The wood furniture industry plays a predominant role in the Mexican economy. This research takes as its axis to analyze the competitiveness factors of wooden furniture manufacturing SMEs based on market orientation (MO) and business orientation (EO) strategies that influence consumers' perception and purchase preference in Mexico. Are the wooden furniture manufacturing SMEs aligned with competitive strategies? Do companies in this sector implement MO-EO-oriented strategies? The study showed that Mexican consumers generally recognize the wood furniture industry in Mexico, assign it an authenticity value, and associate it with a positive image. When customers perceive that the company is committed to creating superior value for the customer through the MO and EO, they show loyalty and purchase preference behaviours.

Family business firms (FBFs) constantly struggle with the challenge of successfully reaching and surviving beyond the third generation. Narrative or storytelling is frequently used in business to transmit knowledge, achieve goals, create and maintain a connection with stakeholders, and achieve sustained growth. Most FBFs consciously or unconsciously use narrative and possess their own discourse, which is unique to every family and family business and which may aid FBFs in achieving continuity. FBFs must have an adequate atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation so that group members can transform acquired tacit knowledge through storytelling into explicit action. FBFs should be prepared to help collaborators and other stakeholders build competencies since tacit knowledge transfer, through narrative, can aid in the solving of problems, enhance innovativeness, and improve strategic decision-making. Therefore, narrative may well aid FBFs in fulfilling their ultimate goal of continuity. The purpose of this chapter is to evaluate the potential influence of narrative on FBFs’ continuity and prevention of their precipitous expiration. This chapter contributes to previous literature that sheds light on the narrative implications of FBFs, and depicts FBFs’ narratives and the dynamics of their business objectives, as well as touches on the heterogeneous nature of each family business’ storyline. There are various advantages to FBFs’ storytelling; perhaps the most noteworthy is the achievement of sustained business growth and continuity.

Company decision making tends to center on Millennials, particularly because they represent a significantly large market with many behavioral characteristics and patterns that elude organizational leaders. Family business scholars have not yet delved into this contemporary phenomenon, which is relevant due to shared similarities between millennials and family businesses' values/beliefs. That said, are family business firm (FBF) branding efforts influencing Millennial consumers' behavior? If so, what FBF branding attributes drive Millennial purchase decision-making? This chapter provides insights on FBF branding, with a global presence, and the attributes driving millennials to patronize these firms, and includes quantitative and qualitative analysis and discussion on a conceptual model.

Family business firms (FBFs) tend to be de facto considered socially responsible as if being owned managed by a family warrants social responsibility. Are FBFs socially responsible because of the family ownership-management or a family sense of responsibility? The aim of this research is to understand the traits of FBFs' CSR engagement. It is suggested that corporate family responsibility (CFR) is inherent to family business firms with an inclusive perspective. This paper contributes to previous family business and social responsibility literature by providing concepts and a model that may further the discussion on family business social responsibility, competitive advantage and sustainable growth.
