This chapter examines the emotional experience of teachers who are designing courses for digital learning environments. Recommendations for gaining confidence and coping with the emotional stress of rethinking a course for online learning are addressed.

The author evaluates television home shopping programs to examine how social class issues are used to sell products; the identification of financial limitations, anxiety of social standing, and promises of status mobility through consumption are used by home shopping programs. These findings support research on social-order maintenance theories; material consumption is used as a tool to dispel class conflict among the haves and have nots.

Community structure theory was used to examine whether variations in national demographic characteristics could be linked to differences in cross-national coverage of transit migration into northern and western Europe across the Mediterranean and the Balkan Peninsula. Sampling newspapers in 16 countries yielded 238 articles coded for "government responsibility," "societal responsibility," or "balanced/neutral" coverage. A majority of papers reflected societal responsibility for transit migration. Pearson correlations and regression analysis confirmed three significant indicators, two associated with coverage emphasizing government responsibility for transit migration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
