This beer stein features a depiction of Germania. She has long flowing red hair, a laurel wreath on her head, is carrying a sword in her right hand and a shield with the Prussian coat of arms in the left hand. Her dress also bears the coat of arms on it. At her feet is a pile of items: the black, white and red flag of the German Empire, a black goat, along with multiple weapons and instruments. Emerging from this pile is a blue marker that has the number "40" on it in red. In the background to the left of Germania is a white flag with a black dove on it, as well as six soldiers who have made camp in front of a castle in the distance. Below the soldiers is black text in German that reads, "Hoch die tapfere Infanterie Auf den Posten spät und früh!," loosely translated as "The brave infantry is on the post late and early." On the right side of Germania are six soldiers wielding weapons, with plumes of white smoke behind them. Underneath the soldiers in German is written, "In des Gefechtes Mitte stehin wir wie Mauern fest, für Deutschlands Ruhm und Ehre, für Vaterland und Fürst," loosely translating to "In the middle of the battle we stonewall [the enemy], for Germany's glory and honor, for the fatherland and the Prince." Towards the bottom of the stein there is text that includes the name of the Prussian Infantry regiment, "Füs.[ilier]-Rgt, Fürst Karl Anton v. Hohenzollern (Hohenzoll.) No. 40 Aachen," as well as possible production years of "1906/08." On either side of the handle of the stein is a list of names in cursive, black text, presumably of those in the No. 40 regiment. Above the main painting on the stein is a rounded brown leaf motif and the upper rim, which bears the words "Wer treu gedient hat seine Zeit, dem sei ein volles Glas geweiht," translation, "who has faithfully served his time, to him a full glass is dedicated." The bottom of the stein has the same rounded brown leaf motif, with what looks to be a name written on it in black text. Though there is no longer a lid to the stein, there are holes to indicate that it did have a lid at one point. The inside of the bottom of the stein has raised white figures of a man and a woman carved into it.
