As an evolutionarily conserved RNA-binding protein, LIN28 is known to be involved in the regulation of the translation and stability of a large number of mRNAs and the biogenesis of certain miRNAs. Increasing evidence indicates that LIN28 regulates many cellular processes, such as embryonic stem cell proliferation, cell fate succession, developmental timing, and oncogenesis. However, the expression and function of LIN28 after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) are still unclear. In this study, we performed an intracranial hemorrhage model in adult rats and western blot, immunohistochemistry, as well as immunofluorescence showed that LIN28 was obviously up-regulation in neurons adjacent to the hematoma after ICH. Besides, the transitory increase of LIN28 expression was paralleled with the up-regulation of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) as well as GFAP.
