This study was carried out to determine the effect of wheat bran as added to canola silage on the fermentation and in vitro organic matter digestibility. Canola was harvested and ensiled with 5% and 10% wheat bran in glass silos. With each treatment three parallel investigations were performed. Chemical, microbiological analyses and in vitro cellulase method were conducted on the silage which was opened on the 60th day of storage. According to the analysis of the control, 5% and 10% wheat bran treatments, crude protein reached 14.31%, 14.71% and 15.66%; ammonia-nitrogen reached 91.53, 85.43 and 85.34 g/kg TN; metabolisable energy reached 7.94, 8.27 and 8.51 MJ/kg KM; while organic matter digestibility was 61.45%, 63.93% and 62.92%, respectively. El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar los contenidos de aminoácidos y fibra de alberja o chícharo de campo (Pisum arvense L.), trébol persa o de juncal (Trofolium resupinatum var. Typicum Fiori et Paol.), trébol cabeza de búho (T. alpestre L.) y trébol de montaña (T. montanum L.) en etapa de florecimiento completo. La investigación se realizó durante 2005-2006 en el Departamento de Cultivos de Campo de la Facultad de Agropecuaria de la Universidad Namik Kemal, Turquía. Los tréboles cabeza de búho y de montaña se recolectaron de los pastizales (43.0 °N, 26.0 °E) de la villa de Belovetz, Bulgaria. El trébol persa (línea Y) y el chícharo de campo (línea Z) se obtuvieron del Departamento de Cultivos de Campo, de la Facultad de Agropecuaria, Universidad Namik Kemal en Tekirdag, Turquía. Todas las muestras se analizaron en triplicado. El diseño experimental fue de bloque completamente al azar con tres réplicas. Se determinaron los contenidos de aminoácidos (g kg-1), la proteína bruta (g kg-1), la fibra ácido detergente (%) y la fibra neutro detergente (%). Se encontró que el mayor contenido total de aminoácidos (127.1 g kg-1) y proteína bruta (151.3 g kg-1) fue en el chícharo de campo, comparado con las medias de las otras especies estudiadas. Los aminoácidos, la fibra neutro detergente, y la fibra ácido detergente fueron diferentes según las diferentes especies. El trébol de montaña presentó los mayores valores de fibra neutro detergente (45.16 %) y fibra ácido detergente (34.67 %), mientras que los menores valores de fibra neutro detergente (40.11 %) y fibra ácido detergente (30.52 %) se obtuvieron en trébol persa. El chícharo de campo, el trébol persa, el trébol cabeza de búho, y el trébol de montaña son más apropiados y pueden sugerirse para su uso como alimento fresco o seco para el ganado. The objective of this work was to determine the amino acid and fiber contents of field pea (Pisum arvense L.), Persian clover (Trifolium resupinatum var. typicum Fiori et Paol.), owl-head clover (T. alpestre L.) and mountain clover (T. montanum L.) at full-bloom stage. The investigation was conducted during the 2005-2006 at the Department of Field Crops in the Agricultural Faculty of the Namik Kemal University, Turkey. Owl-head clover and mountain clover were collected from grasslands (43.0 °N, 26.0 °E) of the Belovetz village in Razgrad, Bulgaria. Persian clover (line Y) and field pea (line Z) were obtained from the Department of Field Crops, Agriculture Faculty, Namik Kemal University in Tekirdag, Turkey. All samples were analyzed in triplicate. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replicates. The amino acid (g kg-1), crude protein (g kg-1), acid detergent fiber (%), and neutral detergent fiber (%) contents were determined. The highest total content (127.1 g kg-1) of amino acid and crude protein (151.3 g kg-1) were found in the field pea in comparison with the means of the other species observed. The amino acids, neutral detergent fiber, and acid detergent fiber were all affected by the different species. The mountain clover had the highest neutral detergent fiber (45.16 %) and acid detergent fiber (34.67 %) values, whereas, the lowest neutral detergent fiber (40.11 %) and acid detergent fiber (30.52 %) were obtained in Persian clover. This study was carried out to determine the effects of inoculant preparation time and doses on fermentation and aerobic stability characteristics of the second crop maize ensiled under laboratory conditions. Maize was harvested at the dough maturity stage. MICROBIOS(Cuprem®, USA) was used as lactic acid bacteri a +enzyme mi×ture silage inoculant. The inoculant was applied at 1.0 × 105 cfu/g (RD1), a recommended dose, and 2.0 × 105 cfu/g (DD1) double the recommended dose, The chopped forages were ensiled i n 1.0-I anaerobic jars (Week, Wher-Oftlingen, Germany) equipped with a lid that enables only gas release. Three jars per treatment were sampled on days 4, 7, 14, 21 and 55. The jars were stored at 20-22°C under laboratory conditions. After 55 days of ensiling, the silages were subjected to an aerobic stabi I ity test for 5 days. The study showed that doubling the rate of inoculant application was not effective than the recommended rate at enhandngthe silage quality or aerobic stability. Moreover, preparation time did not improve the fermentation and aerobic stability of the second crop maize silage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
