This paper introduces the ExaPRR Framework, which is capable of managing and controlling dynamic and interactive events in addition to activities related to distributed Published Resources Repository, managing and controlling dynamic and interactive events of the said resource discovery (RD) by redefining the concept of request and response based on wave model. For this purpose, while analyzing the function of the Distributed Published Resource Repository RD and defining the concept of the next element participating in the global activity in this RD, it redefines the concept of request in the Distributed Exascale systems. This framework uses the concept of revising the state of implementation of dynamic and interactive events in the system and redefining the concept of request at every moment of the process of implementation of resource discovery activities based on system status, demanding requests, and dynamic and interactive event, manages the resource's discovery activities. The purpose of the research is to study the effectiveness of the methodological approach based on the use of podcasts in the study of Russian as a foreign language. The study involved 110 students studying Russian randomly selected from a representative sample. They were asked to listen and watch podcasts in and out of class twice a week for 4.5 months. At the end of the study a control test showed that the students' language proficiency had increased, their grammar, writing, listening, pronunciation, and speaking skills had significantly improved. A pre- and post-test was conducted in the form of an examination with the participation of teachers, and the results were compared with a Student's t-test to determine if there were statistically significant differences in academic achievement. After the pre-test, students received a podcast training intervention based on the author's method. The results obtained demonstrated a statistically significant increase in the qualification level of the Russian language of the participants. An unstructured follow-up survey was also conducted regarding student assessment of classes using podcasts. A variety of assessments and explanations of the results obtained were obtained, which can be used in pedagogical practice. It was found that podcasts teach students to work on their own speech, helping to overcome the language barrier and increasing motivation to learn Russian as a foreign language. Thus, the introduction of podcasts in the study of the Russian language can solve such methodological problems: the formation of the ability to understand foreign speech by ear, improving pronunciation, expanding vocabulary, fostering the grammatical skills. The analysis of the experience in using learning platforms for the education of future specialists in different countries of the world is relevant for understanding and explaining the positive and negative aspects of learning platforms implementation in the process of professional training of future teachers in Ukraine. In the article, we analyzed the experience of foreign countries (USA, Latvia, UK, Turkey, Colombia, Netherlands) in using learning platforms for the training of future mathematics teachers. Content analysis of Internet resources; analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematisation and generalisation of research results, reflected in the publications of foreign researchers as for the implementation of learning platforms in the training of future mathematics teachers. We highlighted the following key positions of the researchers in foreign studies: teachers' ignoring learning platforms, on the one hand, demonstrates their desire to maintain monopoly control over students' learning and their distrust of students' independent learning. On the other hand, it may demonstrate teachers' inability to use learning platforms efficiently. It's worth noting, that learning platforms can open up a wide range of opportunities for mathematics teachers to improve the effectiveness of teaching mathematics students. At the same time teachers do not feel well prepared to use digital technologies in conducting lessons. Special training for the efficient implementation of digital technologies by teachers in the education process has to be formed during the education in the university for the teachers not to lose time for this aspect during their professional activity. There is the increasing integration of digital technologies into the process of professional training of future teachers. Combining foreign experience in the implementation of learning platforms for the training of future specialists with the scientific potential of Ukrainian researchers is one of the ways to overcome the current problems of distance/blended learning and further introduction of innovative technologies into the Ukrainian education system. The paper presents the results of a quasi-experimental study which was conducted with a view to determining the effect of an intervention in the form of the application of teacher-designed Internet-based resources (i.e., websites, podcasts, movie clips) that students could use autonomously on the development of pronunciation of the English regular past tense -ed ending. The sample consisted of 45 Polish secondary school learners. Participants were divided into three groups, two treatment and one control. The intervention spanned two weeks. The lessons in treatment group 1 were conducted by means of online resources and those in treatment group 2 were carried out in a traditional way (i.e., without autonomous recourse to computer-assisted pronunciation teaching). The students in the control group did not receive any instruction related to the pronunciation feature in question over that time. The data were gathered by means of perception and production tests administered before (pretest) and after (immediate and delayed posttests) the treatment, and subjected to quantitative analysis. The results, supported by the participants' evaluation of the two types of pedagogic intervention, indicate that although the effects of the experimental treatments proved to be comparable, the use of online resources produced more durable gains and was more favorably evaluated by learners. This provides a rationale for using computer technology as a tool for enhancing traditional teaching of English pronunciation in secondary school. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The generation of characteristic values for the stability of the control system is the main focus of this paper. For the generation of these values, a system for evaluating the state of the parameters of the control system must be incorporated, in the context of the work of certain devices in the control system based on the management of the computer system. The focus of the analysis of system parameters, simulation and parameter change is based on the use of the Matlab application. The purpose of this paper is to incorporate applications that can be included in the management process, obtaining results, and adequately reflecting the obtained values, graphs and finding the corresponding concrete structure to see the flow of a process as closely as possible. The goal of the paper is the computer system management through the application, specifically the use of Matlab. The paper will also deal with the collection and systematization of data in a database- application, which is connected to applications such as Matlab, to save and to create connections with other platforms in the framework of production and service; such is the internet platform and the deployment of a web browser that gives a more generalized direction in terms of use, service and management of resources at different distances - locations that have direct access through web technologies or other computer network resources. Through the Matlab application, the state of the system can be analyzed by changing the program parameters, which creates a certain view of the state, looking at the view of the graphs-curves, of the device until its activation. Therefore, all this includes the way of integrated management of some systems and applications to create a more optimized effectiveness of the technological process [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The increased penetration of mobile devices has a significant impact on customers’ online shopping behavior, with customers frequently switching between mobile and fixed devices on the path to purchase. By accounting for the attributes of the devices and the perceived risks related to each product category, the authors develop hypotheses regarding the relationship between device switching and conversion rates. They test the hypotheses by analyzing clickstream data from a large online retailer and apply propensity score matching to account for self-selection in device switching. They find that when customers switch from a more mobile device, such as a smartphone, to a less mobile device, such as a desktop, their conversion rate is significantly higher. This effect is larger when product category–related perceived risk is higher, when the product price is higher, and when the customer’s experience with the product category and the online retailer is lower. The findings illustrate the importance of focusing on conversions across the combination of devices used by customers on their path to purchase. Focusing on the conversions on a single device in isolation, as is usually done in practice, significantly overestimates conversions attributed to fixed devices at the expense of those attributed to mobile devices. In this paper, we model a fully covered duopoly market in which two firms offer a differentiated information product that exhibits positive network effects and a complementary premium service to consumers. For each firm, there are two marketing strategies: the freemium strategy and the bundling strategy. We find that, under the market equilibrium, a firms' decision whether to employ the freemium strategy or not depends largely on the quality of the information product compared to its rival. When the information product quality is similar and the products' intrinsic values are sufficiently large, both firms will be better off by adopting the freemium strategy, while the bundling strategy will prevail if the products' intrinsic values are sufficiently small. Additionally, when the magnitude of complementary effects or network effects exceeds a given threshold, both firms' profit can be enhanced by an increase in the degree of product complementarity or in the intensity of network effects. We also demonstrate that a firm can benefit from an increasing market size only if the intrinsic value of its information product is sufficiently large. Finally, we extend our model to the uncovered market and derive the equilibrium prices and profits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The amount of digital text available for analysis by consumer researchers has risen dramatically. Consumer discussions on the internet, product reviews, and digital archives of news articles and press releases are just a few potential sources for insights about consumer attitudes, interaction, and culture. Drawing from linguistic theory and methods, this article presents an overview of automated text analysis, providing integration of linguistic theory with constructs commonly used in consumer research, guidance for choosing amongst methods, and advice for resolving sampling and statistical issues unique to text analysis. We argue that although automated text analysis cannot be used to study all phenomena, it is a useful tool for examining patterns in text that neither researchers nor consumers can detect unaided. Text analysis can be used to examine psychological and sociological constructs in consumer-produced digital text by enabling discovery or by providing ecological validity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Libraries, archives, and museums (LAM) have existed since Antiquity in many different sizes and forms, and these institutions are not always easy to define and to separate from each other. Since the turn of the millennium, LAM has frequently been used as an acronym for these institutions, indicating an increasing interest to consider them together, partly motivated by a perceived ongoing convergence between them. This article describes and discusses this issue from ancient times to the present with the focus on convergence and conceptual issues, with emphasis on the practices, debates, and research over the two last decades. Distribution of documents via the Internet has been a catalyst for renewed interest in the relations between the LAMs, where increased use of digital resources is claimed to blur the traditional borders between the institutions (labelled "digital convergence"). In the first decade after the millennium, the research agenda was marked by a limited focus on digital point of access portals for cultural heritage. Thereafter, the research agenda broadened. In addition to digital convergence, other kinds of convergence are a nascent topic for research, focusing on physical mergers, collaboration, shared professional practice, proximity in government agencies and an increasing dependency on common external trends, etc. LAM has also increasingly been the name for new educational programs and university departments, thus pointing towards LAM as a concept used about an emerging discipline or interdisciplinary field. There have formerly been attempts to construe a research field, which include these three kinds of institutions, and the notion LAM is more extended term than the study of these institutions, because each of them has developed research fields with a broader focus. BLENDED learning ,COMPUTER network resources ,INTERNET ,COMPUTER software ,VIDEOS - Abstract
Currently, blended learning is becoming a promising form of higher education organization. This implies an increase in the volume of author's electronic educational and methodological content used in the educational process, for the creation of which teachers use software hosted on websites and third-party digital materials: presentations, texts, drawings and video materials. In this regard, the article discusses free and open licenses as the legal basis for using the resources of the global Internet in the educational process. To determine the degree of teachers' awareness an anonymous survey was conducted. The survey included 76 teachers of all age groups; most of them have more than 5 years of university work experience. The results revealed that more than half of the teachers believe that any software and all third-party digital materials posted on the global Internet have open access and can be freely used, modified and distributed. The novelty of the study is determined by the fact that the awareness of teachers in this area is being investigated. The practical significance is determined by the fact that the legitimate use of software and thirdparty digital materials posted on the Internet can improve the quality of author's electronic educational and methodological content. LibGuides is a popular web platform to thematically curate and promote information sources. While guides bridge curricular and research objectives to library collections, there is little discussion about Indigenizing content and design as a decolonization strategy. The study identified and evaluated 357 guides for Indigenous Studies (IS) created by members of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). Data compiled from Springshare’s LibGuides Community and ARL member webpages was analyzed for Indigenous representation, content, and user experience (UX) against a rubric of Indigenous critical pedagogical practices and protocols. The findings reveal variety in vocabulary terms to describe Indigenous peoples and subjects, organization, and topics and foci, as well as a lack of interdisciplinarity. The discussion highlights opportunities for libraries to reimagine guides as Indigenized and decolonized information sources that validate Indigenous ways of knowing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
A former U.S. senator joins a legal scholar to examine a hushed effort to radically change our Constitution, offering a warning and a way forward.Over the last two decades, a fringe plan to call a convention under the Constitution's amendment mechanism—the nation's first ever—has inched through statehouses. Delegates, like those in Philadelphia two centuries ago, would exercise nearly unlimited authority to draft changes to our fundamental law, potentially altering anything from voting and free speech rights to regulatory and foreign policy powers. Such a watershed moment would present great danger, and for some, great power. In this important book, Feingold and Prindiville distill extensive legal and historical research and examine the grave risks inherent in this effort. But they also consider the role of constitutional amendment in modern life. Though many focus solely on judicial and electoral avenues for change, such an approach is at odds with a cornerstone ideal of the Founding: that the People make constitutional law, directly. In an era defined by faction and rejection of long-held norms, The Constitution in Jeopardy examines the nature of constitutional change and asks urgent questions about what American democracy is, and should be.

As awareness of global warming and ecological deterioration increases, the phenomenon of "eco-anxiety," which is a result of the negative effects of ecological crises on human mental health, has begun to take more place in our lives. Ecological problems disproportionately affect children, who are more susceptible to the economic, social, and health problems caused by the environmental crisis. For this reason, environmental educators, who have an active role in coping with eco-anxiety, need to know this phenomenon better. At the same time, research in the field of education on eco-anxiety is very important as it will reveal the points to be considered and the steps to be taken in the environmental education processes. This study aims to present a simple and understandable roadmap to those who want to research the concept of eco-anxiety, which is still very new but still popular. In this direction, books, scientific publications, and internet resources dealing with the concept of eco-anxiety were analyzed, and the findings were presented using visual and scientific mapping methods. The Internet-based crowdinvesting market in Europe has developed significantly since its start in 2007 and has become an alternative source of finance for entrepreneurs to sell securities through the Internet to small investors. This market evidences a great variety in platform design and contract forms used by crowdinvesting platforms. By analyzing more detailed, hand-collected data on the complete set of successful and unsuccessful crowdinvesting campaigns run in Germany, this article tests whether different platform and contractual mechanisms affect crowd participation. The results show that crowd participation is largest when the minimum ticket size is small, the crowd is pooled in a financial vehicle, and the crowd is offered investments in the form of profit-participating loans. Moreover, the very same mechanisms increase the chances of achieving successful campaigns and raising a larger amount. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Collaborating with investor networks generated in the course of equity-based crowdfunding campaigns can contribute to the success of startup firms. Through a qualitative study of 60 European startups, this article identifies the type of inputs provided by equity investors, how these inputs are related to startups’ and founders’ characteristics, and startups’ later performance. Startups exploiting crowd network are more likely to be successful two years later compared with startups that do not exploit the crowd, or acquire from the crowd product, strategy, or market knowledge. The findings extend existing research on the relationships between open innovation and startups by identifying the inputs provided by the crowd and how the use of crowd equity investors in open innovation platforms is related to later success. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the acceptability, feasibility, and preliminary efficacy of using an online educational resource that presents research-informed strategies for women's pleasure, OMGyes.com, as a resource to empower women to broaden the ways in which they understand, advocate for, and enjoy sexual pleasure. A cohort of 870 adult women was given access to OMGyes.com and asked to explore the resource over a four-week period and complete online pre/post questionnaires. Participants reported a high level of satisfaction with the relatability, usefulness, and functionality of OMGyes.com. We observed statistically significant, large effect size increases in participants' knowledge about their own pleasure preferences, their confidence and positivity about that knowledge, as well as how pleasurable their sexual experiences were during both masturbation and partner sex. Many participants reported that after using OMGyes.com they felt more motivated to explore their preferences and more confident to explain their preferences to their partners. Our data suggest that OMGyes.com may be useful for positively impacting how women think about sexual pleasure, how they understand their own specific preferences, how they advocate for what they enjoy with partners, and how they actually experience pleasure. Recently, an innovative trend like cloud computing has progressed quickly in InformationTechnology. For a background of distributed networks, the extensive sprawl of internet resources on the Web and the increasing number of service providers helped cloud computing technologies grow into a substantial scaled Information Technology service model. The cloud computing environment extracts the execution details of services and systems from end-users and developers. Additionally, through the system's virtualization accomplished using resource pooling, cloud computing resources become more accessible. The attempt to design and develop a solution that assures reliable and protected authentication and authorization service in such cloud environments is described in this paper. With the help of multi-agents, we attempt to represent Open-Identity (ID) design to find a solution that would offer trustworthy and secured authentication and authorization services to software services based on the cloud. This research aims to determine how authentication and authorization services were provided in an agreeable and preventive manner. Based on attack-oriented threat model security, the evaluation works. By considering security for both authentication and authorization systems, possible security threats are analyzed by the proposed security systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract

Civil society's inability to hold powerful businesses accountable in authoritarian regimes is a grand challenge in today's global environment. We propose that the development of Internet activism provides a novel mechanism to pressure for corporate response in those societies. Internet activism is dispersed, fast moving, and interactive, and hence can effectively focus public attention and potentially undermine a company's public image by generating social comparison. In addition, firms with public image vulnerability may experience magnified pressure from Internet activism, as well as more intense social comparison. We explore this framework in the setting of corporate donations made in the wake of the 2008 earthquake in the Sichuan Province of China, which triggered Internet activism that challenged corporations to contribute to the good of the community. Analysis based on 613 large publicly listed Chinese firms supports our framework. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reports on findings from a study which investigates our digital identities. Through examination of the process of constructing biographical films derived from users’ social media (SM) data, we progress understanding of the digital self. Building on dramaturgical understandings of performance of self, we challenge the dominant views which argue that SM users operating as their ‘authentic selves’ can be empowered by having the potential for contemporaneous multiple selves. Through the introduction of the concepts of SM leakage and multiple temporal selves, we note the challenge of living with these digital self-representations which are sustained over time. We propose strategies for dealing with temporal shifts, as well as dispensing with the notion of the separation of these selves. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Research on competitive pressure plays an important part in understanding a firm’s behaviour in its changing environment. This paper provides an empirical contribution to the knowledge of the relationship between competitive pressure and internal information integration in this area by focusing on manufacturer internal information integration. The findings show that the degree of manufacturer internal information can be explained by the competitive strength of the largest firm in the industry. From a management perspective, the results indicate the need to regard the competitive landscape as an additional lever of manufacturer internal information sharing. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Modern logistics takes significant progress and rapid developments with the prosperity of E-commerce, particularly in China. Typical challenges that logistics industry is facing now are composed by a lack of sharing, standard, cost-effective and environmental package and efficient optimisation method for logistics tasks distribution. As a result, it is difficult to implement green, sustainable logistics services. Three important technologies, Physical Internet (PI), product–service system (PSS) and cloud computing (CC), are adopted and developed to address the above issues. PI is extended to design a world-standard green recyclable smart box that is used to encapsulate goods. Smart box-enabled PSS is constructed to provide an innovative sustainable green logistics service, and high-quality packaging, as well as reduce logistics cost and environmental pollution. A real-time information-driven logistics tasks optimisation method is constructed by designing a cloud logistics platform based on CC. On this platform, a hierarchical tree-structure network for customer orders (COs) is built up to achieve the order-box matching of function. Then, a distance clustering analysis algorithm is presented to group and form the optimal clustering results for all COs, and a real-time information-driven optimisation method for logistics orders is proposed to minimise the unused volume of containers. Finally, a case study is simulated to demonstrate the efficiency and feasibility of proposed cloud logistics optimisation method. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

The Internet has drastically changed how society seeks and consumes information. One influential change in the communication process is the widespread use-and perhaps abuse-of user-generated content. If provided a frame of reference to help direct the discussion, such as a news story, comment functions can act as a proxy "town hall" in a virtual setting. Unique to this cyber town hall, however, is the sense of anonymity that leads some users to post content they would not normally voice in a public context. This investigation intertwines uses-and-gratifications theory and online disinhibition effect by analyzing anonymous-comment postings on a newspaper Web site. Seven newspaper stories on the campus master plan and football-stadium proposal at Old Dominion University demonstrate the sociological underpinnings where sports, education, economics, and politics intersect in an anonymous forum where users can relay their opinion on the subject while remaining invisible and unidentified. Objective: The technique of local anesthetic administration is an important consideration in the behavior guidance of a pediatric patient. The study hypothesized that there is no difference in the pain effectiveness in the experimental subjects with the use of single tooth anesthesia and the controls with the use of conventional technique (traditional inferior alveolar nerve block [IANB]).The purpose of this study was to compare the anesthesia effectiveness of traditional IANB; IANB using a computer-controlled local anesthetic delivery system (CCLAD); and intraligamental anesthesia (ILA) using CCLAD in pulpotomy of the primary mandibular second molars. Method and Materials: Ninety-one healthy 5- to 9-year-old children underwent pulpotomy of the mandibular second molars. They were randomly assigned into Group A (traditional IANB), Group B (IANB using CCLAD), or Group C (ILA injection using CCLAD). The effectiveness of anesthesia was measured during different steps of pulpotomy using the sounds, eyes, and motor (SEM) scale. The postoperative complications were recorded after 24 hours. Results: For all five pulpotomy steps, the anesthesia effectiveness was similar among the three anesthesia techniques. Anesthesia effectiveness was not significantly different (based on SEM scores) between the three groups during clamp application, drilling of the tooth, entering the pulp, pulp extirpation, and removal of the clamp (P = .635, P=. 996, P = .630, P = .945, and P = .101, respectively). There was no significant difference in postoperative complications between the three groups. Conclusion: The IANB anesthesia using CCLAD and periodontal ligament anesthesia using CCLAD were as effective as traditional IANB in anesthetizing the primary mandibular molars during pulpotomy. This case study research is conducted to measure the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the heavy engineering industry and compare it with world class standards. The primary and secondary data were needed for the study. Primary data was collected from the production line of case industry and secondary data was obtained from maintenance department of the company (previous six months' data) and the internet resources. The data included planned and unplanned downtime, number of shifts, shift lengths, plant operating times, actual operating time, rework and repairs which were necessary for computation of OEE metrics. Moreover, the data on time between failures and time of repairs was also collected from maintenance department of the company. The data was analyzed in MS excel and Minitab. Availability, performance, quality and overall OEE were calculated as 77.50%, 58.94, 97.42% and 44.5% respectively. Whereas, world class standards are availability (90%), performance (95%), quality (99.90%) and overall OEE (85%). To perform like world class manufacturing systems is far bigger challenge than just running it. This paper provides the guidance for calculating OEE and its comparison with world class standards. Further research can be conducted with OEE and other lean tools in the case industry and other industries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
