This paper studies the real effects of foreign real estate capital inflows. Using transaction-level data, we document (i) a "China shock" in the U.S. housing market characterized by surging foreign Chinese housing purchases after 2008, and (ii) "home bias" in these purchases, as they concentrate in neighborhoods historically populated by ethnic Chinese. Exploiting their temporal and spatial variation, we find that these capital inflows raise local employment, with the effect transmitted through a housing net worth channel. Although research has demonstrated that parental psychological control is associated with the subjective well-being of adolescents, the lack of longitudinal studies that investigate whether or not bidirectional associations exist between the two and their potential mediating mechanisms has continued to date. In addition, previous studies have not rigorously distinguished between- and within-person effects. Thus, this study investigated longitudinal bidirectional associations between parental psychological control and the subjective well-being of adolescents. The study further examined the mediating role of emotion regulation ability. A total of 1365 Chinese adolescents (boys: 53.2 %; M age = 14.68 years, SD = 1.56) participated in a three-wave longitudinal study with annual assessments. Random intercept cross-lagged panel models were utilized to separate between- and within-person variation. After controlling for between-person variance, the results revealed that adolescents with low levels of subjective well-being reported high levels of parental psychological control after one year. Emotion regulation ability played a bidirectional mediating role in the relationship between psychological control and subjective well-being. That is, psychological control and subjective well-being mutually influenced each other through emotion regulation ability. Assessments of the key study variables were provided by adolescents. Moreover, the study considered a combination of the mothers' and fathers' use of psychological control without differentiating between paternal and maternal psychological control. Students who are bullied not only affect academic performance, but also produce a range of psychological problems. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association between school bullying and academic burnout among Chinese students, assuming school climate to play a moderating role in the aforementioned relationship. This study provides corresponding intervention strategies and reference data for the prevention and treatment of bullying in schools. The data was obtained by a cross-sectional survey of 20,730 Chinese students from 23rd May to 23rd June 2022. Multiple linear regressions and Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) were used to examine the hypotheses. This study revealed that all dimensions of school bullying and school bullying level (β = −0.09; 95 % CI, −4.946, −3.833) were associated with academic burnout. Verbal bullying (β = 0.15; 95 % CI, 1.689, 1.972) had the strongest association with academic burnout, followed by social (β = 0.14; 95 % CI, 1.496, 1.779) and physical bullying (β = 0.13; 95 % CI, 1.451, 1.734), while cyber bullying (β = 0.08; 95 % CI, 0.847, 1.127) had the weakest association with academic burnout. In addition, school climate can moderate the association between school bullying and academic burnout. Students who experienced school bullying and in bad school climate showed elevated levels of academic. This study used cross-sectional data, preventing us from drawing conclusions about causation. Comorbidity in mental disorders is prevalent among adolescents, with evidence suggesting a general psychopathology factor ("p" factor) that reflects shared mechanisms across different disorders. However, the association between the "p" factor and protective factors remains understudied. The current study aimed to explore the "p" factor, and its associations with psycho-social functioning, in Chinese adolescents. 2052 students, aged 9–17, were recruited from primary and secondary schools in Shanghai, China. Multiple rating scales were used to assess psychological symptoms and psycho-social functioning. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to verify the fit of models involving different psychopathology domains such as externalizing, internalizing, and the "p" factor. Subsequently, structural equation models were used to explore associations between the extracted factors and psycho-social functioning, including emotion regulation, mindful attention awareness, self-esteem, self-efficacy, resilience, and perceived support. The bi-factor model demonstrated a good fit, with a "p" factor accounting for 46 % of symptom variation, indicating that the psychological symptoms of Chinese adolescents could be explained by internalizing, externalizing, and the "p" factor. Psychologically, a higher "p" was positively correlated with emotion suppression and negatively correlated with mindful attention awareness, emotion reappraisal, self-esteem, and resilience. Socially, a higher "p" was associated with decreased perceived support. Only common symptoms were included as this study was conducted at school. Furthermore, the cross-sectional design limited our ability to investigate causal relationships. A "p" factor exists among Chinese adolescents. Based on previous theories and studies, fear of negative evaluation (FNE) may be a key predictor of suicidal ideation in adolescents. However, few studies examined the longitudinal relationships between FNE and suicidal ideation. This study aimed to explore the bidirectional longitudinal relationships between FNE and suicidal ideation. Meanwhile, based on the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide, this study would examine the longitudinal mediating role of interpersonal needs factors (thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness) on the relationship between FNE and suicidal ideation. A sample of 515 adolescents (M age = 12.309, SD = 0.807; 49.3 % girls) completed questionnaires on 4 waves, 6 months apart. The Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Models (RI-CLPMs) were utilized to estimate the associations among study variables. The results showed that: (1) there was a significant bidirectional longitudinal relationship between FNE and suicidal ideation; (2) thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness independently and serially mediated the relationship between FNE and suicidal ideation. This study contributed to understanding the complex relationship between FNE and suicidal ideation, emphasizing the critical roles of thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness. Many late adolescents experience a state of psychological sub-health, requiring early recognition and intervention. This study aims to assess the psychological state of late Chinese adolescents and uncover developmental trend of mental health through network analysis. We analyzed data from 9072 Chinese high school adolescents in Shandong Province surveyed in 2020–2021, and divided them into the normal, the suspected, and the abnormal groups based on Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) scores. Network analysis was employed to identify the core symptoms and bridge symptoms across different states. Anxiety and depression were the most central symptoms, without gender differences. Core symptoms, network structure, and network invulnerability varied across different psychological states. The abnormal group exhibited the highest value of natural connectivity, followed by the suspected and normal groups. This pattern extended to bridge networks. While not meeting diagnostic criteria, the suspected group demonstrated abnormalities in network edge invariance and global strength invariance. The cross-sectional design cannot establish causality, and biases in self-report measurements cannot be ignored. Alterations in the reward and cognitive control systems are commonly observed among adolescents with internet dependence (ID), and this impairment is often accompanied by social dysfunctions, such as academic burnout. However, the intercorrelations among ID, reward, cognitive control processing, and learning burnout remain unclear. We recruited 1074 Chinese adolescents to investigate the complex interrelationships among these variables using network analysis. The resulting network revealed patterns that connected ID to the behavioral inhibition/activation system (BIS/BAS), self-control, and learning burnout; these results exhibited reasonable stability and test–retest consistency. Throughout the network, the node of BAS-drive was the critical influencing factor, and the node of self-control was the protection factor. In addition, several symptoms of learning burnout and ID were positively associated with sensitivity to punishment. As revealed by the network comparison test, the network constructed among internet dependent (ID) group differed from the network constructed among internet nondependent (IND) group not only in the edges between BIS and learning burnout but also in terms of the edges associated with learning burnout. In conclusion, this study provides insights into the complex mechanisms underlying ID among adolescents from the perspective of the network relationships between core influencing factors and negative consequences. This research examined the link between persistence and cheating in 3‐ to 6‐year‐old children (2021–2022, N = 200, 100 boys; Mage = 4.85 years; all middle‐class Han Chinese). Study 1 used a challenging game to measure whether children would cheat when they were allowed to play the game unsupervised. Results indicated that children's situational, but not trait, persistence negatively correlated with cheating: the higher children's situational persistence, the less likely they cheated. Study 2 not only replicated the results of Study 1 but also discovered that children who cheated became less persistent afterward. Our research reveals a novel bidirectional relation between situational persistence and cheating and underscores the importance of nurturing persistence in early childhood as a strategy to foster honesty. Introduction: This study investigated the effects of falls on self-rated health and anxiety symptoms and the moderating role of psychological resilience in Chinese older persons with chronic multimorbidity. Methods: Data were taken from the 2018 Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS). We used a linear regression model to evaluate the associations among falls and self-rated health and anxiety symptoms, the moderating role of psychological resilience was verified by moderation analysis, and we also used a replacement model to test robustness. Finally, the results of the study were further verified via heterogeneity analysis through subgroup regression. Results: A total of 2933 people aged 60 years or older with chronic multimorbidity were included in our study. The linear regression results revealed that falls were significantly negatively correlated with the self-rated health symptoms of older Chinese people with chronic multimorbidity (β = -0.1703, p < 0.01) and significantly positively correlated with anxiety symptoms (β = 0.5590, p < 0.01). Among the moderating effects, we found that psychological resilience played a moderating role between falls and anxiety symptoms (β = − 0.151 [-0.217, -0.084], p < 0.01). Finally, we found heterogeneity in the study results by sex, residence and number of chronic diseases. Conclusion: Falls are associated with poorer self-rated health and higher anxiety levels among older persons with chronic multimorbidity in China. Background: The 15q11.2 BP1-BP2 microdeletion syndrome is associated with developmental delays, language impairments, neurobehavioral disorders, and psychiatric complications. The aim of the present study was to provide prenatal and postnatal clinical data for 16 additional fetuses diagnosed with the 15q11.2 BP1-BP2 microdeletion syndrome in the Chinese population. Methods: A total of 5,789 pregnancy women that underwent amniocentesis were enrolled in the present study. Both karyotype analysis and chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) were conducted on these subjects to detect chromosomal abnormalities and copy number variants (CNVs). Whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed to investigate sequence variants in subjects with clinical abnormalities after birth. Results: Sixteen fetuses with 15q11.2 BP1-BP2 microdeletion were identified in the present study, with a detection rate of 0.28% (16/5,789). The 15q11.2 BP1-BP2 microdeletion fragments ranged from 311.8 kb to 849.7 kb, encompassing the NIPA1, NIPA2, CYFIP1, and TUBGCP5 genes. The follow-up results regarding pregnancy outcomes showed that five cases opted for pregnancy termination, while the remaining cases continued with their pregnancies. Subsequent postnatal follow-up indicated that only one case with the 15q11.2 BP1-BP2 microdeletion displayed neurodevelopmental disorders, demonstrating an incomplete penetrance rate of 9.09% (1/11). Conclusion: The majority of fetuses with the 15q11.2 microdeletion exhibit typical features during early childhood, indicating a low penetrance and mild impact. Nonetheless, pregnancies involving fetuses with the 15q11.2 microdeletion require thorough prenatal counseling. Background: Nonrestorative sleep (NRS) is related to numerous adverse outcomes. There is rare evidence of its associated factors, especially in Chinese adolescents. This study aimed to explore the factors associated with NRS in Chinese adolescents and the potential moderation effects of coffee or tea consumption. Methods: This cross-sectional study invited adolescents attending Grades 7–11 in Nanjing, China, to complete a self-administered questionnaire, including their NRS, stress, anxiety, physical symptoms, depression, sociodemographics, and lifestyles. Linear regressions were applied to investigate the associated factors of their NRS, with the moderation effects of coffee or tea consumption and other characteristics being tested by additionally including their interactions. Results: Totally 481 adolescents (49% male, age 15.5 ± 1.5 years) were enrolled, with the average global NRS score of 42.16 ± 7.57. Higher family income (β = 2.01, P = 0.007), longer sleep duration (β = 2.33, P = 0.011), and moderate after-class activity (β = 1.50, P = 0.044) contributed less NRS, while higher educational level (β = −2.60, P = 0.033), more coffee or tea consumption (β = −1.68, P = 0.013), physical symptoms (β = −3.85, P < 0.001), stress (β = −0.23, P = 0.005), anxiety (β = −1.54, P = 0.045), and depression (β = −0.13, P = 0.014) contributed more NRS. Females (β = 0.82, P = 0.005), older age (β = −0.46, P = 0.029), and higher education level (β = −1.68, P < 0.001) contributed less refreshment from sleep, more physical/medical symptoms of NRS, and less daytime function, respectively. Coffee or tea consumption moderated the associations of somatic symptoms (β = 0.25, P = 0.021), stress (β = 0.29, P = 0.022), anxiety (β = 0.27, P = 0.005), and depression (β = 0.17, P = 0.021) with NRS. Conclusions: Longer sleep duration, moderate after-class activity, reduced coffee or tea consumption, and promotion of physical and mental health may help reduce adolescents' NRS. Background: There are few studies on the safety of sub-maximal exercise testing of aerobic exercise in apparently healthy Chinese populations. The purpose of this study was to explore the frequency of exercise electrocardiography (ECG) abnormalities and the corresponding exercise intensities, as well as the associated influencing factors, during a symptom-limited stepwise incremental cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) in an apparently healthy Chinese population. Methods: A cross-sectional study was done in four communities, one urban and one rural in the North (Beijing) and in the South (Hezhou, Guangxi) of China from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2018, respectively. Total of 1642 participants was recruited, 918 were eligible and completed demographic indicators, routine blood indicators, physical activity status, symptom-limited CPET and exercise ECG were included in the analysis. Results: Of the exercise ECG outcomes, 10 (1.1%) were positive and occurred at exercise intensities ≥ 62.50% heart rate reserve (HRR); 44 (4.8%) were equivocal and 864 (94.1%) were normal. Individuals with Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factor (CVDRF) = 3–4 were 2.6 times more likely to have a equivocal and abnormal exercise ECG than those with CVDRF = 0–2. Exercise ECGs of individuals with CVDRF = 5–7 were 5.4 times more likely to be positive and abnormal than exercise ECGs of individuals with CVDRF = 0–2. Conclusions: The exercise intensity of 62.5% HRR can be used as a safe upper limit for safe participation in exercise in apparently healthy Chinese population; the greater the number of CVDRFs, the greater the likelihood of cardiovascular risk during exercise. Background Methods Results Conclusion This study aims to examine the association of depressive trajectories with disability‐free‐survival (DFS).This prospective cohort study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, 2011–2015. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Centre for Epidemiology Studies Depression Scale‐10. Disability was assessed using activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs. Trajectories of depressive symptoms were identified and classified by latent mixture modelling. Logistic regression models were used to examine the association between depressive trajectories and DFS.A total of 8373 participants aged 45 years and older were included. We identified four distinct trajectories of depressive symptoms: ‘no depressive symptoms’, ‘decreasing depressive symptoms’, ‘increasing depressive symptoms’, and ‘persistent depressive symptoms’. Compared to participants in the no depressive symptom trajectory, those in the decreasing depressive symptoms, increasing depressive symptoms and persistent depressive symptoms trajectories had an increased risk of disability or mortality, with multiple‐adjusted hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) of 1.75 (1.45–2.12), 2.05 (1.77–2.38) and 3.50 (2.77–4.42).Our study shows that among middle‐aged and older Chinese adults, individuals with a trajectory of depressive symptoms are at increased risk of disability or mortality. ABSTRACT Objective Design, Patients and Methods Results Conclusions We conducted a prospective randomized clinical trial to compare the efficacy of low‐ and high‐dose radioiodine for remnant ablation in patients with low‐risk differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) in China. The first‐stage results showed equivalence was observed between the two groups. Here, we report recurrence and survival at 3–5 and 6–10 years and biochemical parameters.Between January 2013 and December 2014, adult patients with DTC were enroled. Patients had undergone total or near‐total thyroidectomy, with or without cervical lymph node dissection, with tumour stages T1–T3 with or without lymph node metastasis, but without distant metastasis. Patients were randomly assigned to the low‐dose (1850 MBq) or high‐dose (3700 MBq) radioiodine group. They were then followed up for 3–5 and 6–10 years. Data on biochemical abnormalities, recurrence and survival were analysed using Kolmogorov–Smirnov and χ2 tests.The data of 228 patients (mean age = 42 years; 70.6% women) were analysed, with 117 patients in the low‐dose group and 111 in the high‐dose group. There were no significant differences in biochemical abnormalities, recurrence, or survival rates at the 6–10‐year follow‐up (all p > .05). Nine patients experienced recurrence in the low‐dose group (8.7%), while eight patients experienced recurrence in the high‐dose group (8.2%). The survival rates were 100% and 98.2% in the low‐ and high‐dose groups, respectively.The long‐term effectiveness and safety of low‐dose (1850 MBq) radioiodine are the same as those of high‐dose (3700 MBq) radioiodine for thyroid remnant ablation in Chinese patients with low‐risk DTC. Although prostate cancer is a common occurrence among males, the relationship between existing risk prediction models remains unclear. The objective of this hospital-based retrospective study is to investigate the impact of polygenic risk scores (PRSs) on the incidence and prognosis of prostate cancer in the Han Chinese population. A total of 24,778 male participants including 903 patients with prostate cancer at Taichung Veterans General Hospital were enrolled in the study. PRS was calculated using 269 single nucleotide polymorphisms and their corresponding effect sizes from the polygenic score catalog. The association between PRS and the risk prostate cancer was evaluated using Cox proportional hazards regression model. Among the 24,778 participants, 903 were diagnosed with prostate cancer. The risk of prostate cancer was significantly higher in the highest quartile of PRS distribution compared to the lowest (hazard ratio = 4.770, 95% CI = 3.999–5.689, p < 0.0001), with statistical significance across all age groups. Patients in the highest quartile were diagnosed with prostate cancer at a younger age (66.8 ± 8.3 vs. 69.5 ± 8.8, p = 0.002). Subgroup analysis of patients with localized or stage 4 prostate cancer showed no significant differences in biochemical failure or overall survival. This hospital-based cohort study observed that a higher PRS was associated with increased susceptibility to prostate cancer and younger age of diagnosis. However, PRS was not found to be a significant predictor of disease stage and prognosis. These findings suggest that PRS could serve as a useful tool in prostate cancer risk assessment. Carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT), a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis, has been found to be associated with incident stroke. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP) and fibrinogen have been demonstrated to be associated with atherosclerosis. Previous studies on heritability estimates of IMT, CRP, and fibrinogen among Chinese populations are limited. This study aims to estimate the heritability of these risk factors in residents who participated in the Taichung Community Health Study (TCHS) and their family members. A total of 2671 study subjects from 805 families were enrolled in the study, selected from a random sample of TCHS participants and their family members. CRP, and fibrinogen were obtained from each participant, and a questionnaire interview was conducted. cIMT was measured by high-resolution B-mode ultrasound and expressed as the mean of the maximum. Heritability estimates and the familial correlation of cIMT, CRP, and fibrinogen among family pairs were determined with SAGE software. With multivariate adjustments, significant heritability was found for cIMT (h2 = 0.26, P < 0.001), CRP (h2 = 0.34, P < 0.001), and fibrinogen (h2 = 0.48, P < 0.001). The intrafamilial correlation coefficients for the three indexes in the parent–offspring pairs were significant (P < 0.001) and ranged from 0.17 to 0.41. The full sibship correlations were also significant (P < 0.001) for the three indexes and ranged from 0.19 to 0.47. This study indicates that a moderate proportion of the variability in CRP, fibrinogen, and cIMT can be attributed to genetic factors in Chinese populations. To establish a population pharmacokinetic (PopPK) model of posaconazole suspension in Chinese hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) patients and to recommend an optimal dosing regimen. A single-center, retrospective, model-based study was conducted in 62 Chinese patients, including 103 with posaconazole plasma concentrations. PopPK analysis using NONMEM software. A one-compartment model of first-order elimination and absorption was in good agreement with the experimental data. Analysis of covariance showed that body weight (WT), creatinine clearance (CCR), and proton pump inhibitor (PPI) had a significant effect on the pharmacokinetics of posaconazole. The dose simulation results show that patients with CCR ≥ 90 mL/min require at least 3 mg/kg TID and 7 mg/kg BID dosing regimens for prevention and treatment, respectively. However, when combined with PPI, at least 5 mg/kg BID and 5 mg/kg TID dosing regimens are required for prevention and treatment, respectively. Regardless of whether it is used in combination with PPI or not, patients with a CCR of 60–90 mL/min can achieve PTA goals by using a 4 mg/kg BID and 4 mg/kg TID regimen for prevention and treatment, respectively. A dosing regimen of 3 mg/kg BID in patients with a CCR of 30–60 mL/min is sufficient to meet the PTA goal of prophylaxis, and the dose needs to be elevated to 4 mg/kg BID for the treatment of fungal infections, and there is no need to change the dose according to the coadministration of PPI. When the patient's CCR is less than 30 mL/min, whether or not combined with PPI, the administration regimen of 2 mg/kg BID and 3 mg/kg BID can meet the PTA goals for prevention and treatment, respectively. Real-world evidence is increasingly used to support clinical and regulatory decisions globally and may be a useful tool to study the unique needs of cochlear implant users in China. The ability to recognize and understand speech in noise is critical for cochlear implant users, however, this remains a challenge in everyday settings with fluctuating competing noise levels. The Cochlear™ Sound Processor, Nucleus® 7 (CP1000), includes Forward Focus, a spatial noise algorithm aimed to improve speech-in-noise performance, and Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad functionality. We conducted a prospective, single-center, open-label, within-participant, real-world evidence investigation in participants with cochlear implants. The primary objective of this study, conducted in China, was to compare speech perception in spatially separated dynamic noise with the Nucleus 7 to the recipients' current older Cochlear Sound Processor, including the Freedom and Nucleus 5 sound processors. A follow-up study monitored participants from the initial study up to 12-months post the fitting of their Nucleus 7 and investigated hearing ability, satisfaction, and usability of the device via a questionnaire. Forty participants were included in the initial study (age-range 3 to 49 years) and 29 continued to the follow-up study (age-range 5 to 28 years). The participants were heterogeneous in terms of age, cochlear implant experience, and duration of hearing loss. Nucleus 7 significantly improved participant speech recognition performance in noise by 7.54 dB when compared with the participants' current older sound processor (p<0.0001). Overall satisfaction with Nucleus 7 was 72%. Satisfaction in different hearing contexts ranged from 93.1% for understanding a 1:1 conversation in a quiet setting, 62.1% for understanding on the phone, to 34.5% hearing in complex noisy situations. The study demonstrated the benefits of the Nucleus 7 sound processor across different hearing environments in a Chinese population and showed improved hearing ability, usability, and satisfaction in a real-world every-day environment. We report the case of a 54-year-old healthy Han Chinese male presenting with fever, pallor, erythematous subcutaneous nodules on the limbs, and significant anemia as indicated by routine blood tests, with no response to antimicrobial therapy. Initial skin biopsy was inconclusive. The erythematous subcutaneous nodules on the limbs rapidly progressed to widespread subcutaneous nodules across the body, with worsening anemia. Bone marrow biopsy revealed multifocal fibroblastic proliferation with focal fibrosis, classified as MF-2, and positive for the JAK2V617F mutation alongside SRSF2 positivity. Whole-body PET-CT scans did not reveal any lymph nodes or suspect lesions with high SUV uptake. A subsequent skin biopsy identified the condition as nodular panniculitis (NP), leading to a final diagnosis of primary myelofibrosis(PMF)with NP. The patient initially received treatment with oral ruxolitinib and prednisone acetate, resulting in normalization of body temperature, resolution of erythematous nodules, and normalization of blood parameters. Object: Vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysms (VBDAs) are known to have a poor natural history with high rates of re-bleeding and mortality. There is a strong relation between hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) and cerebrovascular disease; we perform a retrospective study within the male of Chinese Han population to explore the association between HHcy and VBDAs. Methods: Eighty-eight male patients with VBDA and Eighty-one male control subjects were evaluated for their serum total homocysteine levels. With multiple logistic regression analysis, the association between HHcy and the risk of VBDAs was estimated. Interaction and stratified analyses were conducted according to age, BMI, smoking status, drinking status, and chronic disease histories. The two-piecewise linear regression model examined the threshold effect. Results: The multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed a significant association between HHcy and VBDAs (odds ratio (OR) = 2.62; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.02–6.71) after adjusting for classical vascular risk factors. The relationship was stable in all subgroup analysis. The interactive role was not found in the association between HHcy and VBDAs for the potential risk factor. Conclusions: In summary, our study provides evidence that HHcy can increases the risk of VBDAs in the male Han Chinese population. Previous studies have suggested that bullying may be contagious in adolescents. The present study examined whether ego depletion mediated the association between peer bullying and participant bullying and whether the mediating process was moderated by participant trait self‐control. A sample of 2217 Chinese high school students (16.92 ± 0.94 years; 1068 boys and 1084 girls) were invited to fill in the questionnaires. The results reveal that after controlling for gender, grade and neuroticism, ego depletion partially mediates the positive relationship between peer bullying and participant bullying. Further, participant trait self‐control moderates the relationship between peer bullying and participant bullying and that between peer bullying and participant ego depletion. That is, the strength of the contagion effect is lower in adolescents with high trait self‐control compared to those with low trait self‐control. In conclusion, this study provides empirical evidence of the contagion of bullying in adolescents. Limitations and implications for research and practice are discussed. Glycogen storage diseases (GSDs) are abnormally inherited glycogen metabolism mainly affecting the liver, muscles, and heart. Deficiency of proteins involved in glycogen metabolism caused by genetic mutations are responsible for different subtype of GSDs. However, there are still some challenges in diagnosing GSD. This study includes 39 suspected GSDs patients from unrelated families in China. Next‐generation sequencing (NGS) was used to investigate the reason for their diseases at the genetic level. Finally, all 39 patients were diagnosed with GSDs, including 20 GSD‐Ia, 4 GSD‐VI, and 15 GSD IX (12 GSD‐IXa patients and 3 GSD‐IXb patients). Thirty‐two mutations in G6PC1, PYGL, PHKA2, and PHKB genes were identified, with 14 of them being novel variants. The pathogenicity of novel variants was classified according to ACMG guildlines and predicted by in slico algorithms. Mutations p.L216L and p.R83H in G6PC1 gene may be the hot spot mutation in Chinese. Hearing impairment is a rare clinical feature of GSD Ia, which has also been observed in our cohort. The severity of GSD VI and IX was indicated by our patients. Close follow‐up should be applied to GSD VI and IX patients. Most ethnic Chinese living and working in Britain in the late 1960s were from Hong Kong's New Territories. Many of these British migrants blamed the Hong Kong government for importing cheap foodstuffs and driving farmers off the land to build new infrastructural projects. In 1967, Hong Kong experienced a wave of social and political unrest commonly referred to as the 1967 Leftist Riots. The unrest spread to parts of Britain's Chinatown, where a leftist movement emerged in sympathy with the anti-colonial rioters. In response, the Heung Yee Kuk, a legal advisory organisation that represented established interests in the New Territories, proposed to send a 'goodwill tour' to Britain's Chinatowns to demonstrate that the Hong Kong government was committed to their welfare. In particular, both parties understood the economic necessity of quieting the unrest to ensure the continued flow of remittance back to the colony. Although overparenting is a growing phenomenon across the globe, there is a severe lack of longitudinal studies examining the trajectory of overparenting and its effects on early adolescent development, particularly in non‐Western contexts. The study collected three waves of longitudinal data from 1328 early Chinese adolescents in Hong Kong with an interval of 1 year to examine the stability and change of perceived paternal and maternal overparenting and their effects on adolescent psychological wellbeing. The results indicated that perceived paternal and maternal overparenting declined over time. Besides, adolescents reported lower anxiety and depressive symptoms when they perceived a steep decline in maternal overparenting. Adolescent anxiety at earlier time points also predicted a steeper decline in paternal and maternal overparenting trajectories respectively. Furthermore, we identified gender differences in the initial level of paternal overparenting and the trajectory of maternal overparenting, as well as the effects of rates of change of maternal overparenting on adolescent anxiety and depressive symptoms. The findings give support for self‐determination theory and the separation‐individuation model, suggesting that changes of overparenting may hinder adolescents' desires for autonomy and self‐direction, which may increase their psychological morbidity. This study evaluated the psychometric soundness of the Claremont Purpose Scale among Chinese adolescents. An initial prestudy (n = 34) was conducted to ensure linguistic equivalence. Subsequently, Study 1 (n = 1691) assessed the scale's reliability and factor structure, also investigating its functional equivalence across gender, adolescence stages, and language versions at the item level. Aim: To investigate the associations of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and the weight‐adjusted waist index (WWI) with the impairment of activities of daily living (ADL) in older Chinese people. Methods: A total of 13 260 participants aged 65 years and older from the 2018 Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey were included in this cross‐sectional study. BMI, WC and the WWI were calculated from measurements of height, weight and WC. Binary logistic regression was used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). Non‐linear correlations were investigated using restricted cubic spline curves. Results: In multivariate logistic regression fully adjusted for confounding variables, our analyses revealed significant associations between WC and WWI and ADL impairment, with adjusted ORs (95% CI) of 1.01 (1.00, 1.01) and 1.08 (1.03, 1.12), respectively. Meanwhile, participants with a high WWI had a higher risk of ADL impairment compared with those with a low WWI, with an adjusted OR (95% CI) of 1.12 (1.02, 1.23). Subgroup analyses showed that only the association between WWI and ADL impairment did not differ in any of the different populations. In addition, we found that BMI, WC and WWI were non‐linearly associated with ADL impairment. Conclusions: There are significant associations between WC and WWI and ADL impairment in older Chinese people. The findings show the ability of the WWI to serve as a comprehensive and effective indicator of obesity in older Chinese people and emphasize the importance of assessing WWI in screening and preventing ADL impairment in older people. Aim: To develop 10‐year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk prediction models in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) managed in primary care using machine learning (ML) methods. Methods: In this 10‐year population‐based retrospective cohort study, 141 516 Chinese T2DM patients aged 18 years or above, without history of CVD or end‐stage renal disease and managed in public primary care clinics in 2008, were included and followed up until December 2017. Two‐thirds of the patients were randomly selected to develop sex‐specific CVD risk prediction models. The remaining one‐third of patients were used as the validation sample to evaluate the discrimination and calibration of the models. ML‐based methods were applied to missing data imputation, predictor selection, risk prediction modelling, model interpretation, and model evaluation. Cox regression was used to develop the statistical models in parallel for comparison. Results: During a median follow‐up of 9.75 years, 32 445 patients (22.9%) developed CVD. Age, T2DM duration, urine albumin‐to‐creatinine ratio (ACR), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), systolic blood pressure variability and glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) variability were the most important predictors. ML models also identified nonlinear effects of several predictors, particularly the U‐shaped effects of eGFR and body mass index. The ML models showed a Harrell's C statistic of >0.80 and good calibration. The ML models performed significantly better than the Cox regression models in CVD risk prediction and achieved better risk stratification for individual patients. Conclusion: Using routinely available predictors and ML‐based algorithms, this study established 10‐year CVD risk prediction models for Chinese T2DM patients in primary care. The findings highlight the importance of renal function indicators, and variability in both blood pressure and HbA1c as CVD predictors, which deserve more clinical attention. The derived risk prediction tools have the potential to support clinical decision making and encourage patients towards self‐care, subject to further research confirming the models' feasibility, acceptability and applicability at the point of care. Aim: To evaluate insulin and glucagon sensitivity in Han Chinese women with and without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods: In total, 81 women with GDM and 81 age‐matched healthy controls were evaluated with a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at gestational weeks 24‐28. Plasma glucose concentrations were measured at fasting and 1 h and 2 h post‐OGTT. Fasting plasma insulin, glucagon and amino acids were also measured. Insulin and glucagon sensitivity were assessed by the homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA‐IR) and glucagon‐alanine index, respectively. Results: As expected, plasma glucose concentrations were higher at fasting and 1 h and 2 h post‐OGTT in GDM participants (p <.001 each). Both the HOMA‐IR and the glucagon‐alanine index were higher in GDM participants. There was a weak positive correlation between HOMA‐IR and glucagon‐alanine index (r = 0.24, p =.0024). Combining the HOMA‐IR and the glucagon‐alanine index yielded better capacity (area under the curve = 0.878) than either alone (area under the curve = 0.828 for HOMA‐IR and 0.751 for glucagon‐alanine index, respectively) in differentiating GDM from healthy participants. While the majority of GDM participants (64%) exhibited both reduced insulin and glucagon sensitivity, a third of them presented either reduced insulin (20%) or glucagon (14%) sensitivity alone. HOMA‐IR and glucagon‐alanine index correlated differentially with fasting glucose, triglycerides, low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol, sum of amino acids and hepatic steatosis index. Conclusions: Impairments of both insulin and glucagon sensitivity occur frequently in Chinese women with GDM, which may, individually or together, drive metabolic derangements in GDM. Aim: To compare the efficacy and safety of a fixed‐ratio combination of insulin glargine 100 U/mL plus lixisenatide (iGlarLixi) with premixed insulin, insulin degludec plus insulin aspart (IDegAsp), in Chinese people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) suboptimally controlled with oral antidiabetic drug(s) (OADs). Methods: In Soli‐D, a 24‐week, multicentre, open‐label, study, insulin‐naïve adults were randomized 1:1 to once‐daily injections of iGlarLixi (n = 291) or IDegAsp (n = 291), with continued metformin ± sodium‐glucose co‐transporter‐2 inhibitors. The primary endpoint was non‐inferiority in HbA1c change from baseline to week 24. Key secondary endpoints included superiority in HbA1c change and body weight (BW) change at week 24. Hypoglycaemia rates were also assessed. Results: At week 24, iGlarLixi showed non‐inferiority and superiority over IDegAsp in HbA1c reduction (least squares [LS] mean difference: −0.20 [95% confidence interval {CI}: –0.33, −0.07]; P <.001 for non‐inferiority; [97.5% CI: –0.35, −0.05]; P =.003 for superiority). iGlarLixi decreased BW and IDegAsp increased BW from baseline to week 24, with a statistically significant LS mean difference of −1.49 kg in favour of iGlarLixi (97.5% CI: –2.32, −0.66; P <.001). Event rates (per person‐year) for American Diabetes Association (ADA) Level 1, 2 or 3 hypoglycaemia were lower for iGlarLixi (1.90) versus IDegAsp (2.72) (relative risk: 0.71; 95% CI: 0.52, 0.98). No ADA Level 3 hypoglycaemia or unexpected safety findings were reported. Conclusions: In Chinese people with T2D suboptimally controlled with OADs, once‐daily iGlarLixi provided better glycaemic control with BW benefit and lower hypoglycaemia event rates versus IDegAsp. This study examines the usage of the English politeness marker please on a Chinese microblogging platform, focusing on its functional adaptation and the motivations for its borrowing. The findings reveal that please , as a pragmatically borrowed item (i.e., a pragmatic borrowing), differs from both its English etymon and Chinese equivalents. While it retains the preference for clause-final positions and the politeness-enhancing function of its English etymon, it has become predominantly used with imperatives on the public social media platform, often accompanied by features that indicate a strengthened requesting force. Additionally, please has acquired a new function of marking in-group identity and positive politeness among Chinese youth on social media, a function absent in the native equivalents. This study suggests that the unique function of please motivates its adoption by Chinese young people who seek to balance closeness and politeness in peer communication. Background & objective: Sex estimation is a critical aspect of forensic expertise. Some special anatomical structures, such as the maxillary sinus, can still maintain integrity in harsh environmental conditions and may be served as a basis for sex estimation. Due to the complex nature of sex estimation, several studies have been conducted using different machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy of sex prediction from anatomical measurements. Material & methods: In this study, linear data of the maxillary sinus in the population of northwest China by using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) were collected and utilized to develop logistic, K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and random forest (RF) models for sex estimation with R 4.3.1. CBCT images from 477 samples of Han population (75 males and 81 females, aged 5–17 years; 162 males and 159 females, aged 18–72) were used to establish and verify the model. Length (MSL), width (MSW), height (MSH) of both the left and right maxillary sinuses and distance of lateral wall between two maxillary sinuses (distance) were measured. 80% of the data were randomly picked as the training set and others were testing set. Besides, these samples were grouped by age bracket and fitted models as an attempt. Results: Overall, the accuracy of the sex estimation for individuals over 18 years old on the testing set was 77.78%, with a slightly higher accuracy rate for males at 78.12% compared to females at 77.42%. However, accuracy of sex estimation for individuals under 18 was challenging. In comparison to logistic, KNN and SVM, RF exhibited higher accuracy rates. Moreover, incorporating age as a variable improved the accuracy of sex estimation, particularly in the 18–27 age group, where the accuracy rate increased to 88.46%. Meanwhile, all variables showed a linear correlation with age. Conclusion: The linear measurements of the maxillary sinus could be a valuable tool for sex estimation in individuals aged 18 and over. A robust RF model has been developed for sex estimation within the Han population residing in the northwestern region of China. Objectives: Previous research suggests potential moderating roles of dispositional mindfulness and body image flexibility in the association between body dissatisfaction and disordered eating. However, relevant research is mainly conducted on adult women from Western countries, and limited evidence exists for adolescent samples, especially from non‐Western contexts (e.g., China). Thus, this study aimed to examine the moderating roles of dispositional mindfulness and body image flexibility in the relationship between body dissatisfaction and disordered eating in Chinese adolescents. Method: We recruited 545 Chinese adolescents (53.9% boys, aged 12–16 years) who completed measures of body dissatisfaction, dispositional mindfulness, body image flexibility, and disordered eating. Moderation analyses were examined with PROCESS macro on SPSS. Results: In separate models, both higher dispositional mindfulness and body image flexibility weakened relationships between body dissatisfaction and disordered eating. However, when both dispositional mindfulness and body image flexibility were entered into the same moderation model, only body image flexibility showed a significant moderating effect. Discussion: Both dispositional mindfulness and body image flexibility may weaken the association between body dissatisfaction and disordered eating in adolescents. However, body image flexibility might have a stronger effect than dispositional mindfulness. These findings suggest that interventions aimed at reducing body dissatisfaction to prevent disordered eating in adolescents may pay more attention to adolescents' body image flexibility. There is increasing evidence that sex differences exist in many clinical manifestations of patients with schizophrenia, including suicidal ideation (SI) and neurocognitive function. The present study was performed to explore the sex differences in the association between SI and neurocognitive function in Chinese patients with schizophrenia. A total of 1188 inpatients with schizophrenia were recruited from multicenter psychiatric hospitals. The Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS) was utilized to evaluate the neurocognitive function of all patients. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) was utilized to assess the psychopathology of patients. The Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation (BSSI) was used to assess the severity of SI. In male patients, the suicide risk score was significantly associated with PANSS negative symptoms (r = 0.167, p = 0.043), visuospatial subscale (r = − 0.261, p = 0.001), and RBANS total scores (r = − 0.172, p = 0.037). Furthermore, multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the visuospatial subscale (β = − 0.490, t = − 3.273, p = 0.001) was independently associated with the suicide risk score in male patients. In female patients, the suicide risk score was significantly correlated with PANSS positive symptoms (r = 0.249, p = 0.021), negative symptoms (r = 0.394, p < 0.001), general psychopathology (r = 0.276, p = 0.01) and PANSS total score (r = 0.365, p = 0.001). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that PANSS negative symptoms (β = 1.849, t = 3.933, p = 0.001) were significantly associated with suicide risk scores in female patients. Our findings indicate that there are sex differences in the association between SI and neurocognitive function in patients with schizophrenia. Gaming disorder and depression of Chinese adolescents have aroused widespread concern. Although there is a close relationship between gaming disorder and depression among ordinary adolescents, few studies have examined this relationship among Chinese left-behind adolescents (adolescents left in rural areas while parents work in urban areas for at least six months annually) from the perspective of environment-individual interactions. This study aimed to analyze whether family, school, and personality factors could interact in predicting left-behind adolescents' gaming disorder and depression. A cross-sectional questionnaire study was conducted between June and December 2020 in four high schools in Central China. A total of 618 left-behind adolescents between 11 and 15 years of age completed the anonymous survey. The results found that gaming disorder acted as a mediator linking parental neglect to depression. Teacher-student relationships and trait self-control uniquely weakened the predictive effect of parental neglect on gaming disorder and the mediating effect of gaming disorder between parental neglect and depression. The three-way interaction of parental neglect, teacher-student relationships, and trait selfcontrol also showed a significant effect on left-behind adolescents' depression through gaming disorder. The protective role of teacher-student relationships on the mediation of gaming disorder was stronger for left-behind adolescents with lower trait selfcontrol, and the protective role of trait self-control on the mediation of gaming disorder was stronger for left-behind adolescents with lower teacher-student relationships. The results promote a better understanding of how family, school, and personality interact to predict left-behind adolescents' gaming disorder and depression. Dating applications, such as Momo, have become trendy among the young population in China. While there have been some studies on online dating applications, limited research has explored the association between these applications and adolescents' mental health, and how they are related. This study investigates the motivations behind Chinese youth using online dating applications, the relationship between motivations and compulsive use, and their associations with subjective online success and mental health. Specifically, this study surveyed from February 2022 to March 2022, involving 451 young Chinese adults aged 18 to 35 (mean age = 25.17 years, SD = 4.25, and the biological sex distribution was 49.45% male and 50.55% female). The results indicate that motivations, including social approval, relationship seeking, sexual experiences, and socializing, were associated with adolescents' compulsive use of online dating apps. The compulsive use of online dating apps was associated with higher reports of feelings such as joviality, sadness, and anxiety. Furthermore, the association between compulsive use and young adults' mental health appeared to be mediated by subjective online success. This article examines the role of Chinese temples, known as kelenteng, in the Hokkien community in Batavia during Dutch colonial times. The kelenteng served as important social and cultural institutions, facilitating the integration of the Chinese community into the host society. They played various roles, including political authority, funeral services, commercial promotion, family dominance, guild competition, and Islamic accommodation. The rituals conducted at the kelenteng contributed to community cohesion and acculturation. Previous research has shown that there are distinct types of children's shyness within eastern and western cultures, with different origins, developmental courses, and outcomes. However, the measures used to examine children's shyness in eastern contexts have been developed almost exclusively in the North American context. Whether shyness subtypes and their predictive associations are conserved between western and eastern cultures on a children's shyness measure developed in an eastern context is an empirical question. Here we examined (a) whether two subtypes from the Chinese Shyness Scale (i.e., anxious and regulated) were identified in a western context, and (b) whether cultural context moderated the relation between the two subtypes of shy behavior and a widely used western characterized social anxiety measure. The participants were children aged 3–5 years from China (Mage = 4.46 years, SD = 0.64, n = 182, 53.8% boys) and Canada (Mage = 3.99 years, SD = 0.82, n = 201, 42.3% boys). The results indicated that the two shyness subtypes and the one‐factor social anxiety construct were identified in both cultures. Subsequently, latent moderation structural equation modelling revealed that anxious shyness was significantly and positively related to social anxiety in children from both countries, but more strongly in Canada. Conversely, regulated shyness was significantly and positively related to social anxiety in Canadian children, but not in Chinese children. Findings are discussed regarding possible cultural explanations for why the relations between two Chinese shyness subtypes and social anxiety are different in Chinese and Canadian contexts and their implications to understanding cross‐cultural differences in developmental shyness. Is there a Chinese School of International Relations (IR) Theory? My answer to this question is ambivalent. Although a Chinese school of IR theory does not exist in the singular, it does exist in the plural. If "birds of a feather flock together," then the difference in approaches taken by Chinese scholars is as relevant as is the fact that the scholars are all Chinese. The Tsinghua School and moral realism share much with classical realism. Cultural relationalism also offers a distinctive Chinese approach as do Gongsheng /symbiotic and tianxia approaches. That said, Chinese IR scholarship shares with IR scholarship in America, Europe, and the rest of the world its firm anchor in the Newtonian mechanical worldview of the late 19th century. Natural sciences, such as quantum mechanics and scientific cosmology, meanwhile concluded long ago that Newtonianism offers an often practicable yet constricted view of the world. In contrast, the humanities operate with a worldview fully consonant with 20th century physics. It is the social sciences and the analysis of IR which continues to adhere to the mechanical worldview common in the late 19th century—in China and the rest of the world. In both "China" and "the West" IR, scholars are tapping their canes against the pavement, seeking to fathom what will happen next. Depression is common at older ages, but is under-recognized due to stigma, misperception, and under-diagnosis; its manifestations may vary by setting. Identifying older adults at risk of depression in the community is urgently needed for timely support and early interventions. We assessed the performance of an existing risk prediction model developed in a European setting (i.e., Depression Risk Assessment Tool (DRAT-up)), and developed a new model (i.e., EHS-Depress model) to predict 2-year risk of the onset of later life depressive symptoms in older Chinese adults. Among 185,538 participants aged ≥65 years from Hong Kong's Elderly Health Service (EHS) cohort, 174,806 without depressive symptoms at baseline were included. Two-thirds were randomly sampled for recalibration and new model development using Cox proportional-hazards models with backward elimination. Overall predictive performance, discrimination, and calibration were assessed using the remaining. The original DRAT-up model underestimated the risk of developing depressive symptoms in older Chinese adults; recalibrating it improved calibration. The new EHS-Depress model had better discrimination (Harrell's C statistic 0.68 and D statistic 2.74) and similarly good calibration (calibration slope 1.18 and intercept −0.002) probably due to the inclusion of more specific health measures, socio-demographics, lifestyle factors, and regular social contact as predictors. Predictors of depressive symptoms included in our models depend on the data availability. The EHS-Depress model predicted 2-year risk of developing depressive symptoms better than the original and recalibrated DRAT-up models. Objective: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a 12‐month early postnatal lifestyle intervention program in women with gestational diabetes in a recent pregnancy. Methods: This study was a prospective randomized intervention study conducted at a diabetes center in Hong Kong. Chinese women aged 18–45 years, who developed gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in their most recent pregnancy, were invited. Eligible women were randomized in 1:1 ratio at baseline (6–12 weeks postpartum), to standard care or lifestyle intervention (diet and physical activity) groups for 12 months. A standardized biochemistry assessment including oral glucose tolerance test, blood lipids, complete blood count, renal and liver functions, were measured at baseline and at 12‐month. Anthropometry assessment and lifestyle questionnaire were performed at various timepoints. Results: A total of 103 women were randomized at baseline and a total of 79 women (standard care, n = 39, intervention, n = 40) completed the assessment. After the 12‐month study period, women in the intervention group had significantly lower energy intake (intervention, −497.6 ± 488.3 kcal; standard, −222.0 ± 390.0 kcal, P < 0.01) compared to the standard care group, and a trend towards greater weight reduction (intervention, −0.93 ± 4.68 kg; standard, −0.01 ± 3.12 kg, P = 0.36). Conclusion: The lifestyle intervention implemented within 3 months postpartum appeared to promote postpartum weight loss. The early postnatal lifestyle intervention program may provide an opportunity to reduce the long‐term risk of diabetes in this high‐risk population. The present study aimed to investigate the real-world results of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (cALL) cases in Fujian, China. The clinical data of 1414 patients with newly diagnosed cALL in Fujian were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were treated according to the Chinese Children Leukemia Group 2008 protocol (CCLG-ALL 2008 group) or Chinese Children's Cancer Group 2015 protocol (CCCG-ALL 2015 group). Cumulative incidence of treatment abandonment (TA) at 5 years was 4.2% ± 0.6% and significantly associated with treatment period and risk stratification. The 5-OS and EFS were significantly higher in the CCCG-ALL 2015 group than in the CCLG-ALL 2008 group. Patients treated with CCCG-ALL 2015 from Fujian Medical Union Hospital had a significantly higher 4-year OS and EFS than did those from the other four hospitals. Real-world TA of cALL greatly decreased, and its long-term survival significantly increased in Fujian, which may be related to optimizing programs, multi-center collaboration, and improving treatment compliance. Since 1978, millions of Chinese workers have migrated to seek personal development opportunities. However, little is known about what the world's largest internal migration means for the public. Safety perceptions concern the vital well-being of each individual and can indirectly indicate criminal activities in society. From a microscopic perspective, this study is the first attempt to focus on the impact of migration on individuals' public safety perceptions in China. Using the ordered probit model and conducting robustness tests using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) and Instrumental Variable (IV) methods, we found that an individual's public safety perception generally declines when the proportion of migrants in the community increases. However, the impacts on the various groups were different. Internal migration has been suggested to have a more significant influence on females, older people, high-income groups, locals, and individuals living in the east. Furthermore, migration negatively affected public safety perceptions in China, primarily by endangering employment and weakening social trust. This study has significant policy implications for the effective public safety administration in China. Likewise, the findings could also help many developing countries with migration management because there has been an increase in rural-urban migration during economic development. Background and Aims: The International AIH Pathology Group (IAIH‐PG) put forward the new histological criteria of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) in 2022, which have not undergone adequate verification. In this study, we verified the applicability of the new histological criteria in the population of Chinese patients with chronic liver disease, comparing it with the simplified criteria. Methods: The gold standard for diagnosis in all patients was based on histological findings, combined with clinical manifestations and laboratory tests and determined after a follow‐up period of at least 3 years. A total of 640 patients with various chronic liver diseases from multiple centres underwent scoring using the new histological criteria and the simplified criteria, comparing their diagnostic performance. Results: In this study, the new histological criteria showed a sensitivity of 73.6% and 100% for likely and possible AIH, with specificities of 100% and 69.0% respectively. The coincidence rates of possible AIH for the new histological criteria, simplified histological criteria and simplified score were 81.7%, 72.8% and 69.7% respectively. For likely AIH, the rates were 89.2%, 75.9% and 65.6% respectively. Based on the new histological criteria, all patients with AIH were correctly diagnosed. Specifically, 73.6% were diagnosed with likely AIH and 26.4% were possible AIH. Additionally, the simplified histological criteria achieved a diagnosis rate of 98.6% for AIH, while the simplified score could only diagnose 53.8% of AIH. Conclusions: Compared with the simplified score and simplified histological criteria, the sensitivity and specificity of the new histological criteria for AIH were significantly improved. Background Xeligekimab (GR1501) is a fully human monoclonal antibody that selectively neutralizes interleukin (IL)-17A and has shown potential efficacy in treating moderate-to-severe psoriasis in preliminary trials. Objectives To evaluate the efficacy and safety of xeligekimab in Chinese patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Methods A total of 420 Chinese patients were randomized to 200 mg xeligekimab every 2 weeks (n = 281) or placebo (n = 139) for the first 12 weeks, followed by an extension of the treatment schedule to xeligekimab every 4 weeks for a further 40 weeks. Efficacy was assessed by evaluating achievement of Physician Global Assessment (PGA) 0/1 and 75%, 90% and 100% improvement in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI 75, PASI 90 and PASI 100, respectively). The safety profile was also evaluated. Results At week 12, PASI 75, PASI 90 and PASI 100 were achieved in 90.7%, 74.4% and 30.2% of patients in the xeligekimab group vs. 8.6%, 1.4% and 0% of patients in the placebo group, respectively. PGA 0/1 was achieved in 74.4% patients in the xeligekimab group and 3.6% of patients in the placebo group. PASI 75 and PGA 0/1 were maintained until week 52. No unexpected adverse events were recorded. Conclusions Xeligekimab showed high efficacy and was well tolerated in Chinese patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Giulio Aleni's Xingxue cushu 性學觕述 (A Brief Introduction to the Study of Human Nature, 1623–1646) was a product of an ambitious project by the Jesuits in China to introduce Aristotle's natural philosophy to Chinese literati. The book, originally from the Cursus Conimbricensis (1592-1606), shows a good example of the interactions between transmitter and receptor in the encounter of Western culture with Chinese culture. This paper explores Aleni's linguistic strategy for placing Western concepts of human nature in dialogue with traditional Chinese thought. It argues that the work's favourable reception among Chinese scholars was due to Aleni's use of translation principles that anticipate transwriting. Namely, instead of direct translation Aleni adapted the text for his Chinese readers by rewriting partly, adding his own responses, borrowing Chinese classical terms and creatively interpreting these terms, quoting many Chinese classical allusions, and employing Chinesestyle arguments. These linguistic tools Aleni used facilitate the reader's understanding and acceptance of the Western philosophy of human nature. His linguistic success on communication between the two thoughts on human nature helps us redefine the concept of transwriting and find an in-between space for a rational philosophic and religious dialogue between China and the West. This study aimed to apply the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) Simple Rules (SR), the Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in an identical cohort of Chinese patients and to analyze their performance in discrimination of ovarian masses with solid components. This was a two-center retrospective study that included a total of 94 ovarian lesions in 86 women enrolled from January 2018 to February 2023. The lesions were classified by using the IOTA terminology and CEUS was performed for the lesions exhibiting solid components on ultrasonography, IOTA SR and O-RADS were applied, and CEUS images were analyzed retrospectively. We assessed the time to wash-in, time to peak intensity (PI), PI compared to myometrium, and time to wash-out, and observed statistically significant differences between benign and malignant lesions in the first three parameters. CEUS characteristics were employed to determine CEUS scores for benign (score 0) and malignant (score 3) lesions. Subsequently, the lesions were reassessed based on the IOTA SR and O-RADS classifications and CEUS scores. The sensitivity, specificity, and area under the receiver-operating-characteristics curve (AUC) of the different models were also determined. Among the 94 ovarian lesions, 46 (48.9%) were benign and 48 (51.1%) were malignant. It was found that in the 60 lesions to which the SR could be applied, the sensitivity, specificity, and AUC was 0.900, 0.667, and 0.783, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, and AUC of O-RADS was observed to be 1.000, 0.283 and 0.641, respectively. When SR and O-RADS were combined with CEUS, their sensitivity, specificity, and AUC values were increased to 0.917, 0.891, 0.904, and 0.958, 0.783, 0.871, respectively. IOTA SR and O-RADS exhibited relatively low specificity in differentiating malignant from benign ovarian lesions with the solid components, and their diagnostic performance can be significantly improved when combined with CEUS. The conversion of Han Chinese in the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) to Islam is a complex and dynamic process that goes beyond the mere adoption of a new faith. Potential converts undergo a multifaceted journey involving learning about Islam, reflecting on Hui and Han ethnic cultures and customs, and understanding the historical relationship between Islam as a religion and ethnic Hui Chinese people. Through this process, Han converts gradually develop a pluralistic and multilayered identity that encompasses their Han ethnicity and Muslim faith. The article emphasizes the importance of daily inter-group interactions and the use of various strategies to resolve conflicts while adhering to Islamic beliefs. It introduces a theoretical framework consisting of discursive, local, and configurable values to analyze the nuances of everyday experiences among Han converts. This framework provides a structured approach to understanding the complexities of identity formation and enrich ongoing discussions within the Islamic anthropological research community. This study explores how individuals respond to the Tradable Credits Scheme (TCS), a cap-and-trade approach aiming to reduce congestion, by introducing the norm activation model (NAM). The research utilized questionnaire data from 544 Chinese participants. First, we analyzed the credit proportion thresholds for shifting travel mode and the distribution of participants corresponding to five thresholds. Second, we developed the latent and explicit variable model, revealing that NAM could explain acceptability of TCS, with personal norms being crucial; specifically, personal norms could positively predict perceived effectiveness, attitude towards TCS, and behavior intention. Finally, we performed a moderated-mediation analysis, for which the findings suggested TCS's potential in promoting sustainable travel, with driving licenses and the frequency of weekly trips as significant behavior moderators. People with driving licenses and having less travels per week would be more likely to intensify their behavior intention by enhancing their recognition on TCS.
