Abstract

In this work, we adopt a low-temperature sustainable plasma treatment approach for the fabrication of ferroelectric memory devices. From our experimental results, we found that the ferroelectric polarization characteristics of HfAlO _x ferroelectric device could be further improved by using low-temperature nitrogen plasma treatment on bottom TiN electrode for surface modification. The low-temperature nitrogen plasma treatment on TiN bottom electrode not only prevent electrode oxidation, but also lowers the generation of defect traps at the interface between ferroelectric HfAlO _x and TiN bottom electrode during high-temperature ferroelectric annealing process. Besides, the nitrogen-treated bottom electrode also can improve bias-stress induced instability and cycling endurance of HfAlO _x ferroelectric devices due to the effective suppression of randomly distributed defect traps or oxygen vacancies near the surface of bottom electrode.

Abstract

In this work, we investigate the ferroelectricity of stacked zirconium oxide and hafnium oxide (stacked HfZrO) with different thickness ratios under metal gate stress and simultaneously evaluate the electrical reliability of stacked ferroelectric films. Based on experimental results, we find that the stacked HfZrO films not only exhibited excellent ferroelectricity but also demonstrated a high performance on reliability. The optimized condition of the 45% Zr proportion exhibited a robust ferroelectric polarization value of 32.57 μC/cm2, and a polarization current with a peak value of 159.98 μA. Besides this, the ferroelectric stacked HfZrO also demonstrated good reliability with a ten-year lifetime under >−2 V constant voltage stress. Therefore, the appropriate modulation of zirconium proportion in stacked HfZrO showed great promise for integrating in high-performance ferroelectric memory.

Abstract

A forced dried droplet method (FDD) is developed to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional dried-droplet (DD) method for matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) sample preparation. The crystals produced by the DD method are heterogeneous and irregularly distributed, and thus many methods have tried to solve the problems. However, most of them spend more time or need additional instruments to generate homogeneous microcrystals. The FDD sample preparation method can produce uniform microcrystals with homogeneous size distribution in few minutes without additional instruments. Stirring the sample spot solution (an agitation process) with a pipette tip can change the crystal size distribution which is observed by the microscope. Mass spectrometric analysis shows that the smaller the crystal size is, the better the ion signal intensity is. The formation of microcrystals can be explained with the effective rate of secondary nucleation. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the FDD method is ∼16% which is comparable to the two-layer (TL) method and is better than the DD method.

42. CPEB3-dowregulated Nr3c1mRNA translation confers resilience to developing posttraumatic stress disorder-like behavior in fear-conditioned mice

Abstract

Susceptibility or resilience to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) depends on one’s ability to appropriately adjust synaptic plasticity for coping with the traumatic experience. Activity-regulated mRNA translation synthesizes plasticity-related proteins to support long-term synaptic changes and memory. Hence, cytoplasmic polyadenylation element-binding protein 3-knockout (CPEB3-KO) mice, showing dysregulated translation-associated synaptic rigidity, may be susceptible to PTSD-like behavior. Here, using a context-dependent auditory fear conditioning and extinction paradigm, we found that CPEB3-KO mice exhibited traumatic intensity-dependent PTSD-like fear memory. A genome-wide screen of CPEB3-bound transcripts revealed that Nr3c1, encoding glucocorticoid receptor (GR), was translationally suppressed by CPEB3. Thus, CPEB3-KO neurons with elevated GR expression exhibited increased corticosterone-induced calcium influx and decreased mRNA and protein levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (Bdnf). Moreover, the reduced expression of BDNF was associated with increased GR level during fear extinction in CPEB3-KO hippocampi. Intracerebroventricular delivery of BDNF before extinction training mitigated spontaneous fear intrusion in CPEB3-KO mice during extinction recall. Analysis of two GEO datasets revealed decreased transcriptomic expression of CPEB3but not NR3C1in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of humans with PTSD. Collectively, this study reveals that CPEB3, as a potential PTSD-risk gene, downregulates Nr3c1translation to maintain proper GR-BDNF signaling for fear extinction.

The assignment problem is to assign a frequency to each transmitter such that total bandwidth of assigned frequencies can be minimised. In this paper, we present upper and lower bounds of the minimum bandwidth of cycles and powers of cycles. We also show the corresponding assignment functions.
