Here, we reported a three-dimensional mesoporous COF loaded with FeSx nanoparticles, termed JUC-598@FeSx, which can rapidly degrade dyes in the Fenton reaction.

Mounting studies demonstrated both chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) and chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection might be associated not only with an increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma but also extrahepatic malignancies, i.e., gastric cancer (GC). However, a quantitative result addressing the association between HBV/HCV infection and GC development is scarce. A systematic search to identify the eligible studies was performed in four databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and the PsychINFO. The relationship between HBV/HCV infection and the risk of GC was quantified by calculating the hazard ratio (HR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). More methodologies of this study were available in the PROSPERO (ID: CRD42021243719). Thirteen included studies involving 7,027,546 individuals (mean age, 42.6-71.9 years) were enrolled in the pooled analyses. Two articles provided the clinical data of both HBV and HCV infections. The proportion of high methodological quality studies was 76.9% (10/13). Synthetic results from 10 eligible studies of HBV showed that HBV infection was associated with a significantly higher risk of GC when compared with the healthy controls without HBV infection (pooled HR, 1.26; 95% CI, 1.08–1.47; P = 0.003; heterogeneity, I2 = 89.3%; P< 0.001). In line with this finding, the combined effect derived from five included studies of HCV also supported a significant positive association between chronic HBV infection and GC development (pooled HR, 1.88; 95% CI, 1.28–2.76; P = 0.001; heterogeneity, I2 = 74.7%; P = 0.003). In conclusion, both chronic HBV and HCV infections were related to a high risk of GC. The plausible mechanisms underlying such association might be correlated to HBV/HCV infection-induced persistent inflammation, immune dysfunction, and cirrhosis.Systematic Review RegistrationPROSPERO (http://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO), identifier (CRD42021243719).

Western blot was used to evaluate protein levels of Bax, Bcl-2, YAP, p-YAP, and Lats, and gene expression was measured by real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). Results: CL-6 dose dependently reduced proliferation, increased apoptosis, and inhibited the migration and invasion abilities of AGS and MGC-803 cells. CL-6 also increased levels of pro-apoptotic protein Bax, decreased levels of antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2, and increased the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio. CL-6 treatment also inhibited YAP and YAP protein and mRNA expression, while it induced the expression of Lats and p-YAP (Ser127). Conclusion: CL-6 induces apoptosis of GC cells by activating the Hippo–YAP signaling pathway. These results indicate the therapeutic potential of the novel curcumin derivative CL-6 in GC. The property expansion of three-dimensional (3D) functionalized covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is important for developing their potential applications. Herein, we report the first case of 3D hydrazone-decorated COFs as pH-triggered molecular switches, and explore their application in the stimuli-responsive drug delivery system. These functionalized COFs with hydrazone groups on the channel walls were obtained via a multi-component bottom-up synthesis strategy. They exhibit a reversible E/Z isomerization at various pH values, confirmed by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and proton conduction. Remarkably, after loading cytarabine (Ara-C) as a model drug molecule, these pH-responsive COFs showed an excellent and intelligent sustained-release effect with an almost 4-fold increase in the Ara-C release at pH = 4.8 than at pH = 7.4, which will effectively improve drug-targeting and reduce drug side effects. Thus, these results open a way toward designing 3D stimuli-responsive functionalized COF materials and promote their potential application as drug carriers in the field of disease treatment.

A luminescent 3D metal-organic framework, [CdL(H2O)]·1DMF·1.5H2O (1, L = 1-(4-carboxyphenyl)-5-methyl-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), has been successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. The overall structure of 1 contains hexagonal channels and is constructed by helical SBUs with etb topology. Interestingly, compound 1 exhibits good fluorescence intensity in DMF and can be quenched by trace amounts of Fe3+ ions. The Ksv values of compound 1 towards Fe3+can reach up to 3.5 × 104 which surpass some MOFs materials. More importantly, compound 1 is also a recyclable luminescent sensor which can be potentially applied in detecting Fe3+.

Herein, using the modulator synthesis approach, a zirconium-based metal–organic framework (Zr-MOF), [Zr6O4(OH)4L4(H2O)2(HCOO)4]·9DMF·12H2O (JLU-MOF50, L = H2MDCPB = 5′-methyl-[1,1′,3′,1′′-terphenyl]-4,4′′-dicarboxylic acid, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), with pcu topology was successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. JLU-MOF50 exhibits excellent chemical stability in both acidic and alkaline aqueous solutions. Due to the missing linker sites, high porosity (BET surface area of 1101 m2 g−1), and excellent luminescence property, JLU-MOF50 possesses dual functionalities, which exhibits not only a commendable trapping capacity (92 mg g−1) and an adsorption rate (32.5 mg g−1 min−1), but also high detection sensitivity and selectivity for Cr2O72− in an aqueous phase. It is worth mentioning that the KSV value of JLU-MOF50 towards Cr2O72− can reach up to 4.99 × 104 M−1, which is one of the highest values reported to date for MOF materials. Based on the aforementioned properties, JLU-MOF50 is a good candidate for fast capture and highly luminescence detection of Cr2O72− simultaneously in an aqueous phase.

The aim of this study was to investigate the possible effect of orally administered isavuconazole, ketoconazole, or voriconazole on the pharmacokinetics of methadone in rats. Twenty Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided randomly into four groups: Group A (control), group B (5 mg/kg isavuconazole), group C (5 mg/kg ketoconazole), and group D (5 mg/kg voriconazole). A single dose of methadone was administrated half an hour later. Methadone in plasma concentrations and its metabolite EDDP in microsomes were determined by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method (UPLC-MS/MS), and pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by DAS version 3.0. The Cmax of methadone in groups C and D increased to 2.7-fold and 5-fold, respectively. While AUC increased in three groups and group D increased the most. Also, isavuconazole, ketoconazole, and voriconazole showed inhibitory effect on human and rat microsomes. Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACis) are the recommended treatment for many solid tumors; however, resistance is a major clinical obstacle for their efficacy. High levels of the transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid 2 like-2 (Nrf2) in cancer cells suggest a vital role in chemoresistance, and regulation of autophagy is one mechanism by which Nrf2 mediates chemoresistance. Although the molecular mechanisms underlying this activity are unclear, understanding them may ultimately improve therapeutic outcomes following HDACi treatment. In this study, we found that HDACi treatment increased Nrf2 mRNA and protein levels and enhanced Nrf2 transcriptional activity. Conversely, Nrf2 knockdown or inhibition blocked HDACi-induced autophagy. In addition, a microRNA (miRNA) array identified upregulation of miR-129-3p in response to Nrf2 overexpression. Chromatin immunoprecipitation assays confirmed miR-129-3p to be a direct Nrf2 target. RepTar and RNAhybrid databases indicated mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) as a potential miR-129-3p target, which we experimentally confirmed. Finally, Nrf2 inhibition or miR-129-3p in combination with HDACis increased cell death in vitro and in vivo. Collectively, these results demonstrated that Nrf2 regulates mTOR during HDACi-induced autophagy through miRNA-129-3p and inhibition of this pathway could enhance HDACi-mediated cell death.

Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (TREM-1) engagement can directly trigger inflammation or amplify an inflammatory response by synergizing with TLRs or NLRs. Autoimmune diseases are a family of chronic systemic inflammatory disorders. The pivotal role of TREM-1 in inflammation makes it important to explore its immunological effects in autoimmune diseases. In this review, we summarize the structural and functional characteristics of TREM-1. Particularly, we discuss recent findings on TREM-1 pathway regulation in various autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), type 1 diabetes (T1D), and psoriasis. This receptor may potentially be manipulated to alter the inflammatory response to chronic inflammation and possible therapies are explored in this review.

To achieve the problem of partial occlusion and multi-pose in the face detection, a face detection algorithm based on deep learning is proposed. Through establishing deep model, the probabilistic correlations of the visibilities are learned in different face local region. Firstly, face local regions are detected by part-based face detector. Secondly, the detection results are feed to deep model, which describes the correlations of different regions. Finally, the face detection is completed according to the correlations. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is effective in the case of occlusion and multi-pose.

A rectenna (rectifying antenna) is usually applied to a microwave power transmission (MPT) system as a terminal, which receives microwave (MW) power and converts them into DC power. A 5.8 GHz aperture-coupled patch antenna array is developed with a gain of 19.5 dBi, which is a part of the rectenna. A novel Class-F rectifier with a series diode is proposed to achieve a high rectifying efficiency based on harmonic termination techniques. The input circuit of the proposed rectifier is taken into consideration to reach the Class-F condition, while mostly only the output circuit is involved in conventional Class-F designs. A low-pass filter based on defected ground structure is implemented, which not only blocks the harmonics produced in rectifying but also presents desired impedance at harmonics. A multi-magnetron microwave source, a metamaterial transmitting antenna, and a large power rectenna array are presented to build a near-field 2.45 GHz microwave power transmission system. The square 1 m2 rectenna array consists of sixteen rectennas with 2048 Schottky diodes for large power microwave rectifying. It receives microwave power and converts them into DC power. The design, structure, and measured performance of a unit rectenna as well as the entail rectenna array are presented in detail. The multi-magnetron microwave power source switches between half and full output power levels, i.e. the half-wave and full-wave modes. The transmission antenna is formed by a double-layer metallic hole array, which is applied to combine the output power of each magnetron. The rectenna array DC output power reaches 67.3 W on a 1.2 Ω DC load at a distance of 5.5 m from the transmission antenna. A microwave rectifier at 5.8 GHz without any capacitors is presented, which owns a measured MW-to-DC conversion efficiency of 68.1%. A harmonic rejection filter and a DC pass filter, which replace lumped capacitors in conventional microwave rectifiers, are applied to suppressing the harmonics produced by an HSMS-286 Schottky diode during rectifying. At the fundamental frequency, a microstrip impedance transformer which contains a shunt λg/8 short-ended microstrip transmission line and two short series microstrip transmission lines are applied to compensating the imaginary impedance of the diode and matching the input impedance of the rectifier. The measured MW-to-DC conversion efficiency agrees well to the simulated results. The novel rectifier without any lumped passive elements may be applied for power transmission system at higher microwave frequencies.

This article presents a novel frequency selective surface (FSS) with switchable polarization, which is realized using the improved cross slots with embedded strips and isolated island structure. The transmission characteristics of FSS unit cell for both horizontal polarization and vertical polarization are simulated with CST. And a FSS made of an array of 20 × 20 cells is implemented on the substrate Rogers RO4003. The microwave to direct current (MW-DC) conversion efficiency of a rectifier drops significantly in a dual-frequency microwave power transmission (MPT) system. The measured data show that the MW-DC efficiency of a rectifier drops from 67% to 53% when the microwave source is switched from a continuous wave to a dual-tone waveform at the same power level. It is mainly due to the intermodulation effects resulted from a nonlinear component, e.g., the diode, in a rectifier. A novel rectifier is designed to improve the MW-DC efficiency by recycling the intermodulation power besides the harmonic power. With the novel configuration, the maximum MW-DC conversion efficiency of 62% can be achieved for a dual-tone waveform input at 17 dBm. It implies that more than one half of the intermodulation power has been recycled to DC power.

A novel microwave (MW) rectifier based on a diode array is presented in this paper. The diode array composed with sixteen HSMS-282 Schottky diodes is applied to enhance the MW input power. The proposed configuration improves the rectifier power capacitance from 20 dBm level of a single-diode rectifier up to 30 dBm level. The presented design is to use a diode array to replace a single diode without significant modification on the original rectifying circuit. When the input power is between 23 dBm and 33 dBm and the load is at hundred Ohm level, microwave to direct current (MW-DC) conversion efficiency above 60% is realized. The DC output voltage of the rectifier achieves 20.4 V at a load 600 Ohm, when the input MW power is at 30 dBm. The MW-DC conversion efficiency reaches 69.4% in this situation. The maximum power that the rectifier can handle is greater than 33 dBm. The measured temperature of the rectifier shows the power consumption distributed among the diode array evenly.

A UWB E-plane omnidirectional microwave antenna is designed and fabricated for IEEE 802.11a communication system and microwave magnetron source system as a radiation monitor. A cooptimization method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and FDTD software is presented. The presented PSO algorithm is useful in many industrial microwave applications, such as microwave magnetron design and other techniques with a high power level. The maximum measured relative bandwidth of 65% is achieved for the proposed antenna after a rapid and efficient optimization. Furthermore, the measured antenna polarization purity reaches about 20 dB at the communication C band. The PSO algorithm is a powerful candidate for microwave passive component design.

In rodents, a conditioned place preference (CPP) can be induced by morphine. In the current study, we designed a biased place conditioning paradigm to test the rewarding effects of morphine in freely moving rhesus monkeys. Five monkeys were first placed in three serial rooms with the doors open between them for three days. After this habituation period, during which baseline preference for each of the two end rooms was measured, CPP conditioning occurred when the monkeys were injected intramuscularly with morphine at an increasing dose (1.5, 3, 4.5 mg/kg) before they entered the non-preferred room and on alternate days, with saline before they entered the preferred room. Morphine and saline treatment lasted for six days, respectively. CPP was tested 24 hours after the end of CPP training. The result showed that in all five monkeys, CPP was induced by the morphine treatment. The preference lasted for at least 15.3 ± 1.7 months.
