1. Effects of density-dependent scenarios of in-medium nucleon-nucleon interactions in heavy-ion collisions

Abstract

Using a more reasonable separate density-dependent scenario instead of the total density-dependent scenario for in-medium $nn$, $pp$ and $np$ interactions, we examine effects of differences of in-medium nucleon-nucleon interactions in two density-dependent scenarios on isospin-sensitive observables in central $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au collisions at 400 MeV/nucleon. Moreover, to more physically detect the differences between the nucleon-nucleon interactions in two density-dependent scenarios, we also map the nucleon-nucleon interaction in the separate density-dependent scenario into that in the total density-dependent scenario through fitting the identical constraints for symmetric nuclear matter as well as the identical slope parameter of nuclear symmetry energy at the saturation density. It is shown that two density-dependent scenarios also lead to essentially different symmetry potentials especially at high densities although they can lead to the identical equation of state for the symmetry nuclear matter as well as the identical symmetry energy for the isospin asymmetric nuclear matter. Consequently, these isospin-sensitive observables are also appreciably affected by the different density-dependent scenarios of in-medium nucleon-nucleon interactions. Therefore, according to these findings, it is suggested that effects of the separate density-dependent scenario of in-medium nucleon-nucleon interactions should be taken into account when probing the high-density symmetry energy using these isospin-sensitive observables in heavy-ion collisions., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures. Abstract

Based on the multiscale character of wavelet transform, the method of wavelet transform de-noising (WTDN) is introduced to improve the signal-noise ratio (SNR) of sampled data and to enhance the accuracy of pole identification of system with N4SID (numerical algorithms for subspace state system identification) method. The WTDN method does not require extra limit of the frequency range for the processed signal, and does not need a prior estimate of impulse response for identified system. So it is especially suitable to de-noise the wide-band signal and the noisy impulse response of the blind system. The results of numerical simulation indicate that the WTDN method is reliable. The WTDN method is used to process the sampled data from actual preamplifier coupled to a gas detector. The experimental results show that the WTDN method improves effectively the SNR of sampled data, which can help to enhance the accuracy in pole identification of system with the N4SID method.

18. 中国雲南における食用としてのスズメバチ : その市場と調理法について

Abstract

In this paper the present marketing situations of hornet broods as a food material, local specialties and their recipes, and methods for collecting and breeding hornet nests in Yunnan in China are described. The hornet nests marketed in Kunmin are all those belonging to the genus Vespa, -V. mandarinia, V. soror, V. tropica, V. velutina, V. variabilis, V. analis, V. basalis, V. binghami and V. mocsaryana. Newly-emerged imagos soaked in spirits are also sold as Chinese typees of medicine. The hornet broods are sold from the middle of June to the end of October and the top season being from August to September in this area. Each dealer sells about 1,500 to 3,000 kg of hornet nests per year. In Kunmin, the price of hornet nests with broods is 2 to 4 times higher than those of other animal meats (pork, beef, mutton, chicken, etc.). Hornet nests are usually collected by exterminating worker hornets making a counterattack by burning with torches at the entrance of the nests. Recently, attempts were also made to use insecticides or fuses. When a nest too small to use for food is found, the queen and workers are caught alive together with the nest and kept in the garden until the nest grows in autumn. The most popular method for cooking hornet broods is frying in rapeseed oil. Among 25 minority races in Yunnan, Hui Muslims do not eat hornet broods while others favor them greatly as food. For these minority races living in the mountain areas hornet broods in the large nests have been highly important as a nutritious protein source. Though hornet nests have been collected in a self-sufficient amount until recently, they aro now evaluated as a luxury food with the recent advance in the market economy in China. It is therefore presumed that hornet broods are marketed as an expensive seasonal product., 本報は中国雲南省における食用としての大型のスズメバチについて，省都昆明市とその周辺の市場での巣の取り引きや販売方法の実態，少数民族を中心としたハチの子（終齢幼虫及び蛹）の料理の種類やその調理法，巣の発見・採集・飼育などの方法を，現地での調査をもとに述べたものである。食用とされるスズメバチはスズメパチ属10種，ホオナガスズメバチ属とクロスズメバチ属の各1種が確認されたが，おそらくこの地方に生息する全種（22種）が利用されているとみなされる。とくに食材としては世界最大種に属するウンナンオオスズメバチ，ネッタイヒメスズメバチ，オオスズメバチの3種の評価が高く，ハチの子が生きたまま巣の中に入った状態で，豚や牛など家畜肉の4～10倍の価格で売られていた。この地方は市場での販売量から推定すると，食用としてのスズメバチの世界最大の消費地とみなされた。ハチの子は，郷土食（地元では風味食品という）として単独または野菜や各種の調味料などとともに油炒めにされたり，民族によってはスープにするなどメニューは多彩で，一般家庭だけでなく，飯店や食堂などでも供されていた。こうしたスズメバチは，すべて野生の巣が利用されているが，とくに雲南省の南部（思芽，楚雄，紅河，文山など）に産地が多く，秋のシーズンに採集されるばかりでなく，6～8月の営巣初期～中期の段階の小さな巣のうちに生け捕りにしたものを，自宅付近で飼育して繁殖カストが生産される秋になって利用する場合が多い。こうした飼育によって食用としての巣の価値が高まるばかりでなく，それらの巣からは新女王バチが離巣して野外における次世代の繁殖に寄与していると見なされた。また，攻撃性や毒性が発達したことには，スズメバチの発祥地とみなされるこの地域において，ヒトによる捕獲が度々行われたことが関係している可能性が示唆された。

24. Predictive modeling of microbial single cells: A review.

Abstract

In practice, food products tend to be contaminated with food-borne pathogens at a low inoculum level. However, the huge potential risk cannot be ignored because microbes may initiate high-speed growth suitable conditions during the food chain, such as transportation or storage. Thus, it is important to perform predictive modeling of microbial single cells. Several key aspects of microbial single-cell modeling are covered in this review. First, based on previous studies, the techniques of microbial single-cell data acquisition and growth data collection are presented in detail. In addition, the sources of microbial single-cell variability are also summarized. Due to model microbial growth, traditional deterministic mathematical models have been developed. However, most models fail to make accurate predictions at low cell numbers or at the single-cell level due to high cell-to-cell heterogeneity. Abstract

Gaussian pulse shaping of exponential decay signal based on wavelet analysis is reported. The peak height of Gaussian shaping signal represents the energy of radiation particle and the peak position represents the time of radiation event occurring, respectively. The experimental results with simulating and sampling signals show that the exponential decay signal has been shaped into Gaussian signal, which indicates that Gaussian pulse shaping based on wavelet analysis is valid. The result may serve as the theoretical basic for studying digital realization of Gaussian pulse shaping.

Abstract

The pseudo-rapidity distribution of charged hadron multiplicity in Pb+Pb collisions at √s = 2.76 TeV is studied by using Color Glass Condensate dynamics in the fixed coupling case. We fit the HERA experimental data with heavy parton mass effect to obtain saturation exponent λ = 0.22. It is found that the charged hadron multiplicity can only describe after including heavy parton mass effect due to a large amount of heavy partons produced at large hadron collider (LHC) energy. The pomeron loop effect contribution to hadron production is also investigated. It shows that charged hadron multiplicity is underestimated by including the pomeron loop effect, which indicates that the pomeron loop effect may not exist at LHC energy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The authors of the present work developed conductive composite materials comprised of carbon black and waterborne polyurethane by latex blending. Unlike conventional polymer composites that only respond to certain specific group of solvent vapors, the present composites exhibit electrical resistance responses to a series of vapors of polar and non-polar solvents as a result of the block molecular structure of polyurethane. Under a given vapor pressure, the response rate increases with increasing temperature, but the maximum magnitude of response of the composites decreases because of the effect of vapor desorption. In the case of a constant temperature, the maximum responsivity of the composites increases with a rise in vapor pressure and the relationship follows linear regression within the p/po range of 10-4 to 2 × 10-2. Besides, the slopes of the linear dependences vary when the vapor species is changed, suggesting the possibility of quantifying and distinguishing vapors. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the one of the most common nutritional problems and is encountered all over the world. This study analysed the effects of squid ink melanin-Fe (SM-Fe) on IDA in rats. Forty weanling SD male rats were used and thirty-two rats were fed an iron-deficient diet for 4 weeks. Then SM-Fe (dosages of iron is 6 mg kg(-1) BW) was given to the IDA rats once a day for 3 weeks by intragastric administration, with FeCl3 and FeSO4 (dosages of iron is 6 mg kg(-1) BW) as positive controls. While the IDA model group and the control group were administrated distilled deionized water each day for 3 weeks. The content of haemoglobin (Hb), serum iron (SI), total iron binding capacity (TIBC), serum ferritin (SF), transferrin receptor (sTfR), erythropoietin (EPO), and iron content in the liver and spleen were measured. The results showed that the content of Hb, SI, SF, EPO, iron content in the liver and spleen were significantly increased in the iron supplement groups (SM-Fe, FeCl3 and FeSO4) compared with the model group (P < 0.05), while TIBC and sTfR were significantly decreased in the iron supplement groups compared with the model group (P < 0.05). In comparison with the FeCl3 and FeSO4 groups, a higher bioavailability of iron and fewer side effects were observed in the SM-Fe group. The present study indicated that SM-Fe is an effective source of iron supplement for IDA rats and might be exploited as a new iron fortifier.
