This study aims to characterize video game use disorder in adolescents, identifying the particularities of those who present it, its effects at the brain level, related factors, and existing measurement instruments. A systematic review of the scientific publications available in Scopus was carried out, between the period 2014-2018 on video game use disorder in adolescents. Adolescents with this disorder are characterized by being mostly men, spending more time daily and weekly playing than adolescents without this disorder, showing diverse symptoms in the behavioral, affective, and cognitive areas. At brain level, it is referred that in this disorder there is an increase and decrease in the activation of specific areas of the brain. Likewise, the presence of some psychological disorder and impulsivity are considered factors that increase the risk of suffering from it. However, there are protective factors as school commitment and parental supervision, among others. El objetivo de este estudio es la revisión de la evidencia actual sobre la relación entre la vivencia de experiencias adversas en la infancia y el posterior uso de drogas en la adolescencia y adultez, y sus características. La metodología utilizada fue una revisión sistemática de publicaciones científicas, entre el periodo 2013-2017, disponibles en la base de datos Scopus sobre experiencias adversas en la infancia y el uso de drogas en la adolescencia y adultez que arrojó un total de 69 publicaciones incluidas en el estudio. Las experiencias adversas en la infancia presentan una elevada relación con el uso y/o abuso de drogas en la adolescencia y adultez. El consumo de drogas en adolescentes y adultos expuestos a experiencias traumáticas en la infancia se da principalmente en hombres. Las drogas mayormente usadas son alcohol, tabaco, cannabis y fármacos no recetados y, en menor medida, opioides, cocaína y anfetaminas. Las drogas, en este sentido, cumplen el rol de barrera química para distanciar el dolor emocional que deriva del recuerdo de las experiencias traumáticas y su intensa carga psíquica. Se requieren acciones de promoción del buen trato en la infancia, así como el abordaje terapéutico temprano de niños expuestos a experiencias traumáticas.

espanolObjetivo: Los cuidadores oncologicos pediatricos se encontraran con circunstancias que llegaran a desafiar sus recursos personales para afrontar las diversas demandas propias del cuidado. Por lo tanto, el objetivo del estudio fue determinar la relacion entre el sindrome de sobrecarga y las estrategias de afrontamiento en cuidadores de pacientes oncologicos pediatricos. Metodo: Participaron 93 cuidadores principales de pacientes oncologicos pediatricos (69,9% mujeres, 30,1% varones, edad promedio =37,20 anos, DE=11,32), seleccionados de forma no probabilistica. Se aplico la Escala de Sobrecarga del Cuidador y el Cuestionario COPE-28. Se utilizaron estadisticos correlacionales y comparativos para el analisis de datos. Resultados: Los resultados indican la presencia de correlaciones significativas e inversas que varian entre r = -,25 y r = -,56. Sin embargo, no se evidencio una asociacion significativa entre las dimensiones de la sobrecarga del cuidador y el uso de sustancias. Por otro lado, aquellos cuidadores que utilizan estrategias poco adaptativas, son mas propensos a generar sobrecarga frente a su rol, influyendo en su vida personal, familiar y social. Conclusion: Existe una relacion significativa entre el sindrome de sobrecarga y las estrategias de afrontamiento. Ademas, se identifican diferencias significativas en la sobrecarga segun el lugar de procedencia y las horas dedicadas al cuidado. EnglishObjective: Pediatric cancer caregivers will encounter circumstances that will challenge their personal resources to face the diverse demands of care. Therefore, the objective of the study was to determine the relationship between burden syndrome and coping strategies in caregivers of pediatric cancer patients. Method: 93 main caregivers of pediatric cancer patients participated (69.9% women, 30.1% men, mean age = 37.20 years, SD = 11.32), selected in a non-probabilistic way. The Caregiver Burden Scale and the COPE-28 Questionnaire were applied. Correlational and comparative statistics were used for data analysis. Results: The results indicate the presence of significant and inverse correlations that vary between r = -.25 and r = -.56. However, no significant association was found between the dimensions of caregiver burden and substance use. On the other hand, those caregivers who use poorly adaptive strategies are more likely to generate overload in relation to their role, influencing their personal, family and social life. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between overload syndrome and coping strategies. In addition, significant differences in overload are identified according to the place of origin and the hours dedicated to care.

Resumen Objetivos Traducir al espanol y evaluar las evidencias de validez de contenido, validez de constructo y confiabilidad del Cancer Worry Chart como medida de item unico de la preocupacion por el cancer. Metodo La traduccion al espanol del Cancer Worry Chart se realizo con el procedimiento de traduccion inversa. Los participantes fueron 165 personas sanas con historia familiar de cancer quienes respondieron el Cancer Worry Chart y la Cancer Worry Scale (CWS). Resultados La traduccion inversa permite tener una version en espanol del Cancer Worry Chart cuyo contenido es claro, coherente y relevante (V ˃ 0,70). Se reporta evidencia de validez de constructo en base a 3 criterios: a) un ajuste adecuado del modelo unidimensional conformado por el Cancer Worry Chart y los items de la CWS realizado con el metodo de ecuaciones estructurales (χ2S-B = 23,38; df = 14; χ2S-B/df = 1,67; CFI = 0,99; RMSEA = 0,064); b) una correlacion significativa entre el Cancer Worry Chart y la CWS (r = 0,76 [IC95%: 0,68-0,90]); c) promedios ascendentes en la puntuacion de la CWS a medida que los grupos conformados por cada opcion de respuesta del Cancer Worry Chart expresan un mayor grado de preocupacion (F = 55,72; p 0,000; ω2 = 0,57). La confiabilidad del Cancer Worry Chart esta por encima de lo recomendado (αitem unico = 0,84). Conclusiones La version en espanol del Cancer Worry Chart mostro evidencias satisfactorias de validez de contenido, validez de constructo y confiabilidad para medir, de manera breve, rapida y general, la preocupacion por el cancer en personas sanas con antecedentes familiares de cancer.

Objective To translate into Spanish and evaluate the evidence of content validity, construct validity and reliability of the Cancer Worry Chart as a single item measure of worry for cancer. Method The Spanish translation of the Cancer Worry Chart was done with the back-translation procedure. The participants were 165 healthy people with a family history of cancer who responded to the Cancer Worry Chart and the Cancer Worry Scale (CWS). Results Translation back-translation allows a Spanish version of the Cancer Worry Chart whose content is clear, coherent and relevant (V > .70). Evidence of construct validity is reported based on 3 criteria: (a) an adequate adjustment of the one-dimensional model formed by the Cancer Worry Chart and the items of the CWS performed with the structural equations method (χ2S-B = 23.38; df = 14; χ2S-B/df = 1.67; CFI = .988; RMSEA = .064); (b) a significant correlation between the Cancer Worry Chart and the CWS (r = .76 [IC95%: .68–.90]); (c) ascending averages in the CWS score as the groups formed by each response option of the Cancer Worry Chart express a greater degree of worry (F = 55.72; p = .000; ω2 = .57). The reliability of the Cancer Worry Chart is above what is recommended (αsingle item = .84). Conclusion The Spanish version of the Cancer Worry Chart showed satisfactory evidence of content validity, construct validity and reliability to measure, briefly, quickly and generally, the worry for cancer in healthy people with a family history of cancer.

The objective of this study was to evaluate factors related to the mental health of Peruvian older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study had a cross-sectional and observational design. A total of 274 older adults in Lima, Peru (Mage = 67.86) filled out a sociodemographic survey, the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale, Mental Health Inventory-5, Patient Health Questionnaire-2 item, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale. A Structural Equation Model (SEM) was estimated to test an a priori model that relates the sociodemographic variables, COVID-19 Anxiety, psychological well-being, anxiety and depression. The model fit indices indicated a good fit to the data. The socio-demographic variables explained 23.8% of the variance of the COVID-19 Anxiety (R2 = .238). Socio-demographic variables explained 50.5% of psychological well-being variance, 52% of anxiety and 46.9% of depression. Also, sex, work; being diagnosed with COVID-19; family member with COVID-19 diagnosis; and time of exposure to COVID-19 information had statistically significant effects psychological well-being, anxiety and depression. In conclusion, some sociodemographic characteristics and COVID-19 anxiety affect the psychological well-being, anxiety and depression. The findings may allow for a better understanding of the mental health of older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic and guide government responses to detect, anticipate and minimize its impact on the mental health of this population.

The present study examined how conspiracy beliefs about COVID-19 vaccines specifically relate to symptoms of fear of COVID-19 in a sample of four South American countries. A total of 1785 people from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru participated, responding to a sociodemographic survey, the Fear of COVID-19 scale (FCV-19 S) and the Vaccine Conspiracy Beliefs Scale-COVID-19 (VCBS-COVID-19). Network analysis identified the most important symptoms of fear and conspiracy beliefs about COVID-19 vaccines (nodes) and the associations between them (edges). In addition, the robustness of the network of these indicators of centrality and the possible differences in the structure and connectivity of the networks between the four countries were evaluated. The results suggest that the nodes with the highest centrality were items 2 and 5 of the FCV-19 S and item 2 of the VCBS-COVID-19. Likewise, item 6 is the belief that most predicts conspiracy beliefs about vaccines against COVID-19; while item 6 was the symptom that most predicts fear of COVID-19. The findings strongly support cross-cultural similarities in the networks across the four countries rather than differences. Although it was expected that a higher presence of symptoms of fear of COVID-19 may lead people to compensate for their fear by believing in conspiratorial ideas about vaccines and, consequently, rejecting the COVID-19 vaccine, the results do not clearly show this relationship. This could lead other researchers to generate evidence to explain the differences between Latin American countries and countries in other contexts in terms of vaccination rates. This evidence could be useful to develop policies favoring vaccination against COVID-19 that are more contextualized to the Latin American region, characterized by social instability and economic recession during the pandemic.

The Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) was recently developed to assess dysfunctional anxiety related to COVID-19. Although different studies reported that the CAS is psychometrically sound, it is unclear whether it is invariant across countries. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the measurement invariance of the CAS in twelve Latin American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay). A total of 5196 people participated, with a mean age of 34.06 (SD = 26.54). Multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to examine the measurement invariance of the CAS across countries and gender. Additionally, the graded response model (GRM) was used to provide a global representation of the representativeness of the scale with respect to the COVID-19 dysfunctional anxiety construct. The unidimensional structure of the five-item CAS was not confirmed in all countries. Therefore, it was suggested that a four-item model of the CAS (CAS-4) provides a better fit across the twelve countries and reliable scores. Multigroup CFA showed that the CAS-4 exhibits scalar invariance across all twelve countries and all genders. In addition, the CAS-4 items are more informative at average and high levels of COVID-19 dysfunctional anxiety than at lower levels. According to the results, the CAS-4 is an instrument with strong cross-cultural validity and is suitable for cross-cultural comparisons of COVID-19 dysfunctional anxiety symptoms in the general population of the twelve Latin American countries evaluated. The present study aimed to evaluate the cross-cultural measurement invariance of the Pandemic Grief Scale (PGS) in ten Latin American countries. A total of 2,321 people who had lost a family member or other loved one due to COVID-19 participated, with a mean age of 34.22 years old (SD = 11.99). In addition to the PGS, a single item of suicidal ideation was applied. The unidimensional model of the PGS had adequate fit in most countries and good reliability estimates. There was evidence of measurement invariance by country and gender. Also, a one-point increase in the PGS was associated with an almost twofold increase in the odds of suicidal ideation. Scores greater than or equal to 4 on the PGS are proposed as a cut off to identify individuals with suicidal ideation. Strong evidence of the cross-cultural validity of the PGS is provided. El presente artículo estudia la génesis del prohibicionismo de drogas y su efecto epistemológico-político en el campo científico siguiendo la propuesta analítica de Pierre Bourdieu. A través de una revisión teórica y documental crítica se problematiza, mediante la reflexividad del campo científico de las drogas, la formación del campo y el habitus científico que ha estado fuertemente condicionado por el proceso de demonización de las drogas y usuarios, a partir de un determinismo farmacológico que asocia los comportamientos individuales y sociales con las sustancias. Se recomienda avanzar hacia una revolución científica que contenga un cambio de paradigma y una transformación del habitus científico-profesional en el campo interdisciplinario, atendiendo a la complejidad social, cultural y política que influyen en las maneras de conocer e intervenir la realidad. This article studies the genesis of drug prohibitionism and its epistemologicalpolitical effect in the scientific field following the analytical proposal of Pierre Bourdieu. Through a critical theoretical and documentary review, the formation of the field and the scientific habitus that has been strongly conditioned by the process of demonization of drugs and users are problematized through the reflexivity of the scientific field of drugs, based on a pharmacological determinism that associates individual and social behaviors with substances. It is recommended to move towards a scientific revolution that contains a paradigm shift and a transformation of the scientific-professional habitus in the interdisciplinary field, taking into account the social, cultural and political complexity that influence the ways of knowing and intervening reality.

Introduction: One part of polypharmacy is related to different medical conditions that come with age in senior patients. Whether they are adequately prescribed or not, most pharmaceutical compounds may potentially produce negative effects in consumers. One of the most highly prescribed psychopharmaceutics in seniors is benzodiazepine. This drug, usually prescribed to treat insomnia or anxiety, is said to be potentially risky for patients’ health. Objective: To determine the existence of scientific evidence of benzodiazepine negative effects in seniors. Method: Scientific publications from 2007 through to 2017 were systematic ally consulted. The database was Scielo, Pubmed, Redalyc, Ebscohost, and Google Scholar. Keywords for the search included seniors, benzodiazepines, physical and psychological effects, psychopharmaceutics, both in English and Spanish. Findings: The most hig hly consumed benzodiazepine by seniors is Diazepam. Anxiety and insomnia are among the most frequent reasons for its prescription. Regarding negative effects, this drug is highly addictive. Side effects include a high probability of falling, leaving bone fractures as a result, decline of cognitive abilities, and a paradoxical increase of the symptoms for which it was originally prescribed. Senior consumers of benzodiazepine are more frequently female.

Las necesarias medidas sanitarias propuestas para mitigar la expansión viral del SARS-CoV-2, como el distanciamiento físico y las cuarentenas, han repercutido no solo en la salud mental de la población sino también ha forzado cambios en la prestación de servicios psicológicos. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo recopilar información esencial sobre el concepto, ventajas, desventajas, usos y recomendaciones de la telepsicología en tiempos de COVID-19. Para ello se realizó una revisión sistemática de la evidencia científica disponible en las bases de datos de Scopus, PubMed y Web of Science. Entre sus resultados se destaca la accesibilidad, la disminución del estigma y la flexibilidad en su aplicación. También se refieren limitaciones como la inseguridad en la privacidad de los datos, las barreras de acceso y la baja formación clínica en competencias necesarias para este formato. Por otra parte, se encontró evidencia favorable de su uso para el tratamiento del trastorno de estrés postraumático, pánico y agorafobia, ansiedad generalizada, y trauma. Se concluye que la intervención psicoterapéutica a través de la telepsicología, en consideración de ciertas recomendaciones y sugerencias críticas, puede ofrecer resultados satisfactorios para el paciente y terapeuta y ser apta para diversos rangos etarios y trastornos.

Resumen El estudio examina las evidencias psicométricas de la Escala de Autoeficacia para Envejecer (EAEE) en una muestra de 400 adultos mayores (75.2% mujeres y 24.8% hombres) de la ciudad de Trujillo (Perú) con una edad promedio de 73.37 años (DE = 7.86). Los participantes completaron la EAEE junto con medidas de satisfacción con la vida y depresión. El análisis factorial exploratorio (AFE), reveló que la EAEE presentaba una estructura factorial unidimensional. El análisis factorial confirmatorio (AFC), mostró que el modelo unidimensional tenía un ajuste aceptable (S-Bχ2 = 54.02, df = 345 p = .001; S-Bχ2/df = 1.54; CFI = .97; RMSEA = .052 [IC90% .021, .078]; y SRMR = .049; AIC= 118.96) y una confiabilidad adecuada (ω = .88 [IC95% .84 - .91]; α = .88 [IC95%: .84 - .91]). Los puntajes de la EAEE se correlacionaron de manera positiva con la satisfacción con la vida (r = .56, p< .01 [IC95%: .46, .79]) y negativa con la depresión (r = -.48, p< .01 [IC95%: -.37, -.73]). Los resultados sugieren que la EAEE presenta evidencias de validez basada en la estructura interna, convergente y discriminante, así como una adecuada confiabilidad. Abstract The study examines the psychometric evidences of the Self-Efficacy Scale for Aging (EAEE) in a sample of 400 older adults (75.2% women and 24.8% men) from the city of Trujillo (Peru) with an average age of 73.37 years (DE = 7.86). The participants completed the EAEE along with measures of life satisfaction and depression. The exploratory factor analysis (AFE) revealed that the EAEE presented a one-dimensional factorial structure. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed that the one-dimensional model had an acceptable fit (S-Bχ2 = 54.02, df = 345 p = .001; S-Bχ2/df = 1.54; CFI = .97; RMSEA = .052 [IC90% .021, .078]; y SRMR = .049; AIC= 118.96) and an adequate reliability (ω = .88 [IC95% .84 - .91]; α = .88 [IC95%: .84 - .91]). EAEE scores correlated positively with satisfaction with life (r = .56, p< .01 [IC95%: .46, .79]) and negative with depression (r = -.48, p< .01 [IC95%: -.37, -.73]). The results suggest that the EAEE presents evidence of validity based on the internal structure, convergent and discriminant, as well as an adequate reliability.

Resumen La gerontología es comprendida como un enfoque interdisciplinario que aborda el proceso de envejecimiento y vejez. El presente artículo caracteriza la evolución de la investigación en el campo gerontológico durante los últimos 44 años a través de un análisis bibliométrico de los trabajos de mayor impacto en el área. Se revisaron 94 publicaciones de la colección principal de la Web of Science (WoS) de Thomson Reuters en el periodo 1975-2018. Se analizan las publicaciones y su evolución longitudinal, el acoplamiento de documentos clásicos, áreas de investigación, autores y co-autorías, revistas y países. Se concluye que Estados Unidos es el país que reúne la mayor cantidad de publicaciones, citas y revistas de difusión de textos clásicos.

Objetivo: La preocupación por el cáncer está asociada con los comportamientos preventivos para la detección de esta enfermedad; sin embargo, no existe un instrumento con evidencias de validez y confiabilidad para medir este constructo en países latinoamericanos, entre ellos el Perú. Los objetivos de este estudio fueron evaluar la validez basada en la estructura interna y fiabilidad de la Cancer Worry Scale (CWS) en una muestra de personas sin diagnóstico oncológico con historia familiar de cáncer. Método: Se contó con la participación de 215 personas sanas con historia familiar de cáncer que acudían al servicio de consulta externa de dos instituciones públicas y privadas de salud de la ciudad de Chimbote con una edad promedio de 42,10 años (DT = 14,05). Para el recojo de información se utilizó una ficha sociodemográfica ad hoc y la Cancer Worry Scale. Resultados: El modelo unidimensional presentó un buen ajuste de los datos (SBχ2 (8) = 14,39; SB χ2 / df = 1,79; CFI = 0,991; SRMR = 0,025; RMSEA = 0,061 [IC90%: 0,000 -0,111]; AIC = 47,701) y una confiabilidad adecuada (ωcorregido = 0,90; IC95%: 0,88-0,92). Conclusión: Se concluye que la CWS presenta adecuadas propiedades psicométricas, siendo una medida que brinda interpretaciones válidas y fiables de la preocupación por el cáncer en el contexto peruano. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the evidence of validity based on the internal structure and reliability of the Cancer Worry Scale (CWS) ina sample of people without cancer diagnosis with a family history of cancer. Method: It counted withthe participation of 215 healthy people with a family history of cancer who attended the outpatientservice of two public and private health institutions in the city of Chimbote with an average age of42.10 years (SD = 14.05). For the collection of information, an ad hoc sociodemographic record andthe Cancer Worry Scale were used. Results: The one-dimensional model presented a good fit of the data(SBχ2 (8) = 14.39, SB χ2 / df = 1.79, CFI = 0.991, SRMR = 0.025, RMSEA = 0.061 [IC90%: 0.000-0.111], AIC = 47.701) and adequate reliability (ω corrected = 0.90; IC95%: 0.88-0.92). Conclusion: Itis concluded that the CWS presents adequate psychometric properties, being a measure that providesvalid and reliable interpretations of the cáncer worry in the peruvian context.

Internet se ha transformado en un recurso indispensable en nuestras vidas, puesto que permite acceder a distintos contenidos de recreación y ocio, instrumentales y académicos, comunicacionales y sociales, entre muchos otros. Uno de los grupos etarios que mayormente utilizan dicha herramienta son los adolescentes, por lo que existe la preocupación por el uso problemático que este público pueda darle al recurso. La referencia a las adicciones comportamentales cada vez cobra más sentido en este ámbito y los avances de la ciencia y la información dan cuenta de ello. Sobre la adicción a internet resulta importante determinar los factores influyentes o de riesgo para su aparición en población adolescente, dado que amplía la comprensión del fenómeno como su eventual prevención o abordaje. Esta revisión pretende analizar la evidencia científica actual sobre la adicción a internet en adolescentes e identificar aquellos elementos que le componen como los factores de riesgo relacionados. Los principales resultados de esta revisión dan cuenta de que la adicción a internet en adolescentes es un fenómeno actual, pero con una delimitación compleja y definición poco consensuada, que presenta importantes consecuencias psicológicas, y con presencia de múltiples factores de riesgo asociados, los cuales pueden ser organizados como: individuales, familiares y psicosociales.

El presente articulo es una propuesta de reflexion y analisis del concepto de comunidad, en tanto elemento fundamental para la psicologia comunitaria, y las implicancias de sus diversas consideraciones. Desde una mirada sucinta a sus origenes, evolucion y algunas criticas que se han enarbolado sobre el concepto, pretendemos establecer una revision de los topicos que consideramos esenciales para sentar la discusion comunitaria, reflexionando sobre la comunidad desde una postura teorico-practica. Abstract This article is a proposal for reflection and analysis of the concept of community, as a fundamental element for community psychology, and the implications of its various considerations. From a brief look at its origins, evolution and some criticisms that have been raised about the concept, we intend to establish a review of the topics that we consider essential to establish the discussion, reflecting on the community from a theoretical and practical standpoint. Resumen Este estudio pretende reportar la evidencia actual sobre el uso medicinal de cannabis existente en la base de datos Scopus. Se llevó a cabo una revisión sistemática de las publicaciones científicas, entre el periodo 2013-2017, disponibles en Scopus sobre el uso medicinal de cannabis. Estados Unidos es el país con mayor cantidad de publicaciones, seguido de Canadá e Israel; existiendo un aumento progresivo y constante de la evidencia entre los años 2013 y 2017. Los contenidos de las publicaciones versan sobre efectos beneficiosos y adversos para la salud, consecuencias de la legislación del cannabis y su asociación con diversas variables. Existe una falta de estudios en uso medicinal de cannabis respecto a tratamientos y enfermedades, su estandarización, vías de administración y dosis, dando cuenta de la necesidad de un volumen mayor de investigaciones al respecto.

Ante la rápida expansión del nuevo coronavirus (COVID-19) en todo el planeta, este artículo presenta un conjunto de propuestas elaboradas por psicólogas y psicólogos de América Latina que buscan abordar este fenómeno desde una perspectiva regional. En este sentido, se exponen tópicos como el problema de la sobreinformación y el impacto de los protocolos sanitarios sobre la salud mental en diversos ámbitos y sectores de la población. Se propone aquí, además de reunir algunos conocimientos aportados por investigaciones previas y difundir un conjunto de recursos para mitigar o paliar los efectos de la pandemia, contribuir con algunas reflexiones respecto del rol de psicólogas y psicólogos como profesionales de la salud en esta situación de crisis, así como advertir o apelar a los organismos nacionales e internacionales correspondientes.

Objective: The cancer worry is associated with preventive behaviors for the detection of this disease; However, there is no instrument with evidence of validity and reliability to measure this construct in Latin American countries, including Peru. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the evidence of validity based on the internal structure and reliability of the Cancer Worry Scale (CWS) ina sample of people without cancer diagnosis with a family history of cancer. Method: It counted withthe participation of 215 healthy people with a family history of cancer who attended the outpatientservice of two public and private health institutions in the city of Chimbote with an average age of42.10 years (SD = 14.05). For the collection of information, an ad hoc sociodemographic record andthe Cancer Worry Scale were used. Results: The one-dimensional model presented a good fit of the data(SBχ2 (8) = 14.39, SB χ2 / df = 1.79, CFI = 0.991, SRMR = 0.025, RMSEA = 0.061 [IC90%: 0.000-0.111], AIC = 47.701) and adequate reliability (ω corrected = 0.90; IC95%: 0.88-0.92). Conclusion: Itis concluded that the CWS presents adequate psychometric properties, being a measure that providesvalid and reliable interpretations of the cáncer worry in the peruvian context. Objetivo: La preocupación por el cáncer está asociada con los comportamientos preventivos para la detección de esta enfermedad; sin embargo, no existe un instrumento con evidencias de validez y confiabilidad para medir este constructo en países latinoamericanos, entre ellos el Perú. Los objetivos de este estudio fueron evaluar la validez basada en la estructura interna y fiabilidad de la Cancer Worry Scale (CWS) en una muestra de personas sin diagnóstico oncológico con historia familiar de cáncer. Método: Se contó con la participación de 215 personas sanas con historia familiar de cáncer que acudían al servicio de consulta externa de dos instituciones públicas y privadas de salud de la ciudad de Chimbote con una edad promedio de 42,10 años (DT = 14,05). Para el recojo de información se utilizó una ficha sociodemográfica ad hoc y la Cancer Worry Scale. Resultados: El modelo unidimensional presentó un buen ajuste de los datos (SBχ2 (8) = 14,39; SB χ2 / df = 1,79; CFI = 0,991; SRMR = 0,025; RMSEA = 0,061 [IC90%: 0,000 -0,111]; AIC = 47,701) y una confiabilidad adecuada (ωcorregido = 0,90; IC95%: 0,88-0,92). Conclusión: Se concluye que la CWS presenta adecuadas propiedades psicométricas, siendo una medida que brinda interpretaciones válidas y fiables de la preocupación por el cáncer en el contexto peruano.
