Two autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) T cells (axicabtagene ciloleucel [axi-cel] and tisagenlecleucel [tisa-cel]) are commercially approved in Europe for relapsed/refractory (R/R) diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We performed a retrospective study to evaluate patterns of use, efficacy and safety for axi-cel and tisa-cel. Data from 70 patients who underwent apheresis for commercial CAR T cells between January 2018 and November 2019 in our institution were retrospectively collected. Sixty-one patients were infused. The median age at infusion was 59 years old (range 27-75 years). The median number of prior therapies was 3 (range, 2-6). The overall response rates (ORRs) at 1 month and 3 months were 63% and 45%, respectively, with 48% and 39% achieving a complete response (CR), respectively. After a median follow-up after infusion of 5.7 months, the median progression-free survival (PFS) was 3.0 months (95% CI, 2.8-8.8 months), and the median overall survival (OS) was 11.8 months (95% CI, 6.0-12.6 months). In multivariate analysis, factors associated with poor PFS were the number of previous lines of treatment before CAR T cells (>= 4) (P= .010) and a C reactive protein (CRP) value >30 mg/L at the time of lymphodepletion (P 30 mg/L (P= .009). Cytokine release syndrome (CRS) of any grade occurred in 85% of patients, including 8% of patients with CRS of grade 3 or higher. Immune cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS) of any grade occurred in 28% of patients, including 10% of patients with ICANS of grade 3 or higher. Regarding efficacy and safety, no significant difference was found between axi-cel and tisa-cel. This analysis describes one of the largest real-life cohorts of patients treated with axi-cel and tisa-cel for R/R aggressive B cell lymphoma in Europe.

This study compares the performance of different measurement methods for characterizing particles during thermal spraying. The accuracy of double-point and single-point measurements is assessed in the context of HVOF and suspension plasma spraying (SPS) where in-flight particle temperature and velocity are recorded for different powders and suspensions. The results are evaluated by analyzing splats and correlating their size and shape to in-flight particle temperature measurements. It is shown that particle diagnostic systems based on single-point measurements are well suited for SPS and HVOF processes.

International audience; SETTING: Asthma is the most common chronic respiratory disease among adolescents; however, very little is known about asthma in this age group. OBJECTIVE: To explore asthma in adolescence using cross-sectional and retrospective representative data. DESIGN: A population-based sample of adolescents was selected from 578 classes in 186 schools of eight metropolitan educational districts in France and invited to complete a self-administered questionnaire (National Adolescent Health Survey [NAHS]). RESULTS: Of 14,278 adolescents selected, 12,466 (87%) participated in the survey. Prevalence of 'ever asthma' was higher among boys, among those in the south and west, among those from French overseas departments, in active smokers, and in those with other allergies, including food allergy. It was lower in adolescents whose mother was a housewife. Puberty was not associated with 'ever asthma'; however, asthmatic boys without signs of puberty usually had more attacks than those with. Severe asthma was associated with early onset and female sex. Asthma medications and consultations did not depend on socio-economic status. Asthmatic adolescents were found to need more health care in terms of medication use, consultations and hospitalisations other than for asthma than other adolescents; this relationship was strongest among severe asthmatics.

International audience; Objective: To evaluate the associations between biomechanical, physical, and psychological demands and occupational injury according to depressive symptoms severity. Methods: Two thousand eight hundred eighty-two French working people completed a questionnaire covering sociodemographic characteristics, smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity, job, chronic diseases, depressive symptoms, and injuries during the previous 2-year period. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. Results: Occupational injury (9.2%) strongly related to biomechanical, physical, and psychological demands among depressive-symptoms-free workers (odds ratios ranging from 1.35 to 3.15). These relationships were stronger among the workers with depressive symptoms without medical treatment (11.9%) and among those with persistent symptoms despite a treatment (1.7%), with odds ratios up to 12. These associations were partially confounded (up to 51%) by unhealthy behaviors, health status, and chronic diseases. Conclusions: High-occupational demands and depressive symptoms can be early identified and monitored to prevent injury.

Automatic fiber placement (AFP) is an innovative method for fabricating monolithic large-scale composite structures, such as the big and long barrels that can be assembled to make the fuselage of an airplane. Laser-ultrasonics and laser tapping, which use lasers for generation and detection of ultrasound, are established inspection techniques that are very efficient for detecting flaws (delaminations, disbonds) in complex shape composite structures. A laser-ultrasonic system with a configuration well adapted for the inspection of these big barrel structures was designed, built and installed at the National Research Council of Canada facility, located at Mirabel, Qc, adjacent to composite manufacturing operations. The laser-ultrasonic system is mounted on a long cantilever structure that is inserted into the fuselage. The probing head includes a rotating mirror assembly allowing 360° and one meter wide or more scanning of the whole internal wall of the barrel. The system can also inspect the external wall, when the barrel is mounted on carriage allowing rotation around its axis, as well as various smaller complex shape parts. This inspection system can be operated in both laser-ultrasonic and laser-tapping modes, the latter being particularly useful for honeycombs. International audience; Background : Physical job demands (PJD), age, disability and lifestyle may influence the risk of occupational injury.Aim : To assess the relationships between PJD, lifestyle and injury in workers of various ages.Methods A total of 2888 randomly selected workers from northeastern France, aged ≥15, completed a postal questionnaire. The PJD score was defined as the total number of the following reported job demands: using pneumatic tools, other vibrating hand tools, hammers, machine tools or vibrating platforms and exposure to manual handling tasks, awkward postures, high pace of work, high physical workload, work at heights, work in adverse climates or exposure to noise, cold or heat. Data were analysed using logistic regression.Results Nine per cent of subjects reported an injury during the previous 2 years. The PJD score was related to the injury rate for workers aged ≥45: crude odds ratio (OR) 3.5 (95% confidence interval = 1.5-8.0) for PJD = 1, 5.0 (2.2-11.3) for PJD = 2-3 and 14.5 (6.5-32.2) for PJD ≥4, versus PJD = 0.
