The basic design course mainly focuses on training students in their form development ability, including two parts: graphic figure and three-dimensional form. However, in terms of form development, it is not just to create a certain form arbitrarily, but to convey the creator's intention based on this form. For students who are new to the field of design, it will be very difficult to convey their own ideas through creative forms. Therefore, this research combines abstract design with three-dimensional composition to develop a new teaching method, which connects two parts of graphic figure and three-dimensional form together, and divides them into three stages: abstract design, unit model and combined model. In addition to allowing students to learn comprehensively, they can also understand how to design a form that can convey their own views and lay a good foundation for future design courses. After the course, the three stages have a positive impact on students. Students will have a new understanding of design, have greater interest and confidence in design, and understand the entire process of design (data collection, analysis, ideation and production) and the importance of teamwork.

Traditionally, users have perceived that only manual laborers or those in repetitive jobs would be subject to technological substitution. However, with the emergence of technologies like Midjourney, ChatGPT, and Notion AI, known as Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC), we have come to realize that cognitive laborers, particularly creative designers, also face similar professional challenges. Yet, there has been relatively little research analyzing the acceptance and trust of artificial intelligence from the perspective of designers. This study integrates the TAM/TPB behavioral measurement model, incorporating intrinsic characteristics of designers, to delineate their perceived risks of AIGC into functional and emotional dimensions. It explores how these perceived characteristics, risks, and trust influence designers' behavioral intentions, employing structural equation modeling for validation. The findings reveal the following: (1) designer trust is the primary factor influencing their behavioral choices; (2) different dimensions of perceived risks have varying degrees of impact on trust, with functional risks significantly positively affecting trust compared to emotional risks; (3) only by enhancing the transparency and credibility of Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) can the perceived characteristics of designers be elevated; and (4) only by effectively safeguarding designers' legitimate rights and interests can perceived risks be significantly reduced, thereby enhancing trust and subsequently prompting actual behavioral intentions. This study not only enhances the applicability and suitability of AIGC across various industries but also provides evidence for the feasibility of intelligent design in the creative design industry, facilitating the transition of AIGC to Artificial Intelligence-Generated Design (AIGD) for industrial upgrading. This paper aims to explore the narrative expression skill of design students through manipulating image structure. Moreover, narrative expression is the skill of interpreting design with narrative. The study is a classroom experiment conducted naturally, and the experimental data is obtained and analysed by quantitative analysis. We found differences in students' narrative tendencies and richness in overall narrative expression. The teaching and training of design narrative can effectively help students familiarise themselves with the design process and personal skill integration and encourage students to pay attention to the design of elements and content. This will improve students' design competencies under skills different from technology. The paper concludes that students must improve and integrate design competencies through practical methods under other narrative tendencies. Furthermore, the lecturer can explore and adjust design teaching through design narrative training to strengthen or balance students' design performance competency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Many forms of Intangible Culture Heritage (ICH) are fast disappearing. The Lantern Festival is an important part of Chinese tradition and a critical ICH of Taiwan. However, few young people attend ICH activities. Given the importance of ICH education, this study describes what participants learned after lantern exhibitions that combined Augmented Reality (AR), mobile websites, and Paper-based Exhibition Brochures. This study evaluated what a cohort of college students (n = 115) learned about ICH through experiments and questionnaires. The results show that the public understood ICH better through digital technology. All participants thought that applying AR to ICH was good for the public to gain more information on lantern culture, although it took a lot of time to learn the new technology. The results also encouraged the application of AR to engage in ICH education. Therefore, a large number of digital technologies that are popular among young people should be used as part of ICH education in order to improve their cultural awareness and learning motivation. Taiwan has actively promoted the concept of 'cultural and creative industry' since 2002. While industry, government, and academia have actively invested resources, policies and developmental directions still have many uncertainties in production, government and education. As a result, the focus of industrial design of cultural and creative products, is difficult to forecast regarding the direction of future developments. This study uses a semi-structured interview method to research the commonality of Taiwan's cultural and creative products perceptions and development. This will facilitate an understanding of the challenges and future trends in the development of Taiwan's cultural and creative products from the perspective of industrial design. After interviewing experts, we see how Taiwan's cultural and creative products are not only limited to product design issues, but also an integration of production, manufacturing and service ideas of the entire system. Due to advanced technologies, the digital convenience of information dissemination , and prevalence of cultural interactions, the development of cultural and creative products with 'common and integrated' characteristics will become a trend in the future. In this article, we sought to determine whether perceived enjoyment (PE), perceived ease of use (PEOU), and perceived usefulness (PU) impacted children's attitude toward using an augmented reality mobile application (app) to search for books in a smart library. We used an experiment and a questionnaire survey to measure the perceptions of 238 children of the proposed app. Structural equation modeling was applied in conjunction with the technology acceptance model and flow theory to analyze the collected data. Participants tended to take less notice of their spatial context while using the app and rather focused on their experience of the route. Children's attitudes toward the app were most influenced by PEOU, followed by PE, and PU. This article provides evidence that children with limited cognition abilities using ego-centered navigation to find selected targets tend to emphasize PEOU and thus prioritize processing temporal concepts over emotional and spatial concepts. Background and Objectives: Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and high bone fragility. Findings regarding the association of coffee and tea intake with osteoporosis have been inconsistent. We conducted this meta-analysis to investigate whether coffee and tea intake is associated with low bone mineral density (BMD) and high hip fracture risk. Materials and Methods: PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase were searched for relevant studies published before 2022. Studies on the effects of coffee/tea intake on hip fracture/BMD were included in our meta-analysis, whereas those focusing on specific disease groups and those with no relevant coffee/tea intake data were excluded. We assessed mean difference (MD; for BMD) and pooled hazard ratio (HR; for hip fracture) values with 95% confidence interval (CI) values. The cohort was divided into high- and low-intake groups considering the thresholds of 1 and 2 cups/day for tea and coffee, respectively. Results: Our meta-analysis included 20 studies comprising 508,312 individuals. The pooled MD was 0.020 for coffee (95% CI, −0.003 to 0.044) and 0.039 for tea (95% CI, −0.012 to 0.09), whereas the pooled HR was 1.008 for coffee (95% CI, 0.760 to 1.337) and 0.93 for tea (95% CI, 0.84 to 1.03). Conclusions: Our meta-analysis results suggest that daily coffee or tea consumption is not associated with BMD or hip fracture risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Effects of shape, size, and chromaticity of stimuli on participants' errors when estimating the size of simultaneously presented standard and comparison stimuli were examined. 48 Taiwanese college students ages 20 to 24 years old (M=22.3, SD = 1.3) participated. Analysis showed that the error for estimated size was significantly greater for those in the low-vision group than for those in the normal-vision and severe-myopia groups. The errors were significantly greater with green and blue stimuli than with red stimuli. Circular stimuli produced smaller mean errors than did square stimuli. The actual size of the standard stimulus significantly affected the error for estimated size. Errors for estimations using smaller sizes were significantly higher than when the sizes were larger. Implications of the results for graphics-based interface design, particularly when taking account of visually impaired users, are discussed. DOI 10.2466/PMS.110.3.931-940

Microinteractions are presented with dynamic effects through the joint operation of external performance and internal mechanisms, allowing users to produce a variety of emotion and perception. In this study, we focus on microinteraction with functional effects and aim to explore the perception of microinteraction with different functional attributes. To understand the emotional tendency of microinteractions, 14 groups of typical contradictory semantics adjectives were selected, and two main factors were extracted: "hedonic" related to deep emotional enjoyment and "effectiveness" with highly effective characteristics. Among them, the "hedonic factor" has a high impact in microinteraction design, suggesting that the user's cognition of microinteraction mainly depends on the arousal of emotion and stimulates emotion using animation. Second, this study carried out an emotional comparison on representative microinteraction samples. The results indicate that feedback that caters to psychological feelings of realistic characteristics can strengthen a sense of connection between humans and computers and that continuity and consistency created by interface narrative can also contribute to a complete and exquisite interface.
