Objective: This research aims to explore the effects of incorporating saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation products (SCFP) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, antioxidant capacity, fecal SCFAs, and microbial composition of pre-weaning calves., Methods: Twenty Holstein calves, 10 days old and weighing an average of 48.63±0.91 kg, were randomly assigned to either the control group (CON) or the SCFP group, with 10 calves in each group. The CON group received only a basal diet, while the SCFP group received the starter diet supplemented with 5 g/head/d of SCFP products (NutriTek, Diamond V Cedar Rapids, IA 52404, United States). The pre-trial period lasted for 5 days, followed by a main experimental period of 45 days., Results: The SCFP group had significantly higher final weight, ADG, and FE compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Moreover, the SCFP group exhibited increased apparent digestibility of DM, CP, EE, ADF, Ca, and P (p < 0.05). Additionally, supplementation with SCFP led to elevated content of GH, IGF-1, and GLP-1 in serum. The inclusion of SCFP also raised serum CAT content and reduced serum MDA content in pre-weaning calves. Furthermore, SCFP supplementation influenced the composition of intestinal microflora by decreasing Actinobacteriota abundance and increasing the abundance of Ruminococcus, Lachnospiraceae&#95;AC2044&#95;group, Parabacteroides, and Butyricimonas., Conclusion: The addition of SCFP has a positive impact on the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, antioxidant capacity, and intestinal microflora composition of pre-weaning calves.

Two unusual isosativene sesquiterpene derivatives, named dendronobilol A (1) and dendronobilside A (2), and two unusual sativene sesquiterpene derivatives, named dendronobilsides B (3) and C (4), had been isolated from the stems of Dendrobium nobile. The structures of all the compounds were established using spectroscopic methods and by comparison with literature data, and their absolute configurations were confirmed via single-crystal X-ray diffraction data and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations. Dendronobilol A (1) and dendronobilside A (2) possessed a unique tricyclo[4.3.0.1 2, 8 ]decan ring system, while dendronobilsides B (3) and C (4) presented a unique tricyclo[4.4.0.0 2, 8 ]decan core carbon skeleton. The above two types of sesquiterpene derivatives had been isolated and purified from plants for the first time. Background: The mechanism of improvement of type 2 diabetes after duodenal-jejunal bypass (DJB) surgery is not clear., Aim: To study the morphological and functional changes in adipose tissue after DJB and explore the potential mechanisms contributing to postoperative insulin sensitivity improvement of adipose tissue in a diabetic male rat model., Methods: DJB and sham surgery was performed in a-high-fat-diet/streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model. All adipose tissue was weighed and observed under microscope. Use inguinal fat to represent subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and mesangial fat to represent visceral adipose tissue. RNA-sequencing was utilized to evaluate gene expression alterations adipocytes. The hematoxylin and eosin staining, reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, western blot, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to study the changes. Insulin resistance was evaluated by immunofluorescence., Results: After DJB, whole body blood glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity in adipose tissue improved. Fat cell volume in both visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and SAT increased. Compared to SAT, VAT showed more significantly functional alterations after DJB and KEGG analysis indicated growth hormone (GH) pathway and downstream adiponectin secretion were involved in metabolic regulation. The circulating GH and adiponectin levels and GH receptor and adiponectin levels in VAT increased. Two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES) can be implemented with different geometries, e.g., BOXCARS, collinear, and pump-probe geometries. The pump-probe geometry has the advantage of overlapping only two beams and reducing phase cycling steps. However, its applications are typically limited to observing the dynamics with single-quantum coherence and population, leaving the challenge to measure the dynamics of the double-quantum (2Q) coherence, which reflects the many-body interactions. We demonstrate an experimental technique in 2DES under pump-probe geometry with a designed pulse sequence and the signal processing method to extract 2Q coherence. In the designed pulse sequence, with the probe pulse arriving earlier than the pump pulses, our measured signal includes the 2Q signal as well as the zero-quantum signal. With phase cycling and data processing using causality enforcement, we extract the 2Q signal. The proposal is demonstrated with rubidium atoms. In the present study, a novel derivative, IOP-LA, was prepared by hybridizing antioxidant lipoic acid (LA) and our recently reported antioxidative marine phidianidine B-inspired indole/1,2,4-oxadiazole derivative. Our results demonstrated that IOP-LA could protect vascular endothelial cells (VECs) from oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL)-induced oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2 pathway, inhibit the production of atherosclerotic plaque, and promote the stability of atherosclerotic plaque in apoE -/- mice. Moreover, the protective effect of IOP-LA was superior to LA at the same concentration. Mechanistic studies revealed that IOP-LA significantly inhibited the increase of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and the translocation of nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) nuclear induced by oxLDL through the nuclear factor erythroid2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway. In summary, the data demonstrate that IOP-LA, as a new antioxidant, protects VECs from oxLDL-induced oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2 pathway. Developing from transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy, two-dimensional (2D) spectroscopy with pump-probe geometry has emerged as a versatile approach for alleviating the difficulty in implementing 2D spectroscopy with other geometries. However, the presence of cross-phase modulation (XPM) in TA spectroscopy introduces significant spectral distortions, particularly when the pump and probe pulses overlap. We demonstrate that this phenomenon is extended to the 2D spectroscopy with pump-probe geometry and the XPM is induced by the interference of the two pump pulses. We present the oscillatory behavior of XPM in the 2D spectrum and its displacement with respect to the waiting time delay through both experimental measurements and numerical simulations. Additionally, we explore the influence of probe pulse chirp on XPM and discover that by compressing the chirp, the impact of XPM on the desired signal can be reduced.

Background: The efficacy and safety of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) combined with anti-PD-1 antibodies (α-PD-1) in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with high hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels (>500 IU/mL) remain unclear., Methods: We retrospectively assessed patients from seven medical institutions diagnosed with HBV-related HCC, undergoing treatment with TKIs and α-PD-1 in conjunction with antiviral therapies. Based on HBV-DNA levels, patients were categorized into either high (HHBV-DNA, >500 IU/mL) or low HBV-DNA (LHBV-DNA, ≤500 IU/mL) cohorts Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to minimize baseline imbalance between groups., Results: 149 patients were included, with 66 patients exhibiting HBV-DNA > 500 IU/mL and 83 patients presenting HBV-DNA ≤ 500 IU/mL. Compared with the LHBV-DNA cohort, the HHBV-DNA cohort had a greater incidence of serum HBeAg positivity, tumor diameter ≥ 10 cm, and vascular invasion. Following PSM, 57 individuals were enrolled in each group. Oncological outcomes were comparable between HHBV-DNA and LHBV-DNA cohorts before and after PSM. Before PSM, the median PFS and OS were 6.1 months and 17.5 months in the HHBV-DNA cohort and 6.7 months and 19.3 months in the LHBV-DNA cohort (all P > 0.05). After PSM, the median PFS and OS were 6.0 months and 19.5 months in the HHBV-DNA cohort and 6.0 months and 17.1 months in the LHBV-DNA cohort, respectively (all P > 0.05). Safety profiles were equivalent across cohorts with no fatal incidents reported. Seven patients (4.7 %) had HBV reactivation. 1 (0.7 %) from HHBV-DNA and 6 (4.0 %) from LHBV-DNA (P = 0.134). Objective: Adult age estimation (AAE) is a challenging task. Deep learning (DL) could be a supportive tool. This study aimed to develop DL models for AAE based on CT images and compare their performance to the manual visual scoring method., Methods: Chest CT were reconstructed using volume rendering (VR) and maximum intensity projection (MIP) separately. Retrospective data of 2500 patients aged 20.00-69.99 years were obtained. The cohort was split into training (80%) and validation (20%) sets. Additional independent data from 200 patients were used as the test set and external validation set. Different modality DL models were developed accordingly. Comparisons were hierarchically performed by VR versus MIP, single-modality versus multi-modality, and DL versus manual method. Mean absolute error (MAE) was the primary parameter of comparison., Results: A total of 2700 patients (mean age = 45.24 years ± 14.03 [SD]) were evaluated. Of single-modality models, MAEs yielded by VR were lower than MIP. Multi-modality models generally yielded lower MAEs than the optimal single-modality model. The best-performing multi-modality model obtained the lowest MAEs of 3.78 in males and 3.40 in females. On the test set, DL achieved MAEs of 3.78 in males and 3.92 in females, which were far better than the MAEs of 8.90 and 6.42 respectively, for the manual method. For the external validation, MAEs were 6.05 in males and 6.68 in females for DL, and 6.93 and 8.28 for the manual method., Conclusions: DL demonstrated better performance than the manual method in AAE based on CT reconstruction of the costal cartilage., Clinical Relevance Statement: Aging leads to diseases, functional performance deterioration, and both physical and physiological damage over time. One effective strategy for treating atherosclerosis is to inhibit the injury of vascular endothelial cells (VECs) induced by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) and high glucose (HG). This study synthesized and evaluated a series of novel Nrf2 activators derived from the marine natural product phidianidine for their ability to protect human umbilical VECs against oxLDL- and HG-induced injury. The results of in vitro bioassays demonstrated that compound D-36 was the most promising Nrf2 activator, effectively inhibiting the apoptosis of HUVECs induced by oxLDL and HG. Furthermore, Nrf2 knockdown experiments confirmed that compound D-36 protected against oxLDL- and HG-induced apoptosis in HUVECs by activating the Nrf2 pathway. Rice blast, caused by Magnaporthe oryzae , is a major threat to global rice production causing significant crop losses and impacting grain quality. The annual loss of rice production due to this disease ranges from 10% to 30%. The use of biologically controlled strains, instead of chemical pesticides, to control plant diseases has become a research hotspot. In this study, an antagonistic endophytic bacterial strain was isolated from the roots of Oryza officinalis using the traditional isolation and culture methods. A phylogenetic tree based on 16S RNA and whole-genome sequencing identified isolate G5 as a strain of Bacillus subtilis . This isolate displayed strong antagonistic effects against different physiological strains of M. oryzae . After co-culture in LB medium for 7 days, the inhibition rates of the mycelial growth of four strains of M. oryzae , ZB15, WH97, Guy11, and T-39800E were 98.07 ± 0.0034%, 98.59 ± 0.0051%, 99.16 ± 0.0012%, and 98.69 ± 0.0065%, respectively. Isolate G5 significantly inhibited the formation of conidia of M. oryzae , with an inhibition rate of 97% at an OD 600 of 2. Isolate G5 was able to provide 66.81% protection against rice blast under potted conditions. Whole-genome sequencing revealed that the genome size of isolate G5 was 4,065,878 bp, including 4,182 coding genes. Using the anti-SMASH software, 14 secondary metabolite synthesis gene clusters were predicted to encode antifungal substances, such as fengycin, surfactin, and bacilysin. The G5 isolate also contained genes related to plant growth promotion. These findings provide a theoretical basis for expounding the biocontrol mechanisms of this strain and suggest further development of biogenic agents that could effectively inhibit rice blast pathogen growth and reduce crop damage, while being environmentally friendly, conducive to ecological development, and a sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides. Recent studies have shown that a 9-hour fast in mice reduces the amount of time spent immobile in the forced swimming test. However, whether 9-hour fasting has therapeutic effects in female mice with depressive symptoms has not been established. Therefore, in this study, we simulated perimenopausal depression via an ovariectomy in mice, and subjected them to a single 9-hour fasting 7 days later. We found that the ovariectomy increased the time spent immobile in the forced swimming test, inhibited expression of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 signaling pathway in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, and decreased the density of dendritic spines in the hippocampus. The 9-hour acute fasting alleviated the above-mentioned phenomena. Furthermore, all of the antidepressant-like effects of 9-hour fasting were reversed by an inhibitor of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1. Electrophysiology data showed a remarkable increase in long-term potentiation in the hippocampal CA1 of the ovariectomized mice subjected to fasting compared with the findings in the ovariectomized mice not subjected to fasting. These findings show that the antidepressant-like effects of 9-hour fasting may be related to the activation of the mammalian target of the rapamycin complex 1 signaling pathway and synaptic plasticity in the mammalian hippocampus. Radiology plays a crucial role in forensic anthropology for age estimation. However, most studies rely on morphological methods. This study aims to investigate the feasibility of using pubic bone mineral density (BMD) as a new age estimation method in the Chinese population. 468 pubic bone CT scans from living individuals in a Chinese hospital aged 18 to 87 years old were used to measure pubic BMD. The BMD of the bilateral pubic bone was measured using the Mimics software on cross-sectional CT images and the mean BMD of the bilateral pubic bone was also calculated. Regression analysis was performed to assess the correlation between pubic BMD and chronological age and to develop mathematical models for age estimation. We evaluated the accuracy of the best regression model using an independent validation sample by calculating the mean absolute error (MAE). Among all established models, the cubic regression model had the highest R 2 value in both genders, with R 2  = 0.550 for males and R 2  = 0.634 for females. The results of the best model test showed that the MAE for predicting age using pubic BMD was 8.66 years in males and 7.69 years in females. This study highlights the potential of pubic BMD as a useful objective indicator for adult age estimation and could be used as an alternative in forensic practice when other better indicators are lacking., (© 2023. Background: Prophylactic enterostomy surgery is a common surgical approach used to reduce the risk of anastomotic leakage in patients who have undergone partial intestinal resection due to trauma or tumors. However, the traditional interrupted suturing technique used in enterostomy closure surgery has several issues, including longer surgical incisions and higher incision tension, which can increase the risk of postoperative complications. To address these issues, scholars have proposed the use of a "gunsight suture" technique. This technique involves using a gunsight incision instead of a traditional linear incision, leaving a gap in the center for the drainage of blood and fluid to reduce the risk of infection. Building on this technique, we propose an improved gunsight suture technique. A drainage tube is placed at the lowest point of the incision and close the gap in the center of the gunsight suture, which theoretically facilitates early postoperative mobility and reduces the burden of dressing changes, thereby reducing the risk of postoperative complications., Aim: To compare the effectiveness of improved gunsight suture technique with traditional interrupted suture in closing intestinal stomas., Methods: In this study, a retrospective, single-center case analysis was conducted on 270 patients who underwent prophylactic ileostomy closure surgery at the Department of Colorectal Surgery of Qilu Hospital from April 2017 to December 2021. The patients were divided into two groups: 135 patients received sutures using the improved gunsight method, while the remaining 135 patients were sutured with the traditional interrupted suture method. We collected data on a variety of parameters, such as operation time, postoperative pain score, body temperature, length of hospital stays, laboratory indicators, incidence of incisional complications, number of wound dressing changes, and hospitalization costs. Non-parametric tests and chi-square tests were utilized for data analysis., Results: There were no statistically significant differences in general patient information between the two groups, including the interval between the first surgery and the stoma closure [132 (105, 184) d vs 134 (109, 181) d, P = 0.63], gender ratio (0.64 vs 0.69, P = 0.44), age [62 (52, 68) years vs 60 (52, 68) years, P = 0.33], preoperative body mass index (BMI) [23.83 (21.60, 25.95) kg/m² vs 23.12 (20.94, 25.06) kg/m², P = 0.17]. The incidence of incision infection in the improved gunsight suture group tended to be lower than that in the traditional interrupted suture group [ ( n = 2/135, 1.4%) vs ( n = 10/135, 7.4%), P < 0.05], and the postoperative hospital stay in the improved gunsight suture group was significantly shorter than that in the traditional interrupted suture group [5 (4, 7) d vs 7 (6, 8) d, P < 0.05]. Additionally, the surgical cost in the modified gunsight suture group was slightly lower than that in the traditional suture group [4840 (4330, 5138) yuan vs 4980 (4726, 5221) yuan, P > 0.05], but there was no significant difference in the total hospitalization cost between the two groups., Conclusion: In stoma closure surgery, the improved gunsight technique can reduce the incision infection rate, shorten the postoperative hospital stay, reduce wound tension, and provide better wound cosmetic effects compared to traditional interrupted suture., Competing Interests: Conflict-of-interest statement: The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest., (©The Author(s) 2023. Objective: The impact of the dietary potential inflammatory effect on diabetic kidney disease (DKD) has not been adequately investigated. The present study aimed to explore the association between dietary inflammatory index (DII) and DKD in US adults., Design: This is a cross-sectional study., Setting: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007-2016) were used. DII was calculated from 24-h dietary recall interviews. DKD was defined as diabetes with albuminuria, impaired glomerular filtration rate or both. Logistic regression and restricted cubic spline models were adopted to evaluate the associations., Participants: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007-2016) were used, which can provide the information of participants., Results: Four thousand two-hundred and sixty-four participants were included in this study. The adjusted OR of DKD was 1·04 (95 % CI 0·81, 1·36) for quartile 2, 1·24 (95 % CI 0·97, 1·59) for quartile 3 and 1·64 (95 % CI 1·24, 2·17) for quartile 4, respectively, compared with the quartile 1 of DII. A linear dose-response pattern was observed between DII and DKD ( P nonlinearity = 0·73). In the stratified analyses, the OR for quartile 4 of DII were significant among adults with higher educational level (OR 1·83, 95 % CI 1·26, 2·66) and overweight or obese participants (OR 1·67, 95 % CI 1·23, 2·28), but not among the corresponding another subgroup. The interaction effects between DII and stratified factors on DKD were not statistically significant (all P values for interactions were >0·05)., Conclusions: Our findings suggest that a pro-inflammatory diet, shown by a higher DII score, is associated with increased odd of DKD.

Background: Elderly rheumatoid arthritis (ERA) population faces multiple treatment dilemma. Here we aim to investigate if Gancao Nourishing-Yin decoction (GCNY) added to methotrexate (MTX) exhibit better effects in an ERA mice model., Methods: ERA mice model was established by adding D-galactose (Dgal) to collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice. The model was then assigned into control group (CIA + Dgal), MTX treatment group (MTX), GCNY treatment group (GCNY), and integrative treatment group (MTX + GCNY). Pathological scoring was performed to evaluate the severity between the groups. Proteomic analysis was applied to investigate the secretory phenotype of the ERA mouse model and the underlying mechanism of GCNY, MTX and their combination. Representative cytokines related to proteomic results were further validated by ELISAs., Results: CIA + Dgal mice showed more aggressive joints damage than the CIA mice. Besides changes in the inflammatory pathway such as Pi3k-Akt signaling pathway in both model, differential expressed proteins (DEPs) indicated metabolism-related pathways were more obvious in CIA + Dgal mice. Low-dose MTX failed to show pathological improvement in CIA + Dgal mice, while GCNY improved joints damage significantly. Besides down-regulated inflammation-related targets, GCNY-regulated DEPs (such as Apoc1 ~ 3, Grk2 and Creb3l3) were broadly enriched in metabolism-related pathways. MTX + GCNY showed the best therapeutic effect, and the DEPs enriched in a variety of inflammatory,metabolism and osteoclast differentiation signaling pathway. Notably, MTX + GCNY treatment up-regulated Dhfr, Cbr1, Shmt1 involved in folic acid biosynthesis and anti-folate resistance pathways indicated a coincidence synergic action. ELISAs confirmed CPR and Akt that elevated in CIA + Dgal mice were significantly ameliorated by treatments, and adding on GCNY elevated folic acid levels and its regulator Dhfr., Conclusion: Aging aggravated joints damage in CIA, which probably due to metabolic changes rather than more severe inflammation. Background: Cyclosporin A is a calcineurin inhibitor which has a narrow therapeutic window and high interindividual variability. Various population pharmacokinetic models have been reported; however, professional software and technical personnel were needed and the variables of the models were limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish a model based on machine learning to predict CsA trough concentrations in Chinese allo-HSCT patients., Methods: A total of 7874 cases of CsA therapeutic drug monitoring data from 2069 allo-HSCT patients were retrospectively included. Sequential forward selection was used to select variable subsets, and eight different algorithms were applied to establish the prediction model., Results: XGBoost exhibited the highest prediction ability. Except for the variables that were identified by previous studies, some rarely reported variables were found, such as norethindrone, WBC, PAB, and hCRP. The prediction accuracy within ±30% of the actual trough concentration was above 0.80, and the predictive ability of the models was demonstrated to be effective in external validation., Conclusion: In this study, models based on machine learning technology were established to predict CsA levels 3-4 days in advance during the early inpatient phase after HSCT. A new perspective for CsA clinical application is provided.

The objective of this work was to investigate the chemical compositions of the essential oil (EO) extracted from Senecio scandens by hydrodistillation and their insecticidal activities against Tribolium castaneum , Lasioderma serricorne and Liposceis bostrychophila . The chemical profile of the EO were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and 20 compounds were identified which accounted for 88.03% of the total EO. Five major compounds identified in the EO were assayed against the three stored product insects. The EO showed strong contact toxicity to T. castaneum (LD 50 = 18.01 μg/adult), L. serricorne (LD 50 = 20.11 μg/adult) and L. bostrychophila (LD 50 = 72.14 μg/cm 2 ). Among all compounds, geraniol showed the contact toxicity against L. serricorne and L. bostrychophila with LD 50 values of 15.82 μg/adult and 26.64 μg/cm 2 . The EO and its five chemical compounds also exhibited different level of potential repellence to the three stored product insects.

Background: Bile acids play an important role in the amelioration of type 2 diabetes following duodenal-jejunal bypass (DJB). Serum bile acids are elevated postoperatively. However, the clinical relevance is not known. Bile acids in the peripheral circulation reflect the amount of bile acids in the gut. Therefore, a further investigation of luminal bile acids following DJB is of great significance., Aim: To investigate changes of luminal bile acids following DJB., Methods: Salicylhydroxamic acid (SHAM), DJB, and DJB with oral chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) supplementation were performed in a high-fat-diet/streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model. Body weight, energy intake, oral glucose tolerance test, luminal bile acids, serum ceramides and intestinal ceramide synthesis were analyzed at week 12 postoperatively., Results: Compared to SHAM, DJB achieved rapid and durable improvement in glucose tolerance and led to increased total luminal bile acid concentrations with preferentially increased proportion of farnesoid X receptor (FXR) - inhibitory bile acids within the common limb. Intestinal ceramide synthesis was repressed with decreased serum ceramides, and this phenomenon could be partially antagonized by luminal supplementation of FXR activating bile acid CDCA., Conclusion: DJB significantly changes luminal bile acid composition with increased proportion FXR-inhibitory bile acids and reduces serum ceramide levels. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Wen-Luo-Tong Granules (WLT) local administration in the treatment of patients with peripheral neuropathy (PN) induced by chemotherapy or target therapy., Methods: This study is a randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled trial. Seventy-eight patients with PN induced by chemotherapy or target therapy were enrolled from China-Japan Friendship Hospital between July 2019 and January 2020. They were randomly assigned to WLT (39 cases) and control groups (39 cases) using a block randomization method. The WLT group received WLT (hand and foot bath) plus oral Mecobalamin for 1 week, while the control group received placebo plus oral Mecobalamin. The primary endpoint was PN grade evaluated by the National Cancer Institute-Common Toxicity Criteria for Adverse Events (NCI-CTCAE). The secondary endpoints included quantitative touch-detection threshold, neuropathy symptoms, Quality of Life Questionnaire-Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (QLQ-CIPN20), and Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core30 (QLQ-C30)., Results: After treatment, the PN grade in the WLT group was significantly lower than that in the control group (1.00 ± 0.29 vs. 1.75 ± 0.68, P<0.01). The total effective rate in the WLT group was significantly higher than that in the control group (82.05% vs. 51.28%, P<0.01). Compared with the control group, the touch-detection thresholds at fingertips, neuropathy symptom score, QLQ-CIPN 20 (sensory scale, motor scale, autonomic scale, and sum score), and QLQ-C30 (physical functioning, role functioning, emotional functioning, and global health) in the WLT group significantly improved after treatment (P<0.01 or P<0.05)., Conclusion: WLT local administration was significantly effective in the treatment of patients with PN induced by chemotherapy or target therapy. Introduction: Surgical resection of medulloblastoma (MB) remains a challenge. At present, a variety of tracers have been used for intraoperative tumor visualization. However, there are few reports on the intraoperative visualization of MB. Hence, we reported our experience of applying fluorescein sodium (FS) in MB surgery., Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical information of patients with MB confirmed by surgery and pathology from January 2016 to December 2020 from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. A total of 62 patients were enrolled, of which 27 received intraoperative FS and 35 did not. The intraoperative dose of FS was 3 mg/kg., Results: Among the 62 patients, 42 were males, and twenty were females. The age of onset in the FS group was 9.588 ± 7.322, which in the non-fluorescein sodium group was 13.469 ± 10.968, p = 0.198. We did not find significant differences in tumor location, tumor size, tumor resection, tumor histology, and preoperative symptoms (hydrocephalus, headache, vomit, balance disorder) between the groups. There was no significant difference in the postoperative symptoms (hydrocephalus, headache, vomiting, balance disorder, and cerebellar mutism). However, patients in the FS group had a relatively low incidence of balance disorder and cerebellar mutism. There was definite fluorescence of tumor in all cases of the FS group, and even the tiny metastatic lesion was visible. No case had side effects related to the use of FS., Conclusions: FS is safe and effective in MB surgery. Objective: To investigate the expression characteristics of SOX10 and GATA3 in breast cancer and the value of their combination. Methods: A total of 360 breast cancer specimens with SOX10 immunohistochemical staining were collected from the Department of Pathology in Shenzhen People's Hospital from 2018 to 2021, including 268 cases with simultaneous SOX10 and GATA3 staining. The expression of SOX10 and GATA3 in primary and metastatic breast cancer was detected, and the correlations between SOX10 and GATA3 and the molecular types and clinicopathological features of breast cancer were compared, and the distribution differences among each group were statistically analyzed. Results: The overall expression of SOX10 and GATA3 in breast cancer were 25.8%(93/360) and 81.7%(219/268), and that in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) were 83.3%(80/96) and 42.7%(32/75), respectively. SOX10 was strongly associated with TNBC ( P <0.001), whereas GATA3 was highly expressed in luminal A, luminal B and HER2 over expression breast cancers ( P <0.001). The expression of SOX10 and GATA3 was negatively correlated in TNBC, and the combined expression rates of SOX10 and GATA3 in breast cancer and TNBC could reach 97.8% (262/268) and 94.7%(71/75), respectively. In addition, the expression of SOX10 was closely correlated with high histological grade, high Ki-67 proliferation index and lymph node metastasis, and negatively correlated with AR. The expression of GATA3 was correlated with low histological grade and lymph node metastasis, and positively correlated with AR, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions: SOX10 is a sensitive marker of TNBC, while GATA3 is highly expressed in non-triple negative breast cancer. The two complementary, combined application of SOX10-GATA3 can improve the detection rate of breast cancer, especially TNBC. SOX10 is associated with malignant characteristics of the tumor, suggesting that SOX10 can be used as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target for breast cancer.

Inhibition of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL)-induced vascular endothelial cell (VEC) injury is one of the effective strategies for treating atherosclerosis. In the present study, a series of novel marine phidianidine-inspired indole-1,2,4-oxadiazoles was designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their effects against oxLDL-induced injury in VECs. Among them, compound D-6, displaying the most effective protective activity, was found to inhibit oxLDL-induced apoptosis and the expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in VECs. Mechanistic studies showed that D-6 could trigger Nrf2 nuclear translocation, subsequently resulting in increased expression of Nrf2 target gene HO-1. Meanwhile, D-6 suppressed the increase of ROS level and nuclear translocation of NF-κB induced by oxLDL. Importantly, Nrf2 knockdown attenuated the inhibition effects of D-6 on oxLDL-induced apoptosis, ROS production and NF-κB nuclear translocation. With the evolving demands of surgical intervention, there is a strong need for smaller and functionally augmented instruments to improve surgical outcomes, operational convenience, and diagnostic safety. Owing to the narrow and complicated anatomy, the probe head of the medical instrument is required to possess both good maneuverability and compact size. In addition, the development of medical instrument is moving toward patient-specialized, of which the articulation positions can be customized to reach the target position. To fulfill these requirements, this study presents the design of a smart handheld device which equips with a low cost, easy control, disposable flexible wrist, and an electrical bioimpedance sensor for medical diagnosis. Prototype of the device is made and tested. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed device can provide accurate manipulation and effective tissue detection, showing a great potential in various medical applications.

Aging and aging-related metabolic complications are global problems that seriously threaten public health. Taxifolin (TAX) is a novel health food and has been widely proved to have a variety of biological activities used in food and medicine. However, the delayed effect of TAX on the aging process has not been investigated. The purpose of this study is to explore the role of TAX as a natural active substance on aging brain tissue induced by D-galactose (D-Gal) and to determine the effect of supplementing TAX on the metabolism of the intestinal flora in aging bodies. The aging model was established by intraperitoneal injection of D-Gal (800 mg kg -1 ) once per 3 days for 12 weeks, and TAX (20 and 40 mg kg -1 ) was administered daily by oral gavage after 6 weeks of induction with D-Gal. After testing aging mice in an eight-arm maze, the results showed that TAX treatment significantly restored spatial learning and memory impairment. Moreover, long-term D-Gal treatment incited cholinergic dysfunction of aging mice, and H&E staining revealed obvious histopathological damage and structural disorder in the hippocampus of mouse brain tissue, while TAX treatment significantly reversed these changes. Importantly, supplementing with TAX significantly mitigated oxidative stress injury by alleviating the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) while increasing antioxidant enzymes. Furthermore, TAX decreased the apoptosis of the aging brain by regulating the phosphorylation levels of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (AKT), and activating nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), nuclear heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and NADH dehydrogenase quinone 1 (NQO1) to maximally moderate the oxidative stress injury that occurred after D-Gal induction. In addition, 16S rDNA analysis revealed that TAX treatment decelerated the D-gal-induced aging process by regulating the composition of the intestinal flora and abundance of beneficial bacteria, including Enterorhabdus , Clostridium , Bifidobacterium , and Parvibacter . In conclusion, the results of this study demonstrated that TAX alleviated oxidative stress injury in mice aged by D-Gal and also confirmed that TAX improved the aging process by regulating intestinal microbes, which provides the possibility of prevention and treatment for aging and metabolic disorders through the potential food health factors.

Endothelial barrier integrity requires recycling of VE-cadherin to adherens junctions. Both p18 and Rab11a play significant roles in VE-cadherin recycling. However, the underlying mechanism and the role of p18 in activating Rab11a have yet to be elucidated. Performing in vitro and in vivo experiments, we showed that p18 protein bound to VE-cadherin before Rab11a through its VE-cadherin-binding domain (aa 1-39). Transendothelial resistance showed that overexpression of p18 promoted the circulation of VE-cadherin to adherens junctions and the recovery of the endothelial barrier. Silencing of p18 caused endothelial barrier dysfunction and prevented Rab11a-positive recycling endosome accumulation in the perinuclear recycling compartments. Furthermore, p18 knockdown in pulmonary microvessels markedly increased vascular leakage in mice challenged with lipopolysaccharide and cecal ligation puncture. Background: Psoriasis is a systemic inflammatory disease characterized by epidermal hyperplasia and skin inflammatory infiltrates. Inactivation of AMPK has been shown to decrease autophagy, thereby inhibiting elimination of inflammatory factors and harmful substances, and aggravating psoriasis. However, the molecular mechanism through which AMPK affects psoriasis remains to be further explored. In this study, we investigated whether AMPK regulates autophagy through the ULK1/Atg7 signaling pathway and regulates mitochondrial autophagy through the PINK1/Parkin signaling pathway, thereby affecting a mouse model of psoriasis., Methods: Imiquimod was used to induce psoriasis-like lesions on the backs of mice. The severity of skin lesions in psoriatic mice was evaluated with the skin inflammation severity score, and epidermal thickness was measured on the basis of H&E staining. RT-PCR, western blotting and immunofluorescence staining were used to detect indicators of autophagy and mitochondrial autophagy., Results: AMPK activity was inhibited in the psoriasis mouse model, the autophagy-associated proteins ULK1/Atg7 were inhibited, and the mitochondrial autophagy proteins PINK1/Parkin were also decreased. Results indicated that autophagy and mitochondrial autophagy were inhibited in the mouse model. When AMPK signaling was upregulated, ULK1/Atg7 and PINK1/Parkin were upregulated, autophagy and mitochondrial autophagy increased, and skin lesions in the mouse model were alleviated. ULK1/Atg7 and PINK1/Parkin were down-regulated when AMPK signaling was downregulated, and psoriasis-like skin lesions were aggravated in mice. As a member of the signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) family, STAT3 plays a critical role in several biological pathways such as cell proliferation, migration, survival, and differentiation. Due to abnormal continuous activation in tumors, inhibition of STAT3 has emerged as an attractive approach for the treatment of various cancer cells. Herein, we report a series of novel STAT3 inhibitors based on benzo[b]thiophene 1,1-dioxide scaffold and evaluated their anticancer potency. Among them, compound 8b exhibited the best activity against cancer cells. Compound 8b induced apoptosis and blocked the cell cycle. Meanwhile, 8b reduced intracellular ROS content and caused the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential. Further research revealed that 8b significantly blocked STAT3 phosphorylation and STAT3-dependent dual-luciferase reporter gene experiments showed that compound 8b has a marked inhibition of STAT3-mediated Firefly luciferase activity. Ten undescribed picrotoxane-type sesquiterpenoids, dendrowardins A-J, together with two known ones, were isolated from the stems of Dendrobium wardianum Warner (Orchidaceae). Dendrowardins A-D feature the unusual 5,2-δ-lactone and additionally dendrowardins C-D are the first examples containing the 11,10-γ-lactone moiety. The structures were established using spectroscopic methods and by comparison with literature data. Background: The cisterna Intrathecal Drug Delivery system (IDDS) with morphine has proven to be effective in treating refractory cancer pain above the middle thoracic vertebrae level in some countries. However, it has not been fully investigated in others. We designed the current project to investigate the efficacy and safety of cisterna IDDS for pain relief in refractory pain above the middle thoracic vertebrae level in advanced cancer patients., Methods: This study protocol allows for eligible cancer patients to receive the cisterna IDDS operation. Pain intensity (Visual Analogue scale, VAS), quality of life (36-Item Short-Form Health Survey, SF-36), and depression (Self-Rating Depression scale, SDS) are assessed along with side effects in the postoperative follow-up visits. Cysteine (Cys) is an important endogenous amino acid and plays critical physiological roles in living systems. Herein, an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-targeting fluorescent probe (FER-Cys) was designed and prepared for imaging of Cys in living cells. The probe FER-Cys consists of a fluorescein framework as the fluorescent platform, acrylate group as the response site for the selective recognition of Cys, and ER-specific p-toluenesulfonamide fragment. After the response of probe FER-Cys to Cys, a turn-on fluorescence signal at 546 nm could be detected obviously. The probe FER-Cys further shows desirable selectivity to Cys. Finally, the probe FER-Cys was proven to selectively detect Cys in live cells and successfully image the changes of Cys level in the cell models of H 2 O 2 -induced redox imbalance.

Background: For patients suffering from primary or metastatic cancer above the middle thoracic vertebrae, refractory pain management still remains a great challenge. Theoretically, inserting a catheter tip into the cisterna magna may be a promising solution. However, at present, there have been no reliable data regarding this novel technique. We therefore investigated the efficacy and safety of an advanced approach for pain relief in a specific population., Methods: Thirty participants from two hospitals received the intrathecal deliveries of opioid to either one of two sites: cisterna magna (n = 15) or lower thoracic region (n = 15). Pain relief (visual analogue scale, VAS), quality of life (short form (36) health survey, SF-36) as well as depression (self-rating depression scale, SDS) were assessed in the follow-up visits and compared between the two groups., Results: Patients receiving intrathecal morphine delivery to cisterna magna achieved greater pain improvement indicated as significant decrease of VAS scores at day 1 and 7, and achieved better improvement in physical function (day 7 and 30), role physical (day 7 and 30), body pain (day 7, 30 and 90), general health (day 7, 30 and 90), vitality (day 7, 30 and 90), social function (day 90), role emotional (day 7 and 90), mental health (day 7, 30 and 90) and SDS (day 1 and 7)., Conclusions: Intrathecal morphine delivery to cisterna magna might be an effective and safe technique for patients suffering from cancer at the middle thoracic vertebrae or above to control refractory pain. Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) as an important signaling biomolecule participates in a series of complex physiological and pathological processes. In situ and rapid detection of H 2 S levels in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is of great importance for the in-depth study of its virtual functional roles. However, the ER-targeting fluorescent probe for the detection of H 2 S in live cells is still quite rare. Herein, a new ER-targeting fluorescent probe (FER-H 2 S) for detecting H 2 S in live cells was characterized in the present study. This probe FER-H 2 S was built from the hybridization of three parts, including fluorescein-based skeleton, p-toluenesulfonamide as ER-specific group, and 2,4-nitrobenzene sulfonate as a response site for H 2 S. The response mechanism of the probe FER-H 2 S to H 2 S is on the basis of the ring-opening and ring-closing processes in fluorescein moiety. Background: Liver cancer is among the most common malignancy worldwide. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the principal histological subtype of liver cancer, is globally the third most common cause of cancer-related mortality. The high rates of recurrence and metastasis contribute to the poor prognosis of HCC patients. In recent years, increasing evidence has shown that microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the tumorigenesis, progression, and prognosis of HCC., Methods: To screen for key candidate miRNAs in HCC, three microarray datasets were downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). The sole common differentially expressed miRNA (DEmiR) observed in the above three datasets using a Venn diagram was microRNA-211-5p (miR-211-5p). The expression of miR-211-5p from HCC tissues was measured in several HCC cell lines. Additionally, using Kaplan-Meier plots, the potential prognostic value of miR-211-5p in HCC was analyzed. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and transwell assays examined the ability of miR-211-5p to induce cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in HCC cultures. The interaction of miR-211-5p and Acyl-CoA Synthetase Long Chain Family Member 4 (ACSL4) was assessed both theoretically and using a luciferase reporter assay. Finally, the ability of miR-211-5p to modulate tumorigenesis in HCC in vivo was assessed after establishing a xenograft model., Results: qRT-PCR demonstrated that the relative expression of miR-211-5p was considerably down-regulated in HCC tissues and cell lines compared with normal tissue. Kaplan-Meier plots indicated that HCC patients with decreased expression of miR-211-5p had poor overall survival. Upregulation of miR-211-5p in vitro consistently suppressed cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. In contrast, enhanced expression of ACSL4 promoted a malignant phenotype in HCC cells. Importantly, we discovered that ACSL4 was a direct downstream target of miR-211-5p in HCC, and that miR-211-5p suppressed the malignant phenotype by inhibition of ACSL4 expression. Furthermore, miR-211-5p overexpression impaired tumorigenesis and growth of HCC in vivo., Conclusions: Targeting miR-211-5p and the downstream gene ACSL4 will possibly provide novel insight and represents a promising approach to future therapy of HCC patients.

Two unusual dendrobine-type alkaloids, findlayines E and F (1, 2), along with five known dendrobine-type alkaloids (3-7), were isolated from the stems of Dendrobium findlayanum Par. et Rchb. f. Compound 1 is the first example of dendrobine-type alkaloids with a 2-ethoxy-2-oxoethyl group attaching to the C-2, and compound 2 is a nor-dendrobine-type alkaloid, featuring a 5-decarboxylated structure. The structures of compounds 1 and 2 were elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic analyses, and their absolute configuration were confirmed by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations. Bimetallic nanomaterials, which exhibit a combination of the properties associated with two different metals, have enabled innovative applications in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Here, we introduce the fabrication of dendritic Au/Ag bimetallic nanostructures for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and catalytic applications. The dendritic Au/Ag bimetallic nanostructures were prepared by combining the electrochemical deposition and replacement reaction. The formation of Au nanoparticle shell on the surface of Ag dendrites greatly improves the stability of dendritic nanostructures, followed by a significant SERS enhancement. In addition, these dendritic Au/Ag bimetallic nanostructures are extremely efficient in degrading 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) compared with the initial dendritic Ag nanostructures. These experimental results indicate the great potential of the dendritic Au/Ag bimetallic nanostructures for the development of excellent SERS substrate and highly efficient catalysts.

In this study, Donghua Hospital information management system and Meikang clinical pharmacy management system were used to collect medical records of all inpatients diagnosed as coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) in Wuhan Third Hospital. The statistics was based on the data of the cases treated with Ganlu Xiaodu Decoction, including demographic statistics, clinical cha-racteristics before medication, outcome of after medication and efficacy of drug combination. Excel 2003 and SPSS Clementine 12.0 software were used to conduct statistics on the included cases, and Apriori algorithm and association rules were used for the association analysis on drug combination. A total of 131 cases of COVID-19 were treated with Ganlu Xiaodu Decoction combined with Chinese and Western medicine. All of the patients were cured and discharged. The drug combination mainly included Ganlu Xiaodu Decoction, abidor, Lianhua Qingwen, moxifloxacin, Qiangli Pipa Lu, vitamin C, glycyrrhizinate diammonium, pantoprazole and Shufeng Jiedu. There is a certain regularity and effectiveness in the treatment of COVID-19 infection patients with the combination of Ganlu Xiaodu Decoction and other drugs, but the rationality and safety still need to be further verified.

Exploiting photocatalysts with characteristics of low cost, high reactivity and good recyclability is a great significance for environmental remediation and energy conversion. Herein, hollow TiO 2 nanotubes were fabricated by a novel and efficient method via electrospinning and an impregnation calcination method. With the hydrothermal method, the CdS nanoparticles were modified on the surface and in walls of the TiO 2 nanotubes. By changing the reaction conditions, the morphology of CdS nanoparticles presents a controllable three-dimensional (3D) structure. The morphology of the samples was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The structure and components of samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The light absorption efficiency was detected using UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and photoluminescence (PL). The photocatalytic properties were evaluated by degradation of methyl orange (MO) and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution under visible light irradiation. From the results, the TiO 2 /CdS nanotubes exhibit better photocatalytic activity than the pure TiO 2 . In order to remarkably enhance the absorption capability of (CH 3 NH 3 )PbI 3 , a tunable narrow-band (CH 3 NH 3 )PbI 3 -based perfect absorber based on the critical coupling with guided resonance is proposed. By using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations, a complete absorption peak is achieved at the wavelength of 1310 nm. Moreover, we have compared the simulation results with theoretical calculations, which agree well with each other. By changing related structural parameters, the wavelength of absorption peak can be tuned effectively. Furthermore, the proposed absorber can tolerate a relatively wide range of incident angles and demonstrate polarization-independence. In addition to (CH 3 NH 3 )PbI 3 , the complete optical absorption in the other halide perovskites can be realized by the same mechanism.

Three new sesquiterpene glycosides with alloaromadendrane and ylangene-derived type aglycones, named dendrofindlayanosides A-C (1-3), one new cyclopacamphane type sesquiterpene named dendrofindlayanobilin A (4), together with five known compounds have been isolated from stems of Dendrobium findlayanum. In this study, In(OH)₃ nanocrystals with three morphologies including rods, cubes and spheres were synthesized through a hydrothermal method. The morphology and crystalline were manipulated by controlling the growth speed and the addition of ascorbic acid. The InVO₄ nanocrystals were obtained by a process sacrificing In(OH)₃ templates. The phase transformation of rods and cubes generated size-controllable products, whereas that of nanospheres formed hollow micro-spheres. InVO₄ nanocrystals display a brilliant yellow emission band with the peak at 517 nm. Intriguingly, luminescent rare-earth Eu ions with red emission could be doped into InVO₄ nanocrystals during the phase transformation. Excitation and the emission spectra indicated an excitation energy transfer from the vanadate to the rare-earth ions.

Inflammation constitutes an important component of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. STAT3 is a direct target of inflammatory cytokines, but also mediates glycolipid metabolism in the liver. As a potent inhibitor of STAT3, the effect of Nifuroxazide (Nifu) on glycolipid metabolism in liver has not been reported. In this study, we used palmitic acid (PA)-induced HepG2 cells to examine the expression of inflammatory factors and apoptosis-related proteins and the content of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), and glycogen. The expression of hepatic lipogenic proteins (ACCα, SREBP-1c, FAS), gluconeogenesis enzymes (PEPCK, G6Pase, and IRS2), the IL-6/STAT3/SOCS3 inflammatory axis, and the insulin signaling pathway was determined. Our study shows that Nifu significantly improves lipid metabolism disorders in the PA-induced HepG2 cells, whereas, it remarkably reduced intracellular free fatty acid (FFA), TG, and TC content, suppressed lipid synthesis, and increased lipid decomposition. Our results also showed that Nifu significantly improved dysregulated glucose metabolism in the PA-treated HepG2 cells, increased glycogen content, and inhibited gluconeogenesis. Further research indicated that Nifu markedly inhibited activation of the IL-6/STAT3/SOCS3 signaling pathway. Finally, due to anti-inflammatory stress, Nifu enhanced insulin signaling in the PA-induced HepG2 cells. Therefore, Nifu can improve glucose and lipid metabolism in the PA-induced HepG2 cells, which provides new evidence that Nifu has a positive effect on PA-induced cellular hepatic steatosis and improves glucose metabolism in HepG2 cells, providing a new perspective for studying drug treatment of glucose and lipid metabolism disorders., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)

Objective: Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and mitochondrial function affected intramuscular fat accumulation. However, there is no clear evident on the effect of the regulation of ER stress and mitochondrial function by Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) on the prevention of intramuscular fat metabolism. We investigated the effects of ACE2 on ER stress and mitochondrial function in skeletal muscle lipid metabolism., Methods: The triglyceride (TG) content in skeletal muscle of ACE2 knockout mice and Ad-ACE2-treated db/db mice were detected by assay kits. Meanwhile, the expression of lipogenic genes (ACCα, SREBP-1c, LXRα, CPT-1α, PGC-1α and PPARα), ER stress and mitochondrial function related genes (GRP78, eIF2α, ATF4, BCL-2, and SDH6) were analyzed by RT-PCR. Lipid metabolism, ER stress and mitochondrial function related genes were analyzed by RT-PCR in ACE2-overexpression C2C12 cell. Moreover, the IKKβ/NFκB/IRS-1 pathway was determined using lysate sample from skeletal muscle of ACE2 knockout mice., Results: ACE2 deficiency in vivo is associated with increased lipid accumulation in skeletal muscle. The ACE2 knockout mice displayed an elevated level of ER stress and mitochondrial dysfunctions in skeletal muscle. In contrast, activation of ACE2 can ameliorate ER stress and mitochondrial function, which slightly accompanied by reduced TG content and down-regulated the expression of skeletal muscle lipogenic proteins in the db/db mice. Additionally, ACE2 improved skeletal muscle lipid metabolism and ER stress genes in the C2C12 cells. Mechanistically, endogenous ACE2 improved lipid metabolism through the IKKβ/NFκB/IRS-1 pathway in skeletal muscle., Conclusions: ACE2 was first reported to play a notable role on intramuscular fat regulation by improving endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondrial function. This study may provide a strategy for treating insulin resistance in skeletal muscle.
