Blunt carotid artery injury is a relatively rare but potentially lethal injury that predominantly occurs in high-impact mechanisms such as motor-vehicle collision. Any simptoms or neurological deficits following a multiple trauma patient mandates a thorough evaluation and consideration of BCI. This is a case report on two young patients with neurologic simptoms developed after blunt trauma in the cervical region. Both patients had left internal carotid artery dissection diagnosed on a CT-angiography, followed by middle cerebral artery territory infarction. Although it can be a delayed onset with no signs of vascular demage, we believe that, by implementing a protocol with additional imaging for early detection, we can prevent a devastating outcome.

The symptomatic choroidal metastasis is a rare manifestation of lung cancer. The aim of this study was to present a clinical case of choroidal metastasis associated with multiple intracerebral metastases from a papillary adenocarcinoma of the lung diagnosed simultaneously with its metastases. We present the case of a 40-year-old male patient, smoker, admitted to the Neurosurgery Clinic II, "Prof. Dr. Nicolae Oblu" Emergency Hospital, Iassy, Romania, for right hemiparesis, headache, right visual loss, dysphonia and swallowing disorders occurring six days earlier. Previous medical history showed that he was diagnosed with a stage IV cancer located in the lower lobe of the left lung a week before. Ophthalmoscopic examination of the right eye revealed total secondary serous retinal detachment. Contrast cranial-cerebral computed tomography (CT) scan revealed multiple lesions compatible with the diagnosis of supratentorial intracerebral metastases in the left hemisphere, as well as an intraocular choroidal metastasis. The rolandic brain tumor was surgically removed and the cyto- and histopathological exam established the diagnosis of an intracerebral metastasis from a papillary adenocarcinoma of the lung. After a week, the patient was referred to an oncology unit for the initiation of oncology and palliative care. We emphasize the importance of an ophthalmological screening of patients with intracerebral metastases in order to eventually identify a choroidal metastasis, as the recognition and early treatment of this entity could improve the quality of patient's life.

to describe two cases of familial papillary thyroid carcinoma.patients were investigated by fine needle biopsy, MRI imaging and tumor biopsy, (first case) and histological examination of colonic and thyroid tumors (first case) and histological examination of thyroid tumor (second case).case presentation: first case, 68 years old man had a colonic polyposis (attenuated form with only a few polyps) and a thyroid nodule. After hemicoleCtomy for a supposed colonic carcinoma with liver and lung metastases, histological examination revealed no malignant colonic disease. Two month later the diagnosis of invasive thyroid tumor with lymph node metastases was made, but only an open biopsy was done because tumor invasiveness demonstrated on MTI imaging. The biopsy identified a papillary thyroid carcinoma. Case 2: the son of the patient (30 years old) without known diseases was invited to be assessed for thyroid disease. Ultrasound examination discovered a large nodule with microcalcifications. Microscopic examination done after total thyroidectomy revealed a cribriform morular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma, a variant that is known to be associated with FAP. Radioiodine ablation was made followed by suppressive thyroxine treatment. In the second case adenomatous polyposis was not found yet. In our knowledge these are the first cases of familial thyroid papillary carcinomas in our setting. Familial history allowed an earlier diagnosis and a good management of the disease in the second case.according to the literature and our first experience, screening for thyroid cancer must be done in all patients with FAP and in those with a FAP proband in the family.

Anatomical abnormalities of the liver are extremely rare. We report a case of a 32 year old female who has admitted with acute epigastric pain and vomiting. Physical exam revealed a mobile mass in right middle abdominal quadrant. Ultrasound and contrast--enhanced CT demonstrated a heterogeneous vascular left mass. Small bowel enema shows left jejunal loops displacement. Surgical findings: twisted, congested swelling, attached by a long pedicle to the liver's third segment. Histological examination showed recent hepatic infarction.
