1. Correlation of Foxp3 expression in peripheral blood lymphocytes with TLR9 and IRF-7 in dendritic cells in patients with condyloma acuminatum

Abstract

Objective To analyze the correlation between forkhead box protein 3 (Foxp3) in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLCs) and the expression levels of Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) and interferon regulatory factor-7 (IRF-7) in the dendritic cells (DCs) in patients with condyloma acuminatum. Methods From February, 2017 to February, 2018, a total of 120 patients with condyloma acuminatum were enrolled as the case group, with 120 healthy subjects undergoing routine physical examination during the same period as the control group. The expression levels of TLR9 and IRF-7 in the DCs and Foxp3 expression levels in the PBLCs were compared between the 2 groups, and the correlation between Foxp3 in the PBLCs and TLR9 and IRF-7 expression in the DCs was analyzed. Results TLR9 and IRF-7 levels in the DCs were significantly higher in the case group than in the healthy control group, and their levels were significantly higher in the patients with disease relapse than those with the first-episode disease. The levels of Foxp3, PD-1, PD-L1 and CD8 in the PBLCs were significantly higher, while the levels of RORγt mRNA and CD4 in the PBLCs were significantly lower in the case group than the healthy control group. In the case group, the levels of Foxp3, PD-1, PD-L1 and CD8 were significantly higher in the relapse group than in the first-episode disease group; The levels of RORγt mRNA and CD4 were significantly lower in the relapse group than the control group. In the patients with condyloma acuminatum, Foxp3 level in the PBLCs was significantly correlated with the levels of TLR9 and IRF-7 in the DCs. Conclusion In patients with condyloma acuminatum, Foxp3 level in the PBLCs is correlated with the changes in TLR9 and IRF-7 levels in the DCs, suggesting their roles all as stimulatory molecules that participate in the disease progression.

37. Plant Cell Wall Polysaccharide O -Acetyltransferases.

Abstract

Plant cell walls are largely composed of polysaccharide polymers, including cellulose, hemicelluloses (xyloglucan, xylan, mannan, and mixed-linkage β-1,3/1,4-glucan), and pectins. Among these cell wall polysaccharides, xyloglucan, xylan, mannan, and pectins are often O-acetylated, and polysaccharide O-acetylation plays important roles in cell wall assembly and disease resistance. Genetic and biochemical analyses have implicated the involvement of three groups of proteins in plant cell wall polysaccharide O-acetylation: trichome birefringence-like (TBL)/domain of unknown function 231 (DUF231), reduced wall acetylation (RWA), and altered xyloglucan 9 (AXY9). Although the exact roles of RWAs and AXY9 are yet to be identified, members of the TBL/DUF231 family have been found to be O-acetyltransferases responsible for the O-acetylation of xyloglucan, xylan, mannan, and pectins. Here, we provide a comprehensive overview of the occurrence of O-acetylated cell wall polysaccharides, the biochemical properties, structural features, and evolution of cell wall polysaccharide O-acetyltransferases, and the potential biotechnological applications of manipulations of cell wall polysaccharide acetylation. Further in-depth studies of the biochemical mechanisms of cell wall polysaccharide O-acetylation will not only enrich our understanding of cell wall biology, but also have important implications in engineering plants with increased disease resistance and reduced recalcitrance for biofuel production. Abstract

This study prepared resistant starch (RS) from waxy corn starch and normal corn starch and analyzed the effects of its molecular and microstructural characteristics on RS content. The RS content of waxy corn resistant starch (RS-WCS) was highest at 57.8%, whereas that of normal corn resistant starch (RS-NCS) was 41.46%. The short-chain amylose contents of RS-WCS and RS-NCS were 47.08% and 37.24%, respectively, proportional to their RS content. Additionally, RS content positively correlated with crystallinity, short-range order degree, and degree of polymerization (DP), exceeding 25. Electron microscopic images, before and after enzymolysis, revealed that RS-WCS was hydrolyzed from the surface to the center by pancreatic α-amylase, while RS-NCS underwent simultaneous hydrolysis at the surface and center. These results indicate that the higher RS content in RS-WCS, compared to RS-NCS, is attributable to the synergistic effects of molecular structure and microstructure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The light-matter quantum interface that can create quantum-correlations or entanglement between a photon and one atomic collective excitation is a fundamental building block for a quantum repeater. The intrinsic limit is that the probability of preparing such non-classical atom-photon correlations has to be kept low in order to suppress multi-excitation. To enhance this probability without introducing multi-excitation errors, a promising scheme is to apply multimode memories into the interface. Significant progresses have been made in temporal, spectral, and spatial multiplexing memories, but the enhanced probability for generating the entangled atom-photon pair has not been experimentally realized. Here, by using 6 spin-wave-photon entanglement sources, a switching network and feed-forward control, we build a multiplexed light-matter interface and then demonstrate a ~6-fold (~4-fold) probability increase in generating entangled atom-photon (photon-photon) pairs. The measured compositive Bell parameter for the multiplexed interface is 2.49+-0.03 combined with a memory lifetime of up to ~60 microseconds.

46. Controllably releasing long-lived quantum memory for photonic polarization qubit into multiple separate photonic channels

Abstract

We report an experiment in which long-lived quantum memories for photonic polarization qubits (PPQs) are controllably released into any one of multiple separate channels. The PPQs are implemented with an arbitrarily-polarized coherent signal light pulses at the single-photon level and are stored in cold atoms by means of electromagnetic-induced-transparency scheme. Reading laser pulses propagating along the direction at a small angle relative to quantum axis are applied to release the stored PPQs into an output channel. By changing the propagating directions of the read laser beam, we controllably release the retrieved PPQs into 7 different photonic output channels, respectively. At one of the output channels, the measured maximum quantum-process fidelity for the PPQs is 94.2% at storage time of t= 0.85ms. At storage time of 6 ms, the quantum-process fidelity is still beyond 78%, the threshold for the violation of the Bell inequality. The demonstrated controllable release of the stored PPQs may extend the capabilities of the quantum information storage technique.

48. Multicolor V2O5/TiO2electrochromic films with fast switching and long lifespan for camouflage and information display

Abstract

V2O5, which has multicolor and energy storage properties, is a promising electrochromic material for multifunctional electrochromic devices, but its practical application is limited by its poor lifespan and long switching time. In this work, high-performance V2O5/TiO2films were fabricated by spraying a V2O5solution on in situ-grown TiO2nanorods. Due to the porous structure formed between the TiO2nanorods and the remarkable electron transfer performance of TiO2, the switching time of the V2O5/TiO2films decreased. Moreover, the strong adhesion between the TiO2nanorods and F-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass and the increased surface roughness of the substrates significantly improved the cycling stability of the V2O5/TiO2films. With a large transmittance modulation (47.8% at 668 nm), fast response speed (τc= 5.1 s, τb= 4.2 s), and long lifespan, V2O5/TiO2films were used as electrodes for the electrochromic energy storage device (EESD), which switched in six colors through color overlay: dark orange, sandy yellow, green-yellow, yellow-green, dark green, and dark brown. Inspired by pixel displays, EESDs were designed by segmenting V2O5films to stagger the display of the electrochromic and ion storage layers, which presented 11 types of information based on different combinations of colors. This work provides inspiration for developing multifunctional electrochromic devices, especially for camouflage and information displays.

49. Stacked workpieces detection algorithm based on improved YOLOv5

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn modern industry, deep learning algorithms have increasingly replaced manual sorting for detecting workpieces and enabling sorting by robots or robotic arms. However, the detection of stacked workpieces presents a challenge to automated detection. In this paper, the YOLOv5-RES algorithm is proposed to solve the problem of detecting stacked workpieces based on the YOLOv5 algorithm. The receptive field block (RFB) replaces the original fast pyramid pooling layer (SPPF) of YOLOv5 to enable the network to better acquire feature information of stacked workpieces. The EIOU loss is introduced to improve the network’s accuracy in regression, and a flexible prediction box selection algorithm (Soft-NMS) is utilized to reduce the possibility of incorrectly removing stacked workpiece targets. The effectiveness of YOLOv5-RES is verified on a homemade workpiece dataset. On the test set, the precision for all classes is 93.3%, the mAP@.5 is 91.4%, and the detection speed is 65.4 FPS (Frames Per Second), which meets the real-time requirement. And the detection results show that YOLOv5-RES greatly avoids the problems of incorrect detection and missed detection of YOLOv5. Moreover, YOLOv5-RES achieves the optimal effect in both the comparison experiment and the ablation experiment, indicating its effectiveness and potential for application.

Abstract

The generation and storage of entangled photons play important roles in quantum information technique. Spontaneous Raman scattering (SRS) in atomic ensembles provides a promising method to generate entangled photons capable of storage. In the past experiments, a spin-wave-photon entangled state is produced via SRS in an atomic ensemble, with which a pair of entangled photons is obtained. Here, we report a scheme of simultaneously generating two spin-wave-photon entangled states in an atomic ensemble by collecting Stokes photons at two different directions. Based on the obtained two atom-photon entangled sources, we generate a three-photon GHZ polarization-entangled state and conditionally prepare a polarization-entangled photon pair, respectively.
