AIM: To investigate the relationship between dynamic tear meniscus parameters and dry eye using an automated tear meniscus segmentation method. METHODS: The analysis of tear meniscus videos captured within 5s after a complete blink includes data from 38 participates. By processing video data, several key parameters including the average height of the tear meniscus at different lengths, the curvature of the tear meniscus's upper boundary, and the total area of the tear meniscus in each frame were calculated. The effective values of these dynamic parameters were then linearly fitted to explore the relationship between their changing trends and dry eye disease. RESULTS: In 94.74% of the samples, the average height of central tear meniscus increased over time. Moreover, 97.37% of the samples exhibited an increase in the overall tear meniscus height (TMH) and area from the nasal to temporal side. Notably, the central TMH increased at a faster rate compared to the nasal side with the temporal side showing the slowest ascent. Statistical analysis indicates that the upper boundary curvature of the whole tear meniscus as well as the tear meniscus of the nasal side (2, 3, and 4 mm) aid in identifying the presence of dry eye and assessing its severity. CONCLUSION: This study contributes to the understanding of tear meniscus dynamics as potential markers for dry eye, utilizing an automated and non-invasive approach that has implications for clinical assessment.

For personalized recommendation,common recommendation algorithms include content recommendation,Item CF and User CF.However,most of these algorithms and their improved algorithms tend to focus on users' explicit feedback (tags,ra-tings,etc.) or rating data,and lack the use of multi-dimensional user behavior and behavior order,resulting in low recommendation accuracy and cold start problems.In order to improve the recommendation accuracy,a collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm based on knowledge graph (BR-CF) is proposed.Firstly,according to the user behavior data,behavior graph and behavior route are created considering the behavior order,and then the vectorization technology (Keras Tokenizer) is used.Finally,the similarity between multi-dimensional behavior route vectors is calculated,and the route collaborative filtering recommendation is carried out for each dimension.On this basis,two improved algorithms combining BR-CF and Item CF are proposed.The expe-rimental results show that the BR-CF algorithm can recommend effectively in multiple dimensions on the user behavior dataset of Ali Tianchi,realize the full utilization of data and the diversity of recommendation,and the improved algorithm can improve the recommendation performance of Item CF.

A composite bucket foundation (CBF) is a new foundation type of offshore wind turbine. The investigation of the bearing characteristic of CBF is a crucial part of the structural design and safety assessment of offshore wind turbines. This study investigates the bearing characteristic of CBF in sand and clay foundations using centrifuge model test and numerical simulation. Analysis revealed that as load increases, the rotation center of the CBF moves toward the central line and shallow area. The buried depth of the CBF rotation center in a clay foundation is shallower than in a sand foundation when the CBF is under ultimate loading. Due to the rotation and translation of CBF, the soil pressure–depth curves on the skirt wall in different directions will resemble parabolic, line, and triangle shapes, respectively. Under ultimate loading, the relationship between the depth and horizontal coordinate of the rotation center and embedment ratio is linear. The CBF's bearing capacity trend presents quadratic function characteristics as the embedment ratio increases. However, the bearing capacity ratio of the CBF in the clay foundation is faster than that in the sand foundation. The findings provide guidelines for offshore wind turbines. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The properties of coral sands are significantly affected by the gradation changes caused by the particle breakage. In this paper, a series of triaxial consolidated drained (CD) shear tests were carried out to investigate the influence of gradation on the particle breakage and mechanical properties of coral sands. The results showed that the softening and dilatancy during shearing are more significant for coral sands with smaller average particle sizes under low confining pressure. The peak friction angle decreases with the confining pressure and can be fitted by a power function for different gradations. The particle size distribution of the "hyperbolic" or "straight" curve has a trend to transform into a "sigmoidal" type after shearing; and the variation is affected by the confining pressure and the initial gradation. The critical state lines of the coral sands with different gradations are parallel straight lines on the e − (p ′ / p a) ξ plane. In addition, the relative breakage of coral sand particles increases with the confining pressure and the mean particle size. Based on the triaxial compression test results, the expressions relating relative breakages to the confining pressure and the gradation parameters were proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Data from a survey of 343 employees, their 343 direct supervisors, and 662 of their peers were applied to test a model proposing that Chinese subordinates employ political skill to influence their guanxi with their supervisors, and so promote their career development. We found that supervisor-subordinate guanxi mediated the relationship between political skill and career development of the subordinates. Implications of the findings were discussed. The phytochemical investigation of extracts from the radix of Angelica sinensis yielded a new phthalide dimer, 3,3′Z-6.7′,7.6′-diligustilide (1), along with a known dimer, levistolide A (2). Their structures were established on the basis of spectral data, particularly using 1D-NMR and several 2D shift-correlated NMR pulse sequences (1H–1H COSY, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY). Abstract: Transient chemical absorption dynamics of sulfur dioxide by a water aerosol droplet at three Reynolds numbers of 0.643, 1.287, and 12.87 are predicted. In this study, a sinusoidal distribution of velocity at the droplet surface is assumed to approach the flow field inside the droplet and a single-phase simulation method (SPSM) is developed to compare with the two-phase simulation method (TPSM). Considering the physical SO2 absorption processes with internal circulation, the predictions based the SPSM are very close to those of the TPSM, revealing that the SPSM is a proper method to evaluate the mass transport phenomena for SO2 uptake by an aerosol droplet. When chemical reactions in the course of absorption are taken into account using the SPSM, it is noteworthy that the transient absorption process is almost independent of the Reynolds number. This arises from that fact that the entire mass transfer process is controlled by mass diffusion and dominated by the dissociation of sulfurous acid (SO2·H2O). It is also found that the chemical absorption period is elongated markedly compared to the physical absorption process, approximately by the factors of 5.6–13.1. Eventually, an analysis on the characteristic times of mass transport processes is performed to elucidate mass transport mechanisms and the reasonability of the developed SPSM.
