Objective: This study aimed to explore the feasibility of low-frequency electric field assisted controlled freezing-point storage (CFPS) technology improving the quality of shrimp. Methods: Low-frequency electric field was applied on the basis of controlled freezing-point storage (LFEF+CFPS) to preserve prawns, and the contents of malondialdehyde and salt soluble protein, as well as the changes of Ca2+-ATPase activity, pH value, shear force, color difference and protein molecular weight of prawns were monitored. Results: Compared with the conventional CFPS, the LFEF+CFPS had no significant effect on the content of malondialdehyde, salt-soluble protein, pH, shear force and color of prawn meat. However, after 3 days of storage, LFEF + CFPS treatment significantly inhibit the decrease of Ca2+-ATPase activity, and the Ca2+-ATPase activity of LFEF+CFPS treatment group stored for 15 days was 2.20 times that of the CFPS treatment group. In addition, LFEF + CFPS treatment significantly inhibited the decrease in the density of myosin heavy chain, actin and tropomyosin bands. Conclusion: Compared with conventional CFPS treatment, LFEF + CFPS treatment significantly inhibited the decrease of Ca2+-ATPase activity and protein degradation, maintained the stability of protein structure and properties, and slowed down the deterioration of prawn meat quality.

Aims Methods Results Conclusion The recommended dosage of pegylated recombinant human granulocyte‐colony stimulating factor (PEG‐rhG‐CSF) for Western chemotherapy patients is 6 mg per cycle. However, for Eastern Asians, the optimal dose remains unknown.This open‐label, randomized, non‐inferiority trial (NCT05283616) enrolled Chinese female breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy. Participants were randomized to receive either 3 or 6 mg of PEG‐rhG‐CSF per cycle, stratified by body weight (BW; ≤60 kg vs. >60 kg). The primary endpoint was timely absolute neutrophil count (ANC) recovery before the second cycle of chemotherapy.A total of 122 patients were randomized and 116 were included for efficacy analyses. The timely ANC recovery rate in the 3 mg arm was 89.8%, compared to 93.0% in the 6 mg arm (one‐sided 95% confidence interval [CI] lower limit for difference: −11.7%), meeting the prespecified non‐inferiority margin of 15%. The rate was 93.3% with PEG‐rhG‐CSF 3 mg and 96.6% with 6 mg in patients with BW ≤ 60 kg, and 86.2% and 89.3%, respectively, in those with BW > 60 kg. Although the incidence of severe neutropenia was similar across arms, the occurrence of excessively high ANC and white blood cell counts was higher in the 6 mg arm. No grade ≥3 adverse events related to PEG‐rhG‐CSF occurred.Three milligrams of PEG‐rhG‐CSF per cycle provided non‐inferior neutrophil protection and attenuated neutrophil overshoot compared to 6 mg doses. A software package, MRISim, for virtual magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data acquisition and image reconstruction was developed based on numerical simulation techniques. Virtual MRI data acquisition could be achieved through physical-mathematical modeling of the equipment and samples (i.e., phantom or human body). Image reconstruction of the virtual data was performed in the same manner as that in a real desktop MRI scanner. The software could also be applied for visualization of the features and causes of a variety of MRI artifacts, with the acquisition and processing parameters in the real experiments. MRISim was demonstrated as an efficient and reliable tool to conduct virtual MRI experiments, avoiding high expense of MRI training on real instruments.

Graphitized carbon black (GCB) in the traditional QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) method was used to remove the interfering substance chlorophyll in vegetable and fruit samples for pesticide residues determination. However, it not only adsorbs pigments, but also adsorbs some planar and aromatic pesticides. In order to solve the shortcoming, a core-shell magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (Fe3O4@MIP) that can specifically recognize and adsorb chlorophyll was synthesized, and an advanced QuEChERS method with the Fe3O4@MIP as a purification material was developed. This advanced method presents detection that is highly sensitive, specific, and reproducible for planar and aromatic pesticides. The limits of detection (LOD) ranged from 0.001–0.002 mg kg−1, and the limit of quantification (LOQ) was 0.005 mg kg−1. The recovery for the planar and aromatic pesticides was within 70–110% with the associated relative standard deviations < 15% in leek samples by the advanced QuEChERS method. However, in the traditional QuEChERS method with GCB, the recovery of most planar and aromatic pesticides was <60%. It may also be useful for the determination of other pesticides in vegetable samples with quick and easy sample purification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
