Splash advertisements have been one of the most fastest-growing advertising in mobile apps. Given the intrusiveness of ads, mobile splash advertisements introduced skip control as an interactive design to increase users' active role in advertising. This study aims to explore how skip control of splash advertisements affects ad effectiveness, given the moderating role of user habit. This research opted for an experimental approach by using a self-developed mobile app. The study conducted three experiments by randomly launching splash advertisement conditions (i.e., skippable ad vs. non-skippable ad, top skip button vs. bottom skip button, and countdown timer vs. non-countdown timer). In total, 505 participants representing the characteristics of Chinese mobile users were recruited in three experiments. The findings show that each design of skip control has different effects on ad effectiveness in terms of ad acceptance and avoidance. Additionally, the type of user habits (i.e., clicking, watching, and skipping habits) has positive moderating effects on the relationship between different designs of skip control and ad effectiveness. Although researchers have devoted great effort to explore the antecedents of altruistic behaviours (a type of organisational citizenship behaviours), the important role of technical factors (social media) remains unclear. Drawing on social comparison and organisational support theory, this study explored how social media affordances influence employees' altruistic behaviours from both positive and negative perspectives. In this study, 302 employees from organisations in China were surveyed. We found that social media affordances could facilitate employees' perceived organisational support and social comparison of ability. Perceived organisational support positively mediated the relationship between social media affordances and altruistic behaviours. Although the evidence did not support the notion that social comparison of ability could directly dampen altruistic behaviours, a post-hoc analysis found that it could dampen the positive impact of perceived organisational support on developing altruistic behaviours. This study expanded previous research focusing on only positive or negative effects of social media use in the workplace by investigating the dual effects and the interaction effect in between. The emergence of gig economy has facilitated the adoption of algorithm-based management systems, creating favorable conditions for gig workers. Nevertheless, it also brings various challenges and uncertainties, especially gig workers' safety performance, having become a prominent concern. Based on ego-depletion theory, we investigate the underlying mechanism through which platform algorithmic control influences on safety performance of gig workers. Based on two points of data from 314 gig workers in China, we found that the three dimensions of algorithmic control (viz., standardized guidance, tracking evaluation and behavioral constraint) have differential effects on safety performance. On one hand, algorithmic standardized guidance is negatively related to ego-depletion, which in turn improves safety performance. On the other hand, algorithmic tracking evaluation and behavioral constraint are positively related to ego-depletion, and consequently reducing safety performance. Furthermore, algorithmic transparency moderates the relationship between algorithmic standardized guidance, algorithmic tracking evaluation, and ego-depletion; self-efficacy moderates the relationship between algorithmic standardized guidance and ego-depletion; both trait mindfulness and leadership safety commitment moderate the relationship between ego-depletion and safety performance. Despite substantial investments in customer‐relationship‐management (CRM) systems, companies continue to experience pain rather than profit. Meanwhile, the concept of "adaptive behaviour" of frontline employees has received little attention in the literature related to CRM systems in which the frontline employees are the primary users. In this study, we propose that with the aid of CRM systems, individual employees are able to immediately access information about customers and service offerings, thus enabling their adaptive behaviours to provide personalized service to individual customers. Based on coping theory, we develop a CRM system‐driven adaptive behaviour model that explains how CRM systems facilitate individual employees' service performance by enabling adaptive behaviour during their service encounters. Multisourced data from a financial company in China largely support our proposed model, showing that employees' postadoption of CRM systems (routinization and infusion of use) enables interpersonal and offering adaptive behaviours, which in turn enhance employees' service performance. In addition, forming a postadoption behaviour of CRM systems relies on the frequent use. We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of adaptive behaviour in service encounters with the aid of CRM systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
