Importance: Domiciliary noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is a standard treatment for improving health outcomes among patients with chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure (CHRF). However, poor adherence substantially limits its therapeutic effectiveness., Objective: To determine the effect of an information-motivation-behavioral (IMB) skills-based intervention (IMB-NIV program) on NIV adherence, patient-reported health outcomes, and health service use among patients with CHRF., Design, Setting, and Participants: This multisite, assessor-blinded, randomized clinical trial was conducted from January 2022 to March 2023 at respiratory clinics of 2 regional hospitals in Hong Kong among patients with CHRF who had been nonadherent to prescribed domiciliary NIV., Interventions: The 6-week IMB-NIV program used a hybrid approach, combining in-person and telecare sessions, to provide patients with knowledge, skills, a positive attitude, and social motivation to enhance NIV adherence., Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was NIV adherence data retrieved from the NIV machine. Secondary outcomes included the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Chinese Severe Respiratory Insufficiency questionnaire, venous bicarbonate (HCO3-) level, emergency department (ED) and hospital admissions, and mortality measured at baseline, program completion, and 3, 6, and 12 months., Results: Of the 124 participants (mean [SD] age, 73.7 [7.2] years; 67 [54.0%] female), the 62 patients in the IMB-NIV group were more likely to adhere to NIV compared with the 62 patients in the usual care group at 12 months (61.3% vs 27.4%; odds ratio, 2.78; 95% CI, 1.69 to 4.55), with a greater increase noted in daily NIV use in hours at that time (B = 2.37; 95% CI, 1.44 to 3.31). A generalized estimating equation indicated significantly greater improvements in sleep quality (B = -3.63; 95% CI, -5.14 to -2.12) and health-related quality of life (β = 14.84; 95% CI, 9.18 to 20.49) at 12 months in the IMB-NIV group. The IMB-NIV group had significantly lower ED admissions (incidence rate ratio, 0.47; 95% CI, 0.26 to 0.84) and a longer time to the first ED visit (hazard ratio, 0.51; 95% CI, 0.28 to 0.95). No significant treatment effect was observed on venous HCO3- levels or hospital admissions., Conclusions and Relevance: In this randomized clinical trial, the IMB-NIV program offered a promising behavioral approach to improve NIV adherence in patients with CHRF. Trait-based methodologies are gaining traction in the field of ecology, providing deeper insights into ecosystem structure and functions. To this end, trait databases tailored to specific taxonomic groups have become foundational. In Taiwan, the collaborative efforts of avian researchers and dedicated citizen scientists have led to the compilation of a vast array of data. This includes web-sourced images from social media, spatial distribution records from eBird, and morphological metrics from banded birds and specimens. Enriched by peer-reviewed literature, we have meticulously assembled a comprehensive trait dataset encompassing 454 bird species across 73 families. This dataset covers a wide range of traits, including foraging ecology, morphological characteristics, territorial behaviors, breeding attributes, and the roles of bird species in ecosystem regulation. As an invaluable resource, this dataset lays the foundation for in-depth exploration of functional diversity, trait-based community ecology, ecosystem function, and critical insights needed to shape conservation strategies., (© 2024. Background: The Self-Care of Heart Failure Index (SCHFI) is a widely used instrument used to measure self-care in both research and clinical settings. The lack of a psychometric evaluation of the traditional Chinese version of the SCHFI (SCHFI-C) might limit its utilization in non-Mainland Chinese populations such as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan., Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the SCHFI-C v.7.2., Methods: Participants included 365 adults with heart failure. Breslin's method of translation was used to translate the SCHFI v.7.2 into traditional Chinese. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to examine the dimensionality structure of each scale. Then, composite reliability was calculated to assess the reliability of 3 scales. Construct validity was examined by hypothesis testing and known-group comparisons., Results: The results of exploratory factor analysis suggest its multidimensionality of each scale. More specifically, the findings indicated a unique internal structure of the self-care maintenance ("lifestyle-related behaviors" and "consulting behaviors") and self-care management ("self-reliance behaviors" and "help-seeking behaviors") scales. The composite reliability of 3 scales were 0.81, 0.88, and 0.82, respectively, reaching adequate level. As for construct validity, the significant associations between the 3 SCHFI domains and self-care confidence as well as significant group difference among patients of different ages and educational backgrounds supported good construct validity., Conclusions: This study provides evidence of the reliability and validity of the SCHFI-C v.7.2. Surface modification is a highly effective strategy for addressing issues in lithium-rich layered oxide (LLO) cathodes, including phase transformation, particle cracking, oxygen gas release, and transition-metal ion dissolution. Existing single-/double-layer coating strategies face drawbacks such as poor component contact and complexity. Herein, we present the results of a low-temperature atomic layer deposition (ALD) process for creating a TiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 bilayer on composite cathodes made of AS200 (Li 1.08 Ni 0.34 Co 0.08 Mn 0.5 O 2 ). Electrochemical analysis demonstrates that TiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 -coated LLO electrodes exhibit improved discharge capacities and enhanced capacity retention compared with uncoated samples. The TAA-5/AS200 bilayer-coated electrode, in particular, demonstrates exceptional capacity retention (∼90.4%) and a specific discharge capacity of 146 mAh g -1 after 100 cycles at 1C within the voltage range of 2.2 to 4.6 V. The coated electrodes also show reduced voltage decay, lower surface film resistance, and improved interfacial charge transfer resistances, contributing to enhanced stability. The ALD-deposited TiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 bilayer coatings exhibit promising potential for advancing the electrochemical performance of lithium-rich layered oxide cathodes in lithium-ion batteries.

Background: The highly prevalent late-life loneliness, together with its deleterious health impacts, calls for increasing attention to the need for effective interventions targeting on this growing public health problem. With the increasing evidence on interventions for combating loneliness, it is timely to identify their comparative effectiveness., Objective: This systematic review, meta-analysis and network meta-analysis was to identify and compare the effects of various non-pharmacological interventions on loneliness in community-dwelling older adults., Methods: Systematic search was conducted in nine electronic databases from inception to 30th March 2023 for studies investigating the effects of non-pharmacological interventions on loneliness among community-dwelling older adults. The interventions were categorized according to the nature and purpose of use. Pairwise meta-analysis and network meta-analyses were sequentially performed to identify the effects of each category of interventions and their comparative intervention effectiveness, respectively. Meta-regression was performed to examine any influence of study design and participants' characteristics on the intervention effectiveness. The study protocol was registered at PROSPERO (CRD42022307621)., Results: A total of 60 studies with 13,295 participants were included. The interventions were categorized as psychological interventions, social support interventions (by digital and non-digital means), behavioral activation, exercise intervention with and without social engagement, multi-component intervention and health promotion. Pairwise meta-analysis identified the positive effect of psychological interventions (Hedges' g = -2.33; 95%CI [-4.40, -0.25]; Z = -2.20, p = 0.003), non-digital social support interventions (Hedges' g = -0.63; 95%CI [-1.16, -0.10]; Z = 2.33, p = 0.02) and multi-component interventions (Hedges' g = -0.28 95%CI [-0.54, -0.03]; Z = -2.15, p = 0.03) on reducing loneliness. Subgroup analysis provided additional insights: i) social support and exercise interventions which integrated active strategies to optimize the social engagement demonstrated more promising intervention effects; ii) behavioral activation and multicomponent interventions worked better for older adults who were male or reported loneliness, respectively, and iii) counseling-based psychological interventions was more effective than mind-body practice. Network meta-analysis consistently pointed to the greatest therapeutic benefits of psychological interventions, and this was followed by exercise-based interventions, non-digital social support interventions and behavioral activation. Meta-regression further suggested that the therapeutic effects of the tested interventions were independent of the various factors relating to study design and participants' characteristics., Conclusions: This review highlights the more superior effects of psychological interventions in improving loneliness among older adults. Cobalt Iron Yttrium (CoFeY) magnetic film was made using the sputtering technique in order to investigate the connection between the thickness and annealing procedures. The sample was amorphous as a result of an insufficient thermal driving force according to X-ray diffraction (XRD) examination. The maximum low-frequency alternate-current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ) values were raised in correlation with the increased thickness and annealing temperatures because the thickness effect and Y addition improved the spin exchange coupling. The best value for a 50 nm film at annealing 300 °C for χ ac was 0.20. Because electron carriers are less constrained in their conduction at thick film thickness and higher annealing temperatures, the electric resistivity and sheet resistance are lower. At a thickness of 40 nm, the film's maximum surface energy during annealing at 300 °C was 28.7 mJ/mm 2 . This study demonstrated the passage of photon signals through the film due to the thickness effect, which reduced transmittance. The best condition was found to be 50 nm with annealing at 300 °C in this investigation due to high χ ac , strong adhesion, and low resistivity, which can be used in magnetic fields.

A typical body-centered cubic (BCC) CoFe(110) peak was discovered at approximately 2θ = 44.7°. At 2θ = 46°, 46.3°, 47.7°, 55.4°, 54.6°, and 56.4°, the Yb 2 O 3 and Co 2 O 3 oxide peaks were visible in all samples. However, with a heat treatment temperature of 300 °C, there was no typical peak of CoFe(110). Electrical characteristics demonstrated that resistivity and sheet resistance reduced dramatically as film thickness and annealing temperatures increased. At various heat treatments, the maximum hardness was 10 nm. The average hardness decreased as the thickness increased, and the hardness trend decreased slightly as the annealing temperature was higher. The highest low-frequency alternative-current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ) value was discovered after being annealed at 200 °C with 50 nm, and the optimal resonance frequency (f res ) was discovered to be within the low-frequency range, indicating that the Co 40 Fe 40 Yb 20 film can be used in low-frequency applications. The maximum saturation magnetization (Ms) was annealed at 200 °C for 50 nm. Thermal disturbance caused the Ms to decrease as the temperature reached to 300 °C. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of annealing and thickness on various physical properties in Co 40 Fe 40 Yb 20 thin films. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to determine the amorphous structure of Co 40 Fe 40 Yb 20 films. The maximum surface energy of 40 nm thin films at 300 °C is 34.54 mJ/mm 2 . The transmittance and resistivity decreased significantly as annealing temperatures and thickness increased. At all conditions, the 10 nm film had the highest hardness. The average hardness decreased as thickness increased, as predicted by the Hall-Petch effect. The highest low-frequency alternative-current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ) value was discovered when the film was annealed at 200 °C with 50 nm, and the optimal resonance frequency (ƒ res ) was in the low frequency range, indicating that the film has good applicability in the low frequency range. At annealed 200 °C and 50 nm, the maximum saturation magnetization (Ms) was discovered. Thermal disturbance caused the Ms to decrease when the temperature was raised to 300 °C. The optimum process conditions determined in this study are 200 °C and 50 nm, with the highest Ms, χ ac , strong adhesion, and low resistivity, which are suitable for magnetic applications, based on magnetic properties and surface energy.

X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that metal oxide peaks appear at 2θ = 47.7°, 54.5°, and 56.3°, corresponding to Yb 2 O 3 (440), Co 2 O 3 (422), and Co 2 O 3 (511). It was found that oxide formation plays an important role in magnetic, electrical, and surface energy. For magnetic and electrical measurements, the highest alternating current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ) and the lowest resistivity (×10 -2 Ω·cm) were 0.213 and 0.42, respectively, and at 50 nm, it annealed at 300 °C due to weak oxide formation. For mechanical measurement, the highest value of hardness was 15.93 GPa at 200 °C in a 50 nm thick film. When the thickness increased from 10 to 50 nm, the hardness and Young's modulus of the Co 60 Fe 20 Yb 20 film also showed a saturation trend. After annealing at 300 °C, Co 60 Fe 20 Yb 20 films of 40 nm thickness showed the highest surface energy. Higher surface energy indicated stronger adhesion, allowing for the formation of multilayer thin films. The optimal condition was found to be 50 nm with annealing at 300 °C due to high χ ac , strong adhesion, high nano-mechanical properties, and low resistivity.

Pectin polymers are considered for lithium-ion battery electrodes. To understand the performance of pectin as an applied buffer layer, the electrical, magnetic, and optical properties of pectin films are investigated. This work describes a methodology for creating pectin films, including both pristine pectin and Fe-doped pectin, which are optically translucent, and explores their potential for lithium-ion battery application. The transmission response is found extended in optimally Fe-doped pectin, and prominent modes for cation bonding are identified. Fe doping enhances the conductivity observed in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and from the magnetic response of pectin evidence for Fe 3+ is identified. The Li-ion half-cell prepared with pectin as binder for anode materials such as graphite shows stable charge capacity over long cycle life, and with slightly higher specific capacity compare with the cell prepared using polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) as binder. A novel enhanced charging specific capacity at a high C-rate is observed in cells with pectin binder, suggesting that within a certain rate (∼5 C), pectin has higher capacity at faster charge rates. Importance: Strategies that enhance self-care of patients with heart failure reduce mortality and health care use., Objective: To examine whether an empowerment-based self-care education program was more effective and cost-effective to improve self-care, health status, and hospital service use than a didactic education program in patients with heart failure., Design, Setting, and Participants: In this double-blind randomized clinical trial, a consecutive sample of 988 patients with heart failure from the cardiac clinics of 2 regional hospitals underwent eligibility screening from February 1, 2017, to May 31, 2019, using the criteria of age of 55 years or older, heart failure diagnosed 6 months before screening, and New York Heart Association class II to IV. A total of 236 participants were randomized to the empowerment (n = 118) or education (n = 118) group., Interventions: The 12-week, group-based, empowerment-based education program included self-care assessment, goal-orientated actions in symptom recognition and response, fluid and dietary modification, and lifestyle management. Didactic education covered the same topics without empowerment strategies., Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was self-care measured by the Self-care Heart Failure Index (SCHFI) maintenance, management, and symptom perception subscales at posttest and 3-month end points. Secondary outcomes included measures of knowledge, confidence, health-related quality of life, and health service use. Direct, indirect, and social costs of the 2 programs were collected for cost-effectiveness analysis., Results: A total of 236 Chinese patients (mean [SD] age, 70 [8.0] years; 149 [63.1%] men) were included in the study. The empowerment group reported significantly greater improvement in SCHFI management scores (mean difference, 13.76; 95% CI, 5.89-21.62; Cohen d = 0.46 at posttest and Cohen d = 0.35 at 3 months) and symptom perception scores (mean difference, 20.36; 95% CI, 13.98-26.75; Cohen d = 0.84 at posttest and Cohen d = 0.61 at 3 months). The empowerment group had lower risks of emergency department attendance (incidence rate ratio, 0.55; 95% CI, 0.31-0.95; P = .03) and hospital admission (incidence rate ratio, 0.38; 95% CI, 0.21-0.68; P = .001) and better improved self-care knowledge (change in score [empowerment minus education], 1.29; 95% CI, 0.48-2.09) and confidence (change in score [empowerment minus education], 7.98; 95% CI, 1.91-14.05). Empowerment was cost-saving and cost-effective at T2 compared with the education group for quality-adjusted life-years, with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of -114 485., Conclusion and Relevance: In this randomized clinical trial, an empowerment approach led to clinically relevant improvement in symptom perception and self-care management among patients with heart failure. Among many transition-metal oxides, Fe 3 O 4 anode based lithium ion batteries (LIBs) have been well-investigated because of their high energy and high capacity. Iron is known for elemental abundance and is relatively environmentally friendly as well contains with low toxicity. However, LIBs based on Fe 3 O 4 suffer from particle aggregation during charge-discharge processes that affects the cycling performance. This study conjectures that iron agglomeration and material performance could be affected by dopant choice, and improvements are sought with Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles doped with 0.2% Ti. The electrochemical measurements show a stable specific capacity of 450 mAh g -1 at 0.1 C rate for at least 100 cycles in Ti doped Fe 3 O 4 . The stability in discharge capacity for Ti doped Fe 3 O 4 is achieved, arising from good electronic conductivity and stability in microstructure and crystal structure, which has been further confirmed by density functional theory (DFT) calculation. Detailed distribution function of relaxation times (DFRTs) analyses based on the impedance spectra reveal two different types of Li ion transport phenomena, which are closely related with the electron density difference near the two Fe-sites. Detailed analyses on EIS measurements using DFRTs for Ti doped Fe 3 O 4 indicate that improvement in interfacial charge transfer processes between electrode and Li metal along with an intermediate lithiated phase helps to enhance the electrochemical performance., (© 2022. This research explores the behavior of Co 40 Fe 40 W 10 B 10 when it is sputtered onto Si(100) substrates with a thickness (t f ) ranging from 10 nm to 100 nm, and then altered by an annealing process at temperatures of 200 °C, 250 °C, 300 °C, and 350 °C, respectively. The crystal structure and grain size of Co 40 Fe 40 W 10 B 10 films with different thicknesses and annealing temperatures are observed and estimated by an X-ray diffractometer pattern (XRD) and full-width at half maximum (FWHM). The XRD of annealing Co 40 Fe 40 W 10 B 10 films at 200 °C exhibited an amorphous status due to insufficient heating drive force. Moreover, the thicknesses and annealing temperatures of body-centered cubic (BCC) CoFe (110) peaks were detected when annealing at 250 °C with thicknesses ranging from 80 nm to 100 nm, annealing at 300 °C with thicknesses ranging from 50 nm to 100 nm, and annealing at 350 °C with thicknesses ranging from 10 nm to 100 nm. The FWHM of CoFe (110) decreased and the grain size increased when the thickness and annealing temperature increased. The CoFe (110) peak revealed magnetocrystalline anisotropy, which was related to strong low-frequency alternative-current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ) and induced an increasing trend in saturation magnetization (Ms) as the thickness and annealing temperature increased. The contact angles of all Co 40 Fe 40 W 10 B 10 films were less than 90°, indicating the hydrophilic nature of Co 40 Fe 40 W 10 B 10 films. Furthermore, the surface energy of Co 40 Fe 40 W 10 B 10 presented an increased trend as the thickness and annealing temperature increased. According to the results, the optimal conditions are a thickness of 100 nm and an annealing temperature of 350 °C, owing to high χ ac , large Ms, and strong adhesion; this indicates that annealing Co 40 Fe 40 W 10 B 10 at 350 °C and with a thickness of 100 nm exhibits good thermal stability and can become a free or pinned layer in a magnetic tunneling junction (MTJ) application.

In this paper, a Co 60 Fe 20 Y 20 film was sputtered onto Si (100) substrates with thicknesses ranging from 10 to 50 nm under four conditions to investigate the structure, magnetic properties, and surface energy. Under four conditions, the crystal structure of the CoFeY films was found to be amorphous by an X-ray diffraction analyzer (XRD), suggesting that yttrium (Y) added into CoFe films and can be refined in grain size and insufficient annealing temperatures do not induce enough thermal driving force to support grain growth. The saturation magnetization (M S ) and low-frequency alternate-current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ) increased with the increase of the thicknesses and annealing temperatures, indicating the thickness effect and Y can be refined grain size and improved ferromagnetic spin exchange coupling. The highest Ms and χ ac values of the Co 60 Fe 20 Y 20 films were 883 emu/cm 3 and 0.26 when the annealed temperature was 300 °C and the thickness was 50 nm. The optimal resonance frequency (f res ) was 50 Hz with the maximum χ ac value, indicating it could be used at a low frequency range. Moreover, the surface energy increased with the increase of the thickness and annealing temperature. The maximum surface energy of the annealed 300 °C film was 30.02 mJ/mm 2 at 50 nm. Based on the magnetic and surface energy results, the optimal thickness was 50 nm annealed at 300 °C, which has the highest Ms, χ ac , and a strong adhesion, which can be as a free or pinned layer that could be combined with the magnetic tunneling layer and applied in magnetic fields.

A facile solution process was employed to prepare CsPbI 3 as an anode material for Li-ion batteries. Rietveld refinement of the X-ray data confirms the orthorhombic phase of CsPbI 3 at room temperature. As obtained from bond valence calculations, strained bonds between Pb and I are identified within PbI 6 octahedral units. Morphological study shows that the as-prepared δ-CsPbI 3 forms a nanorod-like structure. The XPS analysis confirm the presence of Cs (3d, 4d), Pb (4d, 4f, 5d) and I (3p, 3d, 4d). The lithiation process involves both intercalation and conversion reactions, as confirmed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and first-principles calculations. Impedance spectroscopy coupled with the distribution function of relaxation times identifies charge transfer processes due to Li metal foil and anode/electrolyte interfaces. An initial discharge capacity of 151 mAhg -1 is found to continuously increase to reach a maximum of ~275 mAhg -1 at 65 cycles, while it drops to ~240 mAhg -1 at 75 cycles and then slowly decreases to 235 mAhg -1 at 100 cycles. Considering the performance and structural integrity during electrochemical performance, δ-CsPbI 3 is a promising material for future Li-ion battery (LIB) application.

In this paper, the distribution of relaxation times (DRTs) functions are calculated numerically in Matlab for synthetic impedance data from single parallel [Formula: see text] circuit and two parallel [Formula: see text] circuits connected in series, experimental impedance data from supercapacitors and α-LiFeO 2 anode based Li ion batteries. The quality of the impedance data is checked with the Kramers-Krönig (KK) relations. The DRTs are calculated within the KK compatible regime for all the systems using Tikhonov regularization (TR) method. Here we use a fast and simple L-curve method to estimate the TR parameter (λ) for regularization of the Fredholm integral equations of first kind in impedance. Estimation of the regularization parameters are performed effectively from the offset of the global corner of the L-curve rather than simply using the global corner. The physical significances of DRT peaks are also discussed by calculating the effective resistances and capacitances coupled with peak fitting program. For instance, two peaks in the DRTs justify the electrical double layer capacitance and ion diffusion phenomena for supercapacitors in low to intermediate frequencies respectively. Moreover, the surface film effect, Li/electrolyte and electrode/electrolyte charge transfer related processes are identified for α-LiFeO 2 anode based Li-ion batteries. This estimation of the offset of the global corner extends the L-curve approach coupled with the Tikhonov regularization in the field of electrochemistry and can also be applied in similar process detection methods.

Co 40 Fe 40 W 20 monolayers of different thicknesses were deposited on Si(100) substrates by DC magnetron sputtering, with Co 40 Fe 40 W 20 thicknesses from 10 to 50 nm. Co 40 Fe 40 W 20 thin films were annealed at three conditions (as-deposited, 250 °C, and 350 °C) for 1 h. The structural and magnetic properties were then examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), low-frequency alternative-current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ), and an alternating-gradient magnetometer (AGM). The XRD results showed that the CoFe (110) peak was located at 2θ = 44.6°, but the metal oxide peaks appeared at 2θ = 38.3, 47.6, 54.5, and 56.3°, corresponding to Fe 2 O 3 (320), WO 3 (002), Co 2 O 3 (422), and Co 2 O 3 (511), respectively. The saturation magnetization (Ms) was calculated from the slope of the magnetization (M) versus the CoFeW thickness. The Ms values calculated in this manner were 648, 876, 874, and 801 emu/cm 3 at the as-deposited condition and post-annealing conditions at 250, 350, and 400 °C, respectively. The maximum M S was about 874 emu/cm 3 at a thickness of 50 nm following annealing at 350 °C. It indicated that the M S and the χ ac values rose as the CoFeW thin films' thickness increased. Owing to the thermal disturbance, the M S and χ ac values of CoFeW thin films after annealing at 350 °C were comparatively higher than at other annealing temperatures. More importantly, the Co 40 Fe 40 W 20 films exhibited a good thermal stability. Therefore, replacing the magnetic layer with a CoFeW film improves thermal stability and is beneficial for electrode and strain gauge applications.

Koumine (KM), the most abundant alkaloid in Gelsemium elegans , has anti-neuropathic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic activities; thus, it has the potential to be developed as a broad-spectrum analgesic drug. However, factors determining the relationship between analgesic efficacy and the corresponding plasma KM concentration are largely unclear. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of KM and their optimization in the context of neuropathic pain have not been reported. We investigated the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of KM after oral administration in a streptozotocin-induced rat model of diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) using a population approach. A first-order absorption and elimination pharmacokinetics model best described the plasma KM concentration. This pharmacokinetic model was then linked to a linear pharmacodynamic model with an effect compartment based on the measurement of the mechanical withdrawal threshold. KM was rapidly absorbed (time to maximum plasma concentration: 0.14-0.36 h) with similar values in both DNP and naïve rats, suggesting that DNP did not influence the KM absorption rate. However, the area under the curve (AUC 0-∞ ) of KM in DNP rats was over 3-fold higher than that in naïve rats. The systemic clearance rate and volume of KM distribution were significantly lower in DNP rats than in naïve rats. Blood glucose value prior to KM treatment was a significant covariate for the systemic clearance rate of KM and baseline value of the threshold. Our results suggest that streptozotocin-induced hyperglycemia is an independent factor for decreased KM elimination and its anti-allodynic effects in a DNP rat model. The structure, magnetic properties, optical properties and adhesion efficiency of CoFeBY films were studied. Co 40 Fe 40 B 10 Y 10 alloy was sputtered onto Si (100) with a thickness of 10-50 nm, and then annealed at room temperature, 100 °C, 200 °C and 300 °C for 1 h. X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed that the CoFeBY films deposited at room temperature are amorphous. Annealing at 100 °C gave the films enough thermal energy to change the structure from amorphous to crystalline. After annealing, the CoFeBY thin film showed a body-centered cubic (BCC) CoFeB (110) characteristic peak at 44°. However, the low-frequency alternative-current magnetic susceptibility (χ ac ) and saturation magnetization (M S ) increased with the increase of thickness. CoFeBY thin films had the highest χ ac and M S after annealing at 300 °C compared to that at other temperatures. After annealing at 300 °C, the surface energy of CoFeBY film is the maximum at 50 nm. Higher surface energy indicated stronger adhesion.

Thermal management has become one of the crucial factors in designing electronic equipment and therefore creating composites with high thermal conductivity is necessary. In this work, a new insight on hybrid filler strategy is proposed to enhance the thermal conductivity in Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU). Firstly, spherical aluminium oxide/hexagonal boron nitride (ABN) functional hybrid fillers are synthesized by the spray drying process. Then, ABN/TPU thermally conductive composite material is produced by melt mixing and hot pressing. Then, ABN/TPU thermally conductive composite material is produced by melt mixing and hot pressing. Our results demonstrate that the incorporation of spherical hybrid ABN filler assists in the formation of a three-dimensional continuous heat conduction structure that enhances the thermal conductivity of the neat thermoplastic TPU matrix. Hence, we present a valuable method for preparing the thermal interface materials (TIMs) with high thermal conductivity, and this method can also be applied to large-scale manufacturing.

Cloud-assisted cyber-physical systems (CCPSs) integrate the physical space with cloud computing. To do so, sensors on the field collect real-life data and forward it to clouds for further data analysis and decision-making. Since multiple services may be accessed at the same time, sensor data should be forwarded to different cloud service providers (CSPs). In this scenario, attribute-based encryption (ABE) is an appropriate technique for securing data communication between sensors and clouds. Each cloud has its own attributes and a broker can determine which cloud is authorized to access data by the requirements set at the time of encryption. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving broker-ABE scheme for multiple CCPSs (MCCPS). The ABE separates the policy embedding job from the ABE task. To ease the computational burden of the sensors, this scheme leaves the policy embedding task to the broker, which is generally more powerful than the sensors. Moreover, the proposed scheme provides a way for CSPs to protect data privacy from outside coercion.

Background: Intranasal lidocaine has been shown to be effective in treating patients with acute migraines; however, its efficacy is still controversial. In this study, we intend to assess the efficacy and safety of intranasal lidocaine compared with a placebo or an active comparator for the treatment of migraines., Method: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library, and Scopus databases were searched from their inceptions to November 2018. Randomized controlled studies investigating the efficacy of intranasal lidocaine compared with a placebo or an active comparator were selected. Two reviewers independently extracted and synthesized data using a random-effects model. The primary outcome was pain intensity. The secondary outcomes were success rate, the need for rescue medicine, and relapse occurrences. We registered the study at PROSPERO with an ID of CRD42018116226., Results: Six studies (n = 613) were eligible for the meta-analysis. Overall, the results revealed that the study population who was administered intranasal lidocaine had a lower pain intensity at 5 min (standardized mean difference (SMD) = -0.61; 95% CI = -1.04 to -0.19) and 15 min (SMD = -0.72; 95% CI = -1.14 to -0.19), had a higher success rate (RR = 3.55; 95% CI: 1.89 to 6.64) and a less frequent need for rescue medicine (RR = 0.51; 95% CI = 0.36 to 0.72) than the control group. These beneficial effects were not observed when an antiemetic was administered. Furthermore, intranasal lidocaine use had no significant influence on the relapse rate (RR = 0.89; 95% CI = 0.51-1.56), regardless of the use of antiemetics. Using lidocaine caused local irritation in up to 49.4% of the patients in one report but did not cause major adverse events., Conclusion: Intranasal lidocaine can be considered a useful option for patients with an acute migraine. It yields a high success rate, a low pain intensity, an infrequent need for rescue medicine, and tolerable adverse events. Purpose: As an intermediate prodromal stage of dementia, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) causes functional, emotional, and social challenges for both of the person with MCI (PwMCI) and their family caregiver. However, major attention has only been placed on the PwMCI's for cognitive training. This study evaluated a more comprehensive intervention, which integrated both strength-based and empowerment approaches, to address their complex needs in a dyadic fashion., Patients and Methods: This randomized controlled trial allocated 103 MCI patient-caregiver dyads to receive a 14-week dyadic strength-based empowerment program (D-StEP-MCI, n=52) or usual care (n=51). The D-StEP-MCI program consisted of group-based session to the PwMCI, home-based dyadic sessions, and telephone follow-up, with the activities supported the care dyads to navigate their own strengths and resources for integration, together with the trained skills, to optimize role and social engagement in everyday life. Dyadic health outcomes in terms of subjective and objective cognitive function, and neuro-psychiatric symptoms of PwMCI, stress in symptom management of their family caregivers, and depression of the dyads were evaluated at baseline, after the D-StEP-MCI and at 3 months thereafter., Results: By using general estimating equation, the D-StEP-MCI significantly improved the cognitive function, subjective memory, and mood status of the PwMCI, and the positive changes were maintained at the 3-month endpoints. It also has significantly positive effects on caregivers' stress in symptom management and level of depression., Conclusion: Our findings showed the health benefit of combining strength-based and empowerment approach in supporting the disease adaptation of PwMCI and caregiver in a dyadic fashion. This study investigated the structure and magnetic properties of Co 40 Fe 40 V 20 thin films with a thicknesses ( t f ) of 10 nm to 100 nm on a glass substrate. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the CoFeV films demonstrated a significant crystalline body-centered cubic (BCC) CoFe (110) structure when the thickness was between 60 and 100 nm, and an amorphous status were shown when the thickness was from 10 to 50 nm. The strongest crystalline XRD peak was at 60 nm because it had a continuous mode of film growth and induced a large grain distribution. The low-frequency alternating current magnetic susceptibility ( ϰac ) property decreased when the frequency increased. The lowest ϰac value was detected at 60 nm owing to the large grain distribution inducing high coercivity ( H c ) and then enhancing the spin coupling strength. The external field ( H ext ) was difficult to rotate spin state, then deduces the spin sensitivity and ϰ ac value is decreased. The highest ϰ ac meant the spin sensitivity was maximized at the optimal resonance frequency. The 50-mm thickness had the highest ϰ ac 0.045 value at an f res of 100 Hz. The f res value was less than 1000 Hz at all CoFeV thicknesses, suggesting that CoFeV films would be suitable for low-frequency magnetic component applications. Moreover, the saturation magnetization ( M s ) revealed a thickness effect when the thicknesses had a larger M s . The H c values were between 3 Oe and 10 Oe at all CoFeV films, except for 60 nm. The H c of the 60 nm film was about 80 Oe due to the larger grain distribution, and it induced strong remanent magnetization ( M r ) and a larger squareness ratio ( M r /M s ) of 92%. The results of the magnetic measurement showed that the 60 nm Co 40 Fe 40 V 20 film had greater H c and a good squareness ratio.

MoO 3 /V 2 O 5 hybrid nanobilayers are successfully prepared by the sol-gel method with a spin- coating technique followed by heat -treatment at 350 °C in order to achieve a good crystallinity. The composition, morphology, and microstructure of the nanobilayers are characterized by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) that revealed the a grain size of around 20-30 nm, and belonging to the monoclinic phase. The samples show good reversibility in the cyclic voltammetry studies and exhibit an excellent response to the visible transmittance. The electrochromic (EC) window displayed an optical transmittance changes (Δ T ) of 22.65% and 31.4% at 550 and 700 nm, respectively, with the rapid response time of about 8.2 s for coloration and 6.3 s for bleaching. The advantages, such as large optical transmittance changes, rapid electrochromism control speed, and excellent cycle durability, demonstrated in the electrochromic cell proves the potential application of MoO 3 /V 2 O 5 hybrid nanobilayers in electrochromic devices.

The aim of our study is to assess the efficacy and safety of intranasal lidocaine compared with a placebo or an active comparator for the treatment of acute migraine., Methods: We will use PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library, and Scopus databases to search for articles from their inceptions to November 2018. We will only include randomized controlled studies. Data were independently will be extracted by 2 reviewers. Data analysis and synthesis will be analyzed by the Revman 5.3 software. We will conduct the study in accordance with the guideline of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Protocols., Results: This review will evaluate the efficacy and safety of intranasal lidocaine for acute migraine. The primary outcome is pain intensity measured by visual analogue, numerical rating scale, or verbal rating scale. Secondary outcomes are success rate, requirement of rescue medicine, relapse, and adverse events., Conclusion: The findings of this systematic review will summarize the latest evidence of intranasal lidocaine for acute migraine. Anaplastic lymphoma kinase ( ALK ) translocation is an actionable mutation in lung adenocarcinoma. Nonetheless tumour consists of heterogeneous cell subpopulations with diverse phenotypes and genotypes, and cancer cells can actively release extracellular vesicles (EVs) to modulate the phenotype of other cells in the tumour microenvironment. We hypothesized that EVs derived from a drug-resistant subpopulation of cells could induce drug resistance in recipient cells. We have established ALK -translocated lung adenocarcinoma cell lines and subclones. The subclones have been characterized and the expression of EV-RNAs determined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The effects of EV transfer on drug resistance were examined in vitro. Serum EV-RNA was assayed serially in two patients prescribed ALK-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (ALK-TKI) treatment. We demonstrated that the EVs from an ALK-TKI-resistant subclone could induce drug resistance in the originally sensitive subclone. EV-RNA profiling revealed that miRNAs miR-21-5p and miR-486-3p , and lncRNAs MEG3 and XIST were differentially expressed in the EVs secreted by the resistant subclones. These circulating EV-RNA levels have been found to correlate with disease progression of EML4-ALK -translocated lung adenocarcinoma in patients prescribed ALK-TKI treatment. The results from this study suggest that EVs released by a drug-resistant subpopulation can induce drug resistance in other subpopulations and may sustain intratumoural heterogeneity.

The following structures are deposited under the conditions (a) glass/Ru(X nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) and (b) glass/Ta(Y nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) at room temperature (RT), where X and Y is from 5 nm to 10 nm. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of glass/Ru(X nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) and glass/Ta(Y nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) reveal a weak crystallization at peak β-(200) as the thicknesses of Ta increase from 8 nm to 10 nm, and the patterns indicate an amorphous state as the thicknesses of all Ru films and Ta thicknesses increase from 5 nm to 7 nm. The average contact angles of glass/Ru(X nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) and glass/Ta(Y nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) are less than 90° with testing liquids deionized (DI) water and glycerol. The average contact angle of water on the surface is nearly 90 degrees, indicating it is hydrophobic. Moreover, the maximum surface energy of glass/Ru(9 nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) and glass/Ta(10 nm)/Co60Fe20V20(5 nm) are 44.5 mJ/m2 and 37.4 mJ/m2, demonstrating that the high surface energy corresponds to a strong adhesion, which can be combined with a magnetic tunneling layer of MgO or AlOx and is compatible with other semiconductor processes in magnetic recording media and photoelectric applications.

Purpose of Review: Assessment of symptom clustering is effective in enhancing care planning for symptom palliation in life-limiting disease. This review was aimed at identifying symptom cluster manifestation among advanced heart failure patients and to investigate the prognostic impact of the identified symptom clusters., Recent Findings: A systematic search of the literature identified 10 relevant articles. Two approaches were undertaken based on: correlations between symptoms and shared characteristics of patients' symptom profiles, to identify the symptom clusters. By comparing the findings for heart failure patients at an advanced disease stage and those who were not, the symptom clusters of advanced heart failure were found to have unique characteristics. In particular, the typical symptoms associated with cardiac decompensation are not clustered together. Instead, dyspnoea is clustered with emotional symptoms indicating that a distressing dyspnoeic attack may reinforce awareness of the life-limiting nature of the disease and arouse negative emotions. In addition, the debilitating heart failure-specific symptoms share the cause of the life-limiting aspects in compromising patient vitality. The strong positive association between symptom burden and cardiac event prompts the need for effective intervention to palliate not only typical but also atypical and emotional symptoms of advanced heart failure., Summary: This review provides insight on potentially effective interventions for symptom palliation in advanced heart failure.

Stress variation induced bandgap tuning and surface wettability switching of spinel nickel ferrite (NiFe 2 O 4 , NFO) films were demonstrated and directly driven by phase transition via a post-annealing process. Firstly, the as-deposited NFO films showed hydrophilic surface with water contact angle (CA) value of 80 ± 1°. After post-annealing with designed temperatures ranged from 400 to 700 °C in air ambience for 1 hour, we observed that the crystal structure was clearly improved from amorphous-like/ nanocrystalline to polycrystalline with increasing post-annealing temperature and this phenomenon is attributed to the improved crystallinity combined with relaxation of internal stress. Moreover, super-hydrophilic surface (CA = 14 ± 1°) was occurred due to the remarkable grain structure transition. The surface wettability could be adjusted from hydrophilicity to super-hydrophilicity by controlling grain morphology of NFO films. Simultaneously, the saturation magnetization (M s ) values of NFO films at room temperature increased up to 273 emu/cm 3 accompanied with transitions of the phase and grain structure. We also observed an exceptionally tunable bandgap of NFO in the range between 1.78 and 2.72 eV under phase transition driving. Meanwhile, our work demonstrates that direct grain morphology combined with the stress tuning can strongly modulate the optical, surface and magnetic characteristics in multifunctional NFO films.

The energetic particles bombardment can produce large internal stress in the zinc oxide (ZnO) thin film, and it can be used to intentionally modify the surface characteristics of ZnO films. In this article, we observed that the internal stress increased from -1.62 GPa to -0.33 GPa, and the naturally wettability of the textured ZnO nanostructured films changed from hydrophobicity to hydrophilicity. According to analysis of surface chemical states, the naturally controllable wetting behavior can be attributed to hydrocarbon adsorbates on the nanostructured film surface, which is caused by tunable internal stress. On the other hand, the interfacial water molecules near the surface of ZnO nanostructured films have been identified as hydrophobic hydrogen structure by Fourier transform infrared/attenuated total reflection. Moreover, a remarkable near-band-edge emission peak shifting also can be observed in PL spectra due to the transition of internal stress state. Furthermore, our present ZnO nanostructured films also exhibited excellent transparency over 80% with a wise surface wetting switched from hydrophobic to hydrophilic states after exposing in ultraviolet (UV) surroundings. Our work demonstrated that the internal stress of the thin film not only induced natural wettability transition of ZnO nanostructured films, but also in turn affected the surface properties such as surface chemisorption.
