, SA and ESA was found in equal proportions in patients with ring-enhancing lesions. In the EITB assay, the lower and medium molecular weight protein bands of SA and ESA were immunodominant compared to the higher WCA and CFA peptides. PCR positivity could be observed in 34.6 % (9/26) of the patients under study. It is the first report of detecting NCC among epileptic patients of the Nagpur region of Maharashtra state in India using serological and molecular tools.

Electrical Engineering and Systems Science - Signal Processing - Abstract
Current air pollution monitoring systems are bulky and expensive resulting in a very sparse deployment. In addition, the data from these monitoring stations may not be easily accessible. This paper focuses on studying the dense deployment based air pollution monitoring using IoT enabled low-cost sensor nodes. For this, total nine low-cost IoT nodes monitoring particulate matter (PM), which is one of the most dominant pollutants, are deployed in a small educational campus in Indian city of Hyderabad. Out of these, eight IoT nodes were developed at IIIT-H while one was bought off the shelf. A web based dashboard website is developed to easily monitor the real-time PM values. The data is collected from these nodes for more than five months. Different analyses such as correlation and spatial interpolation are done on the data to understand efficacy of dense deployment in better understanding the spatial variability and time-dependent changes to the local pollution indicators., Comment: Submitted to PIMRC 2020

Background: Diabetic foot ulcers and infections are a common complication of diabetes. Holistic patient care requires dissemination of knowledge about prevention to avoid amputation and associated morbidity, early diagnosis and apt treatment. Healthcare costs of diabetic ulcers are high as complete treatment requires long term monitoring and high cost of rehabilitation in amputees. Methods: The study design is retrospective observational study. All data was retrospectively procured from the Medical Record Department. From January 2019 to December 2019, two hundred and twenty patients with diabetic foot infections who had been treated with oral or parenteral antibiotics in the previous 5 to 15 days were chosen. Results: The gram negative bacteria (88%) were most commonly isolated. Gram positive organisms contributed to 11% and candida spp. to 1% of swab culture. All patients with Staphylococci in wound swab were 100% sensitivity to vancomycin & linezolid. Teicoplanin, vancomycin, and clindamycin had 100% sensitivity against MRSA in wound swab. Patients with E. coli in wound swab had maximum sensitivity to colistin. Ceftriaxone which has been used conventionally was found less sensitive for E. coli and Klebsiella. Conclusion: Piperacillin tazobactam combination for gram negative coverage in accordance to sensitivity pattern of community acquired infection is recommended because conventionally used ceftriaxone is less sensitive. For gram positive diabetic foot ulcers/ infections which were seen to be hospital acquired, linezolid is recommended for full course.

In this work cotton and polyester fabric were coated with silica nano particles using pad-dry-cure method. The prepared composite fabrics were analyzed in terms of change in their thermal degradation properties. The oxidative degradation characteristic of control and treated samples were studied using Thermo Gravimetric technique. The mass loss profile of untreated fabric compared with treated fabric. The results indicate that the thermal degradation rate was lower in treated sample as compare to control fabrics.

LEGUMES ,ENDEMIC plants ,GERMPLASM ,VIGNA ,TRADITIONAL knowledge - Abstract
"Gadmal" is one of the important pulse crops of the local people living in the southern parts of Betul, Madhya Pradesh, India. An expedition was undertaken in December, 2022 to gather germplasm of gadmal from Betul, a district lying almost wholly on the Satpura plateau. From the results of a structured questionnaire administered to gadmal cultivating farmers in targeted villages, it seemed that gadmal is the pulse crop cultivated in this region by tribal farmers. Gadmal is being used as split pulse, chapati and vada preparations by the farmers. The food items and recipes prepared from the gadmal are traditionally offered to tribal Gods. However, the area under this crop is shrinking due to severe infestation of yellow mosaic disease. Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBPGR) has collected and conserved a specimen in the National Herbarium of Cultivated Plants (Herbarium specimen, HS25749). On-spot evaluation of morphological traits was done across the locations. The study was undertaken for preliminary morphological, biochemical and molecular assessment. Based on preliminary evaluation, gadmal seems to be closer to blackgram than other cultivated Vigna species. However, detailed taxonomic studies are required to validate the identity using morpho-molecular tools. An exploratory note was presented with indigenous traditional knowledge along with cultural practices and economic uses. The work aimed to facilitate germplasm collection, detailed evaluation and systematic study of this valuable material with the prospects of crop diversification and value addition. The preliminary morphological, biochemical and molecular profiling of collected accessions being undertaken by us will provide avenues for better utilization and recognition of this crop. Efforts are being made to document the traditional knowledge and facilitate the tribal community for germplasm registration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Condensed Matter - Strongly Correlated Electrons ,Condensed Matter - Materials Science - Abstract
Electronic states of PrCoO$_3$ are studied using x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. Pr 3d$_{5/2}$ core level and valence band (VB) were recorded using Mg K$_\beta$ source. The core level spectrum shows that the 3d$_{5/2}$ level is split into two components of multiplicity 4 and 2, respectively due to coupling of the spin states of the hole in 3d$_{5/2}$ with Pr 4f holes spin state. The observed splitting is 4.5 eV. The VB spectrum is interpreted using density of states (DOS) calculations under LDA and LDA+U. It is noted that LDA is not sufficient to explain the observed VB spectrum. Inclusion of on-site Coulomb correlation for Co 3d electrons in LDA+U calculations gives DOS which is useful in qualitative explanation of the ground state. However, it is necessary to include interactions between Pr 4f electrons to get better agreement with experimental VB spectrum. It is seen that the VB consists of Pr 4f, Co 3d and O 2p states. Pr 4f, Co 3d and O 2p bands are highly mixed indicating strong hybridization of these three states. The band near the Fermi level has about equal contributions from Pr 4f and O 2p states with somewhat smaller contribution from Co 3d states. Thus in the Zaanen, Sawatzky, and Allen scheme PrCoO$_3$ can be considered as charge transfer insulator. The charge transfer energy $\Delta$ can be obtained using LDA DOS calculations and the Coulomb-exchange energy U' from LDA+U. The explicit values for PrCoO$_3$ are $\Delta$ = 3.9 eV and U' = 5.5 eV; the crystal field splitting and 3d bandwidth of Co ions are also found to be 2.8 and 1.8 eV, respectively., Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures; to appear J. CLOUD storage ,IMAGE segmentation ,FEATURE extraction - Abstract
Increased growth of real-life communication has motivated the creation, transmission, and digital storage of vast volumes of images and video data on the cloud. The explosive increase in virtual/visual image data on cloud servers requires efficient storage utilization that can be addressed using image deduplication technology. Even though the virtual and visual image properties are different, the existing literature uses a similar approach for deduplication checks, which motivated us to consider both image types for this review. This article aims to provide a detailed survey of state-of-the-art visuals as well as virtual image deduplication techniques in a cloud environment, summarizing and organizing them by developing a fivedimensional taxonomy for analysing the features and performance with several nonoverlapping categories in each dimension. These include: 1) location of applying deduplication; 2) image feature extraction; 3) time of application; 4) image data partitioning strategy; 5) involvement of user dataset level. Existing image deduplication techniques are categorized into two main categories based on whether the technique involves security. A comparison of techniques is discussed across a set of functional and performance parameters. The current issues are highlighted with the possible future directions to motivate further research studies on the topic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is a chronic metabolic disorder that results from defects in both insulin secretion and insulin action. Recently, United Kingdom Prospective Diabetes Study reported that Type-II DM is a progressive disorder. Although, DM can be treated initially by monotherapy with oral agent; eventually, it may require multiple drugs. Additionally, insulin therapy is needed in many patients to achieve glycemic control. Pharmacological approaches are unsatisfactory in improving the consequences of insulin resistance. Single therapeutic approach in the treatment of Type-II DM is unsuccessful and usually a combination therapy is adopted. Increased understanding of biochemical, cellular and pathological alterations in Type-II DM has provided new insight in the management of Type-II DM. Knowledge of underlying mechanisms of Type-II DM development is essential for the exploration of novel therapeutic targets. Present review provides an insight into therapeutic targets of Type-II DM and their role in the development of insulin resistance. An overview of important signaling pathways and mechanisms in Type-II DM is provided for the better understanding of disease pathology. This review includes case studies of drugs that are withdrawn from the market. The experience gathered from previous studies and knowledge of Type-II DM pathways can guide the anti-diabetic drug development toward the discovery of clinically viable drugs that are useful in Type-II DM.Keywords: Type-II diabetes mellitus, therapeutic targets, discontinued drugs, insulin resistance

- Abstract
In this paper our sole aim is to introduce the Restricted cascade product of fuzzy finite state machines without the condition of completeness which was very much needed for Restricted cascade product of fuzzy finite switchboard state machines. The authors also aim to verify the properties of this product with all other products such as Full direct product, restricted direct product, cascade product, wreath product, cartesian product, direct sum and sum with respect to the notions of isomorphism and covering. SOIL microbial ecology ,BACTERIAL communities ,NUTRIENT cycles ,GREENHOUSE gases ,CLIMATE change mitigation ,ACID phosphatase ,CROPPING systems - Abstract
Soil microbial communities are important drivers of biogeochemical cycling of nutrients, organic matter decomposition, soil organic carbon, and Greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs: CO2, N2O, and CH4) and are influenced by crop and soil management practices. The knowledge on the impact of conservation agriculture (CA) on soil bacterial diversity, nutrient availability, and GHG emissions in semiarid regions under rainfed conditions is vital to develop sustainable agricultural practices, but such information has not been systemically documented. Hence, studies were conducted for 10 years in rainfed pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L.)-- castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) cropping system under semi-arid conditions to assess the effects of tillage and crop residue levels on the soil bacterial diversity, enzyme activity (Dehydrogenase, urease, acid phosphatase, and alkaline phosphatase), GHG emissions, and soil available nutrients (Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium). Sequencing of soil DNA through Illumina HiSeqbased 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing technology has revealed that bacterial community responded to both tillage and residue levels. The relative abundance of Actinobacteria in terms of Operational Taxonomic Unit (OTUs) at phyla, class as well as genera level was higher in CA (NTR1: No Tillage + 10 cm anchored residue and NTR2 NT + 30 cm anchored residue) over CT (conventional tillage without crop residues). CA resulted in higher enzyme activities (dehydrogenase, urease, acid phosphatase, and alkaline phosphatase) and reduction in GHG emissions over CT. CA recorded 34% higher and 3% lower OC, as compared to CT, and CTR1, respectively. CA recorded 10, 34, and 26% higher available nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium over CT and CTR1, respectively. NTR1 recorded 25 and 38% lower N2O emissions as compared to CTR1 and CTR2, respectively. Whereas only NT recorded 12% higher N2O emissions as compared to CT. Overall, the results of the study indicate that CA improves the relative abundance of soil bacterial communities, nutrient availability, and enzyme activities, and may help to contribute to the mitigation of climate change, and sustainability in rainfed areas.
