Unconventional superconductors that spontaneously break space-group symmetries of their underlying crystal lattice are distinguished by spatial modulations of the superconducting order parameter. These states have recently captured significant attention in various strongly correlated materials, where the breaking of translational or intra-unit-cell symmetries results in the emergence of pair density waves with wavelengths extending across one or multiple unit cells. Here, we employ a spectroscopic-imaging scanning tunneling microscope to identify robust half-unit-cell modulations of the superconducting gap magnitude, coherence strength and subgap states in tunable 1T$^{\prime}$-MoTe$_2$ monolayer. The modulations are oriented perpendicular to the zigzag Mo chains and coexist with three-unit-cell primary pair density wave modulations along the Mo chains, both of which attenuate with increasing temperature and the application of external magnetic fields. Importantly, we find that the superconductivity modulations are strongly linked to unconventional electron pairing mechanisms, which significantly deviate from the Cooper pairing observed in traditional Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer superconductors. The significant discrepancy in the difference of squared nuclear charge radii $\Delta R^2$ of $^{3,4}$He obtained from electronic-atom or muonic-atom energy levels is a puzzle. In this paper, we show that the tension is resolved by including off-diagonal mixing effects due to the hyperfine interaction. Our findings indicate that the hyperfine mixing effect from the $n\,^3\!S$ and $n\,^1\!S$ states ($n>2$) of $^3$He leads to a $-1.37$ kHz adjustment in the isotope shift of the $2\,^1\!S-2\,^3\!S$ transition, surpassing the current uncertainty by a factor of $7$. This results in a change of $-0.0064~\rm{fm}^2$ in $\Delta R^2$, shifting from $1.0757(15)~\mathrm{fm}^2$ to $1.0693(15)~\mathrm{fm}^2$ as determined by Werf {\it et al.}, significantly reducing the discrepancy with the value of $1.0636(31)~\mathrm{fm}^2$ determined by $\mu\rm{He}^+$, and aligning with the result of $1.069(3)$ $\mathrm{fm}^2$ obtained from the $2\,^3\!S-2\,^3\!P$ transition. This adjustment will result in a noticeable change in the absolute nuclear charge radius of $^{3}$He by $-0.0017~\rm{fm}$, aligning the revised value of $1.9715(11)~\mathrm{fm}$ with the value of $1.97007(94)~\mathrm{fm}$ determined by $\mu^3\rm{He}^+$ within $1\sigma$. Our results offer crucial insights into resolving discrepancy in $\Delta R^2$ for $^{3,4}$He and determining the charge radius of $^3$He.

The periodic flashing potential has proven to be a powerful tool for investigating directed atomic currents. By applying the flashing ring-shaped potential to spin-orbit (SO) coupled, noninteracting Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) systems, through photon-assisted tunneling (resonance) techniques, we demonstrate the generation of tunable alternating (AC) spin and atomic mass currents that can be precisely controlled in terms of direction and strength. The underlying mechanism behind this phenomenon is that the flashing potential supplies enough photons to induce Rabi oscillations and provides momentum transfer for spin and atomic transport. As the single-particle ground state of the unperturbed SO-coupled BEC depends on the Raman coupling strength, we demonstrate how to generate and control AC spin currents in the cases where the initial state resides in a single-well or double-well phase. In particular, we realize and explain the mechanism of generating a net AC spin current without mass current through single-photon resonance processes. It is shown that these interesting resonance phenomena can be analytically described only by the simple three-level model, which creates the possibility of transparent controls of spin dynamics., Comment: 10 pages, 6figures

The optical Ramsey technique is used to obtain precise measurements of the hyperfine splittings in the $2\,^3\!S_1$ and $2\,^3\!P_J$ states of $^7$Li$^+$. Together with bound-state quantum electrodynamic theory, the Zemach radius and quadrupole moment of the $^7$Li nucleus are determined to be $3.35(1)$~fm and $-3.86(5)$~fm$^2$ respectively, with the quadrupole moment deviating from the recommended value of $-4.00(3)$~fm$^2$ by $1.75\sigma$. Furthermore, we determine the quadrupole moment ratio of $^6$Li to $^7$Li as $0.101(13)$, exhibiting a $6\sigma$ deviation from the previous measured value of $0.020161(13)$ by LiF molecular spectroscopy. The results taken together provide a sensitive test of nuclear structure models.

In this work we demonstrate how the directed motion of atomic Bose-Einstein condensates in a toroidal trap can be controlled by applying a zero-mean oscillatory driving field. We show that due to the self-trapping effect in momentum space, the oscillatory amplitude of the current can be significantly suppressed and a nearly constant directed current can be obtained preserving the initial current values, by decreasing the driving amplitude, even when the atomic interactions are relatively small. We also reveal numerically the mean-field chaos can serve as an indicator of a quantum phase transition between the vanishing current regime and nonvanishing current regime. In this paper, we investigate the spin and tunneling dynamics of a spin-orbit-coupled noninteracting Bose-Einstein condensate in a periodically driven non-Hermitian double-well potential. Under high-frequency driving, we obtain the effective time-averaged Hamiltonian by using the standard time-averaging method, and analytically calculate the Floquet quasienergies, revealing that the parity-time (PT)-breaking phase transition appears even for arbitrarily small non-Hermitian parameters when the spin-orbit coupling strength takes half-integer value, irrespective of the values of other parameters used. When the system is PT-symmetric with balanced gain and loss, we find numerically and analytically that in the broken PT-symmetric regions, there will exist the net spin current together with a vanishing atomic current, if we drop the contribution of the exponential growth of the norm to the current behaviors. When the system is non-PT-symmetric, though the quasienergies are partial complex, a stable net spin current can be generated by controlling the periodic driving field, which is accompanied by a spatial localization of the condensate in the well with gain. In this paper, we present a rigorous analysis of symmetry and underlying physics of the nonlinear two-mode system driven by a harmonic mixing field, by means of multiple scale asymptotic analysis method. The effective description in the framework of the second-order perturbative theory provides an accurate picture for understanding the Floquet eigenspectrum and dynamical features of the nonlinear two-mode system, showing full agreement with the prediction of symmetry considerations. We find that two types of symmetries play significant role in the dynamical features of this model, the mechanism behind which can be interpreted in terms of the effective description. The results are of relevance for the phase control of the atomic localization in Bose-Einstein condensates or switch of the optical signals in nonlinear mediums., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

The hyperfine structures of the $2\,^3\!S_1$ and $2\,^3\!P_J$ states of the $^7$Be$^{2+}$ and $^9$Be$^{2+}$ ions are investigated within the framework of the nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics (NRQED). The uncertainties of present hyperfine splitting results of $^9$Be$^{2+}$ are in the order of several tens of ppm, where two orders of magnitude improvement over the previous theory and experiment values has been achieved. The contribution of nuclear electric quadrupole moment to hyperfine splitting of $^7$Be$^{2+}$ has been studied. A scheme for determining the properties of Be nuclei in terms of Zemach radius or the electric quadrupole moment based on precise spectra is proposed, and it opens a new window for the study of Be nuclei.

In this paper, we show that for sufficiently strong atomic interactions, there exist analytical solutions of current-carrying nonlinear Bloch states at the Brillouin zone edge to the model of spin-orbit-coupled Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) with symmetric spin interaction loaded into optical lattices. These simple but generic exact solutions provide an analytical demonstration of some intriguing properties which have neither an analog in the regular BEC lattice systems nor in the uniform spin-orbit-coupled BEC systems.
