RESUMO O artigo objetiva analisar a internação de usuários de álcool e outras drogas em Hospital Geral, por meio de prontuários de pacientes com idades entre 28 e 67 anos, que faziam uso de álcool ou outras drogas havia mais de quatorze anos e já tinham sido internados pelo menos duas vezes. Os resultados revelam lacunas nos serviços de saúde, onde a internação é vista como tratamento final para o uso de drogas. Contudo, após cumprir o prazo de isolamento, desintoxicação e abstinência, o paciente volta ao convívio familiar e social, sendo necessário intensificar ações de saúde atuando no fortalecimento dos pacientes para esse ‘retorno’.

ABSTRACT The objective was to evaluate the quality of sunflower seeds classified according to their thickness and passed through the seeder-fertilizer dosing system under variation of the travel speed. A lot of M734 was classified by thickness passing the seeds through a set of oblong-hole sieves and two thicknesses were selected. A portion of the seeds with only the commercial classification was also reserved, named as non-classified. The biometric evaluation was done and the sowing was carried out at 5.0, 6.5, 8.0, 9.5 and 11.0 km h-1. The quality of the seeds was evaluated through: germination and first germination count, average time and percentage of emergence in sand, accelerated aging and tetrazolium test. The classification by thickness reduce the coefficient of variation of the length, width, thickness, and mass but seeds classification does not affect seed vigor and viability after sowing under speed variation. In the higher studied speed, the passage of seeds through the dosing mechanism reduces germination. The vigor is affected at 6.5 km h-1 speed by the accelerated aging test. According to the emergence in sand and tetrazolium test, speed variation does not affect the vigor and viability of sunflower seeds.

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the biometric characteristics of fruits and seeds of Diospyros inconstans Jacq., germination and formation of seedlings obtained from fruits at three maturity stages, subjected to different temperatures. Biometric data were obtained from 100 fruits and 100 seeds. The determining parameters in the biometry of the fruits were: length, width, mass and number of seeds/fruit and for the seeds: length, width, thickness and mass. In the germination test, a factorial scheme (3x4), three maturity stages (green, intermediate and reddish), and four temperatures (20, 25, 30 and 35 °C) were used. The analyzed variables were: germination, germination speed index (GSI), mean germination time (MGT), time to obtain 50% germination (t50), percentage of seedlings, length and dry mass of shoots and roots, and collar diameter. Fruits and seeds showed greater variation in the parameters fresh mass and number of seeds per fruit. The germination speed index was higher in seeds from reddish fruits, and seeds from green fruits originated better-developed seedlings. Temperatures of 25 and 30 °C are recommended for conducting the seed germination test at the three maturity stages.

Objetivo: Descrever a experiência da estratégia de eliminação dos focos da dengue no município de Jaíba-MG, Brasil. Materiais e Métodos: Trata-se de um relato de experiência realizado na cidade de Jaíba, localizada no norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil. A população estimada do município é de 39.850 habitantes e é considerada área endêmica para a dengue. O estudo ocorreu no período de janeiro a junho de 2019. Foram realizados levantamento e mapeamento dos imóveis em que foram encontrados focos do vetor. Após identificação, foi realizado retorno semanal aos imóveis pela Vigilância em Saúde até a eliminação total dos criadouros de mosquito. Resultados: Obteve-se um resultado positivo com diminuição de 72% dos focos da dengue. Conclusão: Observou-se que o retorno semanal aos imóveis com criadouros de mosquitos fez com que os moradores participassem ativamente das ações de controle do vetor. Portanto, concluiu-se ser de extrema importância a visita da Vigilância em Saúde aos imóveis, semanalmente, para controle dos focos de criadouros de mosquito e, consequentemente, diminuição dos casos de dengue no município.

Abstract Changes in root growth and metabolism of P in tomato cultivars are necessary in acidic soils in tropical and subtropical regions in response to P deficiency. This increase in the efficiency of phosphorus absorption by tomatoes can significantly reduce the doses of phosphate fertilizers used, as well as, possibly, the more immediate use of P fixed in the soil matrix, with favorable effects on agricultural sustainability, promoting the use of marginal areas in terms of soil fertility, and the national fertilizer economy. The tested hypothesis was that there would be no difference in the uptake and utilization of P by tomato cultivars; therefore, this study investigated the variation in the dynamics of absorption and efficiency of P-use through changes in the root, stem, leaf, gas exchange, and P-use efficiency in tomato cultivars contrasting P-absorption. The experimental design comprised a factorial scheme consisting of two cultivars that were tolerant and sensitive to P deficiency and three P concentrations (control, moderate deficiency, and severe deficiency). P limitation in the tolerant cultivar promoted high dry matter concentration (root, stem, and leaf), leaf area, root volume, nutrient translocation, rate of leaf gas exchange, and efficiency under P-deficiency stress. It was concluded from the research that the variation in the dynamics of absorption and efficiency of P use of the tolerant cultivar increased the production of roots, leaves, and leaf gas exchange under P stress conditions.

Dracaena reflexa Lam. possui potencial ornamental e medicinal e sua propagação ocorre, preferencialmente, por via assexuada. Os indutores naturais podem incrementar o processo de enraizamento de estacas. Objetivou-se avaliar a eficiência de indutores naturais no enraizamento e desenvolvimento de estacas de D. reflexa, com presença ou ausência de folhas. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com esquema fatorial 3x2, (água de coco + polpa de banana; extrato de sementes germinadas de feijão ou água de arroz + polpa de batata-doce) e (presença ou ausência de folhas nas estacas), com quatro repetições. A água de coco + polpa de banana proporcionou aumento do número de folhas, número, comprimento e massa seca de raízes; e da massa seca de parte aérea, quando aplicada em estacas com presença de folhas. A aplicação do indutor natural água de coco + polpa de banana proporciona maior enraizamento e desenvolvimento de estacas de Dracaena reflexa.

In literary criticism, the semiotics of Roland Barthes, a widely used approach in popular culture, is rarely applied to short stories, particularly in Philippine diaspora literature, as evident in the dearth of studies conducted in the field. To fill this gap, this study aims to unveil the ideological underpinnings in Bienvenido N. Santos's (BNS) four selected short stories by conducting a two-level semiotic analysis of their representation of Filipino-American experiences of exile. For the first level of analysis, the short stories' intrinsic elements, such as images, characters, characterization, setting, figures of speech, and dialogues, were examined to demystify the signifier-signified relationship. For the second level of analysis, the ideological functions behind the myths were discussed. The Filipino-American exile is a Filipino with a sense of pride in fulfilling the American Dream, a pursuit of a better life, and who aspires for financial stability, social mobility, and greater opportunities for one's self and family. In realizing this American Dream, there is a hegemonic group that imposes its norms on the citizens of one of its former colonies. This study, anchored on Barthes's semiologies, proves that literature, like popular culture artefacts, may entrench colonial beliefs instead of playing the ideal role in decolonial resistance if not closely read. Future researchers may apply the Barthesian framework to Philippine literary texts, other BNS's anthologies, other authors, and 21st-century diaspora literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of different roughage associated with pseudostem hay of banana trees on nutrients intake, chemical composition of milk and cheese and the fatty acid profile of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows. Eight cows F1 Holstein x Zebu were used in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design, each composed of four animals, four treatments and four experimental periods. Four experimental diets were used: diet 1 – sorghum silage as exclusive dietary roughage; diet 2 – sorghum silage (70%) associated with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis; SS); diet 3 – 70% elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Roxo) with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis; EGPS); and diet 4 – 70% sugar cane with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis; SCPS). The roughage: concentrate ratio in the four experimental diets was 75:25 in dry matter basis. For the chemical composition of milk and cheese, there was no difference between diets except for milk urea nitrogen which was higher with the EGPS diet. However, in the lipid fraction of milk, the EGPS diet favoured the increase of total monounsaturated fatty acids, besides increasing the concentration of conjugated linoleic acid, contributing to the improvement of some nutritional evaluation indexes of the milk lipid fraction. The pseudostem hay of banana trees associated with different roughages did not influence the chemical composition of milk and cheese of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows.Highlights The inclusion of pseudostem hay of banana trees in the diet of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows does not change the milk yield corrected for 3.5% fat. Pseudostem hay of banana trees diet of lactating cows increased the concentration of omega 6 in milk. Pseudostem hay in the diet of lactating crossbred cows did not change the yield, flavour and appearance of the cheese.

This study aimed to evaluate the stability of natural antioxidants in minimally processed Anredera cordifolia and Lactuca canadensis and their physical-chemical and antioxidant characteristics at time zero of storage (T0) and after 3, 6, 9 and 12 days, at temperature of 7 °C. For the attribute color, L. canadensis did not show significant differences between the parameters, whereas A. cordifolia showed variation in its lightness from the third day of storage. Both vegetables had significant increments of pH, which ranged from 5.77 to 6.16 in A. cordifolia and from 6.23 to 6.43 in L. canadensis. The contents of soluble solids also increased significantly, from 2.28 to 4.17 °Brix and from 4.89 to 6.30 °Brix in A. cordifolia and L. canadensis, respectively. No significant difference was observed in total titratable acidity at any of the times evaluated (p>0.05). Among the bioactive compounds of the minimally processed vegetables, the contents of carotenoids, tannins and total phenolic compounds were affected by storage, demonstrating that this process has influence on the concentrations of the natural antioxidants studied.

A interação entre produtores e consumidores no contexto das cadeias curtas, a exemplo das feiras da agricultura familiar, constitui a problemática do presente estudo, que buscou analisar como a Feira de produtos da agricultura familiar de São Lourenço do Oeste/SC constitui alternativa para o sistema agroalimentar global. Utilizou-se como metodologia um levantamento de dados realizado na feira por meio de entrevista semiestruturada aplicada a uma produtora feirante e uma consumidora, escolhidas de forma aleatória. Apreende-se que a agricultura familiar, pela sua capacidade de adaptação e resistência, além de inserir-se no contexto do modelo agroalimentar global, também é capaz de constituir modos alternativos de produção e comercialização, como as feiras, espaços característicos das Redes Agroalimentares Alternativas. Segundo informações coletadas, a feira se caracteriza como um espaço de interação entre as expectativas de produtores e consumidores, possibilitando qualidade de vida a ambos e constituindo-se como um processo alternativo aos grandes mercados globalizados. Abstract: The problem analyzed in this study is the interaction between product and consumption beyond the conventional formats imposed by globalization. It aims to analyze how the fair and family farming products of São Lourenço do Oeste, SC, Brazil are alternatives to the global agri-food system. A survey was done in the fair and the data collection was carried through semi-structured interviews applied to a producer and consumer marketer, chosen at random. Results indicate that family farming, due to its capacity for adaptation and resistance, in addition of being inserted in the context of the global agri-food model, is also able to establish itself as an alternative mode of production and commercialization. One such alternative is the fairs, characteristic of the Alternative Agrifood Networks. Based on the information collected, the fair is established as a space for connecting the expectations of producers and consumers, enabling quality of life for both, and constituting an alternative process to the large globalized markets.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the BRS capiaçu grass silage combined with different hays of banana crop residue on fermentation profile, aerobic stability and nutritional value. The treatments consisted of elephant grass cv. BRS capiaçu (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) ensiled with 37.44% banana peel hay, 36.06% banana pseudostem hay and 37.00% banana leaf hay, on a dry matter (DM) basis and control silage (no additive). The experimental design used was completely randomized, with five treatments and five replicates. Forage was collected when it reached 3.5 meters in height (90 days). Experimental PVC silos of known weight, 50 cm long, 10 cm diameter, were used for silage making. For all treatments, silage aerobic stability breakdown started after 64 hours exposure to air. The BRS capiaçu grass control silage or silage combined with pseudostem hay (mean of 73.15 kg t GM-1) presented effluent losses 40.46% higher than those observed for BRS capiaçu grass silage + banana leaf hay and 69.17% in relation the BRS capiaçu grass silage + banana peel hay. The inclusion of banana crop residue (hay) when ensiling BRS capiaçu grass decreased 13.93% gas losses compared to the control silage (mean of 3.11% DM). Higher values of total digestible nutrients, metabolizable energy and digestible energy content was found in BRS capiaçu grass silage + with banana peel hay. The greater in vitro dry matter digestibility and in vitro neutral detergent fiber digestibility was observed for BRS capiaçu grass silage combined with pseudostem hay. The inclusion of 37.44% banana peel hay improves the fermentation profile and aerobic stability of BRS capiaçu grass silage.

Objective The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different levels of quantitative feed restriction on nutrient intake and digestibility, nitrogen balance, efficiency and feeding behavior, and productive performance in F1 Holstein/Zebu cows during the middle third of their lactation. Methods Sixty F1 Holstein/Zebu cows with 111.5±11.75 days of lactation and an initial body weight (BW) of 499±30 kg (mean±standard error of the mean) were used. The experimental design was completely randomized with the following diet levels of feed restriction: 3.39%, 2.75%, 2.50%, 2.25%, and 2.00% of BW, with 12 replications for each level. The experiment lasted for 63 days, of which each period lasted 21 days with the first 16 days for diet adaptation followed by 5 days for collection of data and samples.
