Aim: To elucidate the common and different points between sarcopenia and frailty in chronic liver damage (CLD). Patients and Methods: Patients with both grip strength decline and skeletal muscle index decline were regarded as sarcopenia. Frailty was defined as a syndrome in which 3 or more of the following criteria were met: i) exhaustion, ii) body weight loss, iii) slow walking speed, iv) muscle weakness, and v) low physical activity. Results: Sarcopenia and frailty were identified in 52 patients (15.2%) and 46 (13.5%), respectively. The prevalence of sarcopenia and frailty was well stratified according to age and the liver cirrhosis (LC) status. In the multivariate analysis, we identified significant factors for sarcopenia: i) age, ii) LC, iii) body mass index and iv) extracellular water (ECW) to total body water (TBW) ratio, while only the ECW to TBW ratio was significant for frailty. Conclusion: Sarcopenia and frailty in CLD should be separately evaluated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This study focuses on the problem of constraint consensus of discrete‐time multi‐agent systems with high‐order heterogeneity. It is assumed that the agents are of different orders in such systems ranging from order 1 to l and the velocity of each agent is constrained to lie in a non‐convex set. This study proposes a distributed constraint control algorithm which guarantees the agents converge to a common point through the use of local information. Model transformations of the system matrix are performed in this study, so that the authors can utilise the properties of the stochastic matrix. Meanwhile, the boundness of state‐dependent stochastic matrices and the convexity of stochastic matrices are analysed and explored in detail. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the correctness of the results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With a highly uncertain and changing business environment, the typical way of planning a business is not particularly useful in different organizations worldwide. The current literature explores the concept of strategic Agility based on the idea of flexible planning and implementation and can pivot direction at the time of crises. Three main theories underpinning these concepts are contingency-based theory, resource-based theory, and Dynamic capability theory. These theories have one common point of view: enterprises' ability to cope with unexpected changes, survive unprecedented threats from the business environment, and take advantage of changes as opportunities. The literature has identified various variables that impact the adoption of strategic Agility in the organization, including strategic sensitivity, Resource fluidity, and Leadership unity. Some studies in the literature have found these variables as dimensions of strategic Agility. Further, the literature discussed how competitiveness could be achieved through strategic Agility at times of crisis, particularly in SMEs, which are highly prone to external problems due to limited resources and budgets.

For fresh fruits to be consumed and relished, they have to stimulate the senses of taste and smell as well as have good visual properties. In terms of the consumption of a fruit, its aroma, which constitutes the taste and odor elements, is of major importance. Therefore, the wish of consumers to eat fresh fruits is largely due to their rich aroma. The components of aroma that are found in fruits, in very low concentrations, such as ppm or ppb, can easily be perceived sensorially. Flavor, usually composed of volatile compounds, is an important criterion that enhances the appeal of fresh fruits. The aroma in fruits is composed of dozens of compounds in different concentrations. Many researchers have reported that the components of fruit aroma are caused by aldehydes, esters, alcohols, lactones, ketones, terpenoids, and other chemical compounds. The features that make these volatile compounds significant and unite them at a common point are that, even in trace amounts, they are perceived by the senses, and play an extremely effective role on the quality of the fruit. Aroma formation and development takes place in fresh fruits under highly dynamic processes. In this review, aroma biochemistry in fresh fruits and the factors affecting this dynamic process are discussed.

Vascular smooth muscle biology is increasingly exploited as an interventional target in vascular disease. Vascular smooth muscle Notch3–Rho kinase–cGMP interaction has been implicated in brain and peripheral arteriopathy in CADASIL. In the present commentary, we discuss the potential implications for other, more common non-atherosclerotic microvascular diseases: INOCA and HFpEF. The relation to mechanotransduction, to cellular senescence and to sGC activators as potential intervention agents are described.

Çalışmada muhasebe ve denetim alanında en fazla makalelerin yayınlandığı Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Accounting, Finance and Auditing Studies (JAFAS), Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Performance Evaluation İle Muhasebe ve Finansman (MUFAD), Muhasebe Bilim Dünyası (MÖDAV), Muhasebe ve Denetime Bakış ve Mali Çözüm dergilerinde denetim kalitesini konusunda yer alan toplam 30 makale değerlendirilmiştir.

CADASTRAL maps , *RESPONSE surfaces (Statistics) , *STANDARD deviations - Abstract
The cadastral maps that have been produced in Turkey to date are based on different coordinate systems, map scales, map sheets and measurement methods; however, a great number of these maps are not digital. Today, advances in information systems have made it necessary to digitize these data. For this purpose, the georeferencing technique is commonly used, in which coordinates are transformed between the scanned image and reference coordinate systems. This method is mostly preferred in engineering applications. The accuracy of georeferencing is affected by several factors related to mapping, digitizing and evaluation processes. Experimental designs are widely used to examine the effect of these factors on the response variable. The response surface methodology (RSM) methods are widely used for determining the optimum value of factors and the effects of factors on the response variable. The study was carried out while resolution of scanned maps (DPI), map scale (MS) and the common point number (CPN) are selected as factors and the standard deviation (SD) selected as response variable to determine the optimal factors for accurate georeferencing. To this end, the effect of and interactions between the DPI, MS and CPN were investigated, and their optimum values were obtained using the Box-Behnken method, one of the RSM methods. The optimum conditions for MS and CPN were determined as 1/1000 and 8, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PurposeThe purpose of this research is to identify and accumulate knowledge on the existing developments on project success measures. The authors aim to contribute to this debate by providing both researchers and project management professionals with reliable contemporary project success criteria that permit generalization for a proper assessment regardless of the type and context of the project.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 264 Brazilian project managers from a range of industries, sectors of activities and business areas with different levels of experience. Data analysis was performed using the R software package.FindingsIn this research, the authors propose a general performance measure of project success where different projects can grade differently using the same scale. The data analysis validated five constructs of the developed model in the Brazilian setting.Originality/valueMost of the actual project success measures used in project management literature have been tested in a specific industry or sector. Combinations of the type of project, industry, sector, project nature, stakeholders and other variables make each project unique. Thus, any effort to find a context-specific tool of measure will be an endless endeavor. To fill this gap, more general project success criteria need to be explored to offer a common point of comparison between projects. This is the motivation of the present study.

Abstract The aim of this article was to analyze, comparatively, praxeologies in didactic books and praxeologies carried out by the teacher, concerning the teaching of polynomial equations of the first degree. This study is done within the framework of the Anthropological Theory of Didactics (ATD), proposed by Yves Chevallard and his collaborators (1999, 2002, 2009, 2010). The methodology consists of a qualitative ethnographic approach, in which the mathematical and didactic organizations of three teachers were compared with those of their reference books. The results indicate that there is some conformity between the praxeologies to be taught, proposed by the authors of the textbooks, and the praxeologies effectively taught by the teachers in the classroom. Teachers are the organizers of tasks, techniques, and technology of increasing complexity (FONSECA, 2004) that are made routine or problematic in the classroom. The resolution of a first-degree polynomial equation of the type ax+b=c was the common point among the three teachers, although two of the three teachers also worked on equations of the type a 1 x+b 1 =a 2 x+b 2 . Keywords : Didactic books, Polynomial equations of the first degree, Anthropological theory of didactics.

In the article, the author discusses the results of research in modern biology, ethology and brain sciences that are related to phenomena observed in psychotherapy. From the proposed combination emerges a common search area for these various fields of knowledge, which is research on the affective and social life of people and other animals. Taking this into account, the author proposes that the theory of evolution may be the common point of reference and cooperation for these fields of knowledge. At the same time, he draws attention to the fact, that the psychodynamic approach, probably mainly the concept proposed by O.F. Kernberg and his team, most fully refers to the discussed phenomena.

In the making of a new home, immigrants have always wanted to settle with people that share similar religious beliefs, given that religion is the only common point that offers universality contrary to culture and other social factors that are subject to change in respect with the surrounding. Given the increase in the global population statistics of the Lutheran church, this article presented a case study of the lives and activities of immigrants of Lutheran origin in Kenya. Based on the existing literature, factors like the religiosity, culture and language of the host community will be analyzed. Moreover, the major finding of this study identifies that the separation between immigrants and locals is based on the fact that there is lack of a common language between the two parties. Emphasis was put on language as the biggest unifying factor. A realization of the factors that hinder integration of immigrants into the host society as explained in this article will aid in the formulation of new policies by the Lutheran church of Kenya and as well go a long way in resolving the existing barriers to immigrant integration

This paper outlines a statement of the truth issues in Jacques Lacan and Jacques Derrida, while it puts in the forefront the controversial points between both authors. It doesn’t constitute an exhaustive tracking of the conception of truth in their works; instead of that, it makes a survey of the axes according to which this theme is placed in each one and the variations operated throughout its productions. Deconstruction and psychoanalysis are closer to what these two great authors are willing to admit. The article concludes, then, trying to situate the irreconcilable points of both perspectives, as well as what could constitute a common point in the approach to the problematic of truth. Problems of nonsmooth nonconvex dynamic optimization, optimal control (in discrete time), including feedback control, and machine learning are considered from a common point of view. An analogy between controlling discrete dynamical systems and multilayer neural network learning problems with nonsmooth objective functionals and connections is traced. Methods for computing generalized gradients for such systems based on the Hamilton–Pontryagin functions are developed. Gradient (stochastic) algorithms for optimal control and learning are extended to nonconvex nonsmooth dynamic systems.

Although there have been lots of debates about the reason of downfall of the great Roman general Antony, there is exactly one forefront reason in his destruction, it is Cleopatra herself. Her subversive power over Antony together with her manipulative and seductive power leads to the gradual breakdown of the male protagonist Antony and his destruction at the end. Thus, to understand the full aspect of his downfall as one of the triumvirs of the great Roman Empire, we have to know exactly, who Cleopatra is and what role her characteristics played in Antony’s downfall as a woman. Shakespeare’s Cleopatra even today regarded by some as the source of beauty and by some as the source of manipulation but the common point for most people; it would not be possible to describe her within the limited definitions of woman in patriarchal society and one would need more than these, at least, for Cleopatra. Regarding the different approaches and criticisms about the downfall of the protagonist Antony, my aim in this article is to show how Cleopatra as an outstanding female model in ancient ages led to the downfall of the male protagonist of Shakespeare’s play the great Roman general Antony by using her special feminine characteristics such as her beauty, her tempting words and speeches and also her seductive wiles against patriarchal assumptions that leads her to being condemned as a femme fatale. In this perspective, in the play of Shakespeare Cleopatra’s character is worth being analyzed whether she plays a submissive or a subversive role in the collapse of Antony.

Among a big number of forms of relations, which the collaboration of a minimum of two entities may be based on, it is important in the context of the science and business environment to find a reference point connecting these entities. If it is necessary to integrate two sectors, this process is complex. The solution to this problem is to find a common point of reference. On the example of strengthening the ties between business and science sectors, the merging function is adopted by selected smart specializations in the European, national and regional areas. This article uses the example of Zielona Góra, analysing the smart specializations of the Lubuskie voivodship and the research group specifying entrepreneurs and scientists performing their activities in this city the potential of permanent relationship was assessed, which may become the basis for identifying barriers and opportunities in the context of building a lasting relationship.

Robots that have different forms and capabilities are used in a wide variety of situations; however, one common point to all robots interacting with humans is their ability to communicate with them. In addition to verbal communication or purely communicative movements, robots can also use their embodiment to generate expressive movements while achieving a task, to convey additional information to its human partner. This article surveys state-of-the-art techniques that generate whole-body expressive movements in robots and robot avatars. We consider different embodiments such as wheeled, legged, or flying systems and the different metrics used to evaluate the generated movements. Finally, we discuss future areas of improvement and the difficulties to overcome to develop truly expressive motions in artificial agents.

An outbreak investigation was initiated in September 2019, following a notification to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) of an unusually high number of dogs with acute haemorrhagic diarrhoea (AHD) in Oslo. Diagnostic testing by reporting veterinarians had not detected a cause. The official investigation sought to identify a possible common cause, the extent of the outbreak and prevent spread. Epidemiological data were collected through a survey to veterinarians and interviews with dog owners. Diagnostic investigations included necropsies and microbiological, parasitological and toxicological analysis of faecal samples and food. In total, 511 dogs with acute haemorrhagic diarrhoea were registered between 1 August and 1 October. Results indicated a common point source for affected dogs, but were inconclusive with regard to common exposures. A notable finding was that 134 of 325 faecal samples (41%) cultured positive for Providencia alcalifaciens. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) of 75 P. alcalifaciens isolates from 73 dogs revealed that strains from 51 dogs belonged to the same WGS clone. Findings point to P. alcalifaciens as implicated in the outbreak, but investigations are needed to reveal the pathogenic potential of P. alcalifaciens in dogs and its epidemiology.

Abstract This article discusses the People's Defense Committee (CDP), organized in the city of Chihuahua (Mexico) in 1972. The Committee, we argue here, emerged as the result of a convergence process of social struggles taking place separately through the 1960s. Such convergence occurred, first, due to the action of a political-military group and the repression that followed; and second, due to the networks of relationships that had been emerged among those involved in the various social struggles. For this reason, this article describes the path of the armed groups and the student, urban popular and union movements in Chihuahua: the CDP was a common point of arrival. The subsequent social protest was qualitatively different because of the strength gained by unified and concerted actions.

Engineering practice has a high impact on contemporary society. The international scientific publication recognizes a broad consensus on the need to incorporate ethical education in engineering courses as essential. It is also noted that the way to incorporate and promote it, as well as the skills to be acquired, is not consensual, this being an area with a research deficit, especially on the skills to be acquired. In view of this, the present study aims to investigate what ethics skills are required for engineering graduates in the face of the challenges of the future. To this end, it was considered necessary to identify which ethical competences are necessary for engineering graduates recognized in scientific research in the area. The competences identified have the common point of helping to face and find ethical and responsible solutions to the challenge of sustainability. But there is also a strong focus on promoting professional and ethical responsibility, understanding the role of engineering in society and raising awareness of the negative consequences of technology.

Organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) are often manufactured and studied where the common point of interest is the characteristic current-voltage curve. Apart from the usual electron-hole recombination, inadvertently introduced, or not, “external" ions can induce unexpected effects. Among them are the "primary processes”, where the first forward bias scan is systematically very different from all subsequent ones. This curve shows two current “bumps” that disappear on all subsequent scans. The first bump is already explained in terms of ionic currents. This paper describes a different model in terms of the Cabrera-Mott oxidation process.

This study focuses on a constrained consensus problem of heterogeneous linear multi-agent systems with nonconvex input constraints and switching graphs. A distributed control algorithm with the time-varying gain is presented to ensure the control input of each agent to stay in a nonconvex set and make all agents reach to a common point. Through the method of nonnegative matrices, we obtain the sufficient conditions for the consensus of the system. It is shown that all agents can reach a consensus as long as the union of communication graphs contains spanning trees. Finally, simulations are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Dendrimers are synthetic polymers that grow in three dimensions into well-defined structures. Their morphological appearance resembles a number of trees connected by a common point. Dendritic nanoparticles have been studied for a large number of pharmaceutical and biomedical applications including gene and drug delivery, clinical diagnosis and MRI. Despite the application of dendrimers, research is still in its childhood in comparison with liposomes and other nanomaterials. They are now playing a key role in several therapeutic strategies, with dendrimer-based products in clinical trials. The aim of this review is to describe the state-of-the-art of biomedical applications of dendrimers – and dendrimer conjugates – such as drug and gene delivery and antiviral activity.
